    Bug- the store cat
    Haley Z.

The store was kinda dirty and dusty, but it's set up kinda cute and you can clearly see everything. Mainly the profits go to a great cause, the animals, and everything is very cheap. Clothes was very organized and seemed like some good finds. I found a themed prayer candle that was only $2 of my favorite author. Makes a cute decoration. They have a store cat named Bug that is extremely cute and small. The man working clearly did not want to be there and was not friendly. A woman asked for help about something and he just kinda gestured to an area of the store. We tried to make small talk when checking out and brought up the cat and he just grumbled that it was the landlords, very odd. We had no trouble parking in front in the smaller lot.

If you're looking for another Austin thrift store to add to your go-to list, be sure you check out the locations Austin Pets Alive (APA) has to offer! I always find boutique treasures or quality vintage pieces to add to my closet. It is also nice to know that all net proceeds directly benefit the animals of APA. 2022 Bonus: if you're interested in shopping before the new year, be sure to go ASAP because the *entire store* is 50% off! But if you find this review in the 2023 new year, don't worry, as their prices are VERY affordable. Most clothing is under $10, with more rare pieces ranging from $14-30. Love APA! Please go check them out and support.

This thrift store is spacious, well organized and clean. I was surprised to see a very nice selection of wedding and formal dresses for under $100. I found their pricing to be all over the map. They have a really good deal on books and knickknacks, but their clothing is at least twice the price you would pay at Goodwill. I was surprised that if you check out with a credit card, you'll be confronted with a tip screen which you would normally associate with restaurants. I was told that you can return any item within seven days for store credit. All in all, as an avid thrift store shopper, this should be on your list and of course the cause is a good one.

Pure happiness after scoring such a huge haul for a fantastic price

Highlight of my day! I had some time to kill before a movie so I stopped in and was pleasantly surprised at the amount of incredible clothing that was available. Brands like Michael Kors and Allsaints along with vintage items that were super nostalgic to browse through. All in superb condition. I also found a few books for such a great deal, just $1-$2! Cannot leave out the best part, all of the proceeds go to the Austin animal shelter. What a great idea for an incredible cause. Totally worth checking out

I love being able to thrift and have it support such a great cause! Good variety of things inside, mostly clothes. There's also some pet stuff too, which was super helpful for finding a cheap cone for my dog! My best score of the day was a cute MK cross body. Decreased a star because parking in front is pretty limited but there's a bit of parallel street parking right across from the store.

    I love thrifting so much

It's also been sitting in my draft reviews for quite awhile (for those of you tracking). Started coming here a couple of years ago, around 2023 and just love it. It's a smaller store but they have lots of well-curated pieces and a really good selection of formal wear, dresses, skirts, jewelry, etc. I was prompted to take care of this draft review and a few others today because of a dress in the window here. A friend was recently in town visiting and asked that I go back and get a picture of the dress in the window. She is thinking about purchasing it (or having me purchase it and send it to her lol). Anyway, here's something to know: items displayed in the window have waitlists for folks intersting in purchasing. Anytime I have been in the shop, including today, service is friendly and helpful. The store is clean and the vintage pieces they carry are in pristine condition. You know what I like to say at this point-shop local, support small businesses!

Interestingly, the store combines vintage items with some modern items. For example, socks, some jewelry and sunglasses are non-vintage. While the store is small, it is easy to browse. In addition, clothing and shoe items are spaced apart where you can easily view them and ferret through the racks. The value of items are reasonably priced and some items as low as $5. I did not find anything I could not live without, however, I will definitely pop in from time to time. Also, there is a fair amount of free parking. The store manager was super helpful and personable.

While all clothing is vintage, there are a few modern items such as journals. The store manager was super friendly and made me feel I was the only one in the store. Anyway, I love Room Service and have been coming here for years. Long before I relocated to Austin from the East Coast. It's part of my North Loop Jaunt where I hit up all my fave places in the neighborhood every few months or so. Prior to relocating, I'd visit Austin twice a year and always made time to stop in. This is one of the most inspiring and well laid out vintage stores ever. You can just get lost for hours. So many ideas for home decor and styling. They've always got a grand selection of MCM (Mid-Century Modern) furniture and accessories. My house is 99% MCM. They've really just got the best collection of everything. Trinkets, knickknacks, patches, light fixtures, dishes, mirrors, art, clothing, records, jewelry...you get my drift. Service is so super friendly and welcoming. I am particularly fond of the pro-trans sign in the entrance window!! Everything they carry is in very good to pristine condition and pricing is reflective. With that said, the prices are extremely fair. I can't recommend Room Service enough. Support local. Support small business. Sustainability. Be creative.

I had a feeling it probably wasn't going to be my kind of shop, and I turned out to be right--but that's not a knock on the store. This is a really cool place filled with things you won't find just anywhere. If you're looking for unique vintage, antique, mid-century modern, or just plain unusual pieces, you'll probably have a great time browsing. Just don't go expecting thrift store prices. Everything is priced much closer to full market value, so this is more of a vintage boutique than a thrift store. I originally stopped in because I'd seen photos online of some beautiful vintage glassware and hoped to find something to add to my collection. Unfortunately, they didn't have anything I was looking for, and what did catch my eye was more than I was willing to spend. I left empty-handed, and it's probably not a store I'll visit again simply because I'm more of a bargain hunter. But if you're looking for distinctive vintage pieces and don't mind paying market prices, Room Service Vintage is definitely worth a visit.
