I don't usually give 5 stars, but this restaurant ticked all the boxes! Service was exceptional as we let the staff know that we didn't have much time to dine due to an appt. Food came out extra quick and that was just the beginning. We ordered the Blackened Pasta, the Vegetarian Delight Sandwich and a Burger with Onion Rings. Hands down, the very best Vegetarian sandwich ever with a large portobello mushroom and fresh, crisp vegetables and pesto! The panini shaped bread was perfectly toasted with a good crisp texture. The Blackened Pasta was Al dente, robust and richly flavored in a delightful Cajun cream sauce, paired with complimentary warm freshly baked loaf of bread we received upon being seated. The burger was a juicy, large patty covered in cheese under bright red onions and super green, crisp lettuce under a delicately fresh bun. Onion rings were anything but greasy which was a nice surprise. The atmosphere was modern with rich cherrywood tables, and the whole dining area was very neat and clean. This place deserves a much brighter exterior, however, to match its delectable food and high energy service. We can't wait to return! read more

This place is top notch! I ordered through a food delivery app, noticing that the first driver dropped the job after waiting at the restaurant for a short while. I figured they decided it wasn't worth waiting for and cancelled. Another delivery driver picked up the delivery job and shortly after I got a phone call from the restaurant asking if I ever received my order which I had not-because it still showed that my second driver was waiting for my order. Apparently they gave the order to the first delivery driver who took it and never delivered it! I was prepared at that point to just contact the food delivery company and get a refund and cancel my order. The gal that called me said that she could put a new pizza in and have it done in 5 to 7 minutes which they did and it was delivered shortly after! Might seem basic but you don't find a lot of quick help to solve a problem with many people anymore. I got the meat lovers pizza and it was one of the best I've ever had, on top of everything else. read more

The good: beautiful renovation, great waitress who was very attentive. Despite my view of the dish I had, which I will review below, I will go back and try again. The bad: we both ordered the same dish: scallops with mushrooms, in a pomodoro sauce and fresh basil. The sauce looked old, almost brown in color, and definitely not fresh. It also appeared that the scallops were cooked in the sauce (gummy, not nicely sauteed) since the entire dish took on the fishy taste of scallops. I tried to like it but after about 5 bites I had to give up as did my mother in law. Again, I think perhaps we just ordered a bad dish and I will give it one more try that isn't a daily special. read more

A nice local place! Stopped in for a midweek dinner. This place is very clean, comfortable and nice! We were attended to quickly. We started with mozzarella sticks, then Mataya had pizza and I had the mixed baked Italian plate. While my plate wasn't bad, next time I'd stick with just one baked item for presentation and consistency. I'd like to come back for lunch and try something else. read more

Service was great. The inside of this establishment looks like 3 bowling lanes side by side with tables and chairs for guests. My wife and I had a craving for Broccolini Rabe with Italian Sausage and Pasta. We each ordered the same thing with a side salad. The side salad was GREAT. This place is a hidden gem, I've been going for a few years now and it has always been consistent with awesome food. I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal here. Wait times are super quick for pickup and the owner is amazing and super friendly. It's a treat everytime I get to pop in since we have moved away from the area. This is a business worth supporting as much as possible. I highly recommend their margarita pizza, pesto chicken wrap and steak and cheese grinder. You won't be disappointed!!!! read more

Great place if you love Italian food! I believe the owner is actually from Greece, such a beautiful woman inside and out! She is so friendly and way to talk to! They're extremely fast! Hubby felt like pizza tonight so I went to pick up pizza for him! It's a cozy space; no need to dress up. They have table service a good wine selection, from what I can remember. We've sat at the bar and had wine while we waited and just chatted with the owner before! We would come more often if there were more vegan options this is his cheat day though so he chose pizza from here! Guess that says something! They have good pizza!!! read more

Darn Good Pizza. Hard to find broccoli rabe. They paired it nicely with spicy and not to hot sausage. Great selection of craft bottled beers. No drafts here. The pie was cooked perfectly and the crust was very good. Looking forward to trying other dishes here. The staff was a bit pre-occupied with chit-chating with each other and not quite engaged with the customer, hence you have to resort to hand motions for a second beer, etc. when it should have been part of the basic follow up. (Management Fault 101, cost 1 Star), Chit-chat can wait. Otherwise the staff was very friendly and courteous. The place is very clean and there is ample parking. read more

My husband and I went to ZANTOS for the first time today. We went late afternoon and found everyone so nice and accommodating. The food was great and my husband can be very picking. Zantos is our go to restaurant when we want good food with great service in a friendly atmosphere. One of our favorites is the Rigatoni Bella Nova. It is the perfect combination of sweet and satisfying with enough for lunch the next day. If you haven't visited yet make it a point. I'm sure you will come back. read more

Very disappointed with my last order. Had the Wisconsin cheddar burger and the cheese slice could not have been thinner. They did put cheese on (not like the cook forgot it) , but could barely see it, let alone taste it. U would think with cheese in the name of the burger that one could actually taste the cheese ? Come on... throw an extra 10 cents worth of cheese on the burger... Ordered the wings as well. They were all the "winglets"... no "drumlet" portion of the wing. Normally when you get chicken wings, every place I order from typically give you a mix of the winglets and drumstick. These were all winglets...  Are they saving the fat drumstick part for something else...  ?! Anyways, disappointed. Raise prices if you need to to cover the rent, but skimping turns me off more than high prices.... read more

I have only gotten take out from Zantos, and both times I have gotten the same thing, but it was excellent! In the past month or so I have ordered twice and gotten the eggplant parm (extra sauce!) and it was so good I ate the whole thing both times! I felt sick afterwards from eating so much food but it was worth every bite! I will absolutely be ordering from them again in the future. read more

I recently tried the meatball grinder, I was oddly disappointed... The meatball was overly soft. Like meat that had been overground for chili, there was no body to the meatball, weird texture to it. Very strange for me to say compare to initial review. The staff is always very attentive and helpful ( and fast!), so it feels a little sad to even mention this one. They DO have great marinara sauce, and have fantastic Greek platters. Pizzas are also decent! I love the local feel of the place, with some items I suppose it's just hit or miss. On our first visit to Zantos, rather than get creative, we stuck to the basics and ordered a margherita pizza. (Less is more, right?) I thought the pizza could have used more sauce, but otherwise it was fine. In a vacuum I would probably have preferred Harry's BC or Tunxis, but for the price ($14 for a medium margherita), Zantos makes a solid case. Burgers are amazing and have that 'grilled' flavor. Wraps are great and pasta with carbonara and boullonaise (sp.) are also great. Service is quick, provide in house and take out. I would highly recommend. Seem busy which is a good sign. Only downside is a handicap bathroom/toilet would be appreciated for mom. Waitstaff is informed and helpfull/attentive. read more

Love the Asian chicken salad with Chinese noodles and that out-of-this-world dressing. Caesar and buffalo chicken wraps are great, too. My son gives high marks to their chicken and linguini dinner. I have visited Zantos various times throughout the years when I am in the area or on my way to MA and it has always proven to be a quality Italian restaurant with fast and friendly service. One of the highlights of this establishment is their daily list of specials which is always changing and where you can find some of their best fare. Last Thursday I went to Zantos after working late with one of my friends for a nice dinner. We arrived at about 8:20 after I went to pick him up and started our meal. The waitress was very friendly and attentive to our table throughout the whole meal and everything was delicious. However, as we were paying for our meal, time was about 9:07pm, one of the older women that was behind the kitchen counter felt the need to yell out in a very condescending tone "Let's go guys we aren't open all night". The waitress then told her to calm down and that she had just given us the check and that we were paying. I found it to be completely rude and uncalled for and it left a very negative taste in my mouth (Pun intended) to what was an otherwise fantastic evening. Unfortunately now I will have to think twice before returning to one of my favorite spots in Northern CT due to the unprofessional-ism of a clearly miserable employee. All in all, Zantos' food and general atmosphere is fantastic, but you may want to get take out as to avoid any disgruntled old women trying to push you out by yelling at you. read more
