We really enjoyed the opportunity to have some very good and somewhat unique food for breakfast this morning at Three Hearts. I will address two concerns I had first and then get to the good stuff. My only marks on negative side of the ledger may only apply to a few folks. The on street parking on MLK Way can be tough to find and there is lots of local traffic including Sound Transit street train. We got very lucky and found two spots just three businesses down. My second concern is the metal chairs used for dining are not a good fit for my 3x body, and can be uncomfortable rather quickly. Most regular folks will have no problems. All of the menu items which is why you come to Three Hearts were absolutely fabulous. We enjoyed some pastries, muffins, croissants and coffee before getting to our breakfast choices. The breakfast sandwiches, savory Dutch baby, quiche all received high marks. The service was friendly and quick even though they were busy and cook things fresh when you order. Food is sold a la carte, so be prepared to buy a side. French fries are big enough that 2 people can share 1 order. I wouldn't order the fries again as they were just ok. I tried the savory egg sandwich which was good. I wish it had mire garlic aioli and pickled onions to give it a bolder flavor. The cruffins were my favorite! They're $6 each and I preferred the lemon curd one over the matcha one. I would buy this again in a heartbeat. Street parking can be challenging, so be prepared to walk a little. read more

What an absolutely adorable, quaint restaurant. There's an awesome vibe in there as soon as you step in, felt very "Tacoma" which I appreciated! Also, as a vegetarian it's hard for a breakfast to impress me. The tofu scramble was a 10/10 and the best I've ever had. So much so, I'm going again with friends in a couple weeks to get the same exact order! As far as service, it definitely was a little slow. But they were sweet and it was a busy morning for them, and it is still very much a worth it! Just a small note, I also got the Tacoma Fog, it wasn't hot when it got to me. More lukewarm. We stopped by on a Sunday morning and it was super packed. We sent one of our party in search of a table so that we would have a place to eat while the rest waited in line. The line was slow as many customers seemed unsure of what they wanted. The staff handled everything with friendly smiles and as quickly as possible. The place is super cute and I loved the Gertie mural on the wall! We put our order in and because it was busy they let us know it would take 25 minutes or so. The cashier was informative and friendly. We ordered two savory egg sandos and build your own breckie along with a matcha and two seasonal drinks. I was tempted by the Seedlip marg but reined it in for breakfast. The two specialty coffee drinks were fantastic! The matcha was excellent as well. The sauce the came with the potatoes was awesome - one of the best we've had. The savory egg sandos were also great. A+ on the food. Do yourself a favor when in Tacoma and give them a try. read more

Come hungry! This breakfast and lunch restaurant has some huge breakfast sandwiches. We ordered a couple cocktails, the chicken sausage sandwich, and savory sandwich. The sandwiches were stuffed and full of flavors. They were quite savory. But if you dont like savory things, they also of sweet items too. They have a display case full of yummy looking pastries. I wish I had more room to also order pastries but it was already alot of food for 2 people. I will definitely come back for their ham croissants and giant cinnamon roll. Went here for the first time and Sunday morning at 10:30 it was packed with a line of eight people waiting to make their selections. I ordered a chocolate croissant and let me tell you, the lamination was unbelievable. If you don't know what that is, Google it! My friend ordered the curry tart and said it was excellent. A banana muffin was not completely baked through but Will, the owner, not only went back immediately to tell his baker, but pulled the rest of the muffins from the case and gave us another pastry of our choice. My cousins and I decided to grab lunch after our cycling class, and we pulled up around 10:30-11 AM and let me tell you, this place stays PACKED. Every time I looked up, there was a line out the door, which already told me we were in for something good. The café itself is super cute cozy, airy, and just a whole vibe. Their menu is stacked with good options. We ordered the huevos rancheros, savory egg sandwich, and the Hilltop Dutch Baby, and everything was delicious, but OMG LISTEN... you HAVE to get the huevos rancheros. That dish was the star. No questions asked. Their matcha is fire, and of course we treated ourselves to some mimosas because balance if you are planning to have a group of friends eat there.. good luck during the busy times cause it does get packed and another thing you do bus your own table, but honestly, I get it... they are BUSY busy. Great spot to try!! Reviews looked good and they have an octopus and hearts, two of my favorites SO I had to! I'm not from here. Parking was on the street. Inside is cool in temperature. There's a fair amount of seating inside and two 2 seater tables outside. I ordered the Dutch baby Benedict. Delicious. The potatoes had a nice spice (light lemon tarty-ness) w the most perfect crunch! The skillet held a light, sweet bread like crust with the egg and ham. I've never had something like it before and it was tasty. Food prep time was fair for it being lunch time! The coffee was served in a glass cup i would normally use for cold drinks, (this was different to me) BUT was good. It is a self serve type place. You order, they bring the food but you grab the utensils, napkins, water, condiments and clean up after yourself. When I asked how much of one ingredient would be in a huge slice of their quiche, they showed me a cut piece so that I could tell if I would like it before ordering. I chose my usual breakfast sandwich instead, with their great touch of pickled red onions. Their side of potatoes with Mornay sauce is amazing. A big, fully ripe, very sweet strawberry on top of my strawberry-rhubarb champagne cake impressed me. The cake and frosting were also wonderful, but I've been finding ripe strawberries extremely rare up here. (I am from California.) I always enjoy the fresh orange juice. My friend had coffee that he told me was great. He enjoys the savory Dutch baby. He asked the owner about the topping ingredients that he found unusual. The owner said his chef came up with the creative toppings, and passed the compliment on to the chef, so we got to see her smile. This place is often crowded because it is so wonderful - as other reviewers have said, if you want a seat, you need to come early. We were the first customers there when they opened on a Saturday, and the place was almost full before we finished eating. I love the hours and the secrets out, I think if you come on the weekends before 8:30 you'll still get a seat but you have to get lucky as the time gets closer to 9. Minus one star for general attitude of staff more recently. I ordered several items and was not handed my baked goods for the kiddo, so when I got my latte and kid milk, I asked if I could also get the baked items and was told "you were supposed to get them when you ordered. You should've asked for them". I get it, there's a line at the register, you're busy. I also have a 3 year old and I already waited in the line once, so I don't think I should be held responsible for the cashier not giving me a cookie and croissant on a plate. Another recent time my husband and I ordered drip coffee with refill. I waited patiently in line for my husbands refill and was snapped at "did you pay for this?!" Like if you're going to act like that, maybe you should give me a refill token or something. I didn't even go back for my refill because I didn't want to deal with the attitude. I'm pretty sure it was the owner, since I've seen him every single time I've come. First time visit-part time IG stalker Everything here made me smile and filled my stomach with joy. Greeted by warmly by friendly employees. Menus are available as you walk in and you place your order at the counter. There are two very tempting pastry cases with something for everyone. I had the chicken sausage and egg sandwich for dine in and got several pastries to go. The sandwich was flavorful, filling and delicious. I loved the apple relish and pineapple aioli. Me and my girlfriend who like to try different unique places to eat, came here for brunch on a Thursday, about 11:30 am. It's very cute, clean and upbeat. People were coming and going and working on their laptops and enjoying the cool vibe, music and ambience. You can people watch a little bit out the window and there is a small bar in the back. We ordered the Chilaquiles as well as the savory sandwich to split. They did not disappoint! Delicious flavors and very unique compared to the typical Chilaquiles. It's almost like three tostadas with delicious black beans, Cotita cheese, scrambled eggs that were perfect, and a large chorizo, fresh sausage. The creamer on the Chilaquiles was delicious! They serve very large portions and everything is made to order. The people working there are really cool! Great vibe I will definitely be back again!! Went here with some girlfriends recently! It such a nice, cozy place. The menu looked amazing! We only had some coffee and I ordered a side of toast w/ their daily jam and that was delicious! I plan to go back soon to try out their actual breakfast items because they had a great selection and all the meals passing by us looked so good. They did a great job! I've been here a few times and the coffee is genuinely good - that's the highlight. Unfortunately, the service and food consistency haven't matched the quality of the drinks. On this visit, I ordered a pastry and was asked if I wanted it warmed. I said yes, but when it came out cold and I mentioned it, I was told, "Oh, we don't normally do that here." That was confusing since I was the one who was asked. My friend and I ordered sandwiches within moments of each other. Hers came out quickly, but after about 10 minutes I checked on mine and was told a large catering order had come in and they'd get to mine afterward. I understood and waited another 15 minutes, but it was odd since we ordered at nearly the same time. It didn't seem like smaller dine-in orders were being managed alongside catering. When my sandwich finally came out (the savory egg sandwich), it wasn't as balanced as it had been on previous visits noticeably less bacon and quite a bit more sauce. What was most disappointing was the tone afterward. A staff member (possibly the manager) came over and said, "Next time just order at the same time and we won't have a problem," while showing us the catering bags. That felt unnecessary and a bit dismissive. As customers, it shouldn't feel like we're inconveniencing the business. I really want to love this place because the coffee is solid, but smoother communication and more consistent food would make a big difference. What a cute little hidden gem! not only were our matcha lattes so creamy and delicious, our burgers we very flavorful and juicy!! Everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming (we messed up by not saying iced for our latte and received a warm drink and they were more than happy to replace it) it gets pretty busy during lunch time and seating is limited, however it's such a cozy spot for a quick lunch! We wanted try a new spot and that's how we ended up at Three Hearts. It was a busy-ish Saturday morning and the person at the register was super friendly and informative we told him it was our first time visiting. It was right before St Patrick's Day and they had some specials, so I went with the Corned Beef Hash. I was surprised it had peas in it, that was a first for me and I'm not a huge fan of them but they were totally fine. The portions are not huge, but I felt like I left satisfied... not hungry and not stuffed. It is a bit on the pricier side, but the food is decent. My friend got the savory Dutch baby. Came in-finally! Been wanting to come and check this place out. I took my Parents and out of town brother there last week. Caught it in a sunny Tuesday-which was a bonus. The setting was modern, with lots of cool plants-definitely a vibe. For a Tuesday at 12:30 it was busy. I ordered the brisket hash, and my brother ordered a sandwich, parents had fried eggs, potatoes, bacon and we got a rosemary sourdough loaf. Coffee: on point. Food: all plates were clean! Three Hearts got glowing reviews and I was eager to try it but the day we chose to come here there was no place to sit and we knew right away our order would be a "to go" order. Steve and I saw a nice Coconut (and Papaya I think) white cake and we ordered that in a "to go" box. I also ordered an iced Chai Tea. Steve had a simple request and that was drip coffee. His coffee was good and strong. My Chai tasted great but it was lukewarm. Neither iced nor hot despite the cashier repeating the order. The flavor of my drink however was good with whatever Chai mix they used. The dessert was not what we asked for at all when we opened up the box. It was like a sliced fruit tart. Again, it was good. But not what we requested. If we had the ability to dine in these issues could have been addressed better, that is for sure. But unfortunately as it seems more often than not new businesses and restaurants have a lot of kinks to work out and in this case it's quite apparent they aren't prepared to deal with a large customer volume all at once and communication between staff on the details of orders needs to be worked on as well. So would I go back? Well, even though our order was mostly inaccurate what we did wind up getting still tasted good. Three Hearts probably needs to work on how to get accurate orders while at the same time dealing with lots of customers all at once. There may be other hiccups also that I didn't detect but what I described above is the hiccups we came across. And a lot of times it takes time to get the kinks worked out so with that in mind and hopefully not during an excruciatingly busy time I we will reattempt another visit once we feel like those issues had been addressed. read more
