This was a company outing and we had lots of people from out of town in for a conference .. we had the whole upstairs to ourselves and THIS is what we had to show them!!!.. a trashy place with floors coming up in multiple places... dirty games that didn't quite work right. (I played a game for 75cents then played the same game right after and it cost a dollar??) Huh?.. ok.. Pool tables haven't been cleaned in YEARS!!!.. half of the pool sticks didn't have tips on them (replace them.. why are they even still on the racks???)... my coworker said the wine was so bad he walked across the street to another bar to get some descent wine.. They don't care so much they had a sign posted up stating "They don't have two F*$%'s to give!?!?!?!... REALLY!?!?!.... And this is a Business in a what is supposed to be a "tourist destination"... THIS is how we represent The Ville now???? I honestly would have gave them ONE STAR.. BUT.. because the people I was with made it a good time .. I give them Two Stars.. Walking downtown with my group we stumbled upon Tavern on Fourth. They were closed so we just sat outside and chatted for an hour before they opened. I wish I would have read the reviews earlier then we would've gotten food while we waited since they don't serve food. It was ok though, we just went to grab food and were able to bring it in and eat. This is basically a place to play games and drink. Since we arrived at opening, it was pretty empty so we had 1st pick of games. I pretty much spent majority of my time on corn hole (champion here!!). Tavern is located at 4th Street Live and sits on the second floor above Sports and Social. It's worth the walk up the staircase even if you have to pause a minute to catch your breath! The space is large and houses two bars, booths for eating and several games, including arcade, cornhole, bocce ball, pool, darts, oversized Jenga and more. A patio overseeing 4th Street is available but if smoking isn't your thing, it's not the most ideal spot to hang out. The menu is basic pub food - decent for a bite but nothing you're going to crave afterwards. Their bar selection is extensive though with the fully stocked bar. There's not a lot of beer on tap but plenty of bottles. Tavern does offer rentals for corporate events or parties. You can rent a section or secure a full buy out. The space is awkward for events that serve meals or involve a casual presentation but if you're looking to do appetizers and cocktails it works fine. The pricing increased for rentals (since two years ago) which doesn't make it as competitive with other venues and communicating with their event planner was overly difficult. I could only catch her via email and time between messages lagged. I ultimately took my business event elsewhere. read more

I feel like if Tavern on Fourth were in the Highlands or St Matthews, it would be a massive hit. It is a huge place. Has a lot of fun games like beer pong, cornhole, ping pong, arcade games, shuffleboard, and the like. The food is decent. The drink selection is also different. 4th Street Live is just not a destination for locals. If it were, this place would be a hit. But it's not, so it's not. My mom and I stopped by here when we visited Fourth St Live this past weekend. The was a bluegrass band playing on Fourth street. We caught a glimpse of some amazing seats on the second level balcony. What a great view of the show and to watch and listen. We were met my a super friend hostess! What a breath of fresh air! She walked us up to the second level and we located a table on the balcony. She was super helpful to grab a towel to wipe down the table for us. Our waitress came out to get our drinks. I asked for drink menu, the waitress shared they did not have one? OK? We asked what their specialties were, and again, she said nothing really. We can make whatever you want. So my mom ordered her normal sweet tea & I ordered a Woodford & gingerale. It is super hard to hear the band from the outside seating. Inside tavern, they play more club music, and it's super hard to hear the music in the middle of Fourth street. I suggest sitting on the street level patio instead, if you are there to listen to the concert. We ordered an order of nachos and shared it. It was a great portion. The service needed more attention. I do not think it was busy at all in there, but it took until the end to refill my moms tea, which was empty since we received our food. I was never asked to order another drink either. The company (my momma) made up for the service. The place is cool for free games like corn hole, an extra large connect 4 game, shuffleboard, ping pong and more. This is just not a place we usually frequent, so we were disappointed. Maybe a younger crowd. It's your normal bar food, was disappointed with the lack of focus around drinks and service. A fun place to have party events. They have a lot of fun games in their upstairs area for people to play. There is a pool table, bocce ball, skee ball, corn hole, giant Connect 4, and many other arcade games. There is two bars upstairs for easy flow of getting everyone their drinks. There is a great balcony that overlooks the street. During our work party they had food catered from Smokehouse across the street. It was all delicious. The space is large and there is plenty of activities to keep people partying for hours. read more

Zero is my review. Absolutely the worst place I've ever walked in. My wife, my adult daughter and I walked in the front door of this empty bar... zero people sitting at the bar. The door person said it'll cost you $10 cover per person to sit at the bar. I said we are going to drink $200+ and we have to pay a cover charge at an empty bar? Stopped in here after a cocktail class across at Jim Beam, and had a good time. It was early on a Friday so the place was mostly empty, but that made it that much better. Happy hour included $2 beers, and most of the games are included for free. Our larger group played ping pong, corn hole, darts, bocce, and more. A great place to play....games that is! Skeeball, pinball, pool tables, darts, shuffleboard and more.... Two floors, plenty of bars to quench the thirst from attentive and friendly staff. Beware...no Coors or Miller beer. However, they have a full bar and made a tasty and strong hurricane. Happy hour specials include 1/2 off appetizers from 4pm til 6pm. We tried the spinach artichoke dip and give it a thumbs up. We will get wings next time because they looked awesome. Fun to sit in the balcony area and people watch when you need to take a break from all that play. The crowd age was a good mix of young and older so anyone should feel welcome. I've gotta admit, Tavern was a lot different from what I was expecting. Fourth Street Live bars are pretty crazy and sloppy, with loud music and in nearly pitch black lighting. However, Tavern is almost the complete opposite. Just up the stairs from S&SC, you can find a large area with a bar in the middle, as well as fun games to play like beer pong, cornhole, jenga, pool, and darts. Unlike the other side of Fourth Street, the people here seem to be much more sober and tamed. After I have had enough at PBR/Tengo, it was nice to come over here and just chill on the couches with my friends. The bartenders here are super nice and they tend to have open bars quite often. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back here soon! read more

I was a little nervous about trying this place after reading a lot of the negative reviews on here, but I have to say I had a great experience! My husband and I went here for a Thursday night date night and we had a blast. There are a lot of free games such as corn-hole, bocce ball, shuffle board, etc. and there are also some pay-for arcade style games, such as ski-ball. I had the jalapeno cucumber margarita and it was really fresh tasting, and not too sweet either. For food, we tried the lobster tacos, calamari, and brisket sliders. The lobster tacos were really good, the brisket sliders were ok, and the calamari was pretty bad (no flavor, overcooked and chewy). The service was great! The main bar upstairs was a little crowded so we went to the bar in the back, as it was less crowded. Afterward, we went out on the balcony to listen to the 4th Street Live concert. While in town for the weekend my boyfriend and I visited Forth Street Live as any tourist would do. We were looking for a drink and ventured up to the second floor. We chose Tavern because the other two bars were pretty dead still since it was only about 9pm. We ordered two drinks at the bar and enjoyed them on the balcony while people watching. After a bit we went inside and played beer pong and pool. As the night went on the DJ got louder and louder as all the the bachelorette parties started to file in. They are knowledgeable on their bourbon and they also have a great craft beer selection. We had a great couple of Old Fashioneds, some good IPAs, and a couple of sipping bourbons. Tavern, the bar on 4th Street unlike the others, is a place of fun with corn hole, arcade games, billiards, a jumbo-sized Connect 4, a jumbo-sized Jenga, and many more games to entertain yourselves. The drinks cost about as much as all the other drinks on 4th Street do (in other words, a bit overpriced unless you have a happy hour (which is good at all the bars except for HATM)). I haven't tried the food at Tavern, but I plan to one day. My friends and I don't usually spend a lot of time in Tavern. It's usually our last stop, and if we end up there, it means we're pretty well done for the night. We just chill in the comfy chairs by the jumbo-Jenga and wait for our uber to pick us up. All the bartenders are very nice and attentive. I left my purse at one of the bars inside Tavern one night, and when I went back for it, they had put it away in the safe so no one would steal it, and went to get it for me. It's a laid back, fun, no-pressure atmosphere, where anyone (drunk, sober, or anywhere in between) can have a good time. The only bad thing about Tavern, in my opinion, is that it's upstairs, directly above Sports and Social Club. The main stairs between the two bars can become kind of dangerous once you've gotten a few drinks in you, so make sure you use the buddy system (and have a sober-ish person with you). read more

After going back to The Tavern a few times for cocktails and games I had to give an update and an extra star. In my previous review I mentioned that the drinks were a bit pricey, but now I can say that isn't the case. My husband and I went twice over the holidays and I had a great house pinot grigio for $4 a glass and he had craft draft beer for $4-5 per pint. Not bad at all. The bartenders were friendly- my fav is Jason-and the service was good. My only warning- if you are playing games and sit your drink on the table beside you- be aware of the guys cleaning off tables. I had a half glass of wine taken away twice. The bartenders gladly poured me anouther glass at no charge. read more

Lame! I'm visiting and was looking for a decent bar. The bar tender was lame. No buy backs by the way. 7 dollars for a beer is a little steep. Typicality this wouldn't be an issue if I was in Manhattan. If you want a lame experience feel free to go to this bar. It's got potential. Seating is on second floor outside. Pool tables and games. But the staff doesn't know how to run a business . Sad. There will be another bar here in the spring I'm sure. Winter is coming guys. I recently had the pleasure to check out this spot for a special event with New2Lou. I was impressed with the size of this place and just how many games/entertaining toys they have. Arcade games, bocce ball, shuffleboard, corn hole, ping pong...lots of stuff. I also thought it was neat that they have lots of small tables set up on the balcony. Nice spot on a perfect day, I'm sure. The food that I sampled was all really tasty. Mini soft pretzel sticks, beer cheese, spinach dip, chicken wings, etc. The drinks were tasty and I was glad they had some cheap drink specials going on for the event. I would definitely go back for another fun event. I don't think this would be a great place for just you and one other person, but awesome for a group of people to hang out together. read more

I have been here a couple of times and would definitely go back for their drinks during Happy Hour. Regarding the food, I was not impressed so I would not go back for that sole purpose. I came here on the night they opened, which was the same night O.A.R played 4th Street Live. The bar is in the location of what was supposed to be an L.A. Fitness many years ago, (or some type of globogym), but from my understanding the floors were not strong enough for all the work out equipment so that never came to fruition. Well why not turn it into a bar! It's directly above Sport and Social and accessible from the elevators, however that required a $5 cover. I noticed upon leaving that there is an entrance on the north side of S&S, however not sure if that requires a cover. It's not entirely worthy of that yet in my opinion. The concept is awesome. Large open space with an assortment of tailgate games such as corn hole, and bocce, as well as pool, and arcade games. Think Diamonds type concept with more options. There is an out door deck type area to overlook the lower floors on 4SL or smoke if that's something you do. Drinks were good, however they were priced for 4th Street. The cool thing is they served cocktails in short and tall mason jars the entire time I was there. Not sure if they change to plastic at all, but glass! Sustainable! Mood and lighting was nice. The upper bar and seating area almost reminded me of a swanky NYC bar with more space and not quite the same clientele... PBR is across the way I guess. It was the first night though, so I'll have to visit again to really take it in. I didn't order food or look at the menu in depth, so I can't comment on that. When we sat at a booth to drink though, a server was there within seconds and another one came along to see how we were doing later. We continued to order at the bar, but it was a good sign to see quick and friendly service. I'll need to plan another night to come back. I do hope the business survives. It's a cool spot. Inside the bar they have pool tables, corn hole, foosball, ping-pong, sawdust bowling and a small arcade. There was also a nice balcony overlooking Fourth Street. Adam was our server- he was great. A group of four ladies stopped in for dinner and drinks before heading to a concert downtown. Although it was around 6 on a Saturday night this place was pretty empty. I have to say that after eating the food I can see why. No one in my party really enjoyed their food aside from the beer cheese dip and pretzels. Buns for burgers seemed stale, burgers were "overcooked hockey pucks" (according to my friends) and the lobster taco was a little rubbery (but shame on me for ordering a seafood dish in the heart of the Midwest!). Luckily this place has a check-in deal with Yelp so you can at least score a discount on your food. So what this place place lacks in good food, it makes up for in yummy drinks and friendly service.
