Have enjoyed WL for years. A few months ago stopped in and it smelled like mold. Tonight went back for the first time since that visit. Still smells like Iike mold, service nothing great no one knowledgeable, but our attempt at sitting at the bar was a joke. 4 seats actually had people, 4 had boxes in front of them and the one I attempted had liquid in the chair and wet rags under the seat. Has gone from a must go to place to a must avoid place. Hopefully they figure their s$&* out it used to be great. Selection has gone down hill, service and knowledge is worse, atmosphere is terrible. As someone who used to be in 2 x a week and recommended to everyone, no desire to go back and won't recommend. read more

This place is beautiful inside! It's got a regal, cozy, mature feel to it. They have literally hundreds, if not thousands of whisky options, much more than what the extensive menu offers. We had the Apples-to-Apples (my wife's fav), some egg nog (get it if it is still available), and a Sierra Old Fashioned. The vibe here is still really awesome. You don't need to be an expert to order drinks here. Just let the guys know what you typically like and see what they recommend. You know, Whisky Lounge is Whisky Lounge because of the old Manager. He poured his heart and soul to this club from the opening approximately 6 years ago. Unfortunately his so called partner / boss jacked him around and never paid his bills. Made it very hard for the manager to manage inventory / parties / etc.... But he still is the best bartender in Reno and the most knowledgeable. Owner Feddy screwed the manager that kept this club up and running for 6 years. I ask you this, do you want to support a club that does not support their employees? Feddy or whatever his name is is a crook, does not pay his bills, is never in the club, pays horrible benefits if any, he is joke! If I see that Whisky lounge is selling eggnog this year that is not their receipt, there will be trouble. read more

Went in on whiskey Wednesday and had no idea all drinks were half off I originally was going to eat Nextdoor at brauhaus But I was early so I decided to come here and have a drink my first drink was of course the old fashion and I had a bartender pick up my whiskey based on price, very smooth. He was the manager of the place and moved here from California I believe being a chef to a bartender of his own bar. Although the construction on Virginia has messed with a lot of the businesses which is very unfortunate. But I did find a good spot since it was Wednesday. The old fashion that I had was very good and then I wanted to try a different beverage so I got a hot toddy and that was amazing. If I knew alcohol wasn't so bad for you I definitely would be drinking a lot more LOL! I never imagined myself to like a whiskey bar but this is an extraordinary experience. The interior is absolutely beautifully well done. There is no room on the walls for any more art. There's something to look at in every corner. Not a whiskey drinker so the kind man made me a vodka concoction that I ended up loving. Note: I'm not really a vodka drinker either but I loved my drink. I could really taste every ingredient added and I can tell he took notes to my preferences in cocktails. My wife loves whisk(e)y. So we were down at the St. Lawrence Block Party and decided to make a night of it and get a drink. Impromptu date night style. After snagging a bahn mi over at Perenn we headed around the corner to Whisky Lounge to check out just what they offered. I had been in one time before for some sort of special event where you could get some tastings of some of their whiskys. The less known higher end ones. It was nice time then. But this time we were just in for a relaxing time and a drink or two. I ordered something off the seasonal menu as did my wife. I was hoping for something spirit-forward but not too much. It was a great drink. The smoked cinnamon was new to me and added a great new dimension to the drink. Not sure what the name was but I would order it up again. The bartender you could tell was very interested in making the best cocktails he can. His attention to the customer was a bit surprising considering the place is so new, but they really have a great find in this guy. With such stiff competition in the Midtown area for cocktail bars, the margin for error can be very small, but I will for sure head back in here and hope they can continue doing what they have started. The price point is competitive for Midtown and the selection of different spirits are enough to satisfy the most discerning drinker. The Happy Hour is a pretty good deal right now, but I hesitate to post actual specials because they can always change quickly. read more

Vodka, gin, rum, the bartender loves to mix drinks and finds joy in making his customers happy. I had a martini, a whiskey drink and a couple Dirty Wookies. The martini was great and the whiskey cocktails are great. House made syrups, fresh ingredients all the way down to the torched bacon. Nice setup in Midtown in Reno. The bar itself has a few tables with enough seating for some bigger groups, bar top with about 10 seats and a fair amount of space for standing and gathering. They have a pool table as well but only one bathroom. It is impressive to see how many whiskies they have in there and the selection really does range from the things you can buy at any store to some much harder to find selections. It really is a classier whiskey bar to grab a drink or two at the start or the end of a night. The prices could be a little friendly by a couple bucks or even have a speciality cocktail or two that can be an easy to pour treat for people but it is a brighter version of going to Chapel or Z Bar thanks to the big front window. Definitely would go back with the exact plan to end or start a night there. The drinks are made well and the bartenders are friendly. Just based on the name and the outside appearance, I kind of thought it was a dude spot for dudes who like whisky. I was super blown away with how yummy the cocktails were! We ordered a day in the park, Reno 775 & hibiscus tea and all three were delicious. The mixology was on par with a major city lounge- you can tell they are using quality syrups that are nothing like you can taste anywhere else. All the flavors were expertly combined and tasted great together. Strong as well! Really good first experience, low expectations initially as we went at a weird time in the afternoon when it was completely empty and would want to come back for BOGO ladies night when it's (hopefully) more lively! read more

Stoped by last night 7/29, bar tender was rude like hovering over us while we looked through the menu. Asked for a whiskey and water tender suggested a whiskey to try, okay cool. We were charged $28 for a whiskey and water plus a house Chardonnay. We got looking through the menu the whiskey he picked was $24 and house wine was $11 so he over charged us. They have bar seating as well as lounge style seating in front of a nice fire. The menu is quite extensive and they have some amazing specialties. As a whisky fan, I was really excited to try out Whisky Lounge! Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon for drinks and chatter with a friend. The bartender greeted us and was really friendly. The place was fairly empty and he chatted with us for a bit. He provided great recommendations and was even willing to customize our drinks (I personally didn't want anything too sweet). I ordered the hibiscus tea, which was delicious and very refreshing on a hot summer afternoon. The alcohol to juice ratio was neither too high nor too low- the Goldilocks of ratios! We ended up sitting outside so we could soak up the sun, however, the inside is well-decorated and has a rather cozy ambiance. There is a pool table, darts, and a shiny dark wood finish. There is another bar next door and the lounge is located on a busy street, so be advised that it might be hard to hear each other! Whisky Lounge has seasonal drink specials, along with a great range of drink offerings- from cocktails to well drinks to straight whisky. I'm sure to be back here for another drink soon! read more
