One entree is more than one person can eat. Service was a bit lacking after we got our food though. Drinks ran out 2 times. I get it. It happens. Our first time eating at Koi Sushi and Thai. Ordered 5 rolls and ginger chicken. Sushi came out after 30 minutes but not the ginger chicken. We had to ask about it and they forgot to put in the order. No apology. We had to wait another 15 minutes for it. It was good once we got it. Just not great service. Sushi rolls were good but small. I've heard of Koi Sushi & Thai and know there are a couple locations around the Middle Tennessee area, but I don't know if they are all related to each other in some way. I visited the Franklin one for lunch when I had to go down there for a vendor meeting. They wanted to go to lunch afterwards, and I was down for anything. Surprisingly, Koi Sushi & Thai was pretty packed for lunch. We asked if they had any specials and our server said no. So one can only assume Koi has a pretty good reputation in these rich parts. Since my vendor was paying, I had a Spicy Tuna Roll, Pad Thai w/ Ginger Dressing Salad, and a water. The Pad Thai was alright. I mean it had the flavors of Pad Thai and Pad Thai is one of those dishes that are universally found everywhere. As long as you're within some degree of the recipe, they kind of taste all the same unless you do some kind of celebrity chef's modification to a classic dish. The Ginger Dressing Salad was the same. All Asian restaurants featuring sushi have this salad. The iceberg lettuce was fresh and hit the spot. Now the sushi is the star. I'm not a sushi snob and I like my rolls to be relatively classic. I don't like fancy rolls or rolls with 50,000 ingredients in them, nor do I like cooked rolls or tempura battered rolls. When I order a roll, I look for one thing. The only thing I look for (other than that it's edible) is that the sushi is actual chunks of fish. This is my method of knowing if a sushi restaurant is worth anything. If I order just a Tuna Roll or Salmon Roll and the fish in it is minced/grinded up fish, then that restaurant gets 1 star from me. I get that the good quality fish goes in nigiri and then you have scraps that can't be used but I just find it gross and would rather not eat sushi at all. Since I had a good experience here, I can chalk up Koi as a place for good sushi and classic Asian that satisfies your craving. read more

Food is good, but the service was iffy. We dined here last week, and we had to wait for drinks and food for quite a long time. It was not preferred being as we had all just finished work, and were hungry. First world problems? Absolutely. However, we still really enjoyed their offerings and liked that the menus had a light behind them. It was convenient that the restaurant had mood lighting. They offer an extensive food and sushi menu, all within the price range you would expect for the area. The alcohol menu was grossly inflated, but again, you expect this for the area. They offer a Japanese/Thai fusion menu. The food tasted so fresh! The vegetables were bright and crisp. The meat was clean and cooked perfectly. The service was excellent. They kept clearing away our plates and trash but it never disturbed us. So we had plenty of table space. They also had backlit menus so it was easy to read in the dim but cozy lighting. I kept noticing small details like their silverware selection, seating design, and wall decor. Clearly a lot of love went into creating this restaurant. 10/10 recommend! read more

"TAKE Out", beware: We ordered 2 Hawaiian Prawn dinners and a side. The meal was awful, the veggies were raw, old and uneatable. We called to let them know our concerns, at this point no one spoke English., and we were at wits end, for $57 I expect a little more than a sloppy soup. Called in my order on New Years eve. They took my order over the phone. The money was pulled from my account. Cane out over $64. After running my card they told me they could not give me my food order because they never got the money even though it was taken out of my bank. I disputed it with my bank and with Koi. Neither gave me my money back. I think the machine merchant took my money but nothing was done to get my money back. Very disappointing as a customer. read more

I dined at Koi Sushi & Thai on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 12:30 pm. This review is based on my second dining experience at lunch, which unfortunately, did not really improve much since my first dining experience at dinner over 2 years ago. I thought it was still pretty average in terms of food quality. This Japanese/Thai fusion restaurant quickly got busy after opening so I could tell it is still a popular restaurant. The Pad Thai, a Thai staple dish I normally order to assess any Thai restaurant's authenticity and quality, was mediocre. I wouldn't say its execution was poor, but it just didn't stand out to me. The flavor was not as developed compared to other pad Thai I have eaten around Nashville. It was also a bit too moist and was missing some more time on a hot wok. As someone who don't mind a little MSG in his food, I felt like there was too much in the Pad Thai. So be prepared to be subdued to a food coma if you eat the Pad Thai. There are a lot of options for sushi and they all look great on the picture menu. I do commend Koi for offering unique sushi rolls you wouldn't find in other sushi restaurants. I normally do not order sushi with crawfish in it, but I must have missed it when I ordered the red dragon roll. It was well-balanced and flavorful. I'd also recommend the snake roll if you like the basic eel roll because it has the imitation crab and fresh cucumber to balance the rich eel flavor. The volcano roll is typically a rich roll, but I thought it needed more spice to cut the richness. I did not like the TNT roll because I thought the panang curry seasoning was overpowering and just doesn't belong in sushi. Service was above average - very friendly and attentive. Waters were adequately refilled and our food came in a timely manner. We barely missed the lunch rush when we left, so be prepared to expect slower service if the restaurant is full. Overall, I think if I were to visit Koi again, I would stick to mostly sushi because there are a lot of intriguing ones I'd like to try out next time. read more

Ambiance is no frills however, loved the lighting. Not too dark but dimmed lighting makes you want to settle in and relax & not rush through a yummy meal. Koi is very family friendly. There were multiple tables with kids chowing down on noodles. My husband & I started with the garlic edamame & it was insanely delicious! We followed with the Fuji Roll & finished with the Red Devil Roll. Mmm, mmm, mmm, both were a Home Run! Will definitely be ordering those again but not before I try new ones. There are so many rolls to choose from. But, no worries the server brings an iPad to the table that has pics of all the rolls. I only had water & a Diet Coke tonight but they have a decent wine & beer list. If you do not feel like eating in phone in your to go order they had A Lot of ppl doing take out. Came in with a group of us to enjoy lunch after a day of fun. The dining area is HUGE with lots of nice seating. We were escorted to an alcove where we were all able to sit at a long table, which was perfect. The staff is very friendly and were able to get our things out to us all at the same time which is no small feat. The menu is definitely extensive and has something for everyone. I think I ordered the Agedashi Tofu and a Beef Teriyaki lunch set along with a glass or two of beer. The food was good, but I had higher expectations to be honest. It just lacked the authenticity I usually find at restaurants like this. It may be the myriad of choices available, but it just didn't hit the spot like I thought it would. Poor Service and Mediocre Food at Franklin Prices Compared to the other reviewers, I must have dined in an alternate reality. I ordered an Unagidon, eel over rice, with miso soup and green tea. The eel was uninspiring and served room temperature over cold rice. Really the presentation said "I don't care". Once the food was dropped off I did not see a server until I got my check. Have ordered the Garlic sauce chicken dish multiple times at lunch. The first time we received a spring roll with lots of carrots and cabbage in our dish. The second time no spring roll, no carrots. Had lots of carrots the first time. The first order was great but the second time was skimpy and missing veggies and hardly any cabbage. Again the sauce is not hot. This is my umpteenth time visiting Koi but I've only now gotten around to writing a review. As you can tell from the pictures, we were so excited about the food we dug in before I remembered to take a picture. We've always had fantastic experiences and today was no exception. The staff is accommodating and welcoming but can seem a bit dispassionate from the outside. However, don't let that dissuade you from eating here because the food is wonderful. A smidge over priced but good quality. The restaurant itself is very nice with different seating arrangements and great ambiance. While this restaurant is a little on the expensive side, I do recommend it if you want some good sushi. I also love the fact that they have gluten-free accommodations including ability to make dishes gluten-free and even gluten-free soy sauce. read more

The food was ok, but we won't be returning. The lady who handed us menus was cold, and it took quite a bit of effort to flag someone down when we needed something. Despite the fact that the majority of the time, we were literally the only ones there. In fact, all of the employees sat down at a table to eat together. No one came to check on us after we received our food because they were literally all at a table. The egg roll was cold, we needed a knife, napkins, etc. And yet, no matter how many times we visibly looked over at the table full of employees, no one would come. This was not the best experience. :/ Staff was friendly, though went MIA after delivery of food, and weren't very attentive. Tried three different spicy fried rolls. None had the slightest hint of heat, and they all tasted exactly the same. In fact, flavors were very similar to a Chinese eggroll. I don't know that I could tell the difference if I were blindfolded. Ordered salmon sashimi and ended up with chewy square logs cut in different thickness and lengths. My son usually gets the spicy tuna roll (he's new to sushi, so it's an easy intro) and he had me taste one and it was clearly just a plain tuna roll. Flagged the server to see if we could get them swapped and she said it is spicy, they look the same, without actually asking anyone if they may have mistakenly done the plain tuna. We told her again it was just plain tuna - honestly it was visually obvious - but she insisted it was spicy, said she would bring sriracha, and walked away. Uhhhhhh...... Took forever to flag someone for a drink refill, same with getting the bill, and then at least 10 minutes to get the bill back, though the restaurant was only a quarter full at best. Those who love this place really love it, and judging by reviews, there's a clear sway towards the Thai or Vietnamese plates vs sushi, but I don't think we'd come back. $75 later, we left still hungry, but didn't want to chance ordering more disappointing food. read more

I had driven past this restaurant before and thought it was out of business because the corner windows had some sort of "for lease" sign out. It turns out, they are OPEN....they just look closed. The tinted windows don't help that. I went with my parents for a Sunday lunch. Spacious for Covid. Lots of servers ready to help out and serve. All good. I ordered the chicken teriyaki Bento box and it was the driest chicken I've ever had. It was very difficult to even chew and swallow. My husband had the chicken lo mein and the noodles were mushy and sticky as if they had been overcooked. One of my kids got the salmon and it was pretty good so I will give them that. Friends of mine who have similar foodie tastes as me kept raving about Koi. I finally got around to going for lunch today and I'm really happy about it! They have two locations - East Nashville and this one in Franklin off Columbia Ave. We walked in around 12:30 and they weren't busy at all. Sometimes an empty restaurant worries me, but I trusted my friend on this one. We were directed to seat ourselves and chose a comfortable booth. I found it kind of funny they play jazz music, but it makes for a great background to conversation. They offer an extensive menu selection ranging from sushi, bento boxes (teriyaki), noodles, stir fry's, and curries. I opted for spicy eggplant which came with white rice, a vegetable spring roll, and my choice of salad over miso soup. Everything was tasty and far from ordinary. My salad's ginger dressing was one of a kind, their spring roll refreshing and the array of veggies that came mixed with my eggplant was so vast, I didn't even know what one of my veggies was. If I had to give one critique, it's that my dish was labeled spicy but had no kick at all (I don't particularly have a high tolerance either) and I wish my meal was more eggplant forward rather than a few pieces mixed in with the rest of the veggies. I, really, love eggplant. I probably won't order that specific dish again and would gladly try other items. I tried a bite of my friend's red curry and that too was yummy, but again, no spice! I'm going to ask them to fire it up next time! While this isn't a destination restaurant, the fact that it's within 10ish minutes from me makes it totally worthwhile and a place I can see incorporating in my "regular" rotation. read more
