Went to see them put on a production of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. It was FANTASTIC! Every score and actress were into the part and gave it their all. RHPS depends on audience participation but it is guided by the MC and the cast, they did so well. Drinks were reasonable priced, water was $2 a bottle! Heck of a price for a venue! Bartenders were busy, professional, and courteous. First show I've seen there, and I'm looking forward to going back. I believe they are looking for a bigger, more purpose built venue which will be nice as this one is a bit small for more than 60-80 people. Happy and will be back! read more

This is a comedy club. It will be moving spaces in the summer though. The building is really cool though if you can get there before they relocate. It's right by Marathon Music Works. My friend selected to come to the Third Coast Comedy Club as one of her birthday activities on our recent trip to Nashville. I was not looking forward to going here, but was pleasantly surprised and had so much fun! The night that I attended, the audience wrote down song titles you've never heard before. The comedians drew the song titles out of a hat and performed a musical style song. They were creative, talented and funny! My favorites of the night were "Ferrets in my Butt" and "Ring of fire". The comedians who performed had amazing singing voices and were so theatrical. The audience then selected their favorite and the comedians performed a full musical in the second half of the show. The Comedy Club also has a full bar and food so that you can grab a bite to eat. I tried the pizza and it was delicious. Bartenders Stan and Jen were chatty and provided top notch service. The only thing that I did not enjoy were the seating arrangements and chairs. The folding chairs were very uncomfortable and the seating is extremely close. We bought the total Access Pass and used that as our ticket. The pass limits where you can sit. You may not sit at the tables until about 15 minutes into the show. It wasn't an issue in the end, but if you want space or a little privacy, reserve a table. Outside of that it was a wonderful night. I would definitely recommend the Third Coast Comedy Club if you were looking for something different than your normal stand-up comedy. The impromptu comedy was fun, involved the audience, and I am sure that no two shows would ever be alike. The next time I am in Nashville, I will definitely come back to see another show. read more

I love everything about third coast. If you're looking for a good laugh come on out and enjoy a show. Great value for the price and makes a great date night or outing with friends. They also have classes so if you want to try your hand at having your own comedic fun - you can! Along with improv they also have other comedy classes and workshops. My favorite show is "Smashed" - the players take shots as the show progresses and they get tipsy. Sounds like it would be a train wreck but it's awesome! We got tickets using the all access city pass. We weren't sure to expect. The club is in a great location at Marathon Motor Works. They have a bar and a few snacks. The staff was friendly. I got a wine and popcorn. The space is small which is nice. The comedy was unexpected. We didn't realize we were attending an improv session and children would be present. I'm sure that's my bad for not paying more attention. I did get some good laughs in but we opted to leave at intermission. read more

Came here to watch the Third Coast Comedy Show on a Saturday night, and it was great! Parking was easy, free street parking. Showed up about 15 minutes before the show and there were still a good amount of seats left (we did buy tickets beforehand though, $20 total per ticket), were asked for name to check the tickets and ID for drinks (if you're not drinking alcohol, they mark X's on both hands in marker, otherwise you get a stamp). 1.5 hour show in a pretty small, intimate setting. Performers were great, they did short-form for about 30 mins, intermission, then about 30 mins for long-form. Really funny and a lot of audience participation for prompts, as it should be. Based on the reviews, I had decent expectations. The location is easy to get to (via rideshare) and the place looks really cool - it has a ton of automotive/industrial decorations. The bar is small but adequate. In a party of four, we upgraded to a table. The show began and it had five performers. Two of them seemed to know what they were doing, another two were trying, and the fifth must have been a student with the lowest grade. So much of what happened wasn't funny - not on that day, not on any other day, not with more or less alcohol in the system. I felt that the venue had a few trainees but things simply did not gel (at least that night). read more

Drag shows. Most are just men in dresses lip syncing the current hits and scrounging for dollars. Comedy Clubs. Most are two drink minimum affairs where you're packed in tight and watch stand up act after stand up act. Some funny, some you can't wait til it's over. She-Haw. Well She-Haw is some else entirely. Yes, these are men in dresses lip syncing, but they are playing it up, not taking themselves or the act too seriously, and getting lots of laughs along the way. It's campy, funny, and at these prices - bargain entertainment. It's not a comedy or improv show so reset your expectations. It's just damn funny drag. The venue itself is chill. Not your average comedy club. Honestly, most comedy clubs are a bit uptight, serve overpriced drinks and the service and food sucks. Not here. You'll feel right at home, and it won't break the wallet. We liked it so much, we started mapping out the other shows we want to see there. I've been to Third Coast twice now and have loved it both times. It's located next to Marathon Brewery and has a good amount of parking available. The venue is really fun as you walk into the main building and make your way to the back. There is a ticket booth that you check into and are then led into a side door where there is a decent size bar and a few tables. They do have same bar food like nachos and such, but also have candy and popcorn that you can take into the theater. The performance is located in another room that is both large enough to not feel cramped, but small enough to still feel intimate, which is a good combo for an improv show. I've been to their normal short and long form improv show, as well as Jokemon. Both were good but the regular show was my favorite. The comedians are very talented and make the show fun. I would and have recommended this place to others and will be back myself. Of note, the cost is variable but about $10 per show, which is totally worth it. They often invite you to stay for the next show as well if you're up for it. read more

Seriously so much fun! My husband and I are new to the city and were looking for something different to do for a date night, and this place fit the part perfectly. We went to the improv show (they have many different shows on different days). I had never been to an improv show before tonight and let me tell you, it was hilarious. If you ever watched the show "Whose Line is it Anyways", that is a good comparison to the improv show. So funny. The actors were great, the cocktail I got was good (Heather cocktail), and the atmosphere was nice. It's a more intimate setting, but I personally like that. I went to Third Coast with a friend last week and had a great time. It's a small venue (located within Marathon Music Works) but that can make for a more intimate experience! When they open the doors, you can hang out in the bar next to the comedy club. You can buy tickets online or at the ticket "booth" when you walk in. There's no dedicated parking, but I quickly found street parking just across from the entrance before a show on a weekday night. It was a fun evening! read more

REVIEW OF SHE HAW, A FILTHY/GORGEOUS COMEDY DRAG SHOW AT THIRD COAST COMEDY CLUB If John Waters directed the Queens on RuPaul's Drag Race, it would look something like the campy, vulgar, subversive, self-deprecating, and undeniable hot mess of a production titled She Haw at Third Coast Comedy. One should expect the outrageous from an event with hosts called Tammy WhyNot and Anita Coxx, whom last night emerged as a pair of blindfolded Sandra Bullocks (from Birdbox) for an eye-popping performance. It isn't classy, but that's what makes it uniquely, uproariously funny. At the beginning of each show, Tammy asks the audience if anyone has ever been to a drag show before. No matter the response, her full-disclosure follow-up is always the same -- "This isn't that." She couldn't be more right. You may see a Queen wax poetic about sex toys, as a sexy-scruffy Lexi Von Simmons did with a parade of increasingly-larger anal plugs while lip-synching to Adele's "Someone Like You." The humor can be a little more subtle, like the understated-yet-suggestive performance of Ruth Brown's "If I Can't Sell It, I'll Keep Sittin' On It" by the sultry Thierry Meisel. You could witness a Law & Order-style musical interrogation, complete with the infamous gavel clang, with the statuesque, flashlight-weilding Amber Waters miming the lyrics of a tune called "Smell Yo' D*ck." Ridiculousness aside, these ladies aim to entertain, not enlighten -- and that's what makes this troupe of awkward, unconventional Queens so appealing. If you prefer picture perfect make-up to perverse parody, go to Play. I'll take these filthy fairies over poise and polish any day. read more

Stand-up comedy is HARD. I give props to all those with the courage to get up on stage and be *that* vulnerable in public. I'd never want to do it. That said, the stand-up at Third Coast was very enjoyable. There was only minor second-hand embarrassment and more than a few deep belly laughs. It's encouraging to support different forms of art in Nashville. It's my hope that the Music City becomes more of a haven for all sorts of creative pastimes. If you're looking for a laugh, come here. Located in the Marathon building, Third Coast offers both improv and stand-up comedy options. Because I find improv to be super hit or miss, I opted for a night of stand-up. I bought my tickets online and in advance because that's what you do if you don't want to look like an a$$ night of a show because it's sold out and you can't get in. Prior to entering the stage venue (open seating) make sure to take advantage of the bar (on the other side of the wall). There's only one and it gets very crowded, but if you time it right (not at intermission and not right before a show), you should be able to get a drink fairly quickly. The bar has a fair number of local brews and spirits. You can get anything from a whiskey and cola to a craft cocktail. Prices, too, are lower than you'd find on Broadway or expect at a venue like this. We came for the Hateful Best Friend show. It's a collection of stand-up comics. Each comic has a ten minute or so set and the show is moved along by the host (who opens with a set). For close to two hours, I only saw one sad set (oh, so sad), one cringeworthy (please learn to read a room), a few -_- sets, and a lot of genuinely really funny sets. Usual host Benton Ray was a standout (absolutely hilarious) and there was a steady stream of very funny Atlanta comedians showing their stuff (ugh, Atlanta; you always remind us of how much bigger you are in everything). During the evening I was there, there was only one heckler (it didn't end well for her or the comedian). Everyone else was having a good time and the energy to/from the audience was positive and healthy. My first time at Third Coast will lead to a second. The events held here are also top notch, Benton Ray, one of our favorite Nashville comedians, puts on a great show monthly. Interestingly enough 26 years ago I knew a completely different Third Coast Comedy, but that's another story. This is a review about the children's show they do once a month. I wish it were more like once a week. It's chaos. Brilliant and loving chaos with kids rushing the stage, singing, suggestions, and a weekly attempt to explain what a Polaroid is for one of the recurring segments. The segments work, or they don't, the audience is one of the most forgiving you've ever had for an improv performance, and there's more participation than the performers may be comfortable with sometimes. There's a steady stream of parents removing their kids from the stage, or in some cases putting them on stage. The two performances we've been to are not quite what I'd go for in an improv sketch, but I don't think they're going to perform an entire Harold for an audience that's between two and 10. There's a sketch format portion of the show Racoon Log Ride that damned if that song doesn't get stuck in your head. Great fun for the little ones, the non-little ones will get a kick out of it as well. read more

I'm on a 'Ladies Trip' with my mom and some other ladies of the family. Since we're from Kentucky and don't know the area, we trusted Yelp for advice and found Third Coast Comedy Club. SO happy we went. It was a GREAT PRICE for general admission for an hour filled with a lot of laughter. To quote my cousin, "I was laughing so hard at one point I couldn't breath." She said it, but we all thought it. I've never given improv comedy a shot before, and now I'm glad I finally did. It was a great start to our trip! read more
