2 stars because the other employees were friendly, respectful, and professional. Unfortunately, my experience with the owner, Andy, was the complete opposite. He came across as rude, unprofessional, and seemed unable to read the room. He constantly made awkward jokes, repeatedly referred to himself as an "alpha," and kept pushing the same comments even when nobody was laughing. Instead of making customers feel comfortable, it made the atmosphere uncomfortable. When gathering our information, he often sounded demanding rather than polite, speaking to people in a way that felt disrespectful. The biggest issue wasn't the jokes themselves, it was the attitude behind them. I've also noticed that when people leave criticism, he tends to argue back rather than take accountability. A business owner should be open to feedback, not treat every complaint like a personal attack. The staff deserves credit, which is why I'm leaving 2 stars instead of 1. But Andy's behavior alone would make me think twice before returning. read more

I never do reviews on a place unless I feel it truly necessary as great outstanding service or just plain out horrible so people need to know. with that being said.. I went into this store to look for Rayban prescription glasses for my wife because we had exhausted our search for these ONE specific pair that she liked but were unavailable at the Rayban store in downtown Manhattan as well as other shops around Queens.. I was greeted with a real well mannered and courteous gentleman by the name of ANDY.. let me just say this guy is AMAZING and went all out and beyond and then some more to find me those prescription rayban frames for my wife which among other things required him get in touch with rayban in Italy as well as numerous other local and domestic places to help me get them. After an exhaustive two weeks (literally) of him trying .... he was finally able to pull it off and find them as promised which made my wife very happy and content.. During this whole time he kept in touch with me as to the progress of the search which I truly appreciated. It's rare these days to to see stores least of all their employees to go so far and beyond to help you out with your needs. I highly recommend this place for its outstanding customer service and must add the place is exceptionally clean and has a huge selection of glasses.. THANK YOU ANDY ! I passed by this place and saw they had a deal for eyeglasses and exam for $99. I went in to inquire and was greeted by Gladys. She was super friendly and accommodating. They were able to take me right away to get an eye exam. The doctor I saw was attentive and thorough. I suffer from anxiety and she made sure I was comfortable the whole way through. Once my exam was done, I went to pick out my glasses. Gladys understood my budget and only gave me options that suited my pockets. The rest of the staff there also helped me to choose my glasses. They were interactive and funny. They have really unique things in there so I decided to venture out of my comfort zone. Overall experience was amazing. This store is a gem in this neighborhood. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, with no hint of a "sales-ey" attitude. They genuinely want to help you get what you came for, whether it's a basic pair or high-end frames. I came for an eye exam and frame/lens purchase and was in and out of the store in less than 30 minutes. That's a testament to the speed and quality of this establishment. The prescription glasses were ready for pickup in 4 days, a tremendously fast turnaround time. All this at a very valuable price (less than 200 all-in for the exam and purchase). Highly recommended. I have never had a better experience buying prescription frames than at Thosoo. Andy gave welcome suggestions on what frames suited my face and style, but never felt overbearing. They have a fairly large selection of glasses in all kinds of styles, with name brands like Oakley and Ray Bans and some less known and hard to find brands as well. Where should I begin. It all started with a purchase I made on Livingsocial. Went in for my eye exam and the doctor was knowledgeable. I gave Andy my old pair and he basically matched it point for point and made it affordable. They had a huge selection to choose from. I tried out roughly 10-15 pairs before picking mine. I got titanium flex frames, with transition lenses, polycarbonate lenses, anti-scratch, anti-glare for under $200!!! I checked for my glasses online (usually a lot cheaper) before buying them and Andy's price was only $20-30 bucks more. But, I got an eye exam, which I couldn't have done with an online provider! Aside from the amazing deal and affordable price match, Andy was extremely knowledgeable and didn't try any sleazy sales techniques. Another benefit is free tune ups! Andy promised to fix my glasses if I ran into any issues. I'll be buying another livingsocial deal for my sisters and going back to give this brick and motor small business more of my business! A few weeks later got a letter from the dmv to renew my licence and they requested a form filled out confirming my vision and they not only filled it out for me with no problem but they are doing it free of charge. I love this eyewear and optometrist business. They are very professional. I'm 46 now and had 20/20 vision my whole life but 2 years ago, over the course of one summer I found that I could no longer read my iPhone. I went to an optometrist near my home and got some cheap glasses but always felt I would upgrade later on. So earlier this year I went to Thosoo and what a difference it was. I got examined by a board certified optometrist who took his time checking my eyesight such that he discovered that I was both far-sighted and near-sighted. Then I spent another few minutes with another associate who showed me frames and options. I chose a pair and waited about 10 days to receive them as they had to custom craft the lenses. I was amazed at how well I could see with them. I would often forget I was wearing them at all. Small place with big hearts. Came in as a customer, left as a friend. Staff is super friendly, patient and helpful. Needed contacts and a prescription update. Was able to use trail lenses to test out my prescription. Unfortunately at the time I was headed for vacation and needed the contacts. To accommodate me they gave me a pair of trail lenses to take with me so I would not be without my contacts. That's A+ customer service there.
