We stopped by on a Sunday morning and it was super packed. We sent one of our party in search of a table so that we would have a place to eat while the rest waited in line. The line was slow as many customers seemed unsure of what they wanted. The staff handled everything with friendly smiles and as quickly as possible. The place is super cute and I loved the Gertie mural on the wall! We put our order in and because it was busy they let us know it would take 25 minutes or so. The cashier was informative and friendly. We ordered two savory egg sandos and build your own breckie along with a matcha and two seasonal drinks. I was tempted by the Seedlip marg but reined it in for breakfast. The two specialty coffee drinks were fantastic! The matcha was excellent as well. The sauce the came with the potatoes was awesome - one of the best we've had. The savory egg sandos were also great. A+ on the food. Do yourself a favor when in Tacoma and give them a try.

I love when my espresso is served in a pretty red cup! Thanks to my barista for acknowledging how nice the cup is

Very nice in-house pastries and a decent latte made for a nice morning. Seating's a bit tight but that's fine. Very pleasant staff, mellow environment. Good place to come back to whenever we're back in Tacoma.

Fun spot, very trendy. The bahn mi was great, loved the fresh baguette. I just think it could have benefited from some more herbs and jalapeño as you'd find at Vietnamese joints. The chai whoopie pie was also good but I again wish it had more of kick. The buttercream filling was delicious though.

Come hungry! This breakfast and lunch restaurant has some huge breakfast sandwiches. We ordered a couple cocktails, the chicken sausage sandwich, and savory sandwich. The sandwiches were stuffed and full of flavors. They were quite savory. But if you dont like savory things, they also of sweet items too. They have a display case full of yummy looking pastries. I wish I had more room to also order pastries but it was already alot of food for 2 people. I will definitely come back for their ham croissants and giant cinnamon roll. The restaurant is small and the tables are all close together. So be prepared to get cozy with your neighbors.

Went here for the first time and Sunday morning at 10:30 it was packed with a line of eight people waiting to make their selections. I ordered a chocolate croissant and let me tell you, the lamination was unbelievable. If you don't know what that is, Google it! My friend ordered the curry tart and said it was excellent. A banana muffin was not completely baked through but Will, the owner, not only went back immediately to tell his baker, but pulled the rest of the muffins from the case and gave us another pastry of our choice. Now that's good customer service and also taking criticism sincerely. Great vibe!

My cousins and I decided to grab lunch after our cycling class, and we pulled up around 10:30-11 AM and let me tell you, this place stays PACKED. Every time I looked up, there was a line out the door, which already told me we were in for something good. The café itself is super cute cozy, airy, and just a whole vibe. Their menu is stacked with good options. We ordered the huevos rancheros, savory egg sandwich, and the Hilltop Dutch Baby, and everything was delicious, but OMG LISTEN... you HAVE to get the huevos rancheros. That dish was the star. No questions asked. Their matcha is fire, and of course we treated ourselves to some mimosas because balance if you are planning to have a group of friends eat there.. good luck during the busy times cause it does get packed and another thing you do bus your own table, but honestly, I get it... they are BUSY busy. If I'm ever in the Tacoma area again, I'd 100% swing by for a quick brunch or lunch bite. Just a heads up parking is rough. Overall busy for a reason, cute aesthetic, amazing food. Add it to your list!

Great spot to try!! Reviews looked good and they have an octopus and hearts, two of my favorites SO I had to! I'm not from here. Parking was on the street. Inside is cool in temperature. There's a fair amount of seating inside and two 2 seater tables outside. I ordered the Dutch baby Benedict. Delicious. The potatoes had a nice spice (light lemon tarty-ness) w the most perfect crunch! The skillet held a light, sweet bread like crust with the egg and ham. I've never had something like it before and it was tasty. Food prep time was fair for it being lunch time! The coffee was served in a glass cup i would normally use for cold drinks, (this was different to me) BUT was good. It is a self serve type place. You order, they bring the food but you grab the utensils, napkins, water, condiments and clean up after yourself. Staff was very friendly too Downside- homeless across and walking by as we sat outside. One homeless person almost spit on me as she walked angrily away from RED Elm cafe next door.

Well our first time. Cold atmosphere, order yourself and buss yourself... mmm. Coffee strong and burnt flavor to me. We shall see how food is. We picked it because of the ratings. Ok wow the food IS good. No service tho. But they do bring your food out. Wow the Dutch baby my hubby loved! The little potatoes were fantastic with bits of bacon etc in there... yum! My Sammy ... nice bread and good presentation. It was also super good! Will definitely come back for the food. It's just not a cozy place. Definitely hipster type coffee place with food. Cold steel chairs and that kinda stuff. But modern. The food makes this place. Will try a different item next time! They did have several pastries in showcase as well for coffee. Also one free refill of cup of coffee only.

I love the hours and the secrets out, I think if you come on the weekends before 8:30 you'll still get a seat but you have to get lucky as the time gets closer to 9. Minus one star for general attitude of staff more recently. I ordered several items and was not handed my baked goods for the kiddo, so when I got my latte and kid milk, I asked if I could also get the baked items and was told "you were supposed to get them when you ordered. You should've asked for them". I get it, there's a line at the register, you're busy. I also have a 3 year old and I already waited in the line once, so I don't think I should be held responsible for the cashier not giving me a cookie and croissant on a plate. Another recent time my husband and I ordered drip coffee with refill. I waited patiently in line for my husbands refill and was snapped at "did you pay for this?!" Like if you're going to act like that, maybe you should give me a refill token or something. I didn't even go back for my refill because I didn't want to deal with the attitude. I'm pretty sure it was the owner, since I've seen him every single time I've come. Basically, this is my regular experience at Tacoma spots - they start off so nice and you love them, then get a little bit of attitude on the service side and I don't want to go back . I'll probably go to delightful or something and get 3 hearts baked item and a coffee there instead.

If you're looking for a new cafe to visit in Tacoma, definitely head up to Hilltop to check out Three Hearts, located on MLK at S. 11th Street, across from the new Hilltop District T Line light rail station. Three Hearts espresso drinks are made with locally roasted coffee from Bluebeard Coffee Roasters. We love supporting local. Recommendations: From the Cold Case, try the Lemon Bar. And from the Pastry Case, try the Almond Croissant. So good!

First time visit-part time IG stalker Everything here made me smile and filled my stomach with joy. Greeted by warmly by friendly employees. Menus are available as you walk in and you place your order at the counter. There are two very tempting pastry cases with something for everyone. I had the chicken sausage and egg sandwich for dine in and got several pastries to go. The sandwich was flavorful, filling and delicious. I loved the apple relish and pineapple aioli. I am not a coffee drinker and didn't try any of their coffee drinks but if I ever want to try they told me they could make something to convert me I loved the overall vibe with live plants and how open and airy it was. It was a place I could probably sit in all day, read a book, eat pastries and try to get converted to a coffee drinker.

Me and my girlfriend who like to try different unique places to eat, came here for brunch on a Thursday, about 11:30 am. It's very cute, clean and upbeat. People were coming and going and working on their laptops and enjoying the cool vibe, music and ambience. You can people watch a little bit out the window and there is a small bar in the back. We ordered the Chilaquiles as well as the savory sandwich to split. They did not disappoint! Delicious flavors and very unique compared to the typical Chilaquiles. It's almost like three tostadas with delicious black beans, Cotita cheese, scrambled eggs that were perfect, and a large chorizo, fresh sausage. The creamer on the Chilaquiles was delicious! They serve very large portions and everything is made to order. The people working there are really cool! Great vibe I will definitely be back again!! I will say that the chorizo was kind of tough, I was really hoping for more of a ground chorizo, which I think would be much softer and more flavorful. I also think it would be neat to see this on the menu with ground soyrizo! for those that would love the dish without the meat. We also enjoyed a latte and I have to say it was the best latte I think I ever had!!! Delicious

On our most recent visit we tried the nachos, and they were honestly the best nachos I've ever had. The cheese sauce is amazing- not some gross canned stuff. Dirty Oscar's Annex - Disappointing Experience on 6th Ave…read more We came in as a group of seven, and unfortunately the experience went downhill quickly. First, the service was poor and disorganized. One of my friends arrived early and ordered her drink, but it didn't arrive until after I had already received mine -- even after she asked twice. We also had to wait far too long for basic things like napkins and forks because we weren't given enough for everyone. The most frustrating part, however, was the automatic gratuity. At no point were we informed -- verbally or on the menu -- that parties of 6 or more are charged an automatic 20% gratuity. We only discovered it by carefully reviewing our checks. And to make matters worse, the so-called "20%" was not actually 20%. It came out to 24.1%. When we questioned it, the person who said she was the manager claimed "the computer does it automatically." We are a table full of teachers -- and the math was definitely not mathing. We understand and respect gratuity for large parties, especially when the service is great or when it's clearly communicated. But charging more than the stated percentage crosses from poor service into a billing integrity issue. To add to the frustration, there is also a credit card processing fee, which again was not clearly disclosed on the menu and only appeared at the bottom of the receipt. This absolutely should be visibly posted before ordering. They did offer to refund some of the charges, but we declined because it would have taken additional time and we had an event to get to -- and more importantly, it doesn't resolve the core issue of lack of transparency. She also gave each of us a $10 gift card, but again, that doesn't resolve the issue. And honestly, what good is a gift card if we don't plan on returning because of such an awful experience? Overall, this was a very disappointing visit, and not one we would recommend based on service and transparency alone.

My last review was honest but a 1star- now they could have ignored it, denied it or even got rude about it- after all others have (see aspen house) But no, they reached out and asked to open up dialogue- they asked what could be done and they APOLOGIZED- ownership and accountability! The communication was on point and the definitely made good on everything! So we set out to give it another go- and seriously- I may have a new place to hang out! As a non drinker your average joint has water juice or soda- not here The selection of non alcoholic beers and the DELICIOUS MOCKTAILS!!!! A place that doesn't get upset when you order a fancy non alcoholic drink- and you get the feel of being a part of it all not just sippin a soda! Loooved ! Personally hooked on the sweet n tangy- (Sweet & Tangy DHOS Orange, lemon & lime juice, simple, & raspberry puree ) ---delicious! My partner tried a couple non alcoholic beers he didn't even know existed- excellent variety to make everyone feel a part of the crowd!! And if you love a good drink?? They only carry high end liquor and make their drinks definitely top notch! The kind of place that values quality!!! While keeping the prices competitive and honest! Now the food- BRIE- ohhhh the Brie dishes!!! Not many places create food art- creative delicious classic combos with a unique twist! Absolutely the place to check out and try a new dish! Unique items that I'm dying to go back for!!! One definitely to try-- "Apple Brie Grilled Cheese Apple chutney with caramelized onions, granny smith apple slices, brie & cheddar cheese, melted between parmesan crusted 3 Hearts Bread" yummmmmmm The best part though- the people- friendly outgoing crew that you can tell genuinely care about each other and also care about making sure that the people stopping by have a wonderful experience!!! If you're in the area or live near there- check them out- definitely the kinda place to stop in on the regular and make it a thing!!!! Can be smidge hard to find due to construction that should end soon but worth the hunt!!! A total Gem!! Good quality food, excellent service, and a 10/10 place to stop in! Finally got a chance to try it at noon today, and it was a great experience! Environment: The overall vibe is very American. There were TVs on the walls constantly playing various ball games, like today's playoff game between the Thunder and the Lakers. It was pretty busy on the weekend, especially the outdoor seating area, which was almost full. The building is an old structure dating back to the 1900s. Though it shows its age, it's very clean both inside and out--you can tell the owner really cares. Service: Our waitress was very, very friendly and professional. She gave us great recommendations, always served with a smile, checked in on us during the meal, and refilled our water. Very satisfied! Taste: Pizza: There's a funny little story: supposedly, Marco Polo went to China and saw pies, but didn't know how to wrap the filling inside, so he just put it on top--and thus the pizza was born. Personally, I think this is a myth, or many people have started fantasizing about Marco Polo because they think he was too great. But according to various unearthed historical records in China, Marco Polo never actually went to China. In fact, around 2010, more than 20 scholars organized an event called "Retracing Marco Polo's Route." After completing the journey and comparing it to what Marco Polo himself recorded, most of them concluded that he probably never made it to China. Sorry, I have a strong urge to share--went off on a long tangent about Marco Polo. But the pizza was really delicious. It should be truly fire‑baked, not oven‑baked. The sauce was well‑balanced, and the toppings were generous and fresh. My wife and I ate more than half of it! Salad: The dressing and cheese were very generously applied, and the greens were fresh. Chicken wings: They had a pleasant sweet‑savory taste, just right. Unlike most American restaurants where they're too salty or too sweet, these were perfectly balanced. All the dipping sauces were good. Overall, highly recommended!
