Thips is by far my favorite Thai place! I used to live in the metro east but since have moved to St. Louis and I still have not found a Thai place that compares to Thips. It's beyond worth the trip. This is my first time here and omg!! I loved it! The service was excellent and the food was delicious! I ordered the Spring Rolls and Thai Fried rice without eggs and the spice at 2. Been here a bunch of times as I live nearby. Their prices are a little high and their lunch menu is a bit limited for my taste but I usually get the pad rou mit with tofu and it's always hot and consistently good. Thips is my go to when i need a thai food fix. At my previous job, we had a standing lunch date there every friday and it was something i looked forward to all week. I do not make it in there as much as I would like to now but I ate there last week. For lunch, the Prig Sod with Chicken is always amazing. Fresh vegetables, chicken and white rice. Their potsticker appetizer is delicious, the sauce they serve is the best around. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try! read more

My family and I have eaten at Thip's many times and have found the food to be exceptional. I especially like their Cashew Noodle dish. The summer rolls are the freshest I have ever eaten. My youngest is very picky about what she eats and loves the Cashew Noodle dish also. My wife likes the Pad Kee Mao because it's sweet but still has a little zip to it. My son on the other hand loves the fire of the Red Curry. When we visited Thip's it was extremely busy. read more

Best thai place we went to in the area. This is based on price, portion size, customer service, and restaurant cleanliness... oh, and if they were kid-friendly :) We never had any issues here and the staff was great. We went here over the course of five years and agree that the food did change slightly over the years. However, it wasn't worth us not going there, that's for sure. read more

Moved to the area a few moths ago trying to find great thai food. This place was good. Tom Yum Goong is my go to order to compare places. Right color, spice, and flavor. However the menu doesn't have it with noodles, so I had to order a side. That plus a small glass of plum wine pushed the bill up. My husband and I are so happy this place is located right around the corner from our house!! If you're looking for authentic thai - this is the place. I always get their Pad Thai w/ Tofu (1 star spicy) and my husband gets the Pad Kee Mao w/ beef (2 stars spicy). The portions are generous, the flavor is terrific, the wait isn't long, the price is right! The inside decor/ambience is not amazing but it's kid friendly (bonus points for us!) and there's plenty of seating. So... 5 stars from us! read more

Food was amazing! Yelp reviews helped me pick out my dinner, and i was certainly glad to have the help on electing a spicy level! So much variety, our server was so very helpful and was able to explain different entrees, food was amazing and so were the Thai beer options! I've been to Thailand and have seen the golen icon for Singha in its authentic glory! NO ONE in the midwest has this but this place! I've been a regular customer since the original Thip's. I'm still sold on the food and the friendly and casual atmosphere under the new ownership. My favorite is Kang Karee (Chicken Curry with Potatoes) and Chicken Satay (Chicken on a stick) with Peanut Sauce and Pickled Cucumber condiments. The owner introduced an appetizer called Lumpia Shanghai which is a Filipino appetizer. It's similar to Egg Roll but it has a delicate wrapper encasing ground meat and shredded vegetables. Yummy! There are several unassuming Thai food restaurants on this side of the River and I think their cuisine is competitive with those in St. Louis. read more

I think the food is great. I had the plain fried rice and the lo mein very good. I love their chicken potsticker. First time trying lumbia and it was tasty. The wonton were ok but I ate the wrapping it was good. The star of the show was a sauce that was like a sweet and sour but had a kick. Now that was some a1 goodness. I usually get the packaged sweet and sour and I asked her about them. They were over with the soy sauce and chop sticks. She put 4 packs in my bag and I must say they will collect dust because that sauce they gave me was delicious. But hey I don't see a lunch menu. I need a lunch special read more

Thip's appears unassuming from the exterior strip mall front. However, the food is consistently good. I started out ordering "safe" options because I can be a picky eater-Sweet and Sour Chicken or Orange Chicken, which are amazing! However, over the years, I have branched far out to various dishes and I have always been very pleased. My husband, the foodie, loves their menu. The food presentation is beautiful and tasty. My husband and I usually have enough leftovers for a second meal. The ordering style is similar to Chipotle, you pick your dish, then your protein which can include chicken, tofu, veggies, pork, shrimp, or beef. read more

Best Thai food I've found!! I always regret it when I go somewhere else! The chicken Kai Kapao is my fave, along with the pad Thai and the Tom Yum soup. But I have never tried anything there I didn't like. The basil herb fried rice... pad prig sod... oh and the egg rolls. You can't go wrong. read more

Service: 0 I called in for take out and the first time no one answered, which I should have taken as a hint. When I did get someone I placed an order, after which, without being told my total, I was promptly hung up on. When I went to pick up the food they didnt know who I was (probably because they didnt ask for my name when I placed the order). I paid what I was told I owed (never got a receipt) and was promptly ignored. No menu, no napkin, no forks, in fact I still dont know what each item I purchased cost. I had decided to eat here after eating Thai food for the very first time at Aroy Thai. I loved their food, but I read online that Thips was cheaper and better..Gotta save a few bucks right? Well from what I can deduce I save about 6 dollars, but Aroy tasted more like clean authentic asian cuisine (I have dined in Singapore and Malaysia). I ordered potstickers online and requested they be steamed. Walked .75 mile with my child to pick up my meal then walked back home. I got home and found that the potstickers were fried, not steamed. I called and asked if they could make steamed potstickers as I requested. They admitted that they input my order incorrectly and advised I would need to return the fried potstickers to get the steamed ones I ordered, even if that meant me walking another 1.5 miles round trip. I was really hoping they would just let me send somebody to pick up the correct food and bring it to me. Instead, I had to ask somebody to go out of their way to pick up the incorrect order from me, take it back to the restaurant, wait 10 minutes for the correct order to be made, then drive it back to my house for me. You would never guess this little place at the end of a strip mall would be amazing!! They have a great variety to chose from and even offer small bites of French fries and other American foods for those that are picky. I have a sensitive pallet and was worried about hot spicy food but they cook on the heat system, you tell the which degree 1-20 that you desire Each meal is made fresh and exactly the way you wanted it. I am crazy about the Pineapple Rice! It's a huge portion so plenty of leftovers. Combining fresh snow peas with cashews, shrimp, and pineapple is one of the best I've ever had! My son loves the orange chicken level 4 with a Thai Tea that is sweet and creamy. My oldest enjoys cashew shrimp very mild and likes to add extra rice to bring home with leftovers. The staff is very prompt and helpful. They explain the menu and helped us narrow down our choices We are lucky enough to live close by and can run in often. Having moved here from the Thai mecca of the Pacific Northwest, Thip's Thai Cuisine could definitely use some coaching in decor, service, and price. Thumbs up for the food - great spices and flavors - which was served without much of a wait at all! The servers and staff were all friendly and welcoming, and the initial service was good. But thumbs down for the we're-finished-eating-please-give-us-our-check portion of the experience. Also thumbs down for the bland decor and the prices. I mean, when you pay $9.99 for just a basic dish from the dinner menu and $4.75 for four tiny spring rolls the size of your pinkie finger , you would expect there to NOT be old-school, metal-backed conference/waiting room chairs for your dining experience. And the heavy-plastic covers on the tables were a bit tacky, as well. This restaurant is fairly new to the area (2005, I believe); a second location (their original spot) is in nearby Belleville. I'm definitely glad that this place is here, as I love Thai food... and there aren't many Thai places around unless I drive over the river to St. Louis. Hopefully, Thip's will improve in time. (I'd urge them, though, to check out other Thai restaurants and web sites for some tips on pricing, decor, and furnishings!) My fingers are crossed! *Side-note - The owner, Thip, is currently in the hospital with cancer. I wish her the best and hope the restaurant doesn't become just a memory! read more

I had no idea there were any Thai restaurants in the Metro East, but hey, what do I know. The service here was incredibly good. Someone refilled my drink probably every five minutes. Our meals were on the table within a few minutes of ordering. I had the red curry with chicken, and it was delicious. All of the food can be ordered with a spiciness rating of 1-4, although, my friend asked for the "lowest level" and the waitress said "ok, 0" so maybe there's also a no spice level. There weren't that many people actually eating in the restaurant, but many people came in to pick up orders while we were there, so I suppose it's a popular take-out spot. read more
