And, Yes they are cheaper, but I am writing this review today, not to tell you they're cheaper, but to compliment Kenny and Chrissy. They are the reason I now travel to Queens from Manhattan to buy glasses. Chrissy gave me lots of time and expertise, and replaced lenses free of charge. Upside is price. Downside is waiting for the glasses, no instant gratification. Eye exam was acceptable, counter service was acceptable, and selection was acceptable. Yes they have cheap glasses.. Mainly went in there cause I was excited to get hipster glasses that they had. Well they are really the old man reading glasses but I wanted to use them as my hipster glasses.. It's called being innovative. Either way went in there had the worst stink eye with a unibrow from the girl at the counter. Then a nice young boy attempted to assist me while another guy, who I swear must have had the Napoleon syndrome, was assisting another couple. He might have yelled at them 3 times within the 10 min I was there. "You want these glasses or nnoooooooo" yelled Napoleon at his customer. Hey I guess being pushy and rude is the new customer service and the way of schmoozing the customer. Reasonable pricing... but bad customer service(not willing to work with you based on circumstances). Had lenses put in for two pair of Rayban frames and one of the lense got dented(not scratched). Try to tell them that I had just purchased these lenses last month in Sept. and that as a good customer who gave them over $700.00 worth of business... was wondering if they can do something about the dent. Their idea of a deal was to charged me $155.00 for one new lense which equated to half of how much I paid for the two original lenses... not much of a bargain. Came here with my daughter to get her first pairs of glasses. She selected 2 pairs that were located under the sign that said "2 for 1" at $79.95. When we brought them to the counter with the prescription, we were advised that if we choose $99.95 frames we would get a free warranty. My daughter looked, but preferred the ones for 79. We selected the polycarbonate lenses and the clerk wrote up the order. Unfortunately at the time I didn't realize she charged me 99. When I got hone I noticed and figured it would be easy to rectify when I picked up the glasses, no problem. I was wrong. They didn't recognize that the sign said 2 for 1 at 79.95, and informed me that the manager wasn't in so they couldn't do anything. I took pictures of the sign and left. I contacted Cheaper Peepers through Facebook and they had another store manager contact me. He tried to explain to me that I got a better deal at 99?!?! When I told him that I could send him a copy of this sign, he told me he would get back to me when he received it.... haven't heard from anyone in over a week. DO NOT GO HERE!! I had been going to the Factory Eyeglass Outlet for years. It had a great selection and had a one price aspect for glasses. There was a price for a complete pair of single vision and biofocals, etc. I went there recently to find out that the owner had died and the business was sold to Cheaper Peepers. The price is now separate for lens & frame. When it was totaled I would be paying double for what I got before at the Factory Eyeglass place. The man muttered under his breath, "they were selling too cheap before." The physical look of the place is terrible. They have reduced the size of the store. The selection is very poor compared to before. The walls are dirty, there are stains in places. The displays are old & unattractive and it is not well organized. The place is a general mess! This place has many positive aspects: good priced entry-level glasses, fair priced repairs for glasses, all-in-one shop for all your vision needs. They aren't as predatory in their sale of glasses as some other places. The guy behind the counter was friendly and articulate, something you don't encounter too often in Queens anymore. Now the deal-breaker: the optometrist/ophthomologist that does (I don't know if he is still there) contact lens exams/fittings is a scumbag. Like a real piece of trash. First of all, he is a repulsive fat man with dirty hands, overgrown nails, and always comes out of the 7/11 next door with this gluttonous demeanor. Now this is obviously not enough to call a person a scumbag, I know. Well, he is a terrible doctor as well. He measured my vision incorrectly, prescribed me the absolutely worst contact lenses possible, which resulted in me thinking that I was allergic to contact lenses. Turns out, he just coerced me into buying the Focus contact lenses because of his massive markup -- priced 4x what you can get them online for. He makes it seem as if they won't just write you a prescription and let you order wherever you want, that you can only order from them. He will try to persuade you to buy into some bullshit contact lens plan that gives you a free checkup to make sure they fit well, and that everything is OK -- don't buy into it. I have been going to this store for a number of years. I have about 6 pairs floating around my home because they've lasted me so long. I started shopping here as a college student and their prices have only just increased by maybe $10-$15 to accommodate the UV requirements on glasses (helpful). Either way, they're more affordable than most options out there. They also have the nice option of having your current glasses scanned to obtain the current prescription. As an out of stater, whenever I'm in NY I try to make it a point to go. It costs $15 for delivery / glasses. Since I have no way of picking them up, it's worth it. I try them on and they come in about a month (be patient). They have a descent selection, but if you're looking for name brands you're not going to find it here. That doesn't mean they aren't trendy or stylish. Plan to be there for at least an hour trying on different glasses. Recently, I got prescription sun glasses and I love them. Just tint your second favorite pair! Wish I lived closer to get my glasses repair (usual wear and tear). They're not open on Saturday, Jewish owners, so save your Sunday for a trip there. read more

I learned with two pairs of glasses I got that I can't get the glasses with the attached pieces which rest on the nose. So after two days with an irritated nose bridge, I went back and the optician was most helpful. He walked throughout the whole store with me to find new frames that fit my lenses but the part that rested on the nose was solid with the frame.... he replaced both frames for me. The lenses were always perfect but what good would they have been with an irritated nose? I'm a long time customer and a permanent one. Thank you.... read more

I liked how the regular glasses turned out, but the sunglasses did not seem to be made with the same prescription (from my own ophthalmologist). In addition, the shade of the lenses did not suit me, nor go well with those frames. I knew that they have a no-return policy, but offered to pay something to have these issues corrected. I was told there was nothing they could do, unless I wanted to order a whole new pair! They claimed that the lenses on both glasses are exactly the same. I intend to have my ophthalmologist check this. I would advise anyone intending to shop here to be aware that this store will not be of any help, if you have a problem with the glasses they make. This place is currently undergoing a change in ownership. Brought a pair of broken frames there before New Year's and was told by an employee named Brian that he would try and find a matching frame for the lenses. After 5 phone calls in a week's time to check the status of the frames we never got a return call after being promised they would check! We fully understand the store is in a transition phase but a simple call would have been a great way to establish some confidence with a previous customer. I've been buying eyeglasses for over 40 yrs and I've never met a more clueless and poorly trained employee. The glasses in question were for my 85 year old father and I tried explaining to him how important this was. After no answer from the store I had to stop in and ask what happened. Brian immediately said he called. So I told him my dad called 5 times and NEVER got a response. Then Brian told me he was off for the week! So I asked him if anyone had an ANSWER about the glasses. He said his manager would know but he wouldn't be in for a couple more days. So now I can't even get an ANSWER for 2 more days after waiting 5! I ask Brian to return the frames and he reaches into a box and hands me the frames in one hand and a LENS IN THE OTHER. I look at him and tell him that's not how we brought them in. He then proceeds to put them back together then says "I'll call your Dad". I tell him forget it. I'm not one to write negative reviews about anything but today was a day I had to absolutely say something. To say this place is terrible is an understatement. Pick any place but this one! If I could rate them a negative 2 stars that would be generous... This place is full of odd random people that look like they hate their life. I found this strange because eve the boss or manager seemed pissed off too. I needed their service, not company so I gave them my own prescription and and my own frame that needed my prescription done to them. I gave the sleepy lady behind the counter my frames and my script contact information and left a deposit.. Like a normal business would conduct.. She informed me that it would take14 business days to complete and I hesitantly agreed. 19 days later I did not hear from them and I realized that it's been so long that I almost forgot that I had placed the order. I call with my reciept number and a guy with an attitude tells me that no such order exists. I in shock asked to speak to a manager, the manager gets on the phone takes a deep breath and rambles on about how the guy told him that I have a non existing number... And I would need to come in with proof of the order... I wished I would have recorded this transaction to run it on Help me Howard, but I walk in the next day to see the " manager " ... This guy immediately demands to see a reciept, I produced the reciept and he than comes back and literally starts by saying .... Do you want the "Bad news" or the "Bad news first? " I astonished, asked who his superior was and he yells back with a sarcastic smile that he was the owner.. He continues to tell me that "His" technician broke the frame and thats why they could not find the order, broken frames apparently go to the broken frames box to be dealt with by the manager. They at no time even apologized for their braking my optical eyewear, but it gets better, he also directs me to the cash register to pay the balance on the lenses that were cut for the broken frame. He then tells me how he cannot eat the cost of the lenses that he already cut despite them being prepared for a frame that his technician broke. Something out of the Punked show, or Candid Camera... I really thought they were shooting a comedy clip with me being the victim. I basically told him that I was going to call the consumer affairs and bbb, his defense was in fine print in the carbon copy microscopic writing that warns customers that they are not responsible for lost or broken frames that are a result of their doing. You basically give these people business hoping it makes it back from the third world country that makes the glasses for the "optical "outlet... They actually have an old shoe box with about 6 pairs of glasses that reads broken orders. His best comes at the end when he tells me that when a customer pays the price he is charging 109.00 just for lenses, you can't expect something of quality... He says he offers " no guarantee of any kind".. This freaking guy again had the audacity to ask me to finish paying for the Broken frames that held his 109.00 lenses. This guy has nerves of steel to demand that ..... Stay away from the sweatshop outlet... It's a hit or miss.. With these animals that run this scheme in good old flushing, NY.... Case is open with BBB, their actions are border-criminal ... Real Tv would have payed me good money for a clip of this ....lol read more

I recently purchased a pair of eyeglasses at this establishment. It has recently changed hands and I had first heard of it under the old name. Now it is "Cheaper Peepers." I did not get super cheap glasses, but the quality was good and the service polite. It will take a few extra days for your glasses though, so don't wait until they are hanging by a thread. I bought my reading glasses ( and now also distance glasses) from Factory Eyeglass outlet over the past 10 years. The selection, for me, is fine and you can't beat the price. The frames are discontinued styles ( no problem) and I have never had a problem with the lens being incorrect. If you have a problem with a repair, they will fix at no charge. I refuse to pay hundreds of dollars for designer glasses when the glasses here work for me perfectly. read more

I recently purchased an expensive pair of glasses from Payless Outlet in Cedar Rapids Iowa. 5/8/15. I was told at the time of purchase that the glasses could have shorter stems put on them if present stems weren't right. Needless to say the stems were not right. When questioned about the statement the clerk said she had never said that. Both my husband and I heard her or there is no way we would have known a thing like that could be done. I was refused any help, told that it was to bad. The current stems are so long they protrude out of my hair in back. Would you pay $364. for such a pair of glasses?. I know other companies that stand behind there product and are very cooperative concerning such a matter. I have written a letter to the company and am awaiting a reply.. So here I am with a faulty pair of glasses and $364. out financially. Such a sad situation for a senior on a limited budget. Yes, the prices are good. And they have the same excellent optmetrist, and his prescriptions have always been dead-on. I've been a loyal customer for 20 years. I picked up my new pair of glasses 7/24: Within a few days the nose piece fell off (screw loose) and the temples needed adjustment, as the glasses were slipping. Went in today to have the repair and adjustment done. The tech adjusted the temples so they became substantially shorter, and then strightened them when she realized her mistake. She then defered to another technician: I explained to him not to shorten them, but to bend them in toward each other to tighten against my temples, thus preventing them from slipping. He proceeded to do the same thing the previous tech did (he didn't listen to a word I said.) So, I repeated the whole explanation, so then he did the adjustment correctly. I asked if all the adjusting would weaken the temples and cause them to break. He said: "What am I, a mindreader?" I then repeated my concern, to which he responded: "You are very annoying." Obviously, I cannot and will not spend my hard-earned money with anyone who calls me annoying. I may spend more elsewhere (there are other budget-conscious vendors out there) but FEO no longer has my business, nor will I recommend them to anyone, whcih I've done a hundred times over the years.
