    Breakfast.... Yum
    Mike A.

Looking in an older part of Tacoma for breakfast and i found this place. Totally worth my time. Starting off parking was easy and it was FREE. Walking into the establishment it was well lit and the decor was simple but efficient. I was seated promptly and the menu and a glass of water so their after. It was a two sided menu, with a good variety for breakfast and lunch items too. I ordered breakfast. The service was consistent as my server did check on me and asked if I had any questions about the menu. I asked one and they were very polite explaining it. After my order showed up, I proceeded to eat it all. The combination of the eggs, tomatoes, bacon and cheese was equally satisfying and balanced. It was topped with Avocado slices ( slightly brown, but still good). The sourdough toast appeared to be from a freshly made loaf ( served with soft butter and raspberry jam) and the hash browns were cooked lightly. Overall this place will do well in this part of town. Yes, I would return again. Good service, good selection and great prices too!!

PERFECTLY MADE WAFFLES!!! Service was very busy going on a Sunday afternoon. We had to wait a few minutes for a table but once we were seated, we weren't forgotten. They checked in a good amount of times. The atmosphere doesn't give off old diner vibes but one that's bright, clean and cheerful. ALSO so thankful they were able to accommodate my son's allergies! They cooked his meal on a separate pan to avoid cross contamination. 10/10!

I have visited Waffle Stop a few times and I swear I thought I left a review but better now then never right? I can say without a doubt that Waffle Stop is a fantastic breakfast spot in Tacoma with a cozy and fun ambiance with the cutest cups and fun decor. That's why finding parking from their opening to closing hours can be pretty difficult as they are just that popular! They also have some of the best service in the city with everyone being professional and have such warm service. My boyfriend and I are suckers for their garlic parmesan waffle fries as well their herbed ranch, we get it literally every time we dine in. The waffles here are all good no matter which kind you get and there are so many different kinds. Their coffee and lemonades are great too, and they always have latte art on your coffee drinks which I love! I've only have had two minor complaints. One was finding an eggshell in my waffle when I brought home leftovers and I couldn't really do anything about that since I was at home. My other issue is that when you order online you get charged a bag fee even if you are ordering a drink and it took some time to get my drink. They were busy though so I wasn't upset as I get how hectic it is for everyone in the restaurant. I didn't receive a bag for my order so I just feel they should fix that in the system or offer the bag since I paid for it. Other than that, they are worth checking out! They also have a great rewards program and you can buy their amazing ranch to bring home or buy their cups!

OMG this was the most fun experience since I rode the Skydiver at the Carnival. Food was delicious. Saw a Kevin Spacey doppelgänger (Usual Suspects KS) and then there was Cole. He made the visit most memorable. Loved our server Christi too. Traveled all the way from Boston and would do it again.

Came here for brunch and this spot did not disappoint! I tried their waffle parm fries which was LOADED. I tried their strawberry banana Nutella waffle. It was so gooood. The texture of the waffle was crunch on the outside and just right in the inside. I will def be back here for more!

I wanted to love this breakfast spot. It was my first time here. I got the strawberry Nutella waffles. My waffle was super dry and hard to eat, but my coworkers got the regular waffles and they were better. My iced coffee was just ok nothing amazing.

Food was delicious however I am only giving it 4 stars due to the fact that three of us ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken & Waffle and not a single one was spicy. They also stated that unless we wanted to wait 25 minutes 2 out of 3 of us would need to get the regular waffle (which tastes perfectly fine so it didn't impact my score). Either way, make reservations ahead of time if coming for brunch as it gets pretty busy.

The chicken on the Nashville hot chicken and waffles were out of this world good- the breading stayed on and the chicken was perfectly thin and moist. I'm mad that we didn't come sooner on our trip. The waffle was a little tough/over done BUT if you want a bangin waffle, get the buckwheat protein waffle - absolutely delicious and you are doing a good thing for your body! I don't know if they add anything to their OJ but it was nicely sweet so it paired well with the chicken. Also they do have regular or sugar free syrup as I'm not the biggest fan of hot honey.

    SOUTH OF THE BORDER SCRAMBLE

Wafflestop is exactly that. A place to stop for waffles. I got the bacon avocado omelette which looked tiny on an almost empty plate because I opted out of toast and hash browns. Mom got the South of the Border which was a huge plate with all the fixings. I've been here before so I can vouch for the waffles, but couldn't try them this time. Too bad I've changed my ways because otherwise I'd smash that cookie butter chai latte. If you're keto or going low carb like me, skip the hash browns and potato and they'll throw in a strip of bacon. It looks pathetic compared to what you get if you take the hash brown and toast, but it's something? They need more low carb side options. I like how they go the opposite of diners like Dennys, who give you a small cup and it takes you awhile to get a refill, by giving you a big mug of coffee that you probably won't need refills. I didn't at least Weekdays are nice because I'm here at the crunching hour and it's busy, but there are plenty of tables. Forgot about it on weekends.

Ask the Community - Waffle Stop

    Do they have high chairs?

    Yes

Any vegan options? Red Elm and a few other places make fantastic waffles, but another option would be great!

Toast, with wonderful raspberry jam, delicious hashbrowns. Otherwise there's dairy in the waffles, eggs are eggs. No vegan options for bacon on this planet can compare to real bacon. The Waffle Shop is unlikely to carry tofu cakes or plant-based…

Is there usual a wait for seating?

I've been twice (both on Sunday) depending upon the group size it seems to be 10-20 minute waits

Is there prices? I wanna see some prices before I make that drive.

The price range was $9-$17 from what I saw today. But well worth it. Quality ingredients and taste and portions! We're from Seattle but this is the only place I wanna go for breakfast now even though it's a 30-45 minute drive defending on traffic.

Do you happen to have anything that would work for a vegan for breakfast?

Berry oatmeal with oat or almond milk, toast & raspberry jam, fantastic hashbrowns.

Any updates on a gluten free waffle option?

Nope. They "don't have the freezer space." So their "plans" won't be in effect any time soon it appears.

I see no phone number. Does this mean you don't take reservations? Is there usually a long wait if "no?"

Hello Stacie! I’m sorry our phone number isn’t showing up! Our number is (253) 267-5026. We take reservations for parties of 6 or larger. Usually we do have a wait between 10-30 minutes on the weekend for a party of four. Otherwise, you are safe to…

Any plans to offer gluten free waffles in the near future? :)

Hello Marie! Thank you for asking! Yes, it is something we plan on looking into. It is our most requested item!

Does the Nashville chicken come al carte and in something besides a breast?

According to the servers answer, this is their style of chicken and waffle.

I literally ate everything on my plate. Then we came back on a Saturday early evening. And the food tasted old. I noticed when I was checking my receipts on Saturday. The guy has said oh you don't have to tip because you're a huge party. When a party of six your tip is automatically included which is the 18%. and I was like oh wow we had six on Tuesday and I left a $25 cash tip. And he said although waiter should've told you it's automatically taken out and the 18% was already taken care of. And I was like no I handed the waitress $25 cash and she never said 18% was taken out and I didn't pay attention to my receipt cause I had children with me but then when I looked back in my car on Saturday night from Tuesday, I realize that she double charged me. So on Tuesday she got over a $50 tip. The waitress on Tuesday she was a Hispanic lady with dark black hair. She robbed me. So please be aware you're going with the party of six or more. They automatically take out 18% gratuity. And I did not like that because she should've told me that you don't have to leave cash. She knew my kids were crying and I was trying to yo leave and not distract the other guest. But on the positive note, the place is nicely decorated. And service is good. My last review was honest but a 1star- now they could have ignored it, denied it or even got rude about it- after all others have (see aspen house) But no, they reached out and asked to open up dialogue- they asked what could be done and they APOLOGIZED- ownership and accountability! The communication was on point and the definitely made good on everything! So we set out to give it another go- and seriously- I may have a new place to hang out! As a non drinker your average joint has water juice or soda- not here The selection of non alcoholic beers and the DELICIOUS MOCKTAILS!!!! A place that doesn't get upset when you order a fancy non alcoholic drink- and you get the feel of being a part of it all not just sippin a soda! Loooved ! Personally hooked on the sweet n tangy- (Sweet & Tangy DHOS Orange, lemon & lime juice, simple, & raspberry puree ) ---delicious! They only carry high end liquor and make their drinks definitely top notch! The kind of place that values quality!!! While keeping the prices competitive and honest! Now the food- BRIE- ohhhh the Brie dishes!!! Not many places create food art- creative delicious classic combos with a unique twist! Absolutely the place to check out and try a new dish! Unique items that I'm dying to go back for!!! One definitely to try-- "Apple Brie Grilled Cheese Apple chutney with caramelized onions, granny smith apple slices, brie & cheddar cheese, melted between parmesan crusted 3 Hearts Bread" yummmmmmm The best part though- the people- friendly outgoing crew that you can tell genuinely care about each other and also care about making sure that the people stopping by have a wonderful experience!!! Can be smidge hard to find due to construction that should end soon but worth the hunt!!! A total Gem!! Good quality food, excellent service, and a 10/10 place to stop in! After what I believe to have been 2 years of saying that, that day has finally come. First, parking near the restaurant was limited, however finding parking in the residential area was fine. We found parking about 2 minutes away from the restaurant. As we came with my best friend, who, by the way, was the reason why I finally stepped foot here, wait time wasn't long as she came about 5 minutes earlier than I. We came for brunch and it was busy but the wait was not bad at all. The both of us ordered the same items on the menu from both the drinks, the main and dessert - a sangria, Shakshuka with lamb, and beignets. We also brought our daughters with us. They ordered a cheeseburger with a side of caesar salad and a mac n cheese dish from the kids menu. Our orders were delicious, although I was expecting the shakshuka dish to be heftier. For the price - $17. xx with an additional $4 to add lamb - it was a little disappointing, to be honest, especially since it was lacking in the lamb department. I was still hungry but thankfully I had my 4 year old's leftover cheeseburger and salad to fill me right up. As for the beignets, it was good. I don't have anything to compare it to since I don't know what an actual beignet tastes like. Would I return? Sure.

She gave us great recommendations, always served with a smile, checked in on us during the meal, and refilled our water. Very satisfied! Taste: Pizza: There's a funny little story: supposedly, Marco Polo went to China and saw pies, but didn't know how to wrap the filling inside, so he just put it on top--and thus the pizza was born. Personally, I think this is a myth, or many people have started fantasizing about Marco Polo because they think he was too great. But according to various unearthed historical records in China, Marco Polo never actually went to China. In fact, around 2010, more than 20 scholars organized an event called "Retracing Marco Polo's Route." After completing the journey and comparing it to what Marco Polo himself recorded, most of them concluded that he probably never made it to China. Sorry, I have a strong urge to share--went off on a long tangent about Marco Polo. But the pizza was really delicious. It should be truly fire‑baked, not oven‑baked. The sauce was well‑balanced, and the toppings were generous and fresh. My wife and I ate more than half of it! Salad: The dressing and cheese were very generously applied, and the greens were fresh. Chicken wings: They had a pleasant sweet‑savory taste, just right. Unlike most American restaurants where they're too salty or too sweet, these were perfectly balanced. All the dipping sauces were good. Overall, highly recommended!

We shared a veggie pizza as a starter then enjoyed two pasta entrées. The beet and chèvre ravioli were unique and tasty; the added salty crunch from the pistachio was a nice addition. My guy had the spicy lamb sausage rigatoni in vodka sauce. The heat was perfect and I'm glad I got a sample. I highly recommend Wooden City, y'all!

No reservation, so we ended up at the bar -- worth noting that the regular seating, despite it being a large space, gets booked up fast so plan ahead if you're coming with a group or prefer a table. The atmosphere more than made up for it though -- really well put together decor, dimly lit but somehow still vibrant and lively. Service was good, nothing over the top. Drinks were really good. The burger was a standout -- loved the caramelized onions. The burrata appetizer rolls were also excellent, highly recommend those. The veggie pizza was decent -- the dough was great but the toppings were a bit bland. Asked for red chili flakes which helped, but it could use a bit more flavor out of the gate. Solid stop if you're passing through Tacoma and not feeling seafood. Worth going out of your way for.
