I have been shopping at Kiko + Sven for the past several years. It was one of the first stores I…read morelearned about when I went to the very first Adams Avenue Spirit Stroll, which is a local, annual sip and shop event. I then went back to do a little holiday shopping, and have been back many times since. I am also happy that the shop continues to host a spirt stop on the stroll. Kiko + Sven is a tiny shop with a lot of cute items. Some appear handmade and other are just cute or unique. They probably have more jewelry than anything. It is mostly dainty gold and silver, some with long beads and some made from clay. They have a back wall that is full of greeting cards, and a section of toddler and baby items. There are usually quite a few candles and soaps, and a small amount of cocktail/cooking supplies. All of it calls out to me... and makes me want to spend money. They also have a rack of clothing in the shop, and usually a sale rack outside. I have bought a couple of tops and a cute shawl there in the past, but since the selection is so small, I often don't find any clothing that either is my size or style. I think it is a great shop to browse and find something unecspected. As it is very small, the times I went looking for something more specific for gifts, it has been a bit hit or miss. Their stock varies over time and you may or may not luck out. All in all, if you are shopping or eating on Adams, go check it out. It's really fun to browse and you may find something you like. Also, they will make you an account so you can put your phone number in for discounts without any coupons or solicitaitons.

I always look forward to going in there to see what they have. Also the service is always helpful and can answer any questions you may have. They also support local artists and there always new items to see when you go in. Also if you are a plant lover they have unique ones as well as pots too.

It's a little shop but has a lot of cool masks, day of the dead pieces, sugar skull art and more. My friend found a cool pair of snake earrings there, and I picked up a shoulder bag and mask for myself. Lots of items from small to more elaborate. A little bit of everything to choose from. Use your yelp check in and get 15 percent off your order (which I realized after I had left *sigh*) I was given 5.00 off my next order as well. I would recommend, if only just to look.

EVERY day is Day of the Dead at Back from Tomboctou…read more Really though, it's a charming shop of Mexican folk arts and antiquities. Heavy emphasis on the skulls. Heavy emphasis on really beautiful stuff. Makes me wish I was Catholic. Not in the Vatican/catechisms kind of way. More in the ancestor-worshipping kind of way. They bring gorgeous artisanal materials from various regions in the south, and they really get a lot of great stuff. My living space is getting progressively more Mexican despite my best efforts to avoid buying more. They also do workshops in the fall to make sugar skulls, pinatas, and those papel picado (paper cut banners) as well as paper mache skulls. Super cool. Wish I had an 8 year-old to drag with me. Kind of like Vintage Religion on 30th, except this place is more specialized, more quaint, and though I like Vintage Religion, I just like Back from Tomboctou better.

It's a small shop on a busy street but it has a big personality and vibe when you walk in. There was a lovely scent of incense burning. It was a colorful spot. Lots of vibrant colors in the form of purses, satchels, clothing, posters and more. They sell just about every item from body products to hair stuff, to paraphernalia. The female section is much more than the male section. But I was able to snag a great find. The dressing room is one room and has a curtain. It's right by the register. The owner is super sweet and engaging. Helping us shop and pulling different items for us to try. It was also pretty great value considering it's a local mom and pop shop. I walked away happy with the selection and the price I paid. It's a BIPOC and women owned store.

I've lived in most & none compare. Truly. Most everything is made of 100% cotton or silk or linen or blend with patterns & designs you will never find elsewhere. When my British mum came to visit & we had some time to spend, this child of the 60s felt so fabulous we had a little photo shoot (never happened). This little shop is so incredibly unique, unexpected, under appreciated & absolutely worth a visit whether in town or out of town. The employees & customer service is welcoming & friendly & cool beyond belief. Take a shop, take a visit, & get a skirt for the love of god. I've come here for the last 5+ years with a wide array of wants/needs & all have been met beyond compare, you want a backpack? Here. Need a new throw blanket? Here. Belt/head wrap/earring? Here. Going out top? Skirt? Dress? Classic band tshirt? Incense? Wall mural? Here. Other? Here. This is not an incentivized or even encouraged review, this is legitimately the experience I've been lucky enough to gain over the years I've 'popped' into this shop. Worth a gander & then maybe an additional hour.
