Heavy emphasis on really beautiful stuff. Makes me wish I was Catholic. Not in the Vatican/catechisms kind of way. More in the ancestor-worshipping kind of way. They bring gorgeous artisanal materials from various regions in the south, and they really get a lot of great stuff. My living space is getting progressively more Mexican despite my best efforts to avoid buying more. They also do workshops in the fall to make sugar skulls, pinatas, and those papel picado (paper cut banners) as well as paper mache skulls. Super cool. Wish I had an 8 year-old to drag with me. Kind of like Vintage Religion on 30th, except this place is more specialized, more quaint, and though I like Vintage Religion, I just like Back from Tomboctou better.

So many cute food-themed goodies sourced from local artists and makers. Also loved the floral pieces they had out from Best Bud as well! Very unique and intentionally pieced together. As I was perusing around, I noticed they had a ton of community offerings- some were regular and others were special workshops and pop-ups. They regularly get bread deliveries from local bakers- I overheard multiple people stopping by asking if they had any fresh bread. They also host super interesting workshops that range from arts and crafts to cooking and dancing. The longer I wandered around the space, the more I felt that this was way more than a shop, it was a budding community that was SO fun, SO colorful, and SO vibrant. Will definitely be making it a point to pop into one of their workshops soon :)

She went through boxes and boxes of shirts to help me find the perfect one. I left with matching shirts and the total came out to be about $70. I didn't think that was bad at all given they're imported from Cambodia. Parking can be tight since the back lot is shared with a few other spaces, but I'd def come back especially since there arn't any other Cambodian stores like this in SD.

Great quality and always a large selection. The bookstore has two floors, the first being all the electronics, clothes, makeup, etc, as the second floor has the books and textbooks (mostly for the students). The service is run by mostly students which they are friendly and easy to spot if you need any help. I really enjoy this place for a spot to hang around during gap times between my classes, always something new here. The value is decent, can be pricier side since it's school merch, but i the quality is great and it's worth it!
