The drink menu is perfect for summer, featuring fun tiki-style twists that make you want to stay for another round. I tried the Holidae Inn, and it was incredible like drinking a melted Dole Whip in the best possible way. Absolutely delicious! The bartenders were genuinely welcoming and made the experience even better. I also loved the indoor/outdoor seating, which creates the perfect spot to hang out with friends. I have been waiting so long to drink this. It used to be at Death and Taxes but is at Curse of Cane. I love the flavor. These aren't just any regular drinks. This is a very cheeky bar, cute and hip! I love the decor, the indoor plants and the pink vibes. The bartenders were super friendly. Even though it was a busy Friday night we were served fairly quickly. The drinks are a smidge too sweet for my taste, but we still enjoyed two very good drinks. One of them was One Bad B**ch, great, but on the sweeter side. The one thing that was off putting to me was the fact that they give you tiny water bottles if you ask for water. It's a pretty small space, with seating wrapped tightly around the bar itself, so it's best for a duo or small group. Not ideal for larger parties. Our bartender was fantastic--attentive, & friendly. The drinks? Very sweet and super creative, but be prepared: they're about 80% ice, 20% actual drink. Still tasty though! Back at Curse of Cane and really close to the same experience as last time, other than this place is a lot nicer with the lights dimmed down on a rainy night. The patio is super chill to watch a rainstorm in. Came in specifically to get another shot of Plantation XO 20th since it's the only place in Reno to get it, and that was awesome. Our bartender Elijah was also great, very friendly and attentive, good conversations the whole time. Other drinks we had were totally good, no complains there. This really is the reason to bump up to a 4. I had a better experience this time and the selection is great. I'm still just stuck on the music choice, I had a glimmer of hope as Remi Wolf's Liz started playing over the speakers but then it went right back to what it usually plays and I just don't get it, it's a mash of identities. This place would probably get more popular if it didn't stand so hard on its specific music era. The do have a large cocktail menu with quite the impressive selection of rum to choose from. I do enjoy rum but it's not at the top of my list when I go out. I ordered a rum old fashion and the bartender that helped us was friendly. The drink wasn't bad at all just not my thing. Nothing else on the menu really stood out for me. The drink was presented nicely with a huge square of ice in a small glass, I felt like it was gone in a couple of sips. The inside of the bar was a little weird, it this weird pink theme going on and I felt like I was in a barbie movie, with more drugs. If you like rum or someone you know does it's worth stopping to check out. If you're looking for a different drink this is not your place. read more

Admittedly, rum isn't my favorite spirit, which may have influenced my impressions, but beyond that, the vibe didn't fully resonate with me either and really disliked the no other spirits style. The bar is still new, and it was clear they were understaffed for a busy Saturday night. This led to slower service, which added to the less-than-stellar drink experience. My wife somewhat enjoyed her drink, the Ms. New Booty, but I wasn't a fan of either of mine--the Ghost of Biggie or the Tropical Tickle. In the end, it's likely just not the place for me. While I appreciate the effort and creativity behind their menu, it didn't leave me wanting to come back. This place is a "vibe." I followed them on instagram and loved the hip hop music, colorful drinks and catchy drink names. Upon walking in with my group as part of the bday self- made crawl, we all fell in love with the place. It has a type of Miami beach vibes to it. It's pretty small in here, but looks like when the weather warms up the front porch would allow for more seating. Thankfully there was a huge booth to allow enough seats for the group. Being a rum lover I ordered the C.R.E.A.M. which has the caption "get the money- Dolla dolla bill y'all" and with the description of a rich velvety painkiller. Everyone ordered something different and everyone seemed happy with their drink choice. We saw another beauty- The Bad and Boozy and so a friend and I decided to split that one. Came in one NYE with another couple after we visited a couple of other places. First off the decor is adorable and the bartenders were welcoming. We were VERY excited to try this place as we adore Death & Taxes and wanted a brighter place with the same mixologists. The bar takes up the vast majority of the space, which is important to this review, and a wall of different alcohol options are behind the bar. I ordered and then asked for a coke for my husband who doesn't drink. They then tell me that they don't have coke. Weird - since a rum and coke is on the menu but okay. He will take a tonic with lemon. They tell me they don't have tonic. I'm confused at this point and ask them how they make cocktails. They then pull out pre mixed bottles of all of their cocktails on the menu and then continue to pour the cocktail I asked for. What?! Death & Taxes is known for beautifully crafted and hand mixed cocktails so this was shocking to pay the same price as D&T for pre bottled cocktails. The bartender kindly took back my drink and we moved over to D&T. The decor was cute but for a bar as large as it was and with minimal seating it was an interesting experience to be denied any NA option and being charged the same price as a more handcrafted cocktail next door. the cocktails did look good and the people next to us said that they enjoyed the cocktails they ordered. But but if you or anyone is NA this isn't the place for you! read more

Reno has been relatively slim on the more tropical drink scene for well over a decade. Finally we have some real spots to enjoy the more tropical side of things. Curse of Cane really focuses on the modern side of this genre and it's such a welcome addition to our bar scene. The decore is spacious and modern with minimalist tropical vibe. The drinks are superb. They are really elevating their offerings by modernizing and reinterpreting classic cocktails. The bartenders are enthusiastic and friendly. The service is fast as they are smartly batching manmany of the drinks. We plan to visit here many more times. read more

After a glass I was sipping from broke and a large chunk fell in the beverage and I was concerned for my safety to continuing drinking it they refused to make a replacement drink and we were met with an overly hostile attitude over the entire experience. Love this new bar! We came in right at 5:30 and were immediately greeted by two very friendly and talented bar tenders. Drinks came out pretty quickly, and everything I had was amazing. These are all rum-based drinks, so if you don't like rum, this is not your spot. You never quite know what is in the drinks based on the menu, but I really enjoyed the C.R.E.A.M. and the DAQ Attack. Drinks were moderately priced. It is one of the prettiest bars I have ever been to! Bright and cheerful, gorgeous bathrooms, simply stunning! There is limited seating, but plenty of room to stand and chat. Couldn't beat the music, which was mainly 90s hip hop. There is also a place called Taco Shop right behind it with delicious Mexican food. I would definitely recommend this bar and will come again! I love Death & Taxes so had high hopes for this new spot, but I admit it fell way short for myself and the four others who joined me. The ambience is similar to an ice cream parlor (which is fine), but the drinks fit that aesthetic, as well - out of the 5 cocktails we ordered, we only liked 1 as they were all disappointingly way too sweet. There is limited seating which made it difficult to socialize; the large bar area would certainly benefit from stools. As of a week ago, they will only offer drinks from their prepared menu and won't serve anything else, including standard cocktails (although I hear this limitation is only for the soft opening period). The menu is written in a way that eludes to what the cocktails are but doesn't actually list out the ingredients which was frustrating - I had to ask specifics so I could make a decision. Ultimately our group left after the first round (some of which we didn't even finish) and went around the corner to Death & Taxes where the vibes and drinks are much more palatable for us. This is not to say some won't like Curse of Cane, as evidenced by the other reviews thus far, but I had to toss out there that this spot may not be for those who prefer more savory cocktails. read more
