all nice honest people stay away from this mechanic this is not a fake review --i spent 500 $ to do a tune up and fix the computer reprograming --as the car was losing compression---thinking ok go back to this mechanic i went to a year ago right?? he told me the car ( in great condition by the way--needs a computer reprogramming and spark plugs ok fine 500$ two days later i pick car up not even 20 mins later the car loses power i return back ---he gives me a lame excuse note i am a nice customer respectful then he says he fixes it and refuses to give me the break down of bill to show the dealer for the bill he charged me 500 $ !!! and he refused to write on the bill the break down --i asked the owner 3 x so respectfully and nicely please so i can ge the money back from the dealer who sold me ths car --he stood there and refused to cooperate---his associate mechanic a worker stood by embarrased --worse i went back now will be the third time !!!!-- to fix the engine light that keeps coming on this is is a rip off and be aware stay away from this garage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they are very dishonest and be warned !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

It took me a long time to write this review as this is a bit personal. So Valentino is a friend my dad knew since they worked at PepBoys over 30 years ago, and I was at the time wanting to go as far as sue him, but because of my dad and their past friendship I decided not to, so I cut my losses at very very close to 4000.00 dollars, yes FOUR THOUSAND and parked my car for 2 YEARS maybe more up until just 2 weeks ago the last week of May 2020. Me and my dad are troubleshooting at the moment today is June 7th 2020. So I took my 93 LT1 Camaro to VM Auto Mechanics on third in Chula Vista about 2 years ago. My dad said Jose and Valentino where stand up guys who did good work, expensive but would do the job right. The main issue was the car shutting off unexpectedly during high revving as well as when you would hit a pothole (during road vibration). He had my car about 3 months maybe more. When he gave it back to me each time the car would leave me stranded and ended back at his shop AT MY EXPENSE each time so he could rectify the issue, so yes he charged more each time! This was at least a half dozen times in and out of his shop him stating it's fixed. Yeah the tow trucks loved me ;). He was annoyed as was I. Each time he gave me the car it was the same issue a blown coil and intermittent shutting off. Some of the times I would get only a few blocks from his shop and there it was shutting off due to road vibration or high revving (Its a z-28 with a new engine build done by Jacobs Engine rebuilding on Hoover in National City, they installed a crate motor; and stage 2 clutch by Southland Clutch; and supposedly a stage 2 t-56 rebuild AKA 6 speed manual tranny that Valentino was doing), so he did NOT build the motor I paid for that somewhere else, motor hits hard :). On my way to work I was left stranded on side of freeway, this is when I had it. No more! I cut my losses parked the car in my driveway very upset (about 2 years). Valentino could care less, he was happy not to have to figure out the issue both Jose y Valentino, WHICH HE CHARGED ME FOR, NOT CHEAP!!! Some of the four grand went to my transmission rebuild (Stage 2 supposedly) which he outsourced for 1,100.00 plus the parts which I had to pay for, which I cannot prove without opening it up wether they installed the carbon fiber synchros as he did not provide receipts for the parts. He also was to replace the fuel pump which failed within 3 days and that he did fix but I paid for towing. I hope he sees this review. He knows who I am and my phone number has not changed if he wants to contact me 619-86*-****. I don't expect him to want to make things right but as long as you can read this review and see my number you know he did not bother to even contact me to attempt to make things right. I cannot find his website, but when it was up he boasted about fixing the most hard to find problems. Started my vehicle 2 weeks ago and finally admitting to my dad what this guy did, needless to say it upset him. My dad is retired and used to help Jr. across the street from La Bellas. All the mechanics know each other. Just painting a picture they are all friends/acquaintances. I really hope Valentino and Jose think every now and then of how they took my money and did not fix or even find the issue. I will be updating this review once me and my dad figure out this bug in the car. I wont tell you wether to go to his shop or not, but this is my experience with my car and Valentino/Jose. They knew what they where up against but saw dollars in me. They knew how badly I wanted this vehicle restoration to be complete in the sense of running and racing it around town reliably. You see Jacobs did the engine build, but they did not rebuild/fix transmissions. I purchased the clutch from Southland Clutch myself. I bought all the parts with the exception of the fuel pump and battery on my own and walked them in to Valentinos shop. The 4k was PURELY LABOR AND NOTHING ELSE. Valentino, I dare you to respond on YELP and say I am lying. I am an Engineer and do not need any FREEBIES. I work hard so I can play hard. This is on your conscience. This is not how to do business. I got screwed by these guys. BTW before I parked the car I was able to trace the.blowing of coil to bad wiring on the pigtails and splicing and replacing took care of that but not intermittent shutting off. Update: So I replaced the key and tumbler with each from the dealer as well as the electronic ignition switch under the steering column today June 11 2020. Had a locksmith program the chip on key, the car no longer shuts down intermittently AND THE SECURITY LIGHT IS NO LONGER ON! read more

As stated by the other reviewer, the place is clean. Valentino was professional, answered my questions, and addressed my concerns I was quoted $140 for front brakes and an hour later they let me know that I didn't need them. The rear brakes were dirty and all I needed was to have them cleaned/ serviced. I asked how much was left on the front pads and he walked me back to the car and showed me. They have more than 50%. The price was now $65 for the service. So far- they're working fine and much less brake noise. Ill return!!! read more
