Rating is for the restaurant on site. FIRST TIME VISIT! I was met in the dining room area of this golf club by a friendly face. Alberto waited on me and allowed me a comfy space to escape the cold and windy temps that my zealot hubby braved on the course. Alberto helped find me a table with easy to access to an outlet in the floor, even went down to open up the brass covers so I wouldn't have to mess with it myself. I was able to do some work and eat a delicious breakfast of French toast and the crispiest bacon a girl could ask for. One important thing to note that they are a card only establishment (no cash) for purchases. At least in the restaurant area. I spoke to a member who enjoyed a breakfast from a seat at the counter that told me that all their entrees are great and at a price point that cannot be neat and he wasn't wrong! You need to have a bug repellent guy come in & spray down the fucking porta potties. It was almost impossible to open the door to get in due to it being swamped with wasp & once I finally got in there were two inside. That is NOT okay. For either male or female. You can't tell me you can't afford it. Seeing the rest of the reviews about this place and nothings changed just means you don't respect or care about real golf or other peoples opinions. This is the worst golf experience I have had in a long time. I thought the City of DeSoto would do better, however that's not the case. Fairways have not been watered since the last rain. Sand traps are horrible. No one has picked up the tees left on the tee box in weeks if ever. If you want to serve the residents of DeSoto please do better. read more

Really poor golf course. Not worth the money. Course is in pretty bad shape. The greens are good! I will give them an A+ on that. But the fairways are rough. Bunkers are rough. Some fairway bunkers can't even be considered bunkers with grass growing in them. Layout isn't very good. Pretty slow pace. read more

Worst golf course in DFW ! It has such a great layout but is so unkept, fairways, roughs and sand traps are littered with weeds bare areas and mud!! No drinking water or trash cans on the course and the bathrooms at the turn have no running water in the sinks or for the toilets....the greens have been plugged and sanded a few weeks ago and were as good as could be expected. No cart girl on the day we attended (Wednesday) also we were told by clubhouse attendant that there are no reduced rates for veterans, 1st responders,,seniors or for walkers. this use to be a good course, I would be very surprised if it's still around in 2-3 years. read more

Compared to most courses I play in the metroplex, this is one of the worst. - They don't supply Scorecards on their carts. Seems small, but literally everywhere else does. - The tee boxes are like concrete. I broke 4 tees just trying to put them in the grown to tee off. - The fairways are brown and hard as a rock too. Every shot kicked up a bunch of dust. - The greens weren't bad, really the only good part of the course. -No beer carts - Cut down tree stumps in or around the fairways. Overall just not a great course for the price we paid. We paid $38 and it's probably a $10-$15 course at best. I understand it's miserably hot and water is tough to maintain due to costs.. but sheesh, that was tough. read more

Do not play this golf course unless you are willing to sit on every hole for at least 30 minutes. Our round lasted 6 hours, and that is not an exaggeration. Not to mention, there is no grass on the course, nor is there sand in the bunkers. The round also cost $75, which is about $75 more expensive than it should be. read more

Thorntree Country Club opened in 1984. Dress code required. It's has 6 beautiful lakes and still claims to be one of the toughest golf courses in the Dallas~Ft Worth metroplex. Met my son here for awesome conversations, and a couple drinks. read more

Terrible course. Every hole has dead trees down, piles of dead shrubs, and trash. There were some pieces of broken balls on the course. The colors in the markers are also pretty faded. read more

Great course and atmosphere but the pace of play was truly painful!! We started the day off with nobody in front of us and it was great. BUT, then we turn the corner to the back and there are two groups who emerged out of nowhere. They were all over the place and taking photos to add to the nonsense. In addition, the group behind us didn't like the wait so they decided to hit into us for the last nine. No marshals, no staff on the course and no regards to us, by throwing groups in front of us. So disappointing after enjoying the front. Won't be back. read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE This course is not what it use to be. I was so disappointed today. First time here since the fall. I took off work early. Took my best friend who hasn't played many rounds. Such a let down.. this course is going downhill because of the general manager. He doesn't care about anything except himself. I use to love coming to this course. It use to be one of my favorite courses in the DFW area. Today was my last time playing it. Awful management and so unprofessional. It's a grade A course with an F grade management. Choose a course like Golf Club of Dallas or Prairie Lakes. Such a professional and friendly management with very well kept courses and such reasonable prices. Thorntree's management is very unfriendly and the general manager has a ridiculous attitude. There ratings have dropped dramatically and so many members have left because management. Do not recommend playing this course anymore. read more

Unfortunately I can only review the experience of attending a Retirement party; however, it was a nice place. The view of the outside was really nice from the banquet room. The food buffet was tasty (the selection was BBQ). There was a few things that I observed which included that the projection wasn't already set up before guests arrived. And although there was a projector screen, they projected the slide show directly on the wall. The waitstaff was slightly inattentive that I have experienced hosting our either attending other events at other venues. For example, while the party was going on they were moving items on a cart from one side of the venue you the other; a bit distracting. Other than that, a very nice location with a great view, especially during the day. read more

Not the Throntree Country Club that we used to know, maybe as a golf club it's better. Over the past 15 years or so, I attended many events at this location and was never disappointed before. I had a birthday celebration there over the weekend and will not use that facility again under this management. The GM could use some customer friendly training or just simple curtesy is not too much to ask. First, the setup was not as we had agreed, that's a side note, but apparently that angered him. During the dinner, he addressed me twice in a manner that offended some of the guests that heard him, and other times offended me. The reason I chose this location was that the food was usually very good. This event was just ok. The fish was good and veggies were ok, but the steak and the desserts tasted like something from the big box stores - fair at best, not food you pay over $30 pp for. I live in DeSoto and commit to supporting local businesses. Not this one any more. The servers were good and I showed them extra appreciation. read more

Thorntree pro shop charged me $69 to play this bunghole. The fairways are basically dead from a lack of water, dried up or non functioning water wells. Shame on you Arcis Golf as you have allowed this to happen. Start a much needed Capital Investment program at all of your shitty courses this one included. Oh by the way someone needs to pick up all the leaves and acorns on the ground at Fossil Creek GC too. I'm tired of paying green fees for shitty conditions. DO BETTER. read more

First time to play this course. Beautiful, older part of Desoto. The homes around the course were older & glorious in their setting of mature trees & manicured lawns. The fairways were great, the greens were lush, the Pro Shop was nice & the person working was very accommodating. Sand & water made for a challenging game. My husband & I had great fun & said we'll play this course again when we're back in the area. read more

After getting past the booking issues, I was able to schedule a round. I have to say that as public courses go, this is a very good one, and the staff we spoke with were incredibly pleasant. I do not recall any course maintenance issues. The course is frankly more interesting than many of the public courses I've played, with more undulation in the fairways and the greens are similarly more challenging. Having range balls included is also a plus, although hitting off the mats was rather lame. It's a long drive from Carrollton, but we will be playing this course a couple more times in the coming months and I will update the review if warranted. read more

I have played Thorntree several times and have always enjoyed meeting Robin on the course, with the beverage cart. Her smile and friendly personality are a welcome sight. Especially if I am having a bad hole. read more
