Dive Bar is exactly what the name implies. No more, no less. It was exactly what we needed after exercising my credit card at some of its neighbors. Though only one bartender on duty, so it seemed, we got our round and (3 drinks - $12!) And grabbed a seat. There's nothing pretentious about this place, and that's why we loved it. Be sure to bring cash. You can pay for your drinks with a card, but not tips, which the bartender make well known to all at one point. read more

would've been 4 stars if the "doorman" isn't crazy. i'm not familiar with the rule of not leaving with your drink. this doorman was trying to get my attention but he wasn't dressed professionally so I thought he was a bum on the street. he proceeded to yell at me when im walking away like "hey lady, Hey Hey" then yells "your going to jail HOE" in front of many patrons? this could've been solved if you came at meh with better communication. I confront him he doubles down on what he said, again, in front of many people. I finished my drink in front of the facility while the "doorman" bragged to me he is "certified"? defiantly certified in being a jackass. i chatted with the manager and she assured me she will talk to him. i'm leaving this review for future reference when this man ultimately crashes out on his power trip. Nice friendly dive bar. There are several regulars that hang out here to 3 or 4 am. Drinks are good, but a little light on the pour after the first one. Bartender and manager were obviously drunk and took a 20+ minute cig break, leaving the bar completely unattended. I asked barback for help and he told me the bartender would "probably" come back soon. I asked bartender's friends for help and they said the same. All I wanted was a couple more Miller lites. Eventually I just wanted to close out my tab and leave. Literally no one was in charge of the bar. I could've made my own drink I guess. It became pathetic/funny after awhile. Took forever. Came in last night for a quick drink. An absolutely lovely place! My boyfriend and I had a blast. The bartender was kind and genuine. There was quite a few good drink specials, especially for the location downtown. Everything was incredibly covid safe, they even are doing their own contract tracing! It's a dive bar, which is what I love about it. My biggest gripe is the service. You have to stand in line at the bar to place an order (no worries). Unfortunately, the only bartender treats the bar like his personal social gathering. Standing in the relatively long line, waiting to order, I watched the bartender heavily engaged with the seated bar guest (talking and doing shots with them). Seemed completely oblivious to the people waiting in line. Eventually gets around to the first person in line. Serves them, tells his life story and then starts conversing with his friends sitting at the bar again. Can't imagine the money being lost simply because people can't place an order. Hire a second bartender or find one that actually wants to work. On the bright side. They're open after everyone else closes. Beer is good and relatively cheap (if you manage to place an order). read more

Cool downtown area dive bar. Cheap drinks & pool table, too!! I'm not a Karaoke person, but if you are you'll love this place.

We were visiting Louisville overnight and stopped in around 9:00 looking to sing karaoke and have some fun. We had the best time! The people were friendly, the refreshments were cold and competitively priced. I don't know the name of the karaoke DJ but she did a great job, especially when she sang! She even had some of the staff come up and sing. Overall the place has a great vibe. I met people from my home state (Ohio), some folks from Michigan as well as some who were more local. The crowd was diverse in both ethnicities and age. The DJ had every kind of music that people wanted to sing: Rock, pop, hip-hop, country, etc.. (One guy even sang a classic Kiss tune.) There is also lots of room for people to dance. If I ever stay in Louisville again, then I will definitely be back! read more

If you're in town for only one night, you need to stop in. Darts, pool table, pinball, karaoke and cheap beer, this place has it all. We were passing through on our way home from a road trip. The friendly folks here made us feel right at home. 10 song runs of the Beatles karaoke, local vibs that kept the party going all night. Pretty cool place. Small but nice. Stickers everywhere lol. I ordered 2 adios motherfuckers and a tequila sunrise while my boyfriend was recommended the beer Holy Grale by the bartender which he ended up loving. Definitely a dive, but that's not a bad thing. Here on a Wednesday night and it's pretty empty and quiet and not a lot to report on. I will say it's a nice sanctuary from the tourism of the 4th Street live area. I will check out this place again when I'm back in town and see if the vibe is different. They get zero stars! The brunette female bartender who refused to give her name was the rudest bartender I have ever encountered. We sat at the bar and then a group of guys walked up so she waited on them. When I said something I was told I was being rude and what did I expect from a dive bar. She then refused to wait on us and said this was her side gig "boo", when I told her that she would have gotten a really good tip, she then called me a bitch. This is never ok, I did not deserve to be called a bitch, no matter the circumstances . She should not be in customer service. This is only a local bar, if you're from out of town, don't expect to be treated like a paying customer. I have never ever been treated this way. But I guess if you have boobs, then don't expect good service from a female bartender here. My opinion do not ever go to this horrible establishment. Somehow I have lived in Louisville since 2001 and I am just NOW getting to Third Street Dive. I joined some coworkers here on a Thursday night for karaoke. The first things I noticed about this place were that it was very dark and cave like, even though it's street level and they have 2 pinball machines available for play as well as a pool table in the back. All of these amusements accept quarters. :) The beer list was reasonable. Bottle selection as well as about 6 beers or so on tap. They have a full bar of course and looked to offer some specials on all drinks depending on the day. The guy running the karaoke was very friendly and helpful in setting up an app that allows you to select your songs from your phone instead of the old pen and paper drill. You can tell the Thursday karaoke thing is a normal around here. They were prepared and had no issues getting it rolling. I noticed how well the microphones worked without having to constantly fix them as you do occasionally at other karaoke joints. Kudos for that! I am glad I can say I have been here. Crooked Beat Refuge was playing and the place was hopping! What an excellent mix of people tonight! Dancing and great tunes! The lead singer John Weis was killing it!
