But let me tell you, the first guy took 45 min, second guy was 75 min in and still going by the time I left. The first barber (light-skinned latino) took 45 min, worked hard and did an excellent job on an older man. Honestly, while I waited and saw him work, I wanted my cut with him. Unfortunately he left to go inside their building and was replaced by this young black haired latino. He was working on this guy who walked in with a Phil Foden cut and 75 min in, largely unchanged but with a clean trim on the sides. (There was hardly any hair on the ground ) One reason his cut was taking so long was this barber was too busy live-streaming on his phone, occasionally looking at peoples' comments. It also didn't help he was cutting at a snail's pace. It's one thing to be attentive to detail (something the first barber was good at). It's another to just go hair by hair. Bad for business, wasting peoples' time, so much that I don't feel like stopping by the actual shop. Hope the business sees this and if they do, please let me know the name of that guy. If I ever do stop by, I'd like to avoid him at all cost.

After checking them out online and on Instagram I called and made an appointment with Mario. There is plenty of metered street parking in the area. Some in front of the building that the shop is in and there's also a metered lot to the right of the building. Finos is located on the second floor of the building. Theres a door leading to the stairs located next to Franks Burgers. Go up the stairs and turn left once you reach the top. The vibe in the shop is very laid back. There was music playing at a reasonable level and the whole shop is well lit. Mario is really cool and he offered me a complimentary beverage (soda or beer). I opted for a soda since I drove myself. Now on to the cut and overall experience. Mario took time consulting with me to figure out the best cut for me. I shared what I had in mind down to the guides I preferred and how close I wanted thebcut to be. Once he got started with the cut we had a really cool conversation about everything from sports to family to travel, etc. Throughout the entire conversation Mario was cutting and detailing to make sure everything was perfect. When he was done I was extremely happy! This is easily the best haircut I've had in years at a barbershop! The price was fair, only $60 for a haircut and beard trim. I actually had him do a fade on my beard too. It's a new look for me, but I like the end result. Mario earned a new client and I look forward to coming back in 2 weeks for my next cut.

Based on reviews and photos I saw on instagram, I decided that the barber Ozzy was the right fit. I was not disappointed. Upon entering, the shop was clean and very well decorated. It had a great color scheme and the music they played was great. The other barbers were in the zone taking care of their customers. I arrived a few minutes before my appointment but exactly at 6 my son was already on the chair. I showed Ozzy the way I wanted my sons hair to be done and he went to work. Ozzy took his time to perfect the look. As time went on, the smile on my son's face radiated. I could see him looking at himself through all the mirrors and his confidence skyrocketed. My son gave me a thumbs up multiple times throughout his time on the chair. Ozzy let my son pick out a bag of chips at the end which I thought was super nice! I could see that my son was comfortable. Without a doubt the best barber anywhere! Me, my 4 brothers and about 12 of our friends have been getting haircuts from Nam Le for over 20 years. He is meticulous, takes his time, never rushes the cut and gives you EXACTLY what you want. He is a true gentleman and is a rare breed. He used to work in Bethesda in the Bradley Shopping Center at the Bradley Barber Shop - he would literally have at least 2 or 3 people (sometimes 5 or 6) waiting for him, as 4 other barbers sat around reading newspapers and waiting for customers! It was crazy, he was immensely popular and that is probably what led him to open up his own place closer to his home. His new shop is tucked away on Metropolitan Avenue opposite the Train Station, its brand spanking new and he makes you feel very welcome! Go here and you will not be disappointed. I can't believe he only charges $12, seems way too low. I just leave him a big tip every time, which he always tries to return! Truly a rare breed. read more

I rarely write reviews. In fact, this is my first one! I highly, highly recommend this barbershop for millenials like myself and anyone that wants a cheap and nice haircuts! The shop is very clean did I mention the cuts are super cheap!!! The barbers have years of experience and specifically are very good at cutting Asian hair! Ask for Kim as she is the new owner of the shop. One of the inconvenience though is that the shop only takes cash. However, I give this shop and Kim 5 stars because the cut was so nice and cheap! It was only 14 dollars before tip! Most people carry at least 20 dollars in the wallet anyway. This is a rare find, and I certainly will come back for all of my future cuts! read more

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Thien Kim Barber Shop. i have been a customer of this barber shop for several years. Since i am mostly bald it is a CHALLENGE to get a hair cut that satisfies me. Someday barbers will be able to ADD hair as well as cut it...until then, this is my favorite barber. The barber takes her time and is very expert in cutting my hair (what's left of it) in a fashion that actually makes me look younger ... at least that's what i think : ) Also the cost of a hair cut there is VERY reasonable...so much so that, when i'm traveling, i will wait til i return to Kensington to get my haircut. Best haircut around and well worth your money. 12 bucks for whatever cut you want. I give a 20 every time because that's just what I feel its worth but Mr. Lee could be charging way more for the service he's providing His cuts are precise and he methodically delivers perfection every time. I was coming to metro barber for years and then moved out of Kensington into Washington D.C. I still come back and get all if my cuts here. After my barber move out of the area, I began a hunt to find a barber I gives a great cut and someone who is delightful. My search took to Olney, Rockville, Silver Spring, and, finally, Kensington. I am greatly appreciative of having someone like Kim to cut my hair because of her attention to detail and great personality with a smile.
