Been here a couple times when coming down for work. Great people / atmosphere and food.

Wonderful warm restaurant and very high quality food! We ordered the salmon and ribeye and ate every bite! The pimento grits were so tasty I even ordered seconds! We were lucky enough to meet one of the owners while shopping around Martinsville and went in and had lovely service and night out. We drove about 20 miles out of the way from where we were staying and it was so worth it! Wish we were staying longer so we could come back and eat there again. read more

I'd give Third Bay a full five-star rating but for a couple of niggling points, the main being that their hours -- virtually none on the weekend, except for Friday night -- make it fairly difficult to actually catch them open. On those rare occasions that I am in town on Friday night, I'd certainly make it a point to have dinner here. It absolutely pays to make reservations because the place is quite small and can only accommodate a limited number of patrons at a time. And since Friday is prime dining out time, it does get crowded. I've had several lunches and a couple or three dinners here, and the food is consistently excellent. This evening, I ordered filet mignon, medium rare; it was just the right size (8 oz.) and perfectly cooked. The salad was large and very fresh. Sides consisted of fresh, crispy green beans and cheesy mashed potatoes, all quite good. For dessert, Third Bay specializes in chess pie, and if you've not had Third Bay's chess pie, your dessert experience is dazzlingly incomplete. It's heavenly. The wine list isn't extensive by any stretch, but they offer a few whites and several appealing dry reds -- all relatively inexpensive. For Martinsville, Third Bay's prices might be considered a bit upscale, but they're really quite reasonable for the consistently excellent quality and serving size. In general, I've had very good service, though tonight it struck me as a little spotty, possibly because there was such a good crowd. Our first server seemed a little awkward, and he vanished midway through dinner. However, the young lady who took over was assured, courteous, and prompt. Overall, Third Bay is probably THE best little place in Martinsville; it's just not as easy to dine there as one might like, especially when you're usually limited to being in town on Saturdays and Sundays. read more

I most often get Third Bay for catered lunches at my company's Martinsville office, although I have eaten in the restaurant before as well. For catering, they provide us with a couple of trays full of assorted sandwiches and wraps, pickles, coleslaw, chips, and assorted cookies. Although, I think they can change the menu to fit your needs. Everything is pretty good, but the baked goods are DELICIOUS! The cookies are so soft and flavorful. My favorite is the Heath Bar Crunch, but you can't go wrong with classic chocolate chip! When I've eaten in restaurant, I've gotten the chess pies. I brought 3 slices to go, to try the chocolate, coconut, and classic...I can't pick my favorite, but I enjoyed getting a bite of coconut then a bite of chocolate to make a sort of Almond Joy flavor. There are more extensive menu options in the restaurant than just the sandwiches and wraps for catering, if you want something a little different. Everything I've had is very good! read more

This is by far the best restaurant in Martinsville. The ingredients are fresh and everything is cooked properly. The owners are also very sweet and go out of their way to make sure everything is above and beyond. Everything cooked well but flavor combinations horrible. They labled a salmon dish Mediterranean because they put feta cheese on it. Bummer.

One of the few great places to eat in Martinsville. Awesome wraps and salads! The staff is sweet and attentive.

I try to come here when I am in town for work. The food is fairly basic American but good, better than anything else I have found in Martinsville, and I'd definitely rather support an independent business than one of the big chains. They have a decent wine list and beer list. It's a little off the main drag, but worth the trip. read more

Best restaurant in Martinsville & Henry County! While they have a limited menu everything on it is delicious. It is the place to take guests from out of town or when you just want a great meal and friendly service. Their staff is very accommodating and they offer a full bar and homemade desserts. While their evening hours are a little quirky they are open M-F for lunch. read more

This little place is amazing!!! I'm from the D.C. Area and didn't know if I would find a great restaurant in Martinsville but this restaurant will NOT disappoint! The seared scallop appetizer was cooked perfectly and the blackened shrimp quesadilla was amazing! There isn't a lot of "presentation" quality, but who cares? The food more than makes up for it! It's my "go-to" when I'm here. Love it! read more

Great place for weekday lunches. I can't say that I have a favorite sandwich as all are delicious. Their salads are generous in size and offer a good variety. The steaks are our favorite entree for evening meals. read more
