So far two fantastic experiences. First one they spent a couple hours trying to diagnose my…read morefurnace acting up. Turns out it was my air filter being too restrictive. Tried to tune the furnace anyway to accommodate it, which was actually kind of fun to watch all the different ways it could be done. No other HVAC technician I've ever worked with before has done that. A/C maintenance went great too. First company I've ever hired that didn't try to sell me an entirely new unit just due to a faulty capacitor. Even gave me the model number of the capacitor to replace if I want to save money and do it myself (I'm reasonably handy so it's something I'd probably do). I'll be using them for as long as they give great service!

AC died in the middle of the night. They came out the next morning and said my unit was too old…read morerepair (just over 20 years old), while ripping out something from the power box and seemingly breaking a component in there. They said they could try to do a repair for about $1.3k but that they couldn't guarantee the repair would be effective because of the condenser. They then tried to sell me on their highest end heat-pump for about $24k, which was too much for our needs, since our furnace was also functional. We ended up choosing a basic AC replacement for around $9k. They were able to install the new unit two days later. However, on the day of the install, they saw some surface level rust on the furnace heat exchanger and tried to get me to replace it for an additional $4k. When I said no, they backed off and recommended a CO alarm (which we already have). It felt like I was being heavily taken advantage of because I was in a dire situation. The installation went fine, but my experience of being pressured and hard sold to during the process made it feel like I was being milked for every penny they could get out of me. Take this as a precaution to check your HVAC AC/furnace/heat pump regularly, and get multiple quotes before deciding on work. If you go with this company, they will seemingly do an effective job, but they will try their best to get as much money out of you as possible.

There are so many Air Duct Cleaning Companies out there and many are very expensive. Duct HVAC…read moreProfessor in Prospect Heights has a BBB Rating of A. HVAC Professor is extremely reasonable with its pricing. They were extremely prompted for our appointment time scheduled. Angel and Juan did an Awesome job cleaning all our vents completely in an hour and one half. Angel and Juan were both very courteous and respectful working around our home. They were very efficient and worked well together. We are very happy with them working for HVAC Professor. We recommend them highly! Thank you so much for your hard work Angel and Juan!

DO NOT HIRE. If I could give zero stars, I would. I originally hired Duct Professor to fix my home…read moreAC, and they ended up charging me over $1,300 for six incredibly frustrating visits, a string of misdiagnoses, and unauthorized repairs. The first two technicians they sent spent hours troubleshooting but completely failed to find the issue. Instead of properly diagnosing the system, they installed a non-OEM control board without my knowledge or consent. This unauthorized part risked causing further damage to my electrical system through power fluctuations. When that didn't fix the AC, they guessed the AC contactor was the problem and replaced it twice to no avail. It wasn't until the sixth visit that a senior tech finally came out and identified the actual root cause: a damaged low-voltage power line leading from the AC to the house. This is a fundamental issue that should have been caught on day one. Dealing with a broken AC in the middle of summer is hard enough, but enduring a dragged-out, six-visit ordeal with a newborn baby in the house made their incompetence a complete nightmare. Ultimately, because they left my system compromised, I had to hire an entirely different, independent HVAC company to actually fix the problem. To make matters worse, I sent a detailed email to Duct Professor management outlining these failures and requesting a refund for the misdiagnoses and unauthorized parts. They completely ignored me. No follow-up, no apology, no attempt to make it right. Save your money, your time, and your sanity--look elsewhere.
