I have been seeing Dr. Alex Hwang and his staff for several years now. I initially came for bad neck stiffness but have progressed on to treating bad shoulders, hips and chronic pain from a 24 year old dislocated tailbone! I have also received acupuncture from Dr. Young Hwang (Dr. Alex's father) and that has also made a world of difference in my shoulders and tailbone! The entire staff is friendly and greet you by name. The office is also super flexible with scheduling and accommodating your time. The sessions are very complete with e-stimulation, manual tissue therapy, massage, adjustments and sometimes even cupping. During acupuncture, Dr. Hwang will also use guasha on certain spots of scar tissue on my shoulders and that's helped so much as well! Most recently, Dr. Alex has been treating an injured shoulder and I swear he did something like sorcery on it because it went from acute pain to like 90% mobility in a few sessions! Dr Alex & Young Hwang are incredible doctors who genuinely care and I can't advocate for them enough! I broke my arm (humerus bone) snowboarding 7 months ago which also agitated the radial nerve, resulting in no mobility in my fingers for 5 months. After seeking help from a number of different doctors (orthopedics, neurologists, hand surgeons, occupational/physical therapists) and seeing little recovery, I grew pretty desperate and hopeless. I finally started seeing Dr Alex & Young for both chiropractor & acupuncture treatment and I mean WOW, after only 8 weeks I'm so excited to say that I'm almost at 100% of my original mobility. Before treatment, I had numbness running all the way down the nerve from my tricep to thumb, I could barely lift my wrist, and had zero ability in extending my fingers. I could only type with one hand and struggled to lift anything greater than 3lbs without putting stress on my wrist. Not to mention, I also developed tendinitis which made the pain that much worse. It was only after the 3rd treatment that I started seeing a flicker of movement in my fingers return and from that point, the speed of recovery was exponential. Dr Alex had me go back to the basics - he focused on the injury site where a ton of scar tissue had built up, massaging it out to allow the nerve to breath & recover again. He also gave me simple & achievable goals each week through exercises to rebuild my hand strength. Dr Young worked his acupuncture magic - focusing on my arm and wrist to relieve the swelling & pain. Consistency was also key! I made sure to follow up with all of the exercises at home. After 8 weeks & 14 treatments, I'm now able to extend my fingers fully, do all my daily activities like typing with both hands, tying my hair, cooking, and playing guitar again!! And no more pain in my wrist. Dr Alex & Young Hwang were both invested in my recovery journey from start to finish and I'm so so grateful for them! I very appreciate to Dr. Young Hwang for treatment my problem with urinary retention and headache because of pelvic muscle tension. Unfortunately, prescribed medications, physical therapy, six weeks of Urgent PC therapy, and trial neuromodulation surgery did not work for me. I also took a seven-unit course in acupuncture from a well-advertised acupuncture clinic, but with no positive results. On my first visit to Dr. Young Hwang I came with a Foley catheter, and now already more than 6 weeks I do not need catheterization and have no headache. He went and worked with Peter to isolate where's causing the pain where I did not even realized the root of the cause. Not only are both Young Hwang and Alex Hwang knowledgeable about my upper and lower back stiffness, they are good at advising how to fix my posture, how to do at-home and at-work stretches. He is very precise and quite honestly, I don't feel any pain when he treats me with the needles in my lower back and shoulders. Was very much in some sudden excruciating upper back pain, and I had never been to chiropractor before and had some reservations, but I was desperate and wanted relief and wanted nothing to do with pills and the like.
