This could be…read morea nice park, but nearly every day I walk by there's anywhere from a handful to a dozen dirtbags drinking beer and smoking, littering all over the park and throughout the neighborhood as they leave. Sometimes vagrants during the day, but mostly teenagers in the afternoon and evenings. Haven't found any needles yet, just beer cans and garbage. When I walk my dogs through they'll sometimes try to hide the beer, but when there's a big group they don't care. I walk through on my own to make them uncomfortable, but I wouldn't take my kids here under any circumstances. Police need to start patrolling this area.

Herring's House Park is a City of Seattle park in the Port of Seattle providing both paved and…read moredirt/gravel walking paths to visitors. Along the paths are grassy areas, abundant vegetation harboring many different birds, benches to sit and watch the park/Duwamish River, and picnic areas. The park immediately borders Terminal 107 Park, which is located just south of Herring's House Park, and the Duwamish River/Waterway which abuts the park's east side. I came here a couple times earlier this month, the first time a bit by accident. I was planning on going to Terminal 107 Park and did, reached some paved paths and wondered if the paths were part of the same park. Turns out they are not, the paved paths are part of Herring's House Park. But it took me a second day of adventuring here to figure that out. Each park has its own parking lot, the sign for Herring's House Park is more tucked away, something to keep in mind if driving here. The park is also easily accessible via foot or bicycle via the Duwamish Trail. Walking the trails in the morning was a treat. I saw different water birds out and fishing about. At the very northern edge of the park the West Seattle Bridge and the Space Needle are visible in the distance. Ships loaded with cargo and smaller boats made their way through the Duwamish Waterway, a fun sight to watch. I came both times in the morning when the tide was nearer low tide than hide tide and crossing the small water channel carrying water from the bog area to the Duwamish Waterway was not too dangerous. An absolutely gorgeous location on a clear day. When I drove past more recently on Wednesday the 16th of September 2020 I noticed the park was closed, so I checked it out online and the park was closed due to the hazardous air quality from the smoke of the Washington State wildfires. The park has since reopened again.

Herring's House is a great little park to walk around. It doesn't offer you any wide open vistas, or hiking trails. But it does have lots of beautiful scenery, places to picnic, and an osprey nest on site. So, if you have any pets or small children you want to dispose of, just rub a little fish oil on them and leave them near the back of the park. (Kidding!) If you're looking for an overlooked beautiful place to chill out when its warm, head here. The parking lot is right next to the entrance to the Grey Line facility.

This park provides a little bit of open air respite from the crowds within the market, on July 4th weekend it was pretty packed with loungers, picnickers, tourists taking a break or snapping the waterfront views. Some benches and picnic tables are available. The site of the park is south of what was once the Washington State National Guard Armory built around 1909, was partially destroyed in a 1962 fire, then almost turned into high rise developments and offices during a period when Pike Place Market was proposed to be demolished, but ultimately saved by protests by "Friends of the Market". The city purchased the land on which the armory used to stand and then transferred jurisdiction of a parcel to the parks department, which designated this as "Market Park" in 1982, then renamed in honor of Victor Steinbrueck, an architect, faculty at the University of Washington, and historical preservationist of buildings in Seattle. He was known for his work in helping to design the Space Needle and his advocacy for the restoration and preservation of Pike Place Market and Pioneer Square.

I immediately met two very friendly people, one of whom was a pet sitter and was with several lovely pups. I had zero issues with either of the people or any of the dogs present. In fact, this lady was so kind when the incident occurred - beyond helpful and wonderful. Within five minutes of being there, my older dog, who is just under 8 yrs old, slipped on gravel and presumably incurred a spinal injury. Her hind legs were temporarily paralyzed, she was screaming in pain, and we had to see an emergency immediately. As I was leaving, this incredibly kind woman mentioned that she saw a similar thing happen to a GSD within a week prior to it happening to my dog. Her prognosis is up in the air. If she needs surgery, I can't afford $10k+ and have no idea if she will make it. It's too early to tell. Ironically, the pet sitter was commenting on how agile my girl is for her age within the minute leading up to this incident. I never would've considered that gravel would be such a risk for potential spinal injury/paralysis of larger dogs, but dog parents beware: DOGS RUNNING IN GRAVEL CAN CAUSE SEVERE AND LIFE THREATENING INJURIES! Be cautious when choosing where to let your babies get their zoomies out. I wish I had known better. Seeing her like this is heartbreaking, and for ~5 minutes of fun? I cannot recommend this park on that basis alone.

This is the message I sent the city. I am reporting an…read moreincident that happened on 9/24 at the magnolia dog park. Three huskies, two of which attacked my puppy (4 months old). He was physically hurt and the behaviour of the dogs was extremely out of what is acceptable. During the attack I confronted the dogs, beat them off and helped my pup out of the situation. Please let me know what I can do. At the time I did not have my phone otherwise I would have pics of the dogs and owner. I intend to go back and if they are there again I will get pics of the owner, dogs and anything else that can keep them out of the park. Again, this was an attack. I do understand dogs will be dogs but these huskies are unacceptable.

This is a delightful little neighborhood park upon the Queen Anne hilltop…read more Situated in a corner partially on a hillside supported by a retaining wall and tree border, the center clearing sort of acts like a neat centerpiece. Along the perimeter are some exposed picnic tables, some tree shade, some kids play areas and walking path loop (which connects the upper street with the street down some steep stairs). Peaceful, pleasant and tranquil. I came here to enjoy some food from Koku Cafe + Market and Bounty Kitchen. Nice spot! Will look nicer when the season changes and the grass is green. Plenty of parking on the west side of park along the east side of the tree-lined street hill.

This is a GREAT park to take your little kids. There is a small jungle gym with some fun looking slides. There are lots of trees around that muffle noise and keep it from getting too hot. The lawn is always nicely manicured and really the whole place seems ridiculously well maintained. There is a steep wooden stairway that leads from the park down to where I live, and it was all overgrown with tree branches, but the city peeps came down and hacked them all away, thus preventing me from whacking my head on a branch. I recommend this place for people who want a small park to take kids, teenagers who need a good make out spot, and people who just want a really pretty place to sit and read a book or chill.

Conveniently located on Ballard Avenue Northwest, Marvin's Garden had tables placed throughout the…read morepaved area of the park and under the bell in the bell tower on Sunday 28 May 2023 as part of the Ballard Farmers Market. It is visible from Bergen Place and the main stroll of the market. The bell tower has informational placards about the bell, including a ringing schedule, the bell tower, and the general area founded in part in collaboration with the King of Sweden. The park also has a few benches, nice for resting one's feet or legs if out walking around for a longer chunk of time. Grounds were cleanly on my visit. I chose to eat pizza from the market (Vespucci Pizza - Mario slice) at the table under the bell in the bell tower and was pleasantly surprised that the bell tower itself contributed a feel of seclusion to my dining experience even while being easily visible by people passing by and other diners in the garden. While I was exploring on foot later in the day, I heard the bell chime from a few streets away.

Marvin's Garden is a tiny commemorative park right in the central area of Ballard just steps from…read moreits neighbor park "Bergen Place". The Park, or Garden has it's name from a local who lived in the area named Marvin Sjoberg and the plants that are placed there. I'm even sure if Marvin was a gardener or had a special sentiment for plants. Another reviewer makes mention that he was the Mayor, but I can't confirm that in my digging. We do know the area is historical. The garden is more like a concrete patio surrounded by various plants with their own plaques on some. There are benches and steps to sit on as it's primarily used for presently during town events. The #1 of which is the weekly Famer's Market. The Centennial bell which has the steps is in the garden, but am unsure if it rings these days. It seems to be a site reminder of where City Hall used to be as part of Historic Ballard. There are information plaques around which give some tidbits of history about what was and what is there. Again like most historical sites and parks like this, it is just another places of respite or meeting in the lively town.

The University Playground is definitely not one of the famous Seattle parks... that is for sure…read more It's more of a neighborhood park for all of the nearby residents and in that aspect it's fine. The park is actually pretty clean aside for some urban camping going on in one corner of the park. There is a lot of playground equipment for the kids to enjoy as well as a playing field so this park definitely has all of the basics covered as to what makes up a park. It just isn't one of the parks with a lot of bells and whistles ( ex. leash free dog park, swimming pool, etc.). Despite not having a lot of walking trails in this park it is still a decent park to take a stroll through. There is a piece of playground equipment with a troll statue on it... definitely not to be confused with the Fremont Troll.

The play area itself and equipment for toddlers and kids were not that much to do or play around on or with, so I'd probably never come back here again for the purpose of getting a kid to play. This place has the potential for re-invigoration 'tho.

A pretty nice dog park! We sometimes bring our senior pup to socialize with other dogs. It's a…read morecombined space for dogs of any size, so there isn't a small dog area like some other parks I've seen. The grass is turf grass and there's poop bags and water for the dogs. For the most part, we haven't run into any issues bringing our senior pup here (he's a chihuahua beagle mix) and he does well meeting all the other dogs and people. Over summer - the dog park can get pretty smelly. I think it's from those hose/water run off but there have been some days where it smelled kind of gross so we left. Also, always watch your pup around the drinking bowl and run the water to make sure it's fresh and not stagnant or contaminated! Unfortunately, the last time we took our pup, he drank from the drinking bowl before we could get to him and a few days later he got extremely sick.

I can see my dog from anywhere in here with plenty of running room for all the pets and their owners. Nice job on this one. Probably the best dog park in the area based on size, offerings, and cleanliness. There isn't a bunch of dirt or gravel like many of the dog parks so your dog will stay relatively clean. Huge bonus in my opinion. I avoid many parks because my dog immediately gets so dirty.
