When we went to pick it up I thought we'd get hit with a large bill. Not the case, it was a minor issue. The cost was super decent! I went in for an oil change on February 6. Everything seemed fine until today, when I opened the hood to add windshield washer fluid and found a dirty rag left behind in the engine bay. This is extremely careless and dangerous. I'm very disappointed in the lack of attention to detail and basic safety. I went to Becka on a referral by a friend I told them my problem and scheduled a day and time to drop off my vehicle, which was a Wednesday They were supposed to get back to me the next day but I didn't receive a call I called them multiple times and they didn't answer or respond to my voicemails Finally on Friday afternoon I got an answer and was told I had a bad alternator and cam sensor Ok , fine , fix it please I told them I was told it would be the next day It wasn't! I tried calling them Monday and Tuesday without an answer or response to my voicemails asking the status When I went to pick it up , they were charging more than agreed upon The check engine light was still on and they told me it was going to cost $2500 to start diagnosing it and no idea how much more it would cost To top it all off, there's a plastic cover missing off the engine and they say they didn't remove it I wonder how they changed the alternator and cam sensor without removing it Beware of this place read more

WOW is all I can say to your response! I am not one to insult, however maybe your staff should learn how to read an odometer they are Kilometers! Picture attached, maybe that goes back to how your company is dishonest! With regard to your very poor taste comment hope I can save up to repair the vehicle I am without words. As I told you I have many cars AKA dead battery I do not plan on driving it especially with covid no need to fix a car that will continue to sit. I do not know why I am even entertaining this however I will add pictures of my driveway / garage and you can decide if I can afford the repair. I was interested in purchasing a used car I found on craigslist. In order to make sure that the car checked out I searched for a local mechanic that could perform a pre-purchase inspection. I was quoted $156 by Becka Automotive for what I was told would be a 2 hour thorough inspection. Upon completion of the inspection, I was told their findings. The main thing I wanted to address was the tire sensor flashing on the dashboard. The tires were in good condition, and the seller informed me that the reason it was on the dash was because one sensor needed to be replaced but he wasn't sure which one it was but that was something the mechanics could easily find out. For some reason, they said it wasn't possible to locate which sensor needed to be replaced. They advised me to just replace all four. Why would I do that when it's only one or two sensors that need to be replaced??? I think they thought I would get the car repaired with them after the inspection??? I took it Superior Automotive repair and they easily told me which sensor needed to be replaced. This place sucks. Don't use them. read more

I found Becka Automotive while looking for a Oil change near me while in the area, Jiffy Lube had quoted me a price however, their reviews made me look else where. I spoke with Robert who was extremely nice and gave me a quote over the phone and was able to schedule me that same day. Their oil change can take 1 hour to an 1.5 hours. I'm use to it taking 30 minutes, however Roman at the front desk did explain they check everything in detail, which I appreciate. They have a waiting area in the front where they provide water bottles :) and magazine that you can take home if there is one you like. So nice! After all was done, they told me everything looked good, even told me they checked my brakes which were still good and which tire needed replacing. read more

When all was said and done they were under the quoted price which was fantastic. I drive all the way to Chula Vista from La Jolla area because I trust them. Examples: 1. They go the extra mile: A mechanic on the team took the time to completely clean my engine bay with high-pressure air after finding dead mice. Then, he and Robert took time out of their busy day to explain to me some of the terrible things they have seen as a result of having mice under the hood and all of the ways I can prevent them from nesting there. This all happened a day after Robert called me and spent 15 minutes to answer all my questions and explain how the repairs he was suggesting would fix the problems I had been experiencing (manifold gasket causing rough cold starts and hiccups until engine was at temp). I would have given them negative stars if I could. This shop diagnosed my Sequoia to have a broken AC condenser and compressor clutch and advised me to replace compressor as well since it may break pretty soon. I double checked their itemized estimate which totaled almost $2600 and found that prices on part were almost double as compared to oem parts from Toyota online parts parts store. Owner explanation was that he quoted me for the msrp but when I asked him if he can't get the sale price as reflected on the online store, he stopped replying! I brought my car to another mechanic and only replaced the clutch on the compressor and AC forks fine now. I only spent $490 vice $2600 from this. There is NOTHING wrong with the condenser nor the compressor!!!! This place may be respectful up front but DISHONEST inside! What a rip off if I had them repair the AC unit! Do not be fooled by their feedbacks as I did. I ended up spending extra $205.68 for their dishonest diagnosis! What a scam! Beware!!!! read more

I am an out of state student that found myself on a major bind after going to my internship down at the Chula Vista Court House (South Bay). I called my father that is very knowledgeable about cars and told him I heard a clicking noise coming from the engine. He told me to check the oil level on my car and not to take it on the freeway at all without making sure I had some. I called them on Thursday morning when my car was making the worst kind of noises. They were busy and had no appointments and at this time I had expected the worst from my car due to large noises coming from the right side of the engine. I was expecting to not get in until Monday and in retrospect I'm glad it didn't get to that point. In any case, promptly Dan had called me back letting me know that there was a mechanic that had come back from being sick and that there was time available to at least diagnose the problem the same day. Not to mention, at the time my serpentine belt was sliding off apparently. Someone had done work before and didn't tighten the bolt up but thankfully only damaged that one pulley. The first time Dan had started the car in order to move it into the garage for inspection, the pulley came off so I was incredibly lucky that day. Once I had gotten the car there, Dan gave me an estimate for what it may be and what it will cost. He had ordered the part needed the night before so it got there early the next day, and by noon I had my car back up and running. And each time there was a change in what needed to be done with the car I had always received a call to let me know what he thought and what he wanted to do in conjunction with that. Parts and labor is relatively the same but great service is more than I could've asked for. Perhaps it is like those moments in movies where someone gets saved and they begin to imagine their savior as some sort of angelic personification. Or when people are taken hostage and due to the time being under their thumb they begin to identify with the criminal. I was looking through reviews that I've written and can't believe that I've not written one for Becka Automotive! They've been our family's mechanics for over 10 years and we've consistently gotten great service from them. What I most appreciate about Becka is their honest assessment of needed repairs - Robert will tell me what is necessary to get done now, what can wait, and what to watch for. Though it's not what I want to hear, he recently told me that the repairs necessary on our "senior" car were prohibitively expensive and that we should not have them done but should replace the vehicle. I really appreciate that they put the customer first. If there's work that they aren't able to do, like an all-wheel alignment or transmission replacement, they recommend a reputable shop to perform the work. While I wouldn't knock them a star for it, it would be nice if they were open on Saturdays too, but they put their family first, which I respect. Robert's wife, Debbie, often shuttles customers and is pleasant and friendly. All of the employees with whom I've come into contact at Becka have been polite and friendly.
