If you think it's okay for employees to WASH THEIR GLOVES and then get made fun of for asking them to change into new ones then you're going to the right place! Make sure to go when Frankie is working then and he'll make you never want to set foot in the store again - hygiene and customer service wise. It's taken a sec for me to collect my emotions into words about my interaction with him that happened here. But all I can say is I'm disgusted it happened in the first place. Not only was he wearing the same pair of gloves for multiple financial transactions before mine, but he was also making drinks in between as well, all while wearing the same pair of gloves- comfy! My issue is when it came to me ordering a bagel, which I never should have done. I asked him to change into a new pair of gloves when starting my food - understandable. He did so, made the comment along the lines of 'you're the first person to complain about the gloves' and I said 'probably cause people aren't watching you make their stuff' He then proceeds to make more drinks and touch more surfaces before my bagel was even attempted. So I was going to ask him to change it for a second time BUT NO I was too late because I hear the sink turn on and I'm hopeful he's just washing his hands but when he turned around HE STILL HAD HIS GLOVES ON?! Who does that?? In any food service job I've heard about you CHANGE your gloves multiple times - never WASH them???? Like what?? And as he turned around I was just shocked and asked if he just did that and he instantly caught an attitude. I said it was disgusting and asked if he could change them AGAIN and when he did so he was trying to get under my skin and proceeded to ask if he could touch things on the counter - "this is clean can I touch it though? Of would you want me to get new gloves?" "can I touch this is that okay?" Etc etc. Surprisingly enough the owner was there that day. Very sweet and polite. And I tapped her shoulder and asked if employees were supposed to change their gloves or WASH them? To which she replied change them (of course) no one is supposed to wash their gloves. I then proceeded to turn around and point to Frankie and say "well idk who that is but he just washed his gloves and got mad at me for asking him to change them" to which she did nothing... didn't even want to say anything to him...just turned around and left. I was told by Frankie when I finally got my bagel (which he dragged out the process of to piss me off) that anything he touched and was on the bagel would be cooked off and that if I have an issue with how he did it to not return. And I haven't. Because if he has been there for multiple years and is considered 'seasoned staff' still doing that nasty stuff and displaying such horrible customer service then I wouldn't be surprised if he's tainted other employee's ideas of cleanliness, hygiene, and respect. Frankie from Third Street and Stuff, I hope they fire you. That way I might actually want to go back and proceed to be a customer again without fear of nasty gloves touching my food. read more

Really enjoyed this adorable coffee shop in Lexington! Worth a stop. Very friendly service & great coffee.

I love this place!!! They are following safety guidelines and have Clorox wipes and hand sanitizer freely available to keep areas clean. They also make sure that all seating areas are well spaced from each other. I highly recommend the Monkey (I prefer it iced) and the Olive Nut Sandwich. The environment is warm and welcoming to people from all walks of life. I personally enjoy bringing a laptop to get some work done while I'm there. read more

Ooooooooohhh! Look at all the pretty colors! Seriously. So colorful. The art! And the yarn bombing on the trees! And all the items for sale and on display! So much.... STUFF! Also, free WiFi, a decent amount of seating, drinks, and food. I ordered a chai tea latte (topped with whipped cream and sprinkles) and... GASP! They have Cheesecake Factory cheesecake here! It's been years since I've had one of their cheesecakes and I just had to have a slice. So I did. Because I am awesome and deserve treats once in awhile. Ego aside, the cheesecake and drink were good -- the perfect companion to a rainy afternoon here with my laptop. Why not five stars? Because, well, the place tries a bit too hard. Underneath all the color is a regular ol' coffee shop with regular drinks and some cool extras. I honestly felt a bit overwhelmed and was a bit eager to leave. The fact that I have dreadlocks almost implies that I should love this place, and I felt some kind of invisible pressure to fall in love, but I didn't. Third Street Stuff and Coffee is a wonderful find in downtown Lexington. It's a brightly colored painted coffee shop and immediately catches your eye whether you walk or drive by. The outside is covered with art, positive affirmations, and quotes by famous authors. Inside is more of the same- whimsical, bright, and colorful. There is definitely an emphasis on social justice issues which is perfectly fine with me. There is a variety of espresso drinks and non-coffee drinks on their menu. Bonus point- they can make any hot drink cold, which isn't always the case with other coffee shops that I've been to. My husband and I ordered the man killer iced latte which was delicious. It was the right amount of sweetness. They also had a case full of pastries which looked delicious. Staff was friendly and patient while we decided what to order. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in Lexington. read more

No one can deny this place is cute as a bug's ear. The cozy set-up and vibrant decorations give this place an atmos like no other spot in town. This wild look bleeds onto the exterior, making their patio arguably the coolest place to sit for a book and a bevvy on a spring day in Lex. They also have messages of inclusivity emblazoned anywhere they can fit it, and truly unique art inside which is refreshing with there being many conservative-owned coffee shops in town that are too cowardly to ruffle the feathers of bigoted/pearl clutching clientele. The message of love they convey through their cafe's appearance is exactly what i like to see in downtown Lex. If i have so many positive things to say about this place, why is it my least favorite coffee spot in town? A reason i've seen reflected in several other reviews. The customer service. Not once in ten years of intermittent visits have i ever experienced positive customer service here. At pretty much any other cafe in Lex, i.e. Common Grounds, both North Limes, Coffea, Cup of Commonwealth, i could go on, i have had consistently lovely interactions with the employees. But never here. I'm not expecting them to sing me a song and give me a daisy. I just don't prefer for my coffee order to feel like i'm a parent asking my surly teenager to clean their room. And i'm not even talking about during rushes. Perhaps if they were slammed i'd understand the curt, dismissive attitudes, but nah, this is dead hours. As a former barista, i know it's not that hard to be pleasant, even during rush. Went today as I hadn't been in probably a year, and it's conveniently up the street from my bf's place. Same deal. Why 5 stars? Because I was mistaken before, this place is my favorite. --- --- --- Work has taken me to Lexington twice in the past few months, with three more trips to come this year. That being said, I needed to find my go-to coffee shop, and Third Street is the hands-down winner. Comfortable seating, tons of unusual drink options, and friendly employees. Based on the coffee alone, I'd say this is a great place to stop by. The quirky decorations inside and out make this coffee shop very unique and a wonderful place to study or have a good chat. Whenever I am in Lexington, this place is one of my go to's. The coffee here has an authentic and local taste therefore any specialty drink here is delicious. May I add that the prices are also very affordable and not over the top as with most local coffee joints. Definately a cool interior and exterior, but sadly the service was only so so. My sandwhich was extraordinarily bland and as i munched and looked at my companion's sandwhich (we ordered the same thing) I realized mine was missing ingredients. I went back to the counter, and the staff member assisting me was helpful but completely distracted. I told her the issue and she went to get the other ingredients for me, only to stop halfway through the task at hand and start chatting with some other people. Completely unprofessional especially after you already made the error. In addition, staff seemed confused about prices. I overheard on cashier say "Uhh I think a dollar sounds right." And on top of that i was overcharged for the cheesecake I ordered even after the cashier went to check the price. This is a really cool coffee shop tucked into the neighborhood next to Transylvania University. It's colorful, has cool people working there, and has a wide variety of coffee offerings. Unlike many coffee shops, this one offers almond milk, which I prefer over dairy milk, so it gets extra points in my book. My wife and I stopped in with a friend one day while passing through Lexington, and I was really glad we did. We pass through often as we travel, and I'm glad to know of another local coffee shop where I can get a good espresso. There were several people sitting around inside and outside on the patio, which shows that it's popular with locals, and it seems like the perfect place to visit with a friend or to sit and read. I was only there for about five minutes, so I can't say much more. But I will definitely stop in again when I pass through Lexington. read more

What's not to love about this place? I've never had a bad experience here. My daughter also loves this place. I went with a friend for lunch and ordered the Club with a side of grapes. I have always loved the ambiance and overall atmosphere...inside and out. The owner is super friendly and I've never encountered unpleasant staff over the years. This is my favorite free wifi, not too busy, colorful place. I don't like coffee but there's always other "stuff"...you liked that pun, right? Ok, my comment was lame. One time I had a mint/white hot chocolate that I thought about for days. Most of the time, I just get a bottled soda and kick back on the couch. Across from Doodles, it's in a good downtown location. Usually in that area, parking is an issue... not here, they have their own parking lot. They have board games and cool people. So, out of desperation, I stopped at Third Street Stuff even though I really wanted a more substantial breakfast place. WELL...turns out what I REALLY wanted was an everything bagel with olive nut cream cheese. Sure, my blood sugar may not have thanked me five hours later when I didn't have access to a proteined snack, but boy did my tummy and taste buds! My kinda heaven- Good cappuccinos, good tea (they even have roasted yerba matte) and fresh food including great vegetarian/vegan options. Woot!!! Not sure why it took me this many years to make it here. I almost feel guilty for not becoming a regular customer earlier. Staff working here are probably some of the nicest people in town. Inside can be a bit loud at times (music) for getting readings done but I put on my headphones and worked away on my laptop while enjoying the freshly grilled veggie burger that was a great find for a coffee shop. I think what steals my heart is the outside seating area. Colorful benches lined up and my view includes the fence of Love Locks for Lexington, a small birdhouse that has free books to read, beautifully decorated brick walls and my favorite part, the trees decorated with knitted/crocheted items... This place is great, very intricate and colorful. I came here with friends to chit chat and had ordered the turtle brownie which they warmed up for me and put whipped topping. It was very delicious and rich, perfect with plain coffee. Of course I opted to try some of their creative drink options, which was Isaac Murphy and it was very tasty. this has been my favorite coffee shop for awhile, but i'm just now finding the time to write a review on it. third street stuff highly deserves the title of best café in lexington, and if you haven't been you're clearly missing out. from the extraordinarily kind staff, to the insanely delicious sweet treats, this place will highly pass any expectations you had before walking in. the atmosphere is what's best of all. even if i've had a stressful day, the kind quotes plastered everywhere & the lively colors and decorations make all my worries go away. i wouldn't prefer eating anywhere but here for a quick snack. my personal favorite, turtle brownies, are the prefect touch to any drink. the chocolate practically melts in your mouth, and leaves the most desirable after taste. the bio degradable straws are the best part, just in case you forget your metal straw. love the consideration of the earth ! please eat here, you won't regret it ! read more
