This is a top notch practice with highly skilled and compassionate physical therapists. I went there for both prenatal and postpartum physical therapy (pelvic floor and other PT work). Before working with Meredy and Natalia, I had never had pelvic floor PT before. I knew I probably needed it but was nervous about getting that kind of therapy. Long story short: I should have gone to these therapists YEARS ago for pelvic floor PT before I ever got pregnant... they would have helped so much with general issues I was having! Prenatal PT: I contacted Chicago Physical Therapists in Spring 2022 late in my second trimester when I heard a "What to Expect" podcast about how beneficial pelvic floor PT could be for childbirth. After booking an initial consultation with Meredy, she encouraged me to double check with my OBGYN that it was okay to proceed with pelvic floor PT (my OBGYN said yes). Because Meredy was completely booked for over a month due to her high demand, I started PT work with Natalia, following a started a schedule of seeing either Natalia or Meredy up to near my due date. I really appreciated how excellent, respectful, and compassionate both therapists were. Natalia and Meredy kept their each other updated about my progress and there were no discrepancies in their care. I learned so much about how to relax the pelvic area to prepare for pushing a baby out, breathing techniques for relaxing for any cervical checks the doctors would do while I was in labor. When it came time for the real deal childbirth with a last minute unexpected labor induction, I was able to handle the internal exams and water breaking and delay pain medication (which was my desire) for most of the labor time. Postpartum PT: Meredy and Natalia were proactive in getting me scheduled as soon as possible for PT postpartum. Due to many non-physical factors I canceled some of the appointments and chose to not get examined until 3 months postpartum. In the interim, both therapists checked in with me to let me know that I could be added to the waitlist for openings if there were any appointment cancellations or to offer telehealth in case I was available or up for it. The postpartum therapy has been going great, with tips and exercises I can do at home to promote getting my pelvic floor, abdomen, and other out-of-whack parts of me restored post birth. Billing practices: I saw a negative Yelp review about billing practices and I wanted to share that I haven't had any issues at all. I receive emails with the totals to be charged, I have time to ask questions about the bills, and I consented to have convenient autopay when I was onboarded as a patient. I go to Alisha and have brushed shoulders with many other therapists here who are probably equally terrific. By the time I finally made an appointment with Pro-Holistic, I was feeling desperate. As a personal chef for more than 10 years, I spent lots of time on my feet and developed painful lower back pain. In addition, the burning nerve pain in my neck was back again and I was fearing another cervical disc replacement and fusion. My digestion was totally off and I had chronic fatigue. Basically, no energy to do my job much less put in extra time for my grandkids. I figured I'd give chiropractics another try. I'd been to a chiropractor 15 years ago and had an unremarkable experience. This one seemed different. Right from the start I found Drs Rae and Vargas to be knowledgeable, and confident that they could help me. They really LISTENED. Their plan for my treatment was 3 days a week and with my busy schedule, I honestly didn't think I could fit it in. It turned out to be an appointment I actually looked forward to. Following their recommendations and 5 months later, I feel like a new person. Their holistic approach includes skilled chiropractic techniques, acupuncture, and functional nutrition directives that changed my life. So last March, when I started having problems with pain in one of my hands and dropping things (I'm 26 and active, so that's not really normal for me), I decided to visit her. It started out well enough, as told to by the receptionist, I arrived 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. Then was taken to a tiny, stuffy room where I waited a full hour. Ok fine, doctor visits aren't known for being speedy or in rooms with nice air flow. Finally the doctor pokes her head in, introduces herself, and asks if I wouldn't mind if a student doctor from Northwestern sits in. I said that was fine. She said she'd be right back. Several minutes later she came back with the student, introduced her, and left. The student, who was very friendly, spent a good 45 minutes asking me about my family health history and discussing my hand. She spent time moving it around, feeling it, etc. She took detailed notes the whole time. When she left, she left the door ajar and I could hear her and the doctor discussing me, my health and my hand for about 25+ minutes. By then, I'd been there 2.5 hours, and was not happy. Finally the doctor came in and proceeded to ask me all of the same family health questions the student did, even as she was holding the student's notes in her hand. She asked about my hand, didn't touch it, just asked a few questions. Finally she recommended that I quit my job and look for a new one since the repetitiveness of it was causing the pain. She also took some routine blood tests, because I was overdue for them. Three hours later I left. THREE. Are you kidding me?? It gets better though. She said she'd call in a week with my test results. Two weeks later I come out of the bathroom to see that I have a missed call from her. I call back and the receptionist answers. When I asked to speak to the doctor, she said "She just called you a few minutes ago, why didn't you answer?" I said I hadn't heard the phone ring. She said "When the doctor calls you, you answer, she is a very busy woman." I repeated myself, and said I wasn't ignoring her, I hadn't heard the phone and since it was a week past when she said she'd call, I hadn't exactly been sitting on the phone. She ended the call saying she'd have her call me. Fast forward exactly seven months to now... I never got a call back, and I only just this week received their bill, even though I saw when it went through my insurance company several months ago. This doctor (and clearly her receptionist) have no respect for people's time.Why didn't the doctor just sit in with the student, as initially implied, to save everything from being discussed more than once? A huge waste of time for us all. I will not be back there.
