Great! After a day at Universal Studios Hollywood (a year ago), we walked around the City Walk and ended up inside here. The displays and merchandise both were outstanding. Everything was well stocked and clean. We spent about an hour in here looking through the various items. Really, there is pretty much something for everyone inside here. The overall layout of the store is great. Items can be pricey - depending on what you're looking at - but the prices here are no different than other places really. You can always price check items if need be. This was probably my favorite place in all of City Walk. I will be back soon enough and will check out this place again for sure. Recommended if you're in City Walk. Worth it to pay a visit, even just to browse. read more

As far as comics, not the best place to start your pull list because of the location, imo. Mostly statues, toys, and other novelties. Not a bad thing, but a lot of things are cheaper online. Cool, helpful, nerdy staff, so that's a big plus. I'd say peek your head in just in case you find a diamond in the rough. But a common hobby shop to visit? I just can't recommend. read more

Most of their items seem to be comic books, posters or figurines of popular video games, etc. Not my cup of tea, and the prices seem a little high.... probably because of the high rent area! Oh my gosh! Went in just to look around and found that these guys know their stuff! Now, I'm no stranger to things of the geek-trade, but I was entranced by their knowledge on a comic book title my daughter was curious about. This particular worker shared much about the storyline and explained how it transitioned into another different title entirely. Very cool. I complimented him on his storytelling skills. LOL! I felt lulled and even more intrigued. I didn't want the story to end! They should have a reading corner like in preschool. I would totally be there! Another staff member gave me some great gift suggestions for a Batman lover on my gift list. If there was a worker around, and there was always someone within an arm's length away, I could ask a question and get an answer that both stopped me short and excited me. It's such a refreshing experience to get customer service from a staff who actually cares about their merchandise enough to bring you into their world, makes you feel comfortable being there, even if you may have walked in feeling like a fish out of water, or as they say in Moldova, "like a dog in a tree". LOL! And I won't say that I even tested them at times, but well... Anyway, lots of fun. Walk in, you won't regret it. read more

This review isn't for the shop itself so much as their Away Team that they send to cons. It's gotten to the point in Southern California that your comic convention isn't quite complete until you have furries, a mysterious cloud of BO wafting through the exhibit hall, and booths representing Golden Apple and Things From Another World. TFAW's booth is really one of the places to be what with their tables just lined with graphic novels knocked down 50% with specials if you buy multiples. They're particularly competitive on the Sundays/last day of the con, when everyone is more interested in shopping and attendee numbers tend to dwindle. Some cons they'll sell you comics at a quarter of the cover price, and you'll see swarms of people around them, elbowing each other at the tables. Many of the books are marked "Scratch and Dent" as they have minor flaws and are thus drastically discounted. They also haul along a large amount of toys and figures, and I've watched people snatch those up with gusto, pleased with the price. At this last WonderCon, they were practically the official retailer of "Game of Thrones" merch since HBO's booth of the con was just a photo shoot set-up where they Photoshop'd your head onto a pike. TFAW sold me an official Hand of the King pin nearly $10 below what HBO wants on their site when you include shipping. Throughout the con, people wandered up to me to ask where I got the pin. I referred them over to TFAW, and they got excited remembering that's where they bought their cheap comics. As for their actual brick-and-mortar set-up, I echo the comments of people saying they're unfortunately having to cater to the tourists that make up the majority of City Walk's population. I just don't see it being a go-to for regulars, especially considering the steep garage prices. read more

This place represents how a comic shop looks to the eyes of the masses.. Ok, that's a lie. This place is less of a comic shop and more of a spencers lite. The new release titles are always there late or they don't order enough of anything. Figures since they wouldn't have any back issues. It's like going to a Sam Goodies or Suncoast to buy a CD/DVD. You're going to be paying more, the selection may not be very good and you're going to have terrible service. Yes, this place has a lot of toys from the nerd world, but they're all so outdated, overpriced and utterly messy because they don't clean or organized much that you're left with a mission to hopefully find anything you are looking for. The lay out of the store does make it interesting. The whole space ship seems really cool.. but once you get inside all you see is the corpse of an alien. What a mess of a place. As for their trade selection.. meh, I've seen better at a barns and noble. Not to mention they only seem to have a ton of Dark Horse books that no one wants. read more

Went to USH/CityWalk a couple days ago and this was one of the stores I was intent on visiting. I had only been here once when I was a bit younger, and remembering it being a fun experience, hence why I wanted to come back again. Sad to say it didn't turn out to be the experience I was hoping it'd be. Right when I walked in here, the employees at the register locked their eyes on me like I was going to rob the place; maybe because I had a backpack on, I don't know. Kept on browsing, trying to look for something that'd catch my interest, and still, eyes locked on to me. So I decided to look at what was at the front counter. Eyes were still locked on, but not so obvious this time. I'd look at them, and they'd look away. Without saying more, I wasn't comfortable shopping in there. Three stars because I simply love CityWalk, the selection of action figures and graphic novels were pretty good, and the store itself is now wider and more spaced out. I may come back here the next time I'm in CityWalk and try to remember to leave my backpack in the locker before I come in here. Maybe my experience will improve then. read more

Pros: Tons of really cool stuff! The hubby collects Deadpool stuff and the staff knew their inventory really well. They also knew what items might be available at Hot Topic next door. We ended up getting an epic t-shirt and some Yoshi lip balm that is quite tasty (and priced the same as regular Chapstick from Crow's Nest... I leave my balm at home a lot.) We were driving from out of state to go to Universal Studios and called from the road to see if they carried any Hot Toys. I spoke to Giullermo who was very helpful and actually set aside a couple figures for us. We arrived hours later and upon going to the cashier, we informed him we had a couple figures reserved for us. Giullermo came over to the front desk and said he saw his coworker grab those boxes and wanted to come over to meet us. They were very nice and had Hot Toys at retail prices, not inflated at all. The coolest thing about this shop is the crashed spaceship looming above you as you walk in. It's very small but boasts a decent collection of comics and collectibles. It is definitely geared towards whichever movies are playing at the nearby theatre, or whatever Universal is promoting at the time, but that is to be expected since it's Universal City. They generally have cool T-shirts and posters for sale in the back but everything else is pretty generic. Don't expect to find anything obscure or hard-to-find, just popular issues and what's hot right now. read more

What a great shop for the comic book lover! In a rather small footprint, this shop boasts a respectable selection of titles as well as a wide range of gifts and paraphernalia (the legal kind, you silly). Not just the standards, either - they usually have a good selection of the classic Universal Monsters available, too (what with Universal Studios and being on the City Walk). Prices range from a few dollars to several hundred so, anyone on any budget can find something to tickle their fancy. Such a neat store! If you like super heroes, comics, video games, and movie memorabilia, this is the place for you. My husband loves this store. I was looking at all the cool female super heroes (Wonder Woman, Cat Woman, Super Girl, etc.) although some of them did not look at all how I remember them growing up. The figurines (locked in glass cases) are about $70 and up. I saw something from The Terminator, Robocop, and Iron Man (these one were in the $$$- hundreds). I also saw video game guides. TFAW has been my favorite store at City Walk as far back as I can remember. I always love to come in and Geek Out even if I don't have enough $$$ to spend on cool stuff I really don't need whether it be Comics/Graphic Novels to some Collectible, T-shirt or action figure. Note to the wise...if some of the things I mentioned above are not your cup of Tea, then I suggest not to come in. Also, my biggest and only Gripe I have with the store is that their prices are usually Jacked up, and some of the items could be found cheaper Online, or at other stores. ...Still, every once in a while, there is that one Cool item I'd like to pick up right then and there. Some people have complained before that the shop is a bit small, but it's not an issue for me. read more

Great place to find comic books except parking kinda sucks but what's in it makes up for it in my opinion. Decent selection of comics and a not too shabby section of NECA action figures. Love to stop by this spot after work since I work at uni. I do feel like since they changed locations (they are now located in a larger spot where game stop use to be next to the city walk AMC theater) they are disorganized. The shelves that hold their comics seemed oddly spaced out, and figures can also take up spots on shelves below books. Maybe its just because I am not use to the new spot yet or they haven't completely settled in yet... The employees are for the most part very friendly and helpful and are knowledgeable about what they carry which is a huge plus. Of course there will be that one employee that has the personality of a crouton and seems very unapproachable, but good thing they are always well staffed so you can ask someone else. They can be a bit pricey with the figures that you can get online cheaper, but they can also carry great deals on figures that are cheaper than online! Just got to know what you are looking for when you step in. You must stop by when you come to city walk! *also a huge note: at some comic book stores you can get glaring looks from employees that make you feel like you don't belong in the store. This place has really gone downhill. When it first opened it was a real comic book store which sold cool stuff . Really cool stuff. Now it sells some cool stuff. And some comic books. I understand why though. It caters to tourists and not to local customers. Too bad. Having said that, you can get a replica Thor hammer or Darth Vader lightsaber here. What you can't find is an issue of Amazing Spider-man #33 with the famous Ditko cover. read more

I purchased an overpriced figure to get it a little early than retail stores would get them. When I got home I opened the figure and there was a missing piece that could not have been seen by looking at the package opened. When I called to tell them, A fellow by the name Randal answered and told me that I cant return or exchange it because I opened it. He said "Check the receipt." The Receipt says "15 day return policy. Please read Store Policy Before Leaving for Returns or Exchanges" So lets add that up. I'm supposed to go into this store thinking that I need to return the item before I buy it? What's that say about your merchandise. He told me towards the end of the call that "If I returned it he couldn't sell it." So I have to keep this broken figure becuase you cant sell it, seems to me you just did sell it. I used to buy a lot of stuff from that shop. It was my favorite store at Citywalk, but this bad customer service has turned me off for life. read more

This is a pretty cool Comic and Collectible shop part of the Universal Citywalk. The Spaceship outside is awesome looking and they have a good amount of Graphic Novels to choose from as well as loads of toys and collectibles. The prices are a little high for some things, but they do have a lot of Dark Horse comic stuff that you can't find other places. Also have a great selection of T-Shirts and posters as well (usually you can get some sale prices on that stuff). Love checking this place out whenever at the Citywalk. Would probably go more if parking for Citywalk wasn't so expensive! read more

Do not buy anything here unless you're completely sure you want it. Came here looking for some spiderman related comics for a cousin who's big on collecting. Found the Spidey verse hard cover collection. I paid 82 dollars for it. Turns out he already owns it, they bought it for him off if Amazon for 47 bucks. At this point I'm a little aggravated since I bought it for twice the amount. No big deal its still in the plastic wrapping and I bought it the day before I should just be able return it. Pulled out my receipt and lo and behold all the way at the bottom it states 'no reading material can be returned' but under that it also says 'items must be unopened to be returned'. I figure its worth a shot to call since its unopened and I bought it the day before right? I call the store and they tell me after asking a few questions the best they can do is exchange it for an item of equal or lesser value. I frankly didn't want anything else from there. They ended up telling me there was nothing they could do. I'm out 80 bucks. Definitely won't be returning and I'll be sure to buy from online from now on. read more
