My wife paid $1000 dollars to file divorce but changed her mind later and tried to get half of the money back but the secretary told a different story unlike the paralegal who said we could get half back if she changes her mind later of filing a divorce. Later thompson looked out the door to see it was us standing in his lobby and closed the door and I said they should have told her that in the first place no refunds if she changed her mind. 2 years of absolute horrible experiences with this "lawyer". Absolute ZERO communication skills whatsoever. Mr. Thompson and his staff continuously dodge phone calls/emails/and texts. Have called the office multiple times to get either a voice-mail or secretary who doesn't understand the difference between court documents and will send you the wrong thing if you can even get them to do that. Multiple times I have shown up to court appearances and Mr. Thompson will either be grossly late (1-2 HOURS) or will simply not show up at all and give you one of his many excuses on why he didn't show up. Mr. Thompson seems wildly under prepared for court hearings and the presenting of evidence if he happens to show up to your hearing. $4000 I paid this attorney and all he and is office is good for is filing paperwork with the courts. When you call him or his staff out on their incompetentance then get extremely rude and tell you that "these things happen" and that you are being ridiculous and over reacting. I have waited literal MONTHS for them to send me a copy of my updated court order and have still yet to recieve anything but radio silence or poor excuses/attitude. Terrible!!! He failed to even show up at my court date for custody over my son, misspelled my sons name on the paper work so it took twice as long. It took 3 months to get my refund from him. I find out my case was closed when I checked the court's website; and when I called to ask why was the case closed they acted offended. They lack professionalism. I had to give a star but please read this whole post!!! I went to Mr. Thompson in January to request that my vacation scheduled be modified and then actually LOST custody of my son!!! He didn't file the motion for modification after a month and a half. The other party filed for full custody. He didn't show up for the court hearing to ask for a continence and the other party got custody. Note, I informed his office no less than 5 times via email and voicemail that I would be out of town that day and it must be continued. He promised me he could get the orders set aside b/c it was his error and he didn't. Then when we try to get an ex parte hearing he ignores my voicemails for 4 days. I go into his office on Tuesday, to demand an update on the hearing, and am told there is a 5.00 balance and they can't file the ex parte. They will need 5.00 plus 1000.00 to file the ex parte. I never got a statement of any hours worked on the case since January. And how do I owe money when all the work on the case that had to be done is his fault??!! Don't go to them. You will end up I worse shape then you started. I have actually spoken to a few attorneys about this form and they have told me they have see him loose on his clients behalf over and over and they actually feel bad for his clients. Thompson represented me on a criminal case recently. Although my outcome was exactly what I wanted that wasn't his fault. I believe he did everything he possibly could to get the charges completely dropped. He was always there when I had a question, he gave me time to come up with my full retainer. All in all he was great. I chose to take a deal but Thompson was ready to put on a full trial for me at my pre lim. Thompson sold me a dream when I went to go get a free consultation. I needed his help with CPS and boy did I make the biggest mistake of my life. I feel like I threw $2500 in the trash. he was late to court twice, he would talk when the JUDGE was talking she had to tell him to be quiet 4 times. During court he would never have much to say it seemed as if he was lost. I retain Thompson because my case wasn't going good but I was better off with my Public defender she did more for me than thompson ever did his suits were wrinkly he looked like he got outta bed and just came to work. absolutely horrible. this is the worst lawyers office imaginable even worse than benjamin greene. at least benjamin greene had a good paralegal and you could actually communicate with them. after i paid partial retainer $1500, they "started" working on my case. i rarely got an update from adriana the paralegal if you can call her that. let me make it clear there is absolutely no way to contact them by phone. you are at their mercy by email only and only the paralegal never the attorney or anyone else. if you try calling, the kerian or whatever the hell her name is girl answers and will tell you "you know your getting charged every time you call". that girl does not want to be working there and you can tell. she is snobby and unprofessional and of course unhelpful. so 3 weeks went by with 0 update on whats going on. i finally hear back from paralegal and she tells me that i owe 435 for filing fee. so instead of just adding it as a charge to retainer, she just decided to wait 3 weeks for her to tell me when she knew the hurry and rush im under to get to court. prior to that, there was an emergency and i needed to get a hold of someone at the office. i emailed paralegal and attorney. i never got a response from attorney, and i got a very late useless response from paralegal basically saying you have to pay more in order for us to help you. i basically threw away $1500 and 2 months to the trash. stay away from these a**holes. if they can call themselves paralegal and attorney, then my retarded cousin is one too. read more
