Their selection is very comprehensive: ranging from Western superhero comics, to alt comics to manga horror. The store is very clearly divided, so the monthly comics are stored on one wall and the trade paperbacks and hardcover editions in the rest. I really enjoyed the minimalistic design: the white walls emphasize the colorful volumes much like a gallery space would its artwork. The clerk on duty was pleasant and helpful as several people came and went in the short time I was there. Comics are typically priced by publisher, so it's unlikely you would be surprised by the price of any of the inventory. Will definitely return.

The majority of the toys and artwork is for sale. The founder and owner, Gino Joukar happened to be there, and he was very kind and engaging. He and I chatted for about five minutes and before I left, he gave me his business card, a sticker pack and a small toy. It was very classy, and professional of him. I definitely recommend visiting the Toy Art Gallery to anyone who is a fan of designer/artist designed toys, as well as anyone who likes contemporary underground art.

I remember like one or two years ago I had come asking about where to go for some Krakoa-era trade paperbacks, he remarked that for these, since they're out of print that he'd only really seen this when they'd be collected in an omnibus soon. Lo and behold, Omnibuses were announced and released for Dawn of X, etc. Can't sing this place's praises enough. Joe has an expansive knowledge of books new and old, and never makes you feel unwelcome.

Sega Pop-Up Shop @ Anime Jungle…read more I had a great time checking out the Sega Pop-Up Shop in Little Tokyo at Anime Jungle! The pop-up runs through August, and while the main focus is Sonic the Hedgehog, they also have merch from Persona and Yakuza. Going on a weekday with a friend was definitely the right move--we only had to wait a few minutes to get in. Upon entering, staff hands you a ticket, and employees closely monitor the room while you browse. The shop is exceptionally well-organized, making it fun to look through all the beautiful, high-quality items. Since almost everything is directly imported from Japan and hard to find in the U.S., the prices are definitely on the higher side, but the exclusivity makes it worth it. I couldn't resist picking up a miniature Shadow the Hedgehog plush! The only downside to the visit was the customer service at checkout. The two employees at the register were busy chatting with each other, so I eventually had to speak up to ask if I could check out. The employee who rang me up seemed annoyed by the interruption, skipped any friendly greetings or questions about my visit, and just handed over my item after scanning it. Despite that brief hiccup at the counter, the overall experience was super positive. It was so fun wearing my Sonic shirt, seeing all the Japanese exclusive merchandise, and taking in the atmosphere. I highly recommend swinging by before it closes at the end of the month!

No problem--I started looking for another item to add since I was planning to spend more anyway. As they started to announce the store was closing, I asked if I could quickly grab cash from a friend outside the store and was asked, "Can you do it in 3 minutes?" This same associate was managing the customers going in to the store and she seemed to have issues remembering people's faces. I understand the store was closing, but the interaction felt rushed and unwelcoming. I was still trying to make a purchase and likely would have bought additional items, but after being treated like an inconvenience, I decided to leave instead.

Superman. Marvel. Bruce Lee. Figurines, bobbleheads, comics, and my favorite, the owner's artwork, signed, starting at only 15 bucks. I spoke to the owner about art, artists, vintage comics and starting his shop during the pandemic. Super nice, friendly, talented, it's exciting to find a new place like this, filled with great deals, icons and heroes. I walked out with a prize picture for my wall, and a skip in my step. You might miss it since first time around it's harder to spot. But there's street parking. The store is big, not huge, clean, cool decorated with great posters and fun displays. It is enjoyable to browse, many toys and collectibles, some a tad too new. Prices vary, from reasonable to more expensive, based on the items, it makes sense. This isn't a store just for children although they have regular toys. For collectors, not the coolest items ever, but worth checking out. Nice customer service. As frequently as we're there, it's easy to pick out toys for our kids for birthdays and holidays. Usually, our oldest finds something he likes and plays with it every time we go in. We know that's a winner and save up to buy it for the next holiday or birthday. So far, we've picked up a vintage Disney Trivia for mom, a Little People Batman play set, numerous little cars, and Rex from Toy Story. Up next will undoubtedly be something from Pixar's Cars franchise.
