My son saw a cute frog figurine on Offerup. He wanted it badly so I messaged asking if it was still available and when we could pick it up. Simon messaged back stating that it was at this store and that the store was open from 2-7 but was closed on Sundays. I let him know that we would try to stop during the coming week. Today, Monday, I drove half an hour there and realized that we were too early. We went to the Japanese Friendship garden for an hour and then back to the shop. We waited and waited. The shop did not open. We got out of the car and walked up. A man met us and told us that the shop was closed. I thought that he was a neighbor. I told him that I had received a message, on Offerup, stating that the store was only closed on Sundays. He responded that he was the one that sent the message and asked what I needed. I told him that we were there for the frog and he responded that he had not taken the frog out yet. I told him that we had driven half an hour from home and could/ would not come back. I pointed out that he had messaged that the store was closed on Sundays and open from 2-7 the rest of the week. He replied, "That's ok." No, that was not ok. We drove 30 minutes there and it was obviously 30 minutes back. He wasted an hour of my time and my gas. As we left, he entered the store. He was going in anyway but could not be bothered to get the frog. At no point did he apologize for wasting our time and gas or disappointing my son. At no point did he act like he cared at all. We could only see the front of the store (which was behind a padlocked gate) and the windows so, I do not know what the rest of the store looks like but what we could see looked like a hoarder's basement. I imagined having to walk sideways through the store. He did have some nice plants and I likely would have bought one or two. As it is, we now know not to patronize this business. read more

My brother and I were heading to a Chinese New Year event and needed something to wear. We met the owner and he was incredibly inviting. The place is a full of relics and other great gift ideas, but we were there for some Tang Suits. He helped us find the best ones with a great fit. First time here, I was doubtful of what I would find since I've been to so many bad shops. I was very excited the moment I walked in! There was bamboo galore! Bonsai trees vases and a lot of Asian themed things, definitely a place to find rare items. Simon and I'm guessing his wife were super nice, answered all our questions and helped us pick a lot of neat and hard to find things. Worth the drive from PB, I will definitely be back, I highly recommend this place to all! Feng shui charms, mystic knots and more! I'll upload pictures of my awesome finds when I get home! Place is a very good store for authentic feeling items from China. I recently visited China and bout some beautiful silk fans that didn't come with a holder to display them. And I was able to buy some silk fan holders/displays from this shop that came with a cool authentic feeling box. Shop the pretty crowded, and had not a lot of space to roam around, it was also disorganized and messy. But I found exactly what I needed and was happy. The shop owner is cool and knows a lot about his culture. He takes credit cards too, which is a plus. read more

Simon is a wealth of information. He has some amazing bonsai for sale every time I go in (and it's probably been 20 years). His store is pretty small and clutteredm but it just adds to the charm IMO. read more

I've been to this small shop several times and I always find what I'm looking for. I go there to buy my bamboo plants "Lucky tree" and a dish to put them in. He has very cool ceramic dish/pots he sells that are original, not mass produced that go good with the plants he sells. The prices are pretty fair I think. There's also some pretty amazing baby bonsai tree/plants he has as well. read more

I'm giving Kam Fun five stars because I went for bamboo plants, and this store had exactly the variety I was hoping for at reasonable prices. I had called before I went in, and the gentleman on the phone (I believe it was the owner Simon) was extremely patient and helpful. I already had vases in mind so just needed the bamboo. There were a lot of other Chinese gifts and collectibles there as well, a lot of stuff in a small space. I overheard Simon politely helping others in the store with all their questions- he's just the type of owner you immediately like! pros...if you are looking for some chinese gifts this is a good place to go see. they sell a little of everything, plants, clothes, knick-knacks, cards, and other odds-n-ends. fun place to just look around for a little gift or something. they have some street parking in the front of the store. cons...pretty limited selection once you find something you like, they may have just one or two more of the item in stock. and they don't bargain with you even if you want to buy a lot or if you pay with cash. now that is just down right un-chinese if you ask me. read more
