After hooking up our car to the Tesla Superchargers behind the restaurant, my wife and I popped in for lunch. We were given our pick of open tables and chose a booth by the window. The dining room is quite pleasant, with plenty of tables all brightly adorned with artwork. We both ordered the taco lunch special, which came with one taco, refried beans, and rice. My wife selected shredded beef in a soft shell, while I went classic with a crispy shell filled with ground beef. For good measure, we ordered a side of guacamole. While waiting, we munched on the complimentary chips and salsa. Our meals arrived quickly. Our tacos were stuffed full and very tasty. The rice and beans were ok but could have been better. The guacamole was great. The portions were a decent lunch size. Overall, we were happy to pick this spot, and the short walk from the chargers was a bonus. read more

Verde burrito was really good pork was flavorful and just fell apart. Nothing special about the beans and rice. They were both bland. We were driving through Montana and I'm so sad we don't live here because I would definitely eat here again! My food (the shrimp enchiladas) were excellent, very well seasoned and I ate almost all of it! My dad had the carne asada nachos and he really enjoyed them as well. The ambiance is beautiful, colorful and authentic; however.... that's what you're paying for. That's where the 'Bienvenido' ends. The food is alright, but the overall-stingy attitude of the establishment from the enjoyment of it. Although not over the top, the prices are not cheap, but the management is. A refill of chips basket cost four dollars. It is the mild gringo taste, buds of the great northern location. Put the side dishes and beans and rice are just stingy. Overall, I can make a pot of beans and rice at home and whip up my enchiladas with the sauce from a can just is delicious. And I have seconds if I want. We were staying in Butte to break up our trip to Billings from NW Montana. Decided to try this place for dinner and boy did it come through. It was busy but we got a seat right away. Chips, salsa and waters were delivered immediately and the salsa was tasty. Our server Sky was amazing and quick to take our drink order. We both opted for a Corona with lime hey we're eating Mexican food!! We both ordered a combo plate. His was a chili rellano, chalupa, rice and beans. I had cheese enchilada, taco, rice and beans. He remarked how good everything was but the rice was a little dry, I had to agree. The food, ambiance and service was perfect. We left with full bellies and loved the experience. We know next time we'll eat here again. Just a note our server Sky was probably the best one we've encountered in a long time. I could have gone to Taco Bell and gotten this crap under the $45 I just had to spend. It was so gross. They didn't even have queso or the (I can't remember what kind of cheese it is) white cheese for the tacos either. She said they don't have any of that. The meat was ground beef and it smelled like dog food and tasted like it too. It was so gross. I felt bad for wanting to leave and go somewhere else but I know she would have charged me even if I didn't eat it. It even had cooked carrots in the meat. I feel SICK. I will NEVER come back and I will never refer anyone. The food is disgusting. The waitress was okay. She seemed annoyed at us when we asked for extra cheese or chips. The service is great but the food is lacking. Had the chili Colorado burrito combo and the meat had lots of gristle and tasted dry even though it was drenched in sauce. The sauce was almost brown instead of the red I'm accustomed to. The flavor was just okay. The salsa was bland and more tomato sauce flavor then anything else. The decor is lovely with different art at each table, chair and booth. They need to put more effort into the food though. read more

We recently stopped in to grab a bite to eat, and man did we have a great server. Nikki was fantastic with not only the service, but giving us a brief history lesson about mining in Butte as well. The restaurant side of Three Amigos is a charming little place, with mariachi music and classic murals of south of the boarder. Greeted as you walk in and seated promptly, chips and salsa, with water delivered straight away by the friendly hosts make for a great dining experience. Oh, you guys. We were actually pretty disappointed that we didn't just go to Taco Bell. My husband's tacos looked like something you'd make from one of those Ortega kits from the grocery store in the late 90's/early 2000's. They were not priced accordingly. I ordered a burrito (I think it was chicken asada?) and it was literally just a dry flour tortilla loosely wrapped around grilled chicken and nothing else. To be fair that was pretty much the menu description but I guess I just assumed, having eaten tex-mex food all over the US for upwards of three decades, that a burrito would at least have rice and maybe beans. Or that the tortilla would at least be folded in a burrito shape. Nah. This was one of those rare experiences where I actually felt played. Like, don't charge me 12 dollars for 87 cents worth of ingredients that you somehow managed to prepare much less skillfully than a drunk college student at 3 a.m. (speaking from personal experience). read more

Service has always been hit or miss and food is marginal at best. They honestly need to spend more time with food prep, because each time we have been we have had to spend considerable time removing grissel and fat from the food. The chips and salsa pre meal was good tomato with onion and cilantro slight spice to it. When our order of beef and shrimp fajitas came we still didn't have silverware or napkins. My husband and I split 1 order the beef was over cooked shrimp was very good and fresh. The plate of rice, beans and fixings was lacking much in the way of beans or rice. The beans were thinned and spread out on the plate to a depth of about 1/8" inch. I asked the server for more beans and they brought to me just as previous thinned to a depth of about 1/8 inch. We had an amazing dinner tonight. We saw some reviews saying the food was bland, but we found it to be delicious! My husband ordered his favorite--Camarones ala Diablo. It came with rice and beans and a salad garnish. He ordered his to be extra spicy. He was pleased by the result! I ordered pork carnitas. I'm used to that being the only option, but Three Amigos also offers chicken carnitas! I asked for only beans. They honored that request. It also had a small salad as a garnish. I asked the server for a spicy sauce for my beans. I was impressed by the heat. It seemed mild at first, but the heat showed up at the back of my throat! We brought home leftovers! We read several reviews on this restaurant and gave it a try. We were not disappointed. The service was quick and efficient. The drinks were ok but could be a be stronger. I had the carnitas plate. Great size portion. I asked for the meat crispy so the give it a bit of a flash cook. My wife had a combo plate with a taco and enchilada. Again portion was very generous and the sauce was flavorful. Stopped here passing through town due to great reviews and so disappointed. This was quite possibly one of the worst experiences we've had in a long time. It took about 5 minutes for anyone to even greet us at the hostess stand. Once seated it was almost 20 minutes before anyone acknowledged that we were here. Tables that had arrived after us had already ordered and received appetizers and drinks. Finally we received chips and salsa. Waiter left and said he'd be back. After another 5 or so minutes he came back. We ordered a soda, iced tea and our meals. Waited another 10 minutes and no drinks ever arrived. The best part of this meal was the chips and their house made salsa. The salsa was tasty but pretty mild. It could've used to extra spice or some diced jalapeños. My tostada, taco and tamale were filled with shredded beef. The beef wasn't seasoned very well and obviously not drained either. My tostada and taco were so soft from the moisture I couldn't pick them up. They fell apart. The tamale, again, lacking seasoning and flavor was just ok. But hey, it's in Montana. What can you expect after spending winters in the Rio Grande Valley? Apparently, not much. read more
