Three Hearts got glowing reviews and I was eager to try it but the day we chose to come here there was no place to sit and we knew right away our order would be a "to go" order. Steve and I saw a nice Coconut (and Papaya I think) white cake and we ordered that in a "to go" box. I also ordered an iced Chai Tea. Steve had a simple request and that was drip coffee. His coffee was good and strong. My Chai tasted great but it was lukewarm. Neither iced nor hot despite the cashier repeating the order. The flavor of my drink however was good with whatever Chai mix they used. The dessert was not what we asked for at all when we opened up the box. It was like a sliced fruit tart. Again, it was good. But not what we requested. If we had the ability to dine in these issues could have been addressed better, that is for sure. But unfortunately as it seems more often than not new businesses and restaurants have a lot of kinks to work out and in this case it's quite apparent they aren't prepared to deal with a large customer volume all at once and communication between staff on the details of orders needs to be worked on as well. So would I go back? Well, even though our order was mostly inaccurate what we did wind up getting still tasted good. Three Hearts probably needs to work on how to get accurate orders while at the same time dealing with lots of customers all at once. There may be other hiccups also that I didn't detect but what I described above is the hiccups we came across. And a lot of times it takes time to get the kinks worked out so with that in mind and hopefully not during an excruciatingly busy time I we will reattempt another visit once we feel like those issues had been addressed. read more

Met friends at Three Hearts for brunch. Parking was easy and the place is nicely decorated with healthy plants and octopus paintings/murals. The food was delicious. I was on the fence about breakfast food versus lunch but it didn't matter because breakfast and lunch are served all day. You heard it here folks! Love the options! The blackened chicken sandwich was flavorful. The tofu scramble was okay--something in it was overly crisp, maybe potatoes. The bakery goods are off the hook. I wanted the mini lemon pound cake but went with the lemon curd cruffin, which was a terrific choice. When we arrived, we had to jockey for a place to sit but ppl are great about sharing table space. The vibe is so nice you can really enjoy your conversation and the staff is wonderful. Happy to have made this discovery. read more

Three hearts is a great breakfast and lunch spot. The cafe is very cozy and inviting, my daughter really enjoys the terrarium with toy dinosaurs inside. The service was quick and friendly, you just order at the counter. They have a fairly broad menu and I haven't tried a lot of it but I can vouch for the savory Dutch baby and can't wait to try everything else. One thing I really liked about three hearts was that they serve both their lunch menu and breakfast menu all day, so you really do have a wide variety of options. We had chose to have a spontaneous hangout day in Tacoma and chose to eat here for late brunch. We did not expect the food to be so jam packed with flavor! We had ordered both the savory Dutch baby as well as the tofu scramble. Both were very unique and delicious in their own right. The pickled cabbage on the Dutch baby and the lemon seasoning on the potatoes stood out to me the most. Service here was also very friendly! Although we came towards closing, they were more than happy to have served us regardless of nearly clocking out! The look and feel of this establishment also suites the vibe. I loved the contrast of old and new architecture. Plenty of open space to dine, relax and converse. Overall I give this place a 5 start rating. Without a doubt. Very yummy! The Tofu Scramble and Braised Tofu sandwich were delicious as was the coffee. Great seasoning and food blends! Maybe because it was so tasty, but I thought the portions were a bit small. I might also suggest using a little less oil. read more

Nothing stands out but it's a solid "would order again." Wouldn't go out of my way for one though but if in the area. - Lemon curd cruffin. 10/10. Hands down best croissant I've had in the Northwest (Portland included). Curd filling was proportioned well. I like the size a lot. Harder to share these because of the filling. With a plate you could. - Chicken sausage sandwich with pineapple aioli. 6/10. Chicken sausage texture felt like the commercial microwave was used and got lost in the amount of bread and egg. Pineapple aioli was too sweet for the pallet of everything else. Bread is super fresh, but again proportions don't add up. What would make it better: dice the sausage and put in the fluffy eggs (eggs were just right and grilled well). Add spice /pepper and tone down pineapple- or use a different aioli entirely. Oil or butter bread insides to help absorb flavor (there isn't cheese and the oils from that typically help bind). Atmosphere- 8/10 Laid back, vibrant greenery is only decor besides an octopus mural -does include Simple is good. Lacquered bar. Fresh fresh bakery. Full bar, likely fun evening spot. Service - 8/10. Low staff in general for the crowd size but I imagine that's a trade off for reasonable prices. And I think prices are reasonable. Fairly friendly. I give it a bump from a 7 to 8 because they are one of few places with a good menu open before 8am on a weekday, especially Tuesday. Location- 6 or 7/10. Depends on your routine. I do not frequent this area and not the easiest for parking. Need to be aware of expected not as friendly encounters, but could be a lot worse. If you take the train this a a great location as it's right by a stop. Overall: if you are on a croissant hunt this is a must try. Would stop if on the way to something early morning again. Was thinking this would be a place a grab a quick hot hand held breakfast to go for my kid before hockey camp. This is not a place for that, but a cool vibey neighborhood coffee shop where families and older folks come in to spend their Saturday mornings, where the coffee is awesome and where they serve ginormous slices of delicious quiche that takes what feels like an eternity for a starving 14 year old to heat through all the thick, savory goodness. I was in a rush but I still received friendly and efficient response to being in a time crunch. My only regret is having to rush off to an ice cold rink and not being able to chill and enjoy the space. This is the kind of place that focuses on quality and the experience, and the hot food takes a bit because of the attention and care they put into it. read more

This place is semi new but sooooo good. I ate here for lunch one time and can't remember what I got, but I know I was able to eat here. Today I had a gluten and dairy free sandwich with sausage, egg, arugula, and apple aioli (or something like that), with a gluten free bun. It was soooo delicious! The aioli was dripping down my hand, which for me, that means something is really good. I also got a chai with hemp milk. I am also dairy free. My husband got the tofu scramble which is also vegan and gluten free and he said it was really good too! He said it was some of the best potatoes he has had in his entire life. I went back today and unfortunately had a not so great experience with the woman working the register/serving. She was very unwelcoming and honestly based on the experience with her lack of customer service and just general awareness of how to act and treat customers without being rude left a bad taste in my opinion. Perhaps she doesn't know restaurants and place of business depend on how you treat the people coming there? Unsure, but a little upsetting considering this is a gem of an establishment. read more

Ate here on our way out of town and we were not disappointed! I had a bfast sandwich on GF bread with grilled onions, bacon, balsamic, arugula, cheese and pickles red onions and it was probably the best bfast sandwich I've ever had! My husband had a basic breakfast and ate the whole thing (which says a lot because he's not usually a bfast food guy). The coffee was also delicious and the server was a super sweet guy. The ambiance was super cute and I loved their octopus logo. Was pretty crowded and all the patrons seemed very happy, which also shows the consistency and level of dedication this place must have. Oh what a joy to have found this place. We are new to the state and are thrilled to have been introduced to this place! Our friend brought us sourdough bread from here our first day and now, sourdough IS my favorite bread and this places has INCREDIBLE sourdough. So we came to eat here for lunch today. Unbelievable. I love the vibe of this small cafe. We found it by doing a quick search for nearby coffee places. I addition to coffee, there was an assortment of fresh pastries and delicious breakfast and lunch offerings. Please go and try the quiche. It's the fluffiest and thickest slice I have ever had. This town needs bread. I saw some reviews on google and had to come try the sausage roll. One person in front of me and one sausage roll left. They just got coffee thank you (sigh of relief). It was 5/5 loved the spices in the sausage and the bread had that nice crispy/soft texture. I got some other stuff like a savory stuffed brioche with onion jam and it had some kind of gravy throughout. I was so happy. Left with a country sourdough loaf and just tried it with some soup... 5 hearts out of 3. Everything was seasoned perfectly and if I didn't eat all the leftover Halloween candy I would've gotten some sweets because the coconut cake looked amazing. Love the layout.
