There is nobody here, it's 20 minutes past our appointment time and it's 100 degrees. There is confusion between the tow lot location and the auto repair location. If you get towed here, be aware that you can come by appointment only. You can't even handle your business right away because they make it hard to set an appointment. We called to let them know that nobody was answering the door and the lady said she was on her way. We asked when to expect her. Again, it's 100 degrees. Again, as if it's no big deal...she said she'd be here maybe in 10 minutes. Not to mention I was hung up on twice during the week when trying to settle matters. Rating went up because once we got there they worked with us and were super nice. The guy gave my son, who is learning to drive, a tour and lecture on safety. read more

This would be the second vehicle I have taken in to these so called "professionals". To fix my water pump. Quoted at $1800, a week later they claim to need to move my transmission and upped the price to $3500, get my truck the following week, it loses acceleration at points and dies, sometimes while I'm in motion. Call them to tell them that they made my vehicle undrivable and dangerous. They proceed to claim my vehicle is old, I repeatedly explain that these problems did not occur until AFTER I went to their shop. Like I said second vehicle I've taken to them with the same end result, my vehicle is not drivable. You people owe me for my jeep and now you owe me for my Nissan. There's absolutely no way two vehicles brought to you people for repairs cannot be driven after being worked on by you. I'm claiming sabotage just so you can try to make more money. Your mechanics have no real training, your fake awards on your wall are obvious forgeries. All your positive reviews seem to be from family and friends. I know you people damaged my property, you will take responsibility for your terrible work and make it right, or suffer the consequences. read more

I had these guys pick up my car for a diagnostic. Great customer service, they never put me on a long hold. The tow and diagnostic was affordable, called a lot of shops and none offered towing. They also called me back the same day with the issue my car had. Highly recommend this shop. read more

Horrible experience! The car was dropped off at the wrong location and was not notified until they had to process my card multiple times. The tow truck had to go back and pick up the car from a random location. On top of that they lectured on what kind of tow truck I should have asked for. In what world would one know that? After speaking to a rude supervisor who would not refund the cost for the town and the mistake they made. AVOID THEM AT ALL COST They threaten to keep your property if you contact the bank about fraud. If I could go into negative stars for the review I would. Two thousand dollars to have a brand new air conditioning installed for it to stop working one month later. When I went back they told me there's a hole in the evaporator and to quote," We couldn't possibly see everything." When I specifically asked for them to inspect the vehicle, not only for the air conditioning, system but so I know whether or not it was worth fixing. When I was speaking to the owner he treated me with disrespect and spoke to the man with me saying," I'm glad someone understands what is going on." I thought this could be a trusted shop and they seemed reliable at first but they will just take your money. Do not go here. The owner is sexist, disrespectful, and immediately wrote me off as soon as I came in with my issue. read more

I had some electrical issues with my car dying rapidly and a broken switch for signals and headlights. At first they said the battery and alternator tested good so they replaced the switch. When I picked up the car I drove half a block before it started dying out again. I brought it back and then they said the battery and alternator actually need replacement, so I agreed to it. 5 weeks later, while I was inside my work building, the switch (which felt decidedly cheap) decided to permanently spring in the high beams on position (even when the car is off), draining my battery. I got a jump that night and had to jam a towel in the base of the switch to keep the high beams from turning on again before going to my usual mechanic, who replaced it for almost half the cost and gave me a switch that feels like the original. Now a week after that, trying to leave work, the belt to the alternator they installed began squeaking and snapped, which caused smoke, so they must have botched that job, too. I work in a secure facility with video monitoring and requiring key cards so it is certain no criminal has attacked my car. Now I'm waiting for a tow truck and will be losing time off work tomorrow to lose even more money on repairs because of what they screwed up to the tune of $1400. read more

I had my 2003 Volkswagen Passat overheat and spew water in the cabin (and all over my foot) the other day due to a bad heater core. After a lot of calling around, I found a repair shop that could bypass it. I was worried about driving it even 2 miles (didn't want to crack the block) so I contacted roadside assistance and they dispatched Thompson's to tow it. After finding out they were also a repair company, I called them and spoke to Diana to ask if they could bypass it. She told me to call Joey because he was in another department and she didn't know. I called the repair department and talked to Joey, who said they could and quoted me $150-$200. The other shop had quoted me $100 which I told Joey, and he said he would rather I've me a high estimate than a low one, and that it would take about 1-2 hours to fix. Due to several reasons, I ended up asking Thompson's to take care of it. However, It took them about 2 hours to pick up my car and I was quoted 1 hour. (I had requested the tow about 11:30.) When I called to get an ETA, Diana said they were "fixin to be in route." They didn't contact me when they arrived like they said they would. I let the repair shop know my car was in route and they said they would call me once they had looked at it. (At this point I was very anxious to get it back, especially since they close at 5:00 and are closed on weekends.) They called me about 2:30 and let me know they had gotten it and that my serpentine belt was also bad and gave me a quote of $275 for the total ($130 for the bypass and $145 for the belt) and said they would have it done that day. Joey called me back about 4:30 to let me know it was almost done. When I arrived to pick it up, he was as friendly as he was on the phone and just as professional. I was taking to some family about this, and they said they also had great experiences with them, got their work done fast, and were a lot cheaper than other places. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because of the towing department. They were very late, didn't let me know when they were on their way like they said they would, and didn't let me know they had arrived. As far as the repair department, I highly recommend them. I cannot say enough good things about their towing service. We have used them twice in the last 4 weeks. The first time was at night. They said it would be 2 hours but made it here in less than 30 minutes. The gentleman was so helpful and when he left the car at my regular repair shop he called to let us know it was there and all locked up. We needed it towed again this morning. We called and the driver was here within 45 minutes. I would only call Thompson's if I need a tow in the future! read more

DO NOT USE THOMPSON TOWING! I had the unfortunate experience of using Thompson Towing. We were driving on the freeway and one of our rear tires blew-out; completely coming off the wheel. I contacted our mechanic to see if they had a towing service and they referred Thompson Towing. I explained to them the situation and they said they would have someone out within 45mins. I was happy they were going to make it over there so quickly. The tow truck driver arrived and I noticed the didn't have a flat bed. He started moving the tow truck mechanics and brackets and hit the bumper and it slipped under the car; as this was occurring are started to try and get his attention; shouting that he was hitting the bumper and he would not be able to tow it like that (the rear tire blew-out and was completely missing; he needed a flat bed). He then tried to pull the contraption out as at this point it broken the bumper and slipped under the car and was now stuck. He asked me to back up the car slightly but this was not working. He had to jack the car up and remove the brackets. He said he didn't know why they sent him as he needed a flat bed. He told me to call the office and left. I called the office and let them know what happened and they sent someone else out. The new tow truck driver was pleasant and explained that the other tow truck driver was an idiot and they have had multiple problems with him. The owner called me as they were now pulling my car up on the flatbed he said he would meet me at the mechanic to look at the damages. He arrived and said he would take care of everything and tried to have me come to his auto repair shop. I ended up taking it to a third party auto body shop and they stated that the whole bumper and contraption needed to be replaced. The owner has not been responsive at this point stating multiple times he would call me back and has not. After complaining, he finally called me back and stated there is so much damage on that bumper of the photos that the body shop sent him that he doesn't think its his fault. I explained there is cosmetic paint chipping from rocks but the bumper was definitely his fault. I tried to give him the opportunity to fix his mistake in a fair manner; but it does not look like that is the case at this point. The owner may come across as kind and cordial; but do not trust Thompson Towing or the owner. Clearly, they don't want to own up to their mistake even though he stated he would handle it. read more

I usually get on here for positive reviews but this is not one of those. I was quoted over a thousand dollars of repairs on a car that I baby every month. I was concerned but got a little work done and then had over $600 left of repairs to do when I left. While driving away, I noticed that my car drove worse when I left. A few days later they called and asked me when I was coming in to get my brakes done since they were on their last leg, according to Thompsons. I held off and got a second opinion. I brought it to Sunland Auto on Val Vista and Broadway. Bob was a huge help and also showed me that my brakes had 50-60% pad left still and were fine. I felt very deceived by Thompsons. Not only that, but ther work that needed to get done was only going to cost me a quarter of what Thompsons quoted me. Over all, I saved more than $400 dollars by using Sunland on Broadway and Val Vista and my car drives amazingly. I am in great hands with Bob, Chuck, and their team. read more

The owner was kind enough to give me a call to express his apology for one of his dispatcher. It was very kind so I added an additional star back. I understand one employee's attitude does not reflect the entire company. I will use again in the future. Used my roadside assistance with Progressive to schedule a tow between 7 & 7:30AM the following morning. At 6:05AM I received a confirmation with an estimated time of arrival for 6:49AM. At 7:15AM Progressive called to ask if the truck was here, it wasn't so they connected me to Thompson's. I spoke to James who apologized and said they had a pick up for 8AM. I said no worries as I know third party lines can get crossed and waited until 8:10AM to call Progressive. Progressive said it would be another 40-60 minutes. This time I called Thompson's and spoke to a woman who was INCREDIBLY RUDE. Told me that they had a pick up on the interstate which took priority (which I understand for safety reasons). I asked why she didn't bother to call me to let me know about the delay and she didn't seem to care. I decided to cancel but then Danny called to tell me he was only 15-20 minutes away. He was very sweet and understanding of my frustration. He mentioned the service they could do for my vehicle at their sho but I told him since that woman was so rude I did not want to take my vehicle there. They could of gave more business and a new customer. I appreciate Danny and James for their service. Maybe they could teach her a thing or two. read more

Horrible experience, they have a contract with the police and do everything in their power to keep making profit off of your vehicle by keeping it inside their impound lot against your will for as long as they can. Tow driver misled (lied) about tow charges and manager at yard only gave minimal info each day I went down there to get car (to keep adding daily fees I'm sure) STAY AWAY if you possibly can. DPS will be getting a formal complaint letter detailing their shady operation and hopefully they will not renew their towing contract. read more

I have been bringing my "cars" to Thompson's for over 10 years, as well as family members cars. Are they a bit more expensive than other shops? I would say yes but to not have the stress of wondering if what a shop "claims" needs fixing and what actually does is worth it. I dont want to be stressed wondering, "Does my master cylinder really need to be replaced" I have had that happen at other shops......not Thompson's. I could go on and on but a few examples I will just throw out there. Repair quotes almost always end up being cheaper. Time and again they have told me it was going to cost say $450 only for them to call me and let me know they got it done for $300. After discovering the problem, quoting me a repair price and going to work on repair they discovered another minor problem. They actually just went ahead and fixed it.......no charge.Thats right, they just didnt charge for it, how many shops do that? Auto repair is NOT something you want to bargain hunt for. At least I dont, quality, honest work is the priority........then price. If that is your thinking, take your car to Thompson's. Oh yeah, I found them after i used to take my car to Salem Boys and moved north of Baseline and wanted a closer shop, Mark Salem recommended. read more

This is the only place I will take my vehicles. They are honest and have fair pricing. I made the mistake of taking my Ford F250 diesel to the dealer for an oil change, where they tried to get me to spend money on service not needed. When I took it to Thompson's they did the oil change for a much better price and did not try to get me to spend money on unnecessary service. If and when they say something needs to be replaced I will trust them, they know their stuff. They have also replaced a transmission in my Suburban. They did an excellent job and were upfront about all the costs involved. I seriously can't say enough good things about these guys. There is a reason they have been around for so long. read more

They didn't actually end up towing my car, but after my original roadside claim with my insurance company was dispatched to another horrible tow company, I called them back to get a new provider. As soon as Thompson's was dispatched, I got a call from the driver letting me know he'd be there in 30 minutes. It made me at ease knowing that I would at least get my car back that evening. In the meantime, the original tow company showed up with my car about five hours late. When I called the Thompson's driver back, he was understanding about the situation. Even though they didn't tow for me, if I have to call roadside again, I will insist on Thompson's or call them directly. read more

This company was referred by my Insurance company, After I called in for the tow yesterday , I waited 2 1/2 hours for the tow due to one or more cancellation, then to have the last tow company show up and tell me he will only tow my car if I either follow him or ride with him to secure my own car, I have never heard of such a thing. I spoke with the dispatcher prior to his arrival, that the dealer ship was aware of the late arrival (a major dealership), they have a key drop off, and cameras onsite, etc, he refused to take my car. This was very poor customer service, and lack of communication, since I spoke with the dispatcher prior and made him aware I needed to leave and I wanted to leave the key in the car. I explained everything to him, all he told me was I needed to be there when the driver arrived, (I stayed.) , he advise that I explain to the driver my situation, if your policy is to always have someone go with the driver after hours then he could have told me this at the time of our conversation and I would have cancelled the tow, and save us both the time and the money. Since he sent him out anyway this leaves me to believe its optional as to who they deem comfortable enough to take the car without the owner. The driver sat out in front of my house for 10 minuets on the phone, I went to the window he ignored me, when I tap on the window he put his finger up like who ever he was talking to was more important than me. when he finally came to door he told me he would not take my car unless I went to secure it my self. I believe he showed up knowing, I wasn't able to go with him just so he would still receive his fee, just for showing up, I believe it's a scam and I am very dissatisfied with this service. That towing company is Thompson's Auto & Towing. If the towing company has such poor communication, I hate to see what the auto repair service is like. Maybe this information should be disclose before you take people's money.....from my experience most people don't have time to go secure there own car. read more

They "fixed' my car and less than a year later the cheap parts they used gave out, causing me to have to have ALL the work they did redone. They severely overcharged me for the parts and labor and now I have to pay it all over again. NEVER take your car here, make sure no one you like does either. I took my 2001 Ford truck in a few days ago, I took it in when I didn't know what the problem was, they told me that there was a problem with my transmission and that they had now fixed it. they fixed it just good enough to run but now my AC and doesn't work and it has trouble shifting gears. But the thing that makes give them only one star (I wish I could give a lower score) is the fact that my emergency cash hidden in my glove box mysteriously disappeared while in there shop. Chuck, the owner I believe, assured me that nobody could have taken it because it was locked in there garage the whole time and he pays his people enough so that they would not need to take my 100 dollars. The money isn't even the part that makes me the most upset, along with the cash was a picture that my little brother had given me years ago and I cared a lot about.
