Most of these reviews are no longer relevant, since the office has changed a lot post-Covid. Dr. Sirisha left over five years ago. It is very easy to get an appointment. I saw them today for an urgent repair with less than 24 hours notice. I left the practice when they went out of network, but recently returned when they started accepting Delta Dental again. I learned my lesson. Dr McKenny is the best. He has created three implant crowns for my husband, and corrected issues the other dentist claimed were unfixable, using conservative approaches. I know that when he recommends something it's in my best interest - he's not trying to max out my insurance benefits for his own gain. As an example of his integrity, when he went out of network with our insurance, he honored the originally quoted price through to the end of my husband's treatment, even though it meant he wasn't being paid by insurance at all for the most expensive steps. A special shout-out to Anglea, who handles billing and reception. She has fought with our dental insurance, and is always willing to explain things in detail. read more

I'd give 0 star but yelp does't support it. The dentist here is NOT professional and irresponsible. I almo I had a dental crown surgery here a few month back, the dentist mistakenly sprayed the phosphoric acid on my skin (near my mouth) but she didn't tell me during and immediately after the surgery. On the next day, I found my skin burned so hard. I talked with the dentist via the phone and they admitted it is their negligence and told me that it should be fine after a few days??? I waited for one week but the hurt did not get better at all. This time when I called them, they REFUSED to admit it is their fault and said to me "how could you prove you get this burn from our clinic/dentist". I was so angry and disappointed, not only for the mistake they did during the surgery, but their irresponsible attitude for the patient. My skin did not feel that burnt about two months after the surgery (though even today, if I touch that skin with more pressure, I can still somewhat feel the difference). read more

I'm not entirely sure how this office received such high ratings. As a former patient, I find that this practice will do whatever to maximize my insurance claims. I came in for a cleaning, but because I am a new patient, I had to make two separate appointment: one for initial consultation and the other for the actual cleaning. Fine, nobody wants to spend more time at the dentist, but if that's policy, then whatever. However, during the "consultation" I was found to have multiple cavities that would require FOUR additional visits! Like I said, nobody wants to spend time at the dentist. So, I got a second opinion at Simply Dental, and as it turns out, I didn't have a single cavity. This all occurred in 2015. It is now 2017, and I still do not have any cavities. What appalling is that the office was willing to do unnecessary procedures to maximize their profits. I am writing this review as a person who has been a patient here for almost five years. The office staff is highly unethical and inefficient in their billing practices. They have assured me multiple times that specific dental work that I needed to get done would be covered by my insurance, only to send me a huge bill months later, and insisting that I pay up ASAP. The dental hygienists are also a mixed bag. Sometimes you could get someone superb, and at other times someone substandard. I cannot afford this sort of inconsistency, either financially or otherwise, so I have stopped going to them. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST I just moved to Seattle and have been trying to find a new dentist. I made the mistake of trying to visit Dr. McKenny's office. I tried to schedule an appointment back in January and they have rescheduled on me three times. Each time they gave me very little notice about the change. The first two times they offered appointments that were more than a month out which is unreasonable. I cancelled after my third reschedule and they didn't even have the courtesy to suggest another dentist who could actually keep their schedule. Additionally, the hygienist apparently lost her license which seems like a really bad sign. If you want to make an appointment to feel good about it but never plan on actually getting a teeth cleaning- this is the dentist for you! If you would like to actually have your teeth cleaned, find someone else. read more

I would have given this business 5 stars due to their fantastic service...but I am extremely disappointed by how they dealt with notifying their patients that they no longer took Delta Dental. And yes...that is enough for me to drop three stars. A few months ago, I got the first snail mail from them that said they are considering withdrawing from Delta Dental and would like patients' input. I didn't think much of it because I knew if they don't carry Delta Dental, I would have to start considering elsewhere because I don't want to pay as less as possible. I mean...I have mouths to feed at home...I'm sure most people would agree. Well...I never heard from them again on this matter. As a result, when my appointment time was up, I scheduled an appointment to go in. The person who scheduled me did not notify me that they no longer took Delta Dental and proceeded to schedule me. I went into my appointment checked in and the front desk did not tell me they no longer took Delta Dental. I assumed everything was all fine, went in, did my routine cleaning, came out, and asked for my portion of the bill. The front desk told me that they do not know how much they will charge me until the insurance pays. That was odd to me because they usually know at least a close estimate, and I pay them on the way out. Again...did not inform me they no longer take Delta Dental at this point. I then asked them point blank..."so did you ever make a decision on if you are staying with Delta Dental?" And they replied they already withdrew. I told them I was never notified. The front desk checked her computer and said, "well we sent you the notice..." And then confirmed my mailing address. Since I did not know how much I owed, I thought...well let's get the bill first and and then find a middle ground. So I went home...perhaps that was my mistake...I should have confronted this lack of communication right there and then. Then came the bill...they charged me about $200...which is about 10 times my usual visit! I call them, and proceeded to explain to them that I never got the mail that they dropped Delta Dental. I tried to be fair and reasonable and asked them if they are willing to split the difference. The person who answered the phone, then asked her Superior. Moments later she came back and told me she cannot honor that and I have to pay the entire bill. I reinterrated that I was not formally notified, but they stood their ground. I ended up paying $200 for my routine dentist visit. This experience showed me that at best, they really suck at communicating with their customers about important issues...which is surprising because I get emails from them all the time regarding Seattle Reign tickets...super random...I know. At worst, they are unethical, by intentionally only giving their patients the bear minimum notice so the uninformed would be suckered into paying them more. I'm not going to be verbose or clever with my words on this one. Need to know: 1. He's straight to the point. Let's you know what he's doing and why he's doing it. 2. Just a light hustle when it comes to offering extra services and products. He doesn't try to push stuff on you, but he does make a pitch for some special mouthwash and so on (he's gotta make that money). 3. He uses recent technology to minimize hassle and pain 4. The dental hygienist is adequate and does not do dumb stuff like ask you questions when she's scraping your teeth and you obviously cannot speak 5. Hygienist uses that sonic scraper thingie which hastens the process and is overall less painful 6. Insurance and paperwork is as smooth as it can be That's it. It's never going to be fun. His office has a cool view of some city construction to keep you occupied while they do their thing. I gave him a 4 because I have been to a dentist in LA where you could watch Entourage while they cleaned your teeth. That's 5 star stuff. read more

This review gets one star because Yelp doesn't allow 0 stars. I'd been a patient here for over a year and had a cleaning scheduled for 5/19. My mother is visiting me for the summer and I scheduled her as a new patient at the same time. These appointments were scheduled on 4/11. Today I get a text saying "I know you were supposed to have an appointment May 19 at 8am, but unfortunately, we have to reschedule that appointment. Please give us a call or email us. We are very sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you, have a great day. Tami." I called as soon as I got the text and spoke to Tami. I told her I'd have to reschedule two appointments since my mother and I were coming in at the same time. She then tells me all Saturday appointments are being canceled because other patients had canceled. I explained I work corporate hours and the options she provided were not viable. She then suggested a 7am or 6pm appointment for us. Here's some background info, I have chronic illness that causes chronic pain, and waking that early will ruin the rest of my day. I will literally be so sick and in so much pain, that I will not be able to work that day. I should not have to take time off work for this appointment. I also explained, I live in Edmonds and work downtown. I refuse to make my mother wait around for 8+ hours while I'm in an office, for some 6pm appointment. I asked her to ask the dentist to make an exception and start the policy after our appointments. I asked her to honor the appointments we scheduled over a month in advance. She wouldn't even ask, she kept trying to push 7am and 6pm, ignoring the information I provided her. We weren't getting anywhere, so I said to cancel the appointments and that I wouldn't be coming back, and this offended her. You created a logistics issue, don't get offended when I refuse to rearrange my life or compromise my health for you. Don't punish me because of what someone else did. read more

I absolutely loathe going to the dentist but I'm trying to be objective here :) It's all about the staff and hygienists to be honest. The dentist himself, Dr. McKenny, is overall polite, decently friendly, professional, and quick. He knows what he's doing and gets the job done. He doesn't make the experience a wonderfully pleasant one or go out of his way to make sure you are extremely comfortable, which is something that's a bonus but not necessary. The front desk staff are very friendly and welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful. The hygienists are pretty good. Overall friendly but again, not the outstandingly warm or welcoming compared to other places I've been. I would have liked to be asked if I'm comfortable or if there is anything they could do to make my experience better. Honestly, I just picked this place because I was recommended it, and was too lazy to go anywhere else after my first visit (which would require transferring all my xrays and records). If I could chose again, I may have considered going elsewhere. The location is very inconvenient if you don't work around there because parking is expensive and hard to find, and traffic is awful downtown. The staff is fine, and Dr. McKenny is a good dentist. However, if you want a warm and fuzzy place to go, I think there may be other places slightly better. read more

Went in for the first time yesterday and had a very pleasant experience. I had a broken filling but since I was a new patient, I was required to have an exam appointment, cleaning and THEN get the filling done. It's the Holidays so of course booking is tight. I got the last available appointment of the year for the exam and was prepared to wait it out until after New Years for the treatment but with some expert scheduling I was able to get my three appointments in one day and walked out with a new filling! Not bad! Everyone from the front desk rep to McKenny himself were all super nice and "on my level" all the way through the process. I have been visiting Dr. McKenny's for around an year. My low rating information is mainly due to deceiving information provided by staff. My dental hygienist has been very good and have no complaints against her. Before getting any treatment I confirm multiple times with people at front desk and care provider if my treatment is covered. So I was very surprised when I received a bill of 100 dollars. I could not recall any treatment being not covered as before every sitting I confirm that treatment they are providing will be covered or not. I called their office to explain what the changes were. The person who took my call told me that it was for a dental filling I had and insurance covers only 80%. That seemed suspicious as my insurance covers fillings at 90% of cost. Due to this I asked her to look more closely as this does not seem right. Then she switched to a different reason. That my insurance period is from March to March. I am allowed 2 cleanings per that period. However typical insurance period is Jan to Jan. Due to the variation in period, one is dental cleanings I had is not covered. I thought OK possibly this happened. I explained her that before each treatment I confirmed with both the front desk and my hygienist is the treatment is covered and they had confirmed that it is covered. Because it's their mistake and they provided wrong information I should not be responsible. I requested to speak to Dr. McKenny but was denied. I asked to follow up this with Dr. McKenny. Later in evening I get a voice mail from her. This time she shifted to a different reason now. It had nothing to do with policy period but they had performed a treatment which my insurance did not cover and they had confirmed me that insurance covers that. I see multiple issues here. First of all they provide deceiving information to patients regarding coverage and later put all responsibility to patient. Secondly when I enquiried them to explain the charges they changed their reason thrice. This shows that staff hired by them is not competent and makes stories on the fly. Dr. McKenny and his staff are AWESOME! From the second I walked in for my first appointment, they've been wonderful, helpful and professional. The office is quiet and mellow, which is good for a person like me who gets very nervous about dentistry. No need for nervousness here. All of my fears were laid to rest. I have some extensive work that needs to be done, and they kindly sat down with me to map out a plan that worked with my insurance AND my pocketbook. I'm telling you, they are gems! I had small cavities, and sensitivity on my tooth. Dr McKenny recommended to do filling and I agreed. After the operation, the sensitivity on my teeth increased even more to a point I wouldn't be able to eat using that side. I went back to find out what's wrong, and he recommended to do crown this time to fix the issue. However, the sensitivity on my teeth was not really impacting my life much before the operation, and now I cant really eat. I declined to have another operation for crown. 10-15 mins after the appointment, Dr McKenny's office called me to say Dr now recommends to redo the fillings rather than crown. I have no plans to go back to Dr McKenny's office, and don't recommend to anyone. read more

McKenny is great. He's quick. He's efficient. And one of my favorite qualities of medical professions: he's on time! I am never waiting for him. (I also try to get the first appt of the day) He also is accommodating. A filling of mine had broke and he was able to get me in and fix it in the same day. Other than McKenny being great, I need to give a shout out to my hygienist, Stephanie. She is awesome. And probably the main reason I keep coming back. I've also never been upsold on any products. They encourage me to keep using the at home whitening gel that I've been doing for a couple years now. I started seeing Dr. McKenny yesterday for a routine check up. He and his assistant were thoughtful, knowledgeable, and met my needs. Dr. McKenny responded directly to what I had written in the forms I filled out which I appreciated. His office staff have excellent customer service skills and provide a comfortable, attentive environment. They got me in and out of the office when they said they would. I look forward to returning next week for a cleaning and now consider Dr. McKenny "my" dentist. The building in which Dr. McKenny's office is located does not offer a welcoming atmosphere. Best dentist I've ever been to, bar none. When you have teeth problems, he generally has multiple solutions. When I was having severe tooth pain, they fit me in between patients, and wasn't afraid to refer me to a specialist when it was determined that a root canal was needed. Both Dr. McKenny and all of his staff are helpful and willing to answer any questions you may have. I never feel nervous about going to the dentist anymore. read more

I was referred to Dr. McKenny and his office from a co-worker when I started working in Seattle 7 or so yrs ago. I've been going to them for around 6-7 yrs now and I always enjoy my time there. The office itself is nice and had a remodel done around 1-2 yrs ago. The staff are very nice, friendly, polite, etc... The Dental Assistants are gentle, friendly, and knowledgeable. Dr McKenny is also friendly, easy to talk with, knowledge and trustworthy. He has done several fillings for me and I've never had any trouble with the work he has done. Several people in my office have been referred to him so about 1/2 of our staff gets cleanings done there.
