This is a long overdue review for Therapeutica. Dr. Sal is a wonderful chiropractor. I was referred by my workers comp insurance for my neck and back injury. It's a much more holistic type of experience which I love. He is flexible and accommodating when it does not conflict with other patients. He has helped me heal my neck and back. He also helped when I ruptured my Achilles' tendon. Those injuries combined really hurt my back and neck since I was compensating for my leg. The acupuncturist, Min, is wonderful as well. I am a Taiwanese American born and raised in the US and have had traditional Chinese acupuncturists who believe that you should feel pain during acupuncture. She is not like that at all and she is gentle. It's an extremely relaxing environment. And for Bonnie, the therapeutic masseuse, she is wonderful. I would describe it as a combination of acupressure and deep tissue massage. And you should still tip the masseuse. :) Thank you Therapeutica for taking care of me. I moved into the South Bay 2 years ago and been looking for a good chiropractor. I've gone to ~5 and each had pros and cons that I ended up not staying with. One of them (off Hawthorne) made my issue worse and more focused on selling treatment packages rather than addressing actual issues. Dr. Sal and his team met my needs fully and has always been cordial, professional in all of my interactions. Dr. Sal has gone out of his way to accommodate my challenging schedule on multiple occasion and that has been extremely helpful for me. Dr. Sal knows his bones and joints, the right amount of pressure to loosen the aches. What I also like is his holistic approach in combining acupuncture and massage that really drives the overall effect of the treatment. I typically has the first adjustment session with Dr. Sal to work out the 'kinks'. I then move to a different room with Min the acupuncturist. I am seasoned with acupuncture and Min is very gentle and alleviates alot of my nature fear of needles. Last session ends with a massage that is the cake on top of the treatments. One stop shop! I would recommend to plan for ~1.5 hours if getting all 3 treatments, don't think it's necessary to get all 3. Again, Dr. Sal is very flexible and would recommend the appropriate treatment based on needs. read more

Dr. Sam and Lalita were great. They were both very welcoming and willing to stay after hours to see me :) I got a massage by Lalita, and it was probably the best massage I've ever had. I've been to so many massage places and would get 60-90 mins massages but I always felt like the massage therapist would rush with each body part that they massaged. Lalita took her time and I thought she was very thorough - what was a 50 min massage felt a lot longer. I plan on going back again for more massages, and trying out acupuncture. I highly recommend her! Wasn't super impressed with the facility, but it was adequate. The parking lot was under construction so I had to park on the street. The walls were super thin and I could hear people talking in the waiting room while I was getting massaged. Also, the music in the room came from an ipod or clock radio, so it was a lot of random French music instead of the usual soothing sounds you hear during a massage. "It's even better than I EVER expected it to be!" That's what one of my daughters said after her treatments here. I personally started treatments with Dr. Sal last fall when I had excruciating pain in my shoulder and numbness all the way down my arm. Like a previous reviewer, my GP prescribed painkillers and muscle relaxers that did nothing really for me. Tests showed I had 2 bulging disks. Dr Sal was able to get me back up and running in less time than it took me to jump through all the typical "insurance hoops". I have scoliosis and have been going to Sal for a few years now. I honestly recommend him to anyone I come in contact with who even utters the words back and pain in my presence. He is amazing. I have gone to many different back doctors/spinal surgeons and chiropractors and massage therapists in my life and nothing compares to the way that he treats patients. First off- he does not use an activator (for those of you who are unfamiliar it is a tool that helps with spinal manipulation) I much prefer manual manipulation since he is actually feeling your spine and making certain that everything is in alignment. He begins your treatment with a soothing roller coaster table massage (not really but it is a roller that you lay on that rolls up and down your spine..it's a heavenly way to get your spine ready for the adjustment). Then he moves you to another room where you lay on a special table that assists with the adjustment process. It's just a truly wonderful way to maintain spine health. I recently had a portion of my rib cage get/fall out of alignment; I honestly cannot describe the pain I felt. It was like a knife stabbing you through the back. I e-mailed Dr. Sal and he got me in immediately. He was able to eliminate the pain and tell me what had happened within 5 minutes. You just can't beat that!! His adjustments are the best! I hurt my lower back very badly two weeks ago. I was unable to get out of bed unassisted and I had to take pain killers to make the pain bearable. What was worse was I was unable to feel my left leg. Dr. Sal was recommended by a friend of mine. I was desperate so I did a walk in in the morning and Dr. Sal was kind enough to squeeze me in. Dr. Sal worked on my lower back for 40 minutes and by the time he was finished I was able to feel my leg again. Amazing! The stiffness and pain in my lower back had lessened drastically as well. After my session with Dr. Sal, I had an acupuncture session with Min. Min is very gentle with getting the needles in, so it doesn't hurt (at least not to me!) Before leaving the office, Dr. Sal checked with me again to see if I was feeling better. I thought that was very nice. I bought a $25 massage at this place through KGB Deals, (value $85), and was very pleasantly surprised at how good it turned out to be. I've had many massages in my life, and this one rates one of the best. My therapist was Yvette, a small, unassuming girl with small hands, who said, "You wanted deep tissue, correct?" Skeptically I replied, "Yes please", wondering how this tiny thing could possibly have the strength. But to my delight, she was amazing. I usually don't like my legs massaged, but because this was a new place I didn't say anything, and I'm glad I didn't. Even the leg massage was great. She seemed to know just how to do it to give me the most benefit. My barometer in rating massages is whether or not I get into "the zone", and this time there was no doubt, I zoned out to the max. Still feeling the benefits as I write this. Ahhhhh...... I would highly recommend Yvette at Therapeutica to anyone. And I discovered they take my medical insurance for massages!
