She was patient and comforting with my mother and assisted me with navigating through the process of laying my uncle to rest. On the evening of the rosary and day of the burial, Nate from Salser & Dillard, was great. He and the other team members were helpful and attentive. Everyone from the ladies at the front desk to the ushers at the rosary were friendly and professional. I would highly recommend Salser & Dillard to anyone in need of a funeral home. I just can't thank them enough!

May 2025 A Compassionate, Respectful, and Seamless Experience During a Difficult Time…read more-Planning my father's funeral was one of the most emotionally difficult moments of my life, but Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel provided compassionate, respectful, and professional support from start to finish. I worked closely with Christina, who guided me through the funeral planning process with grace and empathy. She listened patiently to all my questions, comments, and concerns, and made sure I understood each detail before making any decisions. I appreciated how she respected my privacy and never made me feel rushed or pressured. Every change I requested was communicated clearly, and I felt truly supported throughout the entire process. I was especially grateful for the private time I was given with my father in the days leading up to the service something I will never forget. On the day of the funeral, everything went exactly as planned. Frank was incredibly kind and personable, helping ensure the service flowed smoothly and on schedule. His presence and professionalism brought a sense of calm to what was otherwise a very emotional day. Following the service, we moved directly across the parking lot to the reception venue, where I worked with Jessica as our event coordinator. Jessica was outstanding she helped plan every detail of our potluck reception, offered thoughtful suggestions, and made sure the space was beautifully arranged. Her professionalism and warmth were evident from our planning meeting through the day of the event. I was very pleased with the overall package we selected and the quality of service provided by both the funeral chapel and the event venue. During a time of deep sorrow, Salser & Dillard gave me peace of mind and allowed my family to focus on honoring and remembering my father. I am truly thankful for the care and support I received from the entire team.

Please do not order from this company…read more Their lack of compassion, accountability, and customer service during one of the most difficult times in my family's life was extremely disappointing. I ordered a custom urn for my infant granddaughter and paid for second-day shipping so it would arrive in time for us to receive her ashes. This was incredibly important to my daughter and our family, and I gladly paid the additional cost to ensure everything was ready when needed. Unfortunately, when the urn arrived, it was broken. Because of the time-sensitive nature of the situation, waiting for a replacement was not an option. I had to immediately find another urn locally so my granddaughter's ashes would have a proper resting place. I emailed the company photos of the damaged urn and requested a refund. Not only was there no apology for the inconvenience and emotional distress this caused, but there was also no consideration given to the circumstances. I was told the damage was a transportation issue and that they could only offer a replacement because custom urns are non-refundable. At no point did they take responsibility for what I believe was inadequate packaging. More importantly, they showed no empathy for a grieving family dealing with the loss of an infant. By the time they offered a replacement, I no longer needed one because I had already been forced to purchase another urn locally. I understand that shipping accidents happen. What I cannot understand is the complete lack of compassion, accountability, and willingness to make things right. If customer service and being treated with respect during a difficult time matter to you, I recommend taking your business elsewhere.

I rarely leave reviews, but I feel obligated to share my experience so others are aware…read more I was contacted on Tuesday and told my father's remains would be ready for pickup at the Sanger office on Wednesday between 11am-2pm. I arranged transportation and made the nearly hour-long drive, only to be told upon arrival that my father was not there and that I was not even on the schedule. The staff member present was kind and apologetic, and after attempting multiple calls to the main office with no answer, I was assured my father's remains would be delivered to my home the following day. It has now been over 24 hours since that promise, and I have received no communication, no update, and no explanation as to where my father is. Losing a parent is already incredibly difficult. Not knowing where their remains are--and being met with silence from the very people entrusted with their care--is deeply distressing and unacceptable. I am sharing this not out of anger, but out of concern for others who may trust this service during one of the most vulnerable times in their lives. At minimum, families deserve clear communication, accountability, and basic follow-through. I sincerely hope this situation is resolved quickly and that no other family has to experience this level of uncertainty.

I had the delight of speaking with Elver. Elver and I discussed my current situation. Before even continuing the conversation, Elver was extremely empathetic and compassionate which is truly a blessing as a loss parent with disenfranchised grief. He asked a few preliminary questions regarding when my Baby A had passed in utero, where I was delivering at, etc. Before I could elaborate on what I wanted, Elver explained the cost was basically the fees for the county permit and a death certificate should I choose to want one. Additionally, he gave me a brief run down as to the process which basically entails letting the hospital know who would be handling the cremation and when we would like them to pick him up and they would handle the rest. I have a friend handling all this for me upon delivery and I was able to easily relay this information to her. I am so glad Angel's is the first place I reached out to and I feel so at ease after speaking with Elver.

They told me they were remodeling and the smell was from mold. It would be gone b4 the service for our beloved Gary. We had to go down there several getting paperwork right for victim assistance program. React time I went to visit the funeral home it as worse and worse. I mean I've worked at trauma hospitals and I've smelled death before and the smell was definitely that of decaying humans. There is like 4 different funeral Homes run out of this place. When we did a family visitation our loved one's body was in bad shape. When I felt around him I realized that there he had ice packed all around him and his body was decaying. Also I was unhappy about all the thinking I had to do as far as the package. Nothing was explained about prayer cards, guest book , and when I remembered not talking about these little but important things the owner or supervisor never explained any of this to us so when I remembered it was a scramble nearing the big day to pick out these items and the obituary and they got the flower order all wrong as well. What a bad experience at a very difficult time when we counted in the professionals to help us make sure all the little items that we needed were included I wasn't concerned so uuuuy

I do not recommend this place to anyone. I contacted this place after my fiance passed away, after…read morespeaking with the receptionist who was very nice and pleasant and easy to talk to, I decided to go with Sterling & Smith. I regret it. I had quite a few appointments with them. The first one was just to get pricing in which my case manager hadn't even gaven me her name to refer back to her. The second appointment with zoey, no one told me I needed to bring in any documents. No one told me anything about what to bring . We sat down and talked about the prices and services. She spelled my fiance's name wrong in which I corrected her. I actually respelled it out for her 2x and I thought she had corrected it. She was very pleased and seemed sympathetic to my loss. This was the first time ever dealing with anything of this sort. The short viewing for close family members went fine. Except they never contacted me to tell me when his body got there, or to schedule the viewing- I called them each time. But when it came time to planning the memorial that's where everything went bad. Zoey had spelled my fiance's name wrong on the death certificate even after correcting her the first time and respelling it 2x the first time. Before our scheduled appointment to go over memorial details, I gave her his birth certificate and she was trying to downplay her error as something minor. Anyhow, she had no office to talk to me in, so we went into someone's office until they showed up, interrupting her presentation and throwing her off guard. So we can shuffled to the next room. In that room I'm looking at a prayer book as she escorts herself out of the room, she leaves the door open. As I'm having a hard time finding a prayer that I like, there's people about 3 ft away in the hallway just staring into the room that I'm in and it got so loud, I finally close the door. After not having a table to hold the flimsy book, I find the prayer that I like and that's when Zoe told me I went too far and I was only supposed to pick from the first 20 pages. There were like 60 pages to choose from. Theyre book of selections had things that they weren't even using anymore. She didn't even know why they were still in the book. Because of all the noise, I couldn't concentrate so I said I would schedule another appointment at at time when they weren' so busy. My appointment was at 10am. I called later around 4ish to cancel the memorial services and I wanted my money back after paying her in cash that morning. She said they had already taken the money to the bank and they would write me a check for it. Everytime, dealing with Zoey, I have had to reach out to them- because this place doesn't call you back. Now I find out, that my money is in Bakersfield with a "private accountant" and that my money will be mailed to me. No one- including the manager of sterling and smith will even give me this "private accountants" name to verify this is even true and now to fix the death certificate it will take even longer to fix it because Zoey has to go to my fiances doctor to correct the error. Why would she need to go to the doctor to fix something in which I gave her the birth certificate for. The manager of sterling and smith isnt even mentioned in the website. They also falsely advertise. In their website- they say they help with personalizations at memorial services. But when the issue came up, Zoey said they don't provide them. I just want to be done with this place. As it is, I took them 3 necklaces to be filled, 1 necklace could not be filed due to 3 people trying to open it and couldn't, or they couldn't close the necklace the correct way without stripping the screw. These necklaces were ordered on Amazon and we're custom made, so now I have to take it back. I just want to be done with this place. Everyone here was nice and pleasant, but I think if they had more funeral directors, and a bigger office, maybe Zoey could have done a better job. She maybe overloaded with work- but this is a job a person can't mess up with. This has been my worst experience ever

Too bad theres no rating of negative stars. I'd like to say. This place is a joke. Be careful!!!…read moreThe funeral director is dishonest and will charge you extra for his side gig towards the end of the service. He will state that you caused all these types of damage to his funeral home and ask you to pay for them before or he will discontinue his service of providing transportation to the burial ground so you would be cornered and pay for his "so-called" damages that have been there from decades ago. So if you dont listen and try this funeral home out....take pictures before so you can prove to him that your party didnt cause his damages because he will want to get paid for his side gig....he has been probably cheating people for years...but not to worry karma will come.

The restrooms are clean. They allowed us a few hours prior to the day of the funeral to set up flower arrangements and decors. The staff were nice, but I will come back to this comment towards the end. During our initial visit, David showed us the chapel and we were happy with all the good aspects listed above. Accommodation between us and David was good due to his flexibility with us. He was very professional, I thought. We were told by David no nailing or stapling decors on walls and ceiling, which we understood and agreed. During setup of the decor to the ceremony and in between, the staff sat in the back from time to time keeping a watchful eye, especially during the decoration part. Everything went smoothly until the last day when our loved one was to leave from Jesse E Cooley Jr Funeral Service to the church the morning of. David approached us and claimed that there were damages (holes) to the walls and scratches to the wooden floor board where the casket was. Here's where I promised I'd come back to my comment. The holes David said that "we" damaged were old damages. The holes were puttied, painted, and nowhere near where we were setting up our decorations. Who brings putty to patch holes and matching paint to funerals? Let me know if you do, please! The scratches, how is it possible it's us when it's his staff that pushed our loved one to and from that area every evening and every morning? But David claims he just works there and did a walk through and these were the damages caused by us. Funny how he didn't go through a walk through with us and did his own walk through to pin old damages on unsuspecting customers like ourselves. We didn't cause the damages and stood against his accusations. David stooped low of the lowest. He took an advantage of our vulnerability by holding our loved one hostage by not proceeding any further service until the damages he claimed we caused were paid in full. We ended up paying him for the damages in full. Turns out there were prior people who had used Jesse E Cooley Jr Funeral Service in the past. Guess what? It's a small world. Friends and families had their loved ones that used them before. They had pictures and videos. Those damages had always been there in some pictures and videos. How many family members had been taken besides us? I would imagine a lot. I'm not saying don't use them. Jesse E Cooley Jr Funeral Service is a nice chapel to give service for your loved ones. Should you decide to use Jesse E Cooley Jr Funeral Service, take lots of pictures and videos before using their facility. If you see anything that you might think they will use against you, they will. Point it out to them. Otherwise, your loved one will be held captive until you pay for something you didn't do.
