The ladies bathroom is so dark when you walk in - it does not have the same light and bright coastal vibe as the rest of the marina. This contrast is also difficult visually. Last year are main problem was not having actual shower heads in the stalls. This year, we had no hot water for our shower on Sunday morning. When we checked back in the afternoon and evening there was still no hot water. Despite the bathroom facilities, the rest of the marina is nice. Kids riding their scooters up and down the piers makes for some non-relaxing sounds on the docks. The pool was not in working order, either.

It's a beautiful spot to visit and is considered part of the large Bay Creek complex. It is under that umbrella and is considered a part of the HOA and various other amenities offered by the complex. There is a gated community you'll drive past with colorful beachfront homes on the left, once you pass that you'll arrive at the Marina parking area and a large grassy field to the left houses a farmer's market during the summer with a few dozen tents with local vendors selling cookies, produce and some arts and crafts. We've visited a few times and sometimes it's very sparse and only has a few tents but during peak tourist season it usually perks up. The restaurant at the Marina doesn't seem to keep the same hours and def. doesn't have the same service and menu it had when it initially opened. They village has closed and no longer houses any shops - those have all moved to the town - it's now an event venue space that can be rented for weddings and they have several cute little colored and themed cottages on site that can be rented as part of a weekend wedding event. There is a small general store that sells some drinks and fishing supplies as well as a surprising amount of On Cloud branded gear for about half off. We love to browse this when we come to the area. It's not a spot I'd recommend for a nice dinner or hanging out as it appears to be very quiet and there isn't much going on here if you aren't fishing or boating from the Marina or here for a specific event. They are located about 6 minutes from downtown Cape Charles, easy to find, and we received an email and text with all the info we needed for our stay including wifi, check-in and out time, policy on pets (they are welcome in certain homes only) and the code for the door. Everything is well-loved and taken care of here. Our room was tiny, but included a full bathroom with shower, a sitting area with a TV, wifi, a small kitchenette with coffee provided and a small fridge and microwave with a sink and full assortment of kitchen items like bowls, plates, silverware, etc. We spent most of our time in town walking, shopping and eating, but the owners are always on site, very personable and friendly, and always have a fire going in the main area at night to hang out if you'd like to socialize. The bed was super comfy, the room was spotless and well appointed with towels, soap, toilet paper, etc. We didn't want for anything and it was easygoing and stress free the entire weekend! I couldn't speak highly enough about this gem. So cute. They do have a small venue area for micro weddings or events, I could see renting this out for your small wedding and everyone gets their own little house for the weekend, how cute!

Tammy greeted me at the front porch upon check-in Friday afternoon and immediately I felt right at home with her. We chatted for a while and she told me about a few places to see in town and gave me a few dinner options. I met another couple staying the weekend and chatted with them and Tammy gave me a tour of the property and a few brochures. My room, the Virginia Wilson, was adorable and cozy with red and wood hues, a comfy bed, and corner bookcases. Ah, adorable! I had dinner at The Shanty and walked around the town into the shops where everyone was just as friendly as Tammy had been. I returned to the inn to relax and bumped into Tammy and her husband, Jim, while getting something to drink at the little kitchenette space for guests which has an ice machine, wine, soft drinks, water, tea, etc. We chatted for a while and they suggested a few movies from their DVD collection for the evening. The next morning breakfast was served promptly at 0830 to all 7 guests (8 is the max for the inn but since I was a single there were only 7) and we enjoyed a warm egg soufflé (YUM) with some homemade salsa and jams and fresh fruits and orange juice, coffee and teas. Tammy and Jim talked to us and we all made pleasant conversation together about plans for the day and suggestions. I had planned to drive to Chincoteague but decided instead to explore the town, shop, walk the beach, have some brown dog ice cream (it's the best, really) and lay out on the porch to read a book. Tammy and Jim had to leave for a reunion so Erica, another innkeeper was there, she's younger and super friendly. She welcomed me back in the afternoon after my walk and spent a little time talking with me on the front porch. I then napped and read a book for a few hours before walking to the beach, taking photos, and listening to live music in the park right behind the inn. Jim had left folding chairs out for us. I spent my second night reading on the screened porch and met the neighbor who came to make sure everything was OK since Tammy and Jim were away for the night. Erica returned early in the morning and served us all ooey gooey French toast with fresh berries and bacon. Yum! Again, we had a pleasant conversation at the table of seven with four new guests from the day before and three of us who already knew one another. The location is excellent - it's right on the corner of Tazwell and Peach and you can easily walk to all the shops and dining (5-10 minutes) and the beach (5 mins). The big park is also right behind the inn and you can walk in the lovely gazebo or under the vined lattice awnings carefully kept by the garden ladies of the town. I loved it. I didn't have to start my car once the entire weekend. I am charmed by both Cape Charles and Bay Haven, which truly was a haven for me when I needed a weekend to recharge my batteries, I can't wait to come back again!

She started us with a delicious cup of coffee each day (specially blended for the Inn by the local roaster) at our bedroom-so good that we bought 4 packages for our fam/friends! There was no air conditioner in the room but two fans available. The sun comes shining into that room heavily in the morning. Nice view of the water. Bathroom is a little small, but perfect for one. The room itself is perfect for one, maybe two if it's a short stay. My friends words on her stay: "The room was smaller, but comfortable and perfect if we weren't planning on spending too much time. It wasn't too small, just smaller -perfect for a single occupancy. The grounds were gorgeous and I appreciated the hands off approach. The company in the morning was lovely. I loved all of the different amenities and areas of the house we had access to to suit our needs. Breakfast in the morning was simple and perfect. The first morning was this amazing quiche.... Hoping to get that recipe to add to my cookbook, sliced strawberries and coffee. The second morning was a scrumptious banana bread, sliced strawberries and a simply seasoned fried egg. It was all delightful. You have access to the kitchen whenever you want. We brought lunch back and ate it outside. There is a fire pit out back you can use. Some notes: there are some fine tuning things that could be taken care of by a grounds keeper or anyone else. Trimming back the foliage going down to the dock, spraying for bees in the white covered "shed" near the water, clearing leaves from the pool, replacing burnt light bulbs and a major dusting inside and outside, especially outside on all the porches. The decor was casual, comfortable, and we thoroughly enjoyed the long weekend. Our room had a toilet and sink, the bathroom, and shower was down the hall. The Inn was spotless and delightful. I would love to go back. We only live across the bridge in Virginia Beach, but the get away was just excellent.
