Thomas Eye Group was highly recommended to visit for eye and contact exam. They have a self-service check-in which is easy to use. The waiting area was decorated nice and very clean. I was seen by Dr. Ann Saracini, who was quick and efficient. She changed my contact lens to a monovision, which hopefully will suit me best! The staff was very nice and attentive. I have used the Thomas Eye Group for several years now. I am usually attended by Dr. Ann Saracini Layman and her assistants during my eye exams. She is attentive to my eye needs and keeps me informed of any changes during my exams. Her assistants are all professional and very nice as they help me. Worst experience ever at Thomas Eye Group. The staff from the front desk to the doctor are not kind. They are disrespectful of your time by overbooking their calendar appointments. The tech did not wipe down the equipment before she was about to use it to examine my eyes and expressed irritation when I pointed out the equipment needed to be wiped down before she touched my face/eyes with it. Dr Patel has no bedside manner and was in an extreme hurry during my exam which he spent less than five minutes on. He actually opened the door and shared I have a cataract but nothing to worry about at my age as he was walking out. It was an absolutely awful experience. read more

The eye doctors are fine and so is the contact lens lady but the people who work in the front and answer the phone are rude rude rude, that's if they'll even bother to answer the phone. They'll give you an email address and tell you to email but then don't respond. The only reason I've continued to go is because this is one of the few places in the area that takes my insurance. Luckily, my company is changing providers this year so I will probably go elsewhere for my next eye exam. read more

I was not I left three messages with the people in the department of Lasik and only after I called and spoke to someone and told him that I wanted my reports from the diagnosis email to me did I finally receive a phone call from the quote scheduler. Thomas Eye is known for best practice eye care, equipment. They do not respect the patient's time. Your appointment time is a suggestion. The wait time to actually see the eye specialist is over 2.5 hours! This is an unacceptable practice. The staff is pleasant. They need a better scheduling system. Their billing practices are bad. They dont listen to patient requests and customer service is a joke. I asked to have eye check up done and said I would make separate appointment for refraction knowing how my insurances process. They ignored and went ahead with refraction. Refused to send to my vision insurance after several requests. I paid what my copays would have been but refuse to pay what my vision insurance would have covered had they submitted it. My wife and I have been going to Thomas Eye Group for several years and must say since they are now part of a larger group things have deteriorated a bunch. The local staff in Newnan including the doctors are very good. However,the administrative activities that are connected with the group's headquarters in Atlanta are terrible. This administrative group coordinates setting up appointments; refers you to a very complicated website for ordering contact lenses and when they are involved they are not good at returning phone calls. I have been seeing an optician in the NY area for the last 20 years but due to COVID have been forced to go locally. Big mistake. The Thomas Eye Group practice is at least 15 years behind in terms of methods and practices. The peripheral vision exam constituted a tech waving her fingers around the room. Seriously? No retinal scan (been part of the routine exam now for 10yrs up North; no color recognition check; no mention of two freckles on my retina (need to be watched for the potential of trouble). The OD was dressed like she was going to Publix or the kid's playground. Pretty unprofessional all the way around. They dress like they practice - pretty casual. I feel that I have wasted my once annual checkup. I'll be returning to my OD in NY in January. read more

Their rates are significantly higher than other local eye groups. We went there because they accepted our insurance. When asked about rates pre-appointment & at the appointment we were not given answers and told it would be filed and we would receive a bill after if at all since they were in network. The bill was excessive for a regular visit. They charge $75 to receive each prescription. My husband had a $150 charge just for his glasses & contacts prescriptions, not including any contacts or glasses. That was just for the paper copies. The visit fee was almost $300. My husband called and the representative was far from helpful. We will be writing to our insurance company, as well as my husband's employer, encouraging them to drop Thomas Eye Group for inflated billing practices. read more

This place is improving, maybe they are listening to feedback, but after my first visit, it improves at every visit. The only thing I do not like is when you ask for pupillary distance. Just give it to me without any grief. I am not paying hundreds of dollars for glasses when my childs prescription keeps changing. Just not practical read more

The receptionist was extremely rude with a senior citizen in front of me. He ended up walking out exasperated. I only wanted to purchase contacts. Prescription was current. I had limited time due to schedule and was told I would have to wait because the employee responsible for that was with a customer. After waiting forever, I thought I heard my name. Walked around the corner and asked if my name was called. The employee in charge of contact orders was on her computer and no customer was with her. I had to leave. Nothing but bad experiences. Don't tell you have co-pays until the service has been render. Some doctors take your insurance and some other don't. If you by mistake got the wrong doctor in the office you will ended up paying out of pocket for no reason. Doctors here provide good service. The first time I went, they refused to file through my eye insurance saying my standard eye check up was a "medical issue" not a "vision issue". They did the same thing when I took my son. The second time I went, I did not provide my health insurance so they had to put it through my vision. But, they refused to give me my prescription for contacts upon leaving stating they wanted me to try the contacts first. When I called back wanting a prescription for a contact they do not carry, they refused to write it. They just lost a customer. read more

It's a very slow assembly line with typical treatment of such; very cold and non engaging nurses, long wait, initial screening, another longer wait, doctor sees you for 5 minutes, no joke. I have never had a good experience here. Yes, the doctor is adequate. However, his billing department codes ALL yearly exams in correctly, thus charging ALL visitors more than the amount. It's a great place if you want to spend $430 for a routine eye exam with contacts. I've never paid more than $150 for an exam. The only reason that I went here was because they are in network for my insurance. When I asked for a price they never gave me a straight answer. The only reason I went was so I didn't have to pay out of pocket, but this lesson is costing me more after my insurance than if I would have just paid out of pocket. read more

Love the doctor, but the staff is extremely unprofessional. The tech that assisted us had gloves on when she called us back and never changed them- does she wear them for every patient? Absolutely disgusted with that. I have appointments for myself and my husband- really not sure if I am going to keep them. It's really sad to lose an entire family especially when Dr. P is amazing - she performed surgery on our daughter last year and she is really comfortable with her as her doctor. my wife had cataract surgery, was supposed to be one lens for distance and one lens closeup for reading. they did both lenes for distance. said they could correct this screwup, but would be at our cost. had contact exam under Humana Eyemed insurance. Humana Eyemed paid their share under in network agreed upon charges. TEG charging additional fee for fitting of contacts. These people are not to be trusted. read more

If I could give a zero I would. I called inquiring on how a self pay exam is for contacts. The representative started by saying from 60-120. She went on to say to see the doctor would be 99.00 and then there would be the cost of the contracts. I advised that because I am self pay it will benefit me to order my contacts online so I will only need the exam and the prescription. She placed me on hold stating she wasn't sure how that would work with me not getting the contacts with them. She came back and said it would be the charge for the exam and still between 60-120 for the written prescription. This was utterly insane. Never have I ever heard of such a thing. To charge 60-120 for the written prescription. This to me was wrong on so many levels and a form of price gouging!! I would not recommend them nor would I ever go to a place that would do such a thing. Just pure wrong! So very upsetting. Every staff member we came in contact with was courteous and made sure we felt welcome. Even watching as they worked with other patients, they were always professional. Very pleasant experience. I had my 12 y/o son's and 10 y/o daughter's appointment at the same time, and they took them both in together and spent time with each one individually and made sure to answer any questions they had, even if they sounded a little crazy to me, with professionalism and treated them as if they were grown adults during their examination. If I could rate this place zero stars, I would. This was, by far, one of the worst experiences I've had in a medical practice in quite some time. The office is poorly and inefficiently run, the staff was not trained properly, several staff members I engaged with were just plain incompetent and rude, the wait times are atrocious....I could go on and on. They left such a bad taste in my mouth that I literally walked out and was never even seen by a doctor. We waited an hour past our scheduled appointment time and when we inquired how much longer the wait might be, we were told that we should "always allow ourselves up to FOUR HOURS for appointments there." Have been going to group for years. and suddenly they are charging me $55.00 for my prescription. I think this is against FTC rules and a bogus expense just to line their pockets. " If I get it today, but if I don't the charge will be $75.00" The wait time before seeing the doctor was long. Absolutely, hands down, the worst experience I've ever had at a doctors office in my life. The nurse who worked with me wrote down my prescription incorrectly, and I was given a prescription weaker then my five year old prescription - the whole reason I was there was to replace it because it didn't work anymore. When I called to correct the situation I was led through a string of different people on the phone, and never allowed to speak to the nurse. I called daily for several days, was never called back and was never allowed to speak to the nurse. Abysmal customer service. I was then told I need to come in for a recheck, and given an appointment time the following week. I'd hired a babysitter so that I could come to the office in the first place, so it's not very convenient for me to have to wait weeks to get the correct prescription and have to hire a babysitter twice. Very disappointing. My daughter has been seen twice for an eye infection. We left the office on a Thursday, I went to pick up the medicine they prescribed and it was never sent to the pharmacy. I waited to give them time to process and called them Friday to request the prescription. When you call they will not let you speak to anyone who is actually in the office where you were seen. They assured me they'd have it taken care of. That didn't happen and it was Friday so I had to call back on Monday. The prescription was finally sent on Monday afternoon. My child was miserable. She was seen on Thursday and wasn't able to get the medicine they prescribed in the office until Monday. Unacceptable. And now the infection is coming back and I'm fighting the battle to get a refill. I called Friday morning when she noticed a problem and nothing happened so I called back Friday afternoon, still nothing, so now we're having to wait over the weekend again. Needless to say, we will not be back to Thomas Eye Group. UPDATE: They called me back--two weeks later! Two full weeks! They told me they'd "just gotten the message" and I'd need to make another appointment to be seen. We've found another eye doctor! read more
