I've been to Stillwater Grill multiple times since they've opened. It's a great location with different kinds of food than other places in town. The outside patio is beautiful and when the weather is nice, a great place to sit with a drink. The menu is varied and some options I've really liked (taco salad which is gone now, cheesy tater tots, fish tacos) and some I didn't love (any fried chicken is super crunchy to me). The service has been spotty as well - sometimes great, sometimes slower. We also just tried breakfast and are happy there's an option in town - what we ordered was pretty standard and overall good. Overall it's a solid choice in a nice location and worth a visit. read more

This is a new little place off of the main road between Stafford and Staffordville, probably 15 minutes off the highway? ITS GREAT! I had a gluten-free chicken caesar wrap and it was delicious! It was seasoned well and the amount of sauce was great (it did fall apart but that's just gluten-free), and the margarita was great! *New owners in 2022. We were heading towards home from a long trip and found this place in Stafford, CT. We pulled up to a comfortable rustic cabin. Inside we found casual dining indoors, deck seating outdoors and a long cozy bar area with friendly and attentive service. It's clean, cozy and serves great food in a relaxed atmosphere. We enjoyed an appetizer of tater tots with cheese and their homemade Ranch dressing. (Amazing) and then after a game of pool downstairs, enjoyed Amys chicken salad! Place was packed but the food did not lack in quality because of it. The waitstaff was very friendly and accommodating. 5/5 would recommend for a nice meal or a place to grab a casual beer. Bullard room in the basement was a nice area to shoot a game of pool (2 tables) but there is no seating down there. read more

Another place I almost didn't review, because I don't want to discourage people from trying it, and want to give this place a chance to improve. I had 2 problems here, so I won't be back for a while: 1. The drinks are terrible. I first ordered the 'Stillwater Pineapple Water' which is billed as pineapple vodka and available as a shot or martini. I asked for the martini format. A martini should always be booze forward, but I'm fairly certain that the bartender forgot to add any of their infused vodka at all. Because I was so sure that the first drink was a mistake, I ordered another one - this time it was a margarita. It was so syrupy sweet and thick with pre-made sour mix that I couldn't drink it. There are other places like this - you walk in and say to your friends: "We can't trust them to mix a decent drink here, so stick to beer." 2. Low effort on the food. Its frustrating because they have a great menu and high quality ingredients. This is entirely an execution issue. For example, several of the dishes indicate that they come smothered in carmelized onions, but they aren't really. What they call "carmelized" onions here are just barely sweating. Another example is the pork sandwich that came so overcooked, I wanted to ask if I could help in the kitchen. I could go on, but you get the idea. I hope they get some help to straighten out these execution issues. They have a nice place, a good vibe, good ingredients, a nice menu, and great wait staff. Food is good. Service is good, terrible management. I do not recommend going there when the owner is behind the bar unless you enjoy seeing her verbally abuse, her staff. The male bartender that is usually there is consistently trash, talking to the rest of his crew And is subpar at best. The bartender is also the owner and gets drunk behind the bar on the weekends while she is working and says very inappropriate things to the guests . One patron got the completely wrong order and instead of fixing it for her, she blamed it on the customer and told them that they could leave if they didn't like it. I will never be back. read more

My boyfriend and I came in this evening for dinner. It's a Monday (usually slower in the hospitality business.) It was one server and the bartender/owner. The place was probably 80% full when we got there. Amy sat us and I watched as large parties and small continued the fill the place. I was cringing for the kitchen staff and the two ladies taking all of the tables. I was unsure that this was going to be a good night out. They absolutely killed it. Every table was attended to and served almost flawlessly. This has been my boyfriends favorite place since the first time I took him there. I have eaten here three times now and my meals seem to be declining. Meal one my husband and I ate on the patio we had the chicken and waffles and pork sliders. Everything has some kind of spice on it which I'm not a fan of. But we were happy with our food. Second meal with friends, had the turkey bacon wrap and the turkey was poor grade deli meat so eh? My third meal was supposedly one of the most popular sandwiches on the menu the chicken bacon ranch. We also got chicken parm and Nashville chicken sandwiches. All were crazy over fried. I got tater tots and they were so overdone there was no potato in the tot! Same with all three of the chicken in the sandwiches wildly over fried. Only the sidewinder fries were not over fried. We ordered tonight because we had a coupon and a gift card but not sure I'd order there again. Nashville chicken sandwich along with the fries topped with cheese and bacon were perfect. Street tacos were just as good the second time we ate them as left overs. The service is great. The food is great. Ambiance is great. The cost, while high, is on par with other restaurants. They just released a summer menu with a handful of items at a lower price. My boyfriend liked his burger and I loved my chicken sandwich. The breast of chicken was huge and the homemade ranch dressing is perfect on this sandwich. I did not care for the French fries. Although the staff was very friendly and the newly renovated building looks great, I found the food to be sub par. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries w cheese. It was terrible. The burger lacked seasoning and the fries were over cooked so much that they all clumped together and were all dried out. This was a take out order but I live just minutes from this establishment and that shouldn't have caused an issue.
