Wilson was terrible to work with. I'd recommend hiring anyone else due to his unprofessionalism. I'm posting on both Google and Yelp to warn people about him, and to encourage you to find literally anyone else. First, he does not communicate. Wilson and I scheduled an appointment for him to fix a broken AC unit in the height of summer. We agreed on a date and time, and I moved my own clients to accommodate him. He never showed up. When I asked him to at least give me a heads up in the future, he said, "Oh, I was already driving away from the city and didn't want to turn around." At the very minimum, he should have given a notice that he was not planning to come. Second, he does not honor his own warranties. A brand-new unit was installed and broke after 1 year of regular use. He stated that a part broke, but it would cost $200 to come and fix it. This is not a warranty, this is grifting for additional "labor costs." Third, he does not honor his own prices. His company sent out a summer promotion flyer for regular maintenance. There was not expiration date on this flyer. When he came out, at a date that he chose a week later than when we called, he then quoted a price that was $400 higher than the promotion, and stated that "the offer expired" despite there being no written expiration date. In addition, he chose to come out on a date beyond this arbitrary "expiration date." Fourth, his craftsmanship is shoddy and he has no attention to detail. I have never had to call someone so many times to fix a unit. This is due to his lack of attention to detail (not ensuring the steam valve is functional, or not ensuring that the actuator is working prior to finishing the job). Of course, each time he comes out is an additional fee. In short, Wilson is unprofessional, has shockingly poor craftsmanship, and was overall unpleasant to work with. Please find literally anyone else to repair your HVAC. read more

I purchased 3 units over the summer. When the weather turned cold, one of the units was not supplying heat. Despite several phone calls and e-mail, no response from Thermoline. This is not a good company to deal with as they do not back up their products. read more

Who I am: I am long-serving President of my cooperative apartment building, and 20 years a tenured business-school professor. I paid Thermoline to install ACs in the home of a good friend, a wonderful mother of three fine sons. Wilson Cruz devastated that poor woman's home, inflicting thousands of dollars of damage, and leaving old ACs on the floor for my friend to move. She injured herself doing so. The attached pictures are literally of his installation as he left it. They must be seen to be believed. One of the ACs he installed--an $850 unit--had to be removed and discarded within months, because it was unsafe. Cruz had NAILED the unit to the metal windowsill. At the upper end of that installation, he fatally deformed the sash. Fixing this will be very costly, if in fact it's at all possible. These pictures don't do justice to the damage, both physical and emotional, inflicted on this wonderful Black woman and her family. Wilson Cruz of Thermoline AC is incompetent and destructive beyond imagining. But there is more, incredible as the attached screenshot will seem ... There is actual verbal abuse from this Wilson Cruz creature. When I recently attempted to communicate with Cruz about these issues, he replied exactly as you will see in the attached screenshot from his email. I want you to take a look at that, right now. As coop President, I've encountered some extraordinary incompetence, but nothing like this. Working with contractors, I've encountered some toxic personalities. Based on the reviews I hired Wilson to take a look at 2 PTAC units in my home. Initially I was quoted $260 but then a week later when I called again, he verbally offered $240. Although there were other companies charging $200, I went with Wilson because he genuinely seemed like he knew his stuff. He serviced the units- no issues there. However, when he swiped my card he charged me $280! I called him and said you quoted me $240... he said he didn't remember saying that. Sigh! My husband called him and left a VM and he never called him back. Unfortunately, I won't use his services again because of this miscommunication and for those reading this, just make sure you get everything in writing. That's what I should've done. Update based on your review: We actually did NOT discuss the total before you proceeded with the payment. If you did, I would've not called you immediately back right after asking for clarification as to why I was charged so much. And just for clarification and awareness to others, you sent me the receipt this morning AFTER I posted my initial review. I can upload the text message with the date and time of today of the receipt. Service was done on Friday. If I could rate Wilson and his company with ten stars I would. I requested a quote directly on yelp and he replied almost immediately. Yelp send out request to numerous companies and I went with Thermoline A/C due to his prompt and courteous replies. You can tell a lot about someone in the way they respond. I was going to order an A/C unit from Home Depot to be delivered, which was going to take about 2 weeks due to Covid. Wilson did not hesitate to offer to pick up the unit and Home Depot which (to me) is above and beyond! This enabled me to have the unit installed next day instead of 2 weeks. He and his assistant arrived and were very polite and professional and installed my new AC FAST and it works great. His price is fair....especially in NYC. Do NOT hesitate to hire Wilson. read more

Wilson and his assistant did a great job involving three window A/C units in my home--each of which required slightly different solutions in order to be properly installed. They worked efficiently and precisely in a no-nonsense manner with the skill needed to do the work from mounting the outside brackets, to proper placement in the windows to taking pains to seal off all spaces those plastic wings leave open (cutting form board to size and applying silicone to eliminate cracks that allow insects to get through and let warm outside air enter a room and limit the full benefit of the A/C). They got the other old AC unit uninstalled and got the new one put in a different window for me and did it quickly and efficiently. Wilson was very meticulous with getting the new unit to sit right in the window and made sure the bracket was centered right. I didn't need to say anything he just did it all on his own which impressed me. They even offered to take the trash down which I didn't need but I appreciated the offer nonetheless. Perform a background check on who you let into your homes.He and his worker came into my home with blood shot eyes and smelled of something and it was not a cleaning chemical. My unit was 2 years old but he insisted I purchase a knew unit from him.He stated to me and my wife that he could remove my old unit free of charge and bring the new unit right away, as it was in his van already. the whole experience felt as if he was going around trying to get people to buy new units when they didn't need one. read more

The AC died a sad death. No cold air blowing out, on the eve of a heatwave. Asked for a quote, left a message and Wilson called within 30 minutes. We set up an appointment for the next day. He declared our unit dead on sight, saying it wasn't worth it to buy a new one. He didn't even charge us for the appointment. He is a gem of a human being and a great guy to boot. I initially reached out to Thermoline A/C if they could give me advice on how to fix my broken window AC unit (not blowing cool air, but with a fully functioning fan etc.) without having to call a repairman or throw my unit away during one of the hottest weeks of the summer. Knowing how expensive it is to have someone even look at a unit in person and diagnose the issue, I thought I would get a quick couple of reasons as to why my unit isn't functioning. Instead, Wilson C responded and helped coach me through a little DIY unit disassembly in my apartment bathtub to check that my back coils weren't clogged. After watching YouTube videos and taking off the unit's shell, I sent him pictures and described different sounds, to which he helped identify that my compressor wasn't functioning properly which he candidly said would be an expensive fix and probably not worth my time. Not only was he friendly, but he truly went above and beyond with a helpful phone call and through Yelp messaging. Although I wasn't able to fix it in the end, his advice was incredibly reassuring.
