I love non chain establishments that keep the home town atmosphere. The bar area is small but has a nice vibe. The beer selection is pretty good and the food is on par with a nice pub. The salads are yummy! Try the wedge. read more

Without a doubt the worst burger I have ever had and I have eaten a lot of burgers. What was supposed to be a burger stuffed with Gorgonzola and caramelized onion was a burnt into a hockey puck non edible meal. On top of that we waited almost 40 minutes for this to be delivered to the table. It is unfortunate because the atmosphere was inviting and warm. I will not return. read more

We went to Three Figs last night after finding it on Yelp. The bar area was busy but we were seated right away in the dining room to the side. Our server was attentive, helpful and friendly. She even noticed when I was whispering to my husband that I thought the St. Germaine was missing from my drink. I didn't want to complain or send it back but since she came to me I did. It was cheerfully corrected and the bartender remembered missing it and apologized. (Be friendly and everyone is happy!) We had the jalapeño poppers, which were delicious and presented well. For dinner my husband ordered the filet mignon with fingerling potatoes and fresh green beans. He loved it all. I had the chopped salad and the lobster bisque. It was to die for, very rich and the puff pastry was more like a popover dough. (It did not from a package.) The chopped salad had these tiny sweet drop peppers that were not only adorable, but both sweet and sour...they made the salad very special. My husband and I went to 3 FIGS last night (Wednesday), never having been before, even though we live in the next town over. Although it was not crowded there was a larger bar crowd than restaurant crowd. We had frequented this establishment when it was the old Suffield Inn a long, long time ago and had many a good meal there. However, disappointment prevailed last night! From the time the waitress took our order (for a simple fare of a hamburger, a sandwich and a bowl of soup) until we received our meals-which was a full half hour plus, later, to the actual product itself - wow is all I can say! I started with the lobster bisque which was way overly salty and didn't taste like lobster bisque at all - I couldn't eat it and my husband tried but he too was turned off by the excess use of salt so we left it. I had the Tennessee Steakhouse Burger which should have been stuffed with cheddar, bacon as well as onions -- all I could see were bits of onions and nothing else. The accompanying jicama slaw was very tasteless and unappealing. Well, the actual burger was 'raw' inside. The waitress came over and asked how everything was and I pointed out the problem to her and she said 'wow - I've never seen that burger, that raw' and she herself stated it was well undercooked. She did ask if I wanted something else instead which I declined. She said she would take the price off our bill. My husband's meal was the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich which was dry and tasteless. At that point, all I wanted to do was to leave the restaurant. I don't think it was a matter of being an 'off' night and I would not recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a quality meal at a somewhat higher price point. Sometimes when you enter a restaurant and from the 'get go' you just get an uncomfortable feeling, you just know the rest of your time there is not going to be pleasant which turned out to be true for this one. read more

Worst customer service from manager to owner. Unreliable and Unprofessional! I just wanted to share with everyone the worst experience I have ever had when trying to book a restaurant for a baptismal party (the only reason we really wanted this location in the first place was that it was located down the street from the church). I called the restaurant to reserve a date for a family party and I was told by Chelsea, the restaurant manager that the date was open and I could have it. At no time did she ask me to put in a deposit or sign a contract, which I would have gladly done considering I had to coordinate that date with the church, God-parents, out of town guests, etc. Since I haven't heard from the restaurant at all, I decided to stop by in person a week later to discuss next steps with Chelsea. At that time Chelsea informed me that they could no longer accommodate my party. She said that she spoke with the owner a couple of days back and they decide to do a fixed price dinner that day. I was shocked as I have already printed out invitations for the event. In addition, Chelsea did not care at all and when I asked why she did not call me right away to tell me so I can look at other options, she told me she was busy and had no time. Then it gets worse. I decided to call the owner, hoping that he would work with us to resolve this matter considering how bad this experience was for us as customers. Little did I know, the owner, Rich, was worse than Chelsea. He proceeded to blame me that I was too picky with my dates, that I asked too many questions about the menu, and that I had not really booked it because I did not sign a contract, which was not even offered to me in the first place. Rich then told me he turns business away all the time and there is nothing he can do for me to accommodate my party. So to sum it up, this is what my husband and I learned: - Rich and Chelsea have zero customer service skills - They both don't care about their customers - Don't seem to understand that they are in a hospitality and service industry - Have absolutely no process or procedure for booking group events - Never have met anyone so willing to throw away $2,000+ dollars in food and drink - And have SO much business that they don't need mine or your business We have several personal/corporate parties a year and we will NEVER book another event or spend another dollar at either the Three Figs or the Tunxis Grill locations! We will both make it a point to tell EVERYONE we know how bad an experience we've had with these two amateurs and that they should take their business elsewhere. To be honest, we had a better customer service experience booking a 5 year old's birthday party at the local Chuck E. Cheese! In closing, if you like mediocre, overpriced food paired with poor customer service, then go right ahead and book your event with Thee Figs or Tunxis Grill! If you do, please make sure to share your soon to be horrible experience! Had lunch today, and one waitress served bar patrons and diners- and that is not enough staff. Have to say my meal of roast pork was dry and topped with ice cold apple sauce! Not good at all. Nice Brussels sprout side though. Pasta carbonara seemed better prepared and was enjoyed. Would not return based on my meal. read more

First time visiting--my burger was good but my fiances chicken skewers were not cooked all the way thru and the fries came out cold. We sat at the bar and the service was awful. bartenders checked back once (10 mins after) our food came and once more for drinks after my beer was empty for a solid 20 mins. A blonde bartender was training a young man who was pleasant but the blonde bartender was very snotty and even rude to staff. The young man started a drink (tall titos and a splash of cranberry x-ice) but got busy and left the drink there with the x-ice and titos and my fiance asked the woman bartender to finish it and she looked at it and asked what it was and my fiance said titos and just needed a splash of cranberry she proceeded to dump the drink in the sink and started a new drink with less then a shot of titos in it and the rest of cranberry and when the man bartender came back upstairs from a party he was attending she yelled at him IN FRONT OF US asking him what was in the glass and that was a heavy pour of titos. I was planning on having my dads retirement party there but we will def be looking somewhere else for that. read more

We made it out for a date night and wanted to try something new. Upon walking in, there was a lot of air condition noise but very well taken care of. Service was great and meal started good. But! I ordered fish and chips on a Sunday, maybe my mistake. Three large pieces one completely raw, other half raw and stunk of old fish. And I mean bad to the point that my girlfriend across the table said it stunk. We told the waitress to please take it away. For some reason instead of offering to remove from check to my surprise after were done eating I get a plate of new fish showing up at table. Fish alone no new fries or anything. Again we were already done eating when it showed up. Now after eating half warm stinky fish wasn't in the mood for new fish from same place. Over all was dis pleasured with the way it was handled since I paid in full after eating old smelly fish. Meal bill was $80. Should have listened to my instinct and went to Red Bird. read more

We were waiting to try Three Figs. It was highly recommended. I do not usually post but, thought it was necessary. The place had one party in the lower level. A private party was in the upper side room. The service was terrible! At least ten minutes or longer to get a drink or bread. After appetizer it took 20 minutes to get our meal. One was cold and the other was incorrectly prepared. After another ten minutes the waitress returned and we asked to have the to meals correctly prepared. Needless to say, the others finished their meals while it took another 15 minutes for the other meals to come back. We asked for more drinks and that took another 15 minutes. The waitress asked if we wanted dessert. She returned 10 minutes later and said, we don't have any dessert menus. Not surprising at this point. Too bad. The food was actually very good. Not sure if they were understaffed or the private party got preferential treatment??? All patrons are paying and should be given reasonable service. As bad as it was, I still tipped the minimum of 15%. read more
