Gerry (the proprietor) is a great guy. Very straightforward--knows what he's doing. I had him add 2 circuits to my kitchen, and he and his worker had it taken care of with minimal fuss. He has a pretty thick Scottish accent, which I found fun, but some might have difficulty understanding. His prices were comparable to other places (only had 1 other actually show up for a consultation but had a few quoted just over the phone). Showed up on time and even taught me a thing or two. Just an FYI: he prefers not to do drywall patching, so if you're looking for a full-service kind of job, his prices might be higher. I'd rather save the money and do it myself, but to each his own. I had Thistle come out and assist with an issue I was having with one of my outlets in the kitchen. Gerry arrived with a staff of two, who assessed the situation and shared their findings with Gerry. He then explained to me what was happening, how he intended to solve the issue, and got my ok before moving forward. They then executed making some repairs/changes and Gerry supervised and offered commentary/assistance as needed. They then tested everything and I felt very good about the whole process. I've already asked they come back in the future to assist with an additional need I have. They are a busy crew, so it might not happen right away, but they are up front about that and work out when they can schedule you in. read more

Gerry is great! Very sincere, professional, thorough and detailed. You immediately get the sense that he is a trustworthy contractor and a master at his craft. I've contacted Gerry twice for his services. Last year I had problems with my subpanel, and he came over within a few hours and fixed it quickly at a reasonable price. I contacted him again recently, because the lights in the entire house were flickering off and on for days. He told me he was really busy and wasn't sure of his schedule, but he texted me through the day to let me know when he would be done with his other stops. I liked how he took the time to educate me on different electrical topics related to the issues, so I can better understand the problem. He was at the house for a quick 15 minutes and realized it was a problem that had to be fixed by Edison (I live in a townhouse, and there are probably issues with the electrical feed from the city). He initially charged me a really low rate, since he had to come out and do the service call. But he later ripped up the check, and told me to keep him posted on the outcome. Gerry changed out my failed breaker. We discussed the amperage, wire gauge and the max power rating of the double electric oven that is on the circuit. I can certainly attest that he knows what he is doing since I am an electrical engineer. He came out changed out the breaker with the a new one with a higher rating consistent with the maximum that the wire gauge can tolerate. Overall a great and efficient job. I recently hired Thistle Electric to put in a Telsa charging receptacle at my new home in Redondo Beach. I had been through this process at my previous home but was mildly pleased with the service. So, I searched the Tesla website for a preferred provider. I sure wish I had known these guys back then, because they did an absolutely PHENOMENAL job!!!!!! I can't say enough good things about them with regard to their expertise, patience and excellent customer service. My search for an installer began on a Saturday and I ended up calling three additional providers so I could get a sense not only for their pricing but for their experience. I learned in the past that there are electricians who say they have the experience to put these in, but many of them have only done a few. These guys have put in over 700 of them and they are in regular contact with the good folks over at the Tesla service center in Torrance. I mentioned that I began my search on a Saturday because I'd hoped I could get this process rolling by the upcoming week. As is common with all providers, they asked me for photographs of my proposed plug location, all the way to my electrical panel; so I sent them along via email. I was contacted back almost immediately by a fellow named Leo. He was professional, gave me an estimate and promised to pass my information along to the owner, Gerry. Gerry called me first thing Monday morning and we discussed the details of the installation and he too gave me a proposed price - the same range as Leo's. I had them come out a couple of days later to perform the install. I required a complete installation from the new receptacle all the way to the electrical panel - which spanned the entire length of the house. Gerry came out to the job with his crew and spent the whole day working with them. This is not because his crew couldn't handle the job without him, but he simply wanted to make sure they collaborated and got everything right. Before they left for the day, they walked me through the entire installation and checked the voltage at each end for me to see that it was working properly. I was so happy with their thoroughness and professional work ethic. The fee for service was in the ballpark of their quote and I found it to be very reasonable; considering the amount of work that had to be done. They even followed up with me the next day to make sure everything was working right!! I did have a slight hiccup though, as the breaker kept tripping overnight. Gerry and his crew came out to replace the breaker (which I guess had a faulty spring) and voila, problem solved!!! They reached out to me again the following day to make sure everything was working correctly. Gerry and his crew did a fantastic job and they are as honest as the day as long!!!!!!!!!! As you scroll through the list of providers on the Tesla website, keep in mind that they are not ranked in order of performance. However, if there was a ranking, these guys should be at the top!!!!!! read more
