Needed our old pull-chain ceiling fan removed and a new one with a wall switch installed. Because of the way our living room is wired -- multiple switches controlling the same group of lights -- it was definitely not a simple process. Not only did he get the new fan up, calibrated and running, but he did it all on the afternoon of New Year's Eve, coming out on a last-minute call! He also installed a new back patio light. But the best part is that without his knowledge and guidance, we probably wouldn't have ended up with such a great fan. When we initially called to discuss the job the day before, he asked questions about the fan we'd purchased. From the conversation, we deduced that it would definitely *not* be a good fit for the room. So we went back to the drawing board and found a fan that matched the specs he had mentioned. We got several quotes and decided to go with Thistle Electric based on cost and how professional and responsive they seemed. Gerry and his team did an amazing job! I really appreciated how thorough they were and how great everything looks now. Our new LED motion sensor lights are super bright and work great. We also had an old light in the stairway which wasn't working any more. After tracing the problem, Gerry was able to come up with a solution and rewired and replaced the light. Gerry gave me a very fair estimate for a service panel upgrade to a 200 amp panel from my original 100 amp panel. The reviews I've read are on point. He and his crew showed up on time and actually worked into the night due to some issues they ran into with the way the previous panel was installed. They were able to fix the issues and finish the box install that same day. They only needed to finish grounding the box the next morning and tagging the breakers, so now I know which breaker works each area of the house. They cleaned up before leaving. Gerry stayed in touch with me via text message to update me on all aspects of the process, from scheduling to install to inspection. He ensured that the installation was as aesthetically appealing as possible, working hard to minimize the amount of visible conduit on the exterior of our home, even though it was more labor-intensive to run it across the attic. His crew cleaned up after themselves, and even patched all drywall that was penetrated. Nothing about leaving a message and getting a return call. Perhaps the phone number listed on Yelp is not accurate? I tried to post a 3 star review but it was removed because I did not have a "first hand experience". Since there is no way to contact Yelp directly I am posting this again as I feel the phone experience when trying to contact this company is not favorable. Jerry the owner was very knowledgable and kept safety a number one priority. He rewired our garage to provide more outlets and power, brought everything up to code and installed a ceiling fan and two ceiling lights. It was a pleasure working with Gerry C and his crew. I have vaulted beam ceilings and needed electricity run on them and 2 drop ceilings for light fixtures, an outdoor electrical outlet, upgrades to GFI outlets, installation of new light fixtures and dimmer switches, enclosing my ventilating skylight wiring, and troubleshooting of two outlets. Gerry responded and followed up with my inquiry relatively quickly. Within a week he came out to check out the job site, and prepared a professional written estimate. He did leave a couple of items out of the estimate and was too busy to revise the estimate before showing up for the job. I would have preferred having the numbers laid out more clearly before job start. At the same time, I recognize that some things cannot be known at the time of the estimate and so a contractor may keep buffers in their estimates in case of any changes. Either way, you have to let him know what your comfort level is with that. He and his crew of two were very professional. They cleaned up after themselves. I cleared the area of any clutter so that they could move any pieces of furniture that they would need to. They placed plastic drop cloth throughout the rooms where they were working, and removed it promptly and vacuumed up their work areas after they finished each room. They did not patch and paint the holes that were made in the walls (we agreed that his would be ok beforehand), but did replace the drywall cut-outs in a way that it made it relatively easy for us to patch and repaint those areas of the wall ourselves. He advised me on how to do the patching. I have textured walls, and he explained that I needed to reapply the texture. I was familiar with this but found his instructions helpful. I also had to patch a popcorn ceiling and reapply texture. They completed their work with minimal damage to my walls and ceilings.The crew installed junction boxes on my walls near the vaulted ceilings. The boxes sit on the surface of the wall (about 1" thick )and are not recessed, and the electrical wires were enclosed in a squarish linear molding that ran along my beams. They blend in with my white ceiling. The ceiling lights look great in all the rooms; all the dimmer switches are working; and all of the work looks clean, neat and professional. The outdoor outlet and all of the switch plates/switches turned out great and look very nice. One of the troubleshooted outlets could not be repaired because it was too hard to get behind the refrigerator. I appreciate that he was concerned about damaging my floors. I also appreciated that Gerry communicated clearly, and checked in frequently with me while working to make sure that their work was meeting my vision for the project. He did not do un-neccessary extra work, and was helpful and reasonable. I would highly recommend Thistle Electric. read more

After the cabling was drawn from the panel, they patched all the openings in the ceiling, leaving them paint ready. Thistle responded very quickly to my initial request. They came out right when they said they would investigated my business sign and found the problem. They then ordered the part and were able to come back a day later to install the ballast. Not only that, but they were very communicative on arrival times, and with what was going on. I highly recommend Thistle Electric! During the big storm that hit during February, the power to the garage and all the bathrooms went out. They were very prompt in replying to my messages. When they arrived, they found the problem right away in the circuit breaker switches, and they replaced the old switches with new ones. They were also very thorough and inspected every outlet in the garage and bathrooms to make sure the power was restored. They also re-attached the garage door to the motor, since I had to open it manually a few times when the power was down. While they were working, they also noticed some black mold growing on the walls due to rain soaking in and notified me about it. They showed me where the water was most likely seeping in from and gave me tips on fixing the problem. They were all very friendly and professional. I wanted to give a shout out to Gerry and his team at Thistle Electric. I needed to have a 240V outlet installed in my garage for my families new Tesla. I called four different places that were recommended on the Tesla website. One place never called me back after l left a voicemail and two of them said that I should purchase the Tesla wall connector which would have added hundreds of dollars in additional expenses. Finally I called Thistle Electric and spoke with Gerry. After showing him pictures and letting him know my requirements he came up with the proper load calculations even though my existing box was completely maxed out. He made some adjustments within the box and housed all the wiring behind the drywall. They patched up the drywall and a few hours later I had my 240V outlet.
