She called to confirm our appointment and expressed her worries that I could be a "no show" and needed confirmation since it was a long and expensive appointment. I called and confirmed. I was on time for our appointment at 9:15 and she was late. I had developed brand new allergies that I had forgot to update Janice on. When I told her if my newly developed allergies she somewhat passive aggressively let me know I should have let her know beforehand. However, the allergies are brand new to me and I'm a human that makes mistakes, so I apologize. I expressed my concern and asked if I could see the ingredients of the products she was gonna use and she denied me and let me know "if I don't trust her that this won't work" and I went on to explain I had an epi-pen and where I kept it, just in case she might have to use it, but she interrupted me and didn't seem to care. I think she took my explanation of the epi-pen as an attack but I was just trying to let her know I have for emergencies. She continued with giving me a lecture about how I should inform people about allergies and only stick to one person for facials. I offered to pay a deposit cause I rather of just paid for time wasted then get mansplained to by a women. She denied a payment or deposit. She was unable to get a hold of the company for the ingredients in her products so after an hour I left without any treatment. I'm sure this is a great place if you don't suffer from allergies or autoimmune disease. But if you do, I recommend going somewhere else, I'm not sure they are fully prepared or empathetic. I would have gladly just paid a deposit and been on my way, I do understand time is money and felt bad about the last minute allergy information but much rather have left and paid then wait for so long and have a lecture. It was a cute place and seemed like they have wonderful products just not a place that can handle anything that may come up last minute. Truth be told, I should add "therapist" services to this list as Sandy is a truly warm and caring person and will listen to me go on ad nauseam about literally anything and everything for which I need to vent. She will not rush a client out the door when they need to talk, even if she has another client waiting. I was actually in the salon receiving a waxing when "Sindy" (previous one-star Yelp reviewer) came for her appointment. Due to the need for privacy, and also because of COVID, Sandy only has one client in the salon at a time. She keeps the front door locked as she doesn't want other people like delivery men walking into the salon when she is servicing another. The Yelp reviewer "Sindy" who left Sandy a one-star review (please don't confuse her with Sandy) started texting about ten minutes before her appointment to let Sandy know she was there. Mind you, Sandy has on a rubber gloves and a face mask at this time and is very busy focusing on my lady parts, and not her phone (I had been running a few minutes behind, and Sandy was hurrying to finish my treatment). In the few minutes it took her to finish me up and head out to address this client while I dressed, "Sindy" had knocked several times on the door and sent no less than FIVE separate texts, the last at 3:17 (her appointment was at 3:15) stating that, if Sandy didn't respond, she was leaving. Sandy walked out to the front porch, and I could hear "Sindy" immediately begin to raise her voice at her, telling her how she needs to run her business differently, answer her texts, etc. Sandy calmly explained that she had a client getting dressed and she'd get her in as soon as the room was sanitized and re-set for her. This was not good enough for "Sindy". She continued to berate Sandy until Sandy finally told her that she thought they had better just cancel the appointment as they obviously were not going to "click" as aesthetician /client. Sandy kept her head and addressed the matter in a professional way. She could easily have snapped back at this person who obviously wasn't going to use her services anyway, but she didn't. As a small business owner myself, I can tell you that I also wouldn't want a client such as that in my office, and I think that she received the result she deserved from her behavior.
