By far, the most random beer store I've ever seen in my life. Thrifty is located off Avenue U by Marine Park in an area that's mostly warehouses. It's a large beer store, with 5 deep aisles of beer and soft drinks. The usual suspects of craft beer are there (Left Hand, Dogfish Head, etc.) in 4/6 packs and cases. They don't do singles on those. However if you eastern European beers, you should go here. They have a lot of rarer German brands, in addition to plenty of Weihenstephaner and Scheider at very good prices. This definitely beats cruising around random delis in Russian areas to find things like Black Boss Porter and different Eisbocks. Service has been good albeit a bit slow when ringing people up occasionally. Pricing on beers can be really uneven though. I've seen some great deals (6 pack of Rodenbach for $12) and some overpricing of American craft beer. That makes shopping here a bit uneven. Still if you're nearby or explicitly seeking out the eastern European stuff, Thrifty works in a jiffy (see what I did there?). read more

You like beer, I like beer, it's obvious that everyone likes beer. So for us, beer lovers, there's only one place in the Marine Park area. Thrifty is my one stop shop for beer and beverages, and has been for a long time. Great selection of domestic and imported brews. All the major brands you'd expect and many small batch, craft brews that you probably wouldn't. They also have soft drinks and snacks so it's great if you are getting supplies for a party or a cookout. Prices aren't bad and If on a budget, they always have specials and sales. No need to go elsewhere, if you need some beer, go to Thrifty. read more

Growing up, this was my local beverage center. As the beer drinking public has switched from Macrobrews to Craft, Thrifty has been somewhat slow to fully embrace the change. You can find somr Founders, Alagash, Ommegang, Schafly, Left Hand and Brooklyn Brewery's selections, but not the truly high-end brews. I wouldn't expect to find a Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA or a Founders KBS anytime soon. Nothing but Macrobrews in the limited refrigerators. One plus, they carry Baltika Russian Imperial. read more

I got to say this place never disappoints. I've come here for all sorts of beers and 99.9% of the time they had it. To top it all off what made me give them 5 stars is the fact they carry KCCO beer. This is the only place in Brooklyn I know of that has it. The smoothest black lager I've ever tried. The owner is also an awesome guy. Keep up the good work guys! read more

Pretty good selection. They got your standard craft beers as well as a pretty good international section. Especially great if you like European beers. This is where I come when I'm missing Prague. The prices are generally good. Even if you aren't too particular about your beer, buying cases of anything AB InBev here is way cheaper than at the bodega. Oh, they also sell non-alcoholic beverages in bulk, like soda and water but I don't come here for that. They got parking, so load em up. read more

Thrifty's... The locale beverage center... I also label this place as an Alcoholic's version of Toy's R Us. No remarks on Thrifty's except the following... Drinks: Beverages are available in mass quantities, with such items as soda, beer, and water. Prices: Extremely competitive and favorable. It's best to shop Thrifty's on a quantity basis and use over time. Food: Various party snack foods ranging from Chips & Dip are also available for purchase. Customer Service: Always friendly! On numerous occasions, I've been asked if I needed assistance with locating / finding a beverage or required help carrying the item to the care. On one occasion, the staff contacted their sales office to inform me of when a particular beer would be available in the store. Parking: 4 to 5 spots in front of the store. There's additional metered parking around the corner. Needless to say, you'll find be spending a lot of money here. But it's all for good use. read more

The cashiers have terrible attitude; as though they don't want to be there. They don't look at the customer; they acted as though they were doing me a favor when I asked for a case of soda. While the cashier was counting out my change she faced the window & never looked at me; I noticed she did this with all the customers. Very uncomfortable shopping there. Shame; cause I would have given 5 stars due to a great selection! Honestly I've never seen such negativity like this in my entire life! read more

A great selection of booze and snacks for parties and holidays where you need all that beer (which according to the traffic they generate, even Arbor Day qualifies), but I am not sure exactly where the savings are, as they seem about par, maybe a little less. Likely, savings add up in volume when you're straining the shocks on your SUV with an entire palette of manly Bud, not my nerdish 4 pack of Stewarts birch beer. Hey at least you can dump off your empties for the deposit back without waiting outside supermarkets with those broken down machines. They also frequently have reps (20 year olds in shortshorts and micro t's) with tables and samples for some new 21 and older beverage. read more

Thriftey has a great selection and good sales at times, but I am really tired of getting skunk beer especially Coors and Bud products from the fridge. I have had better luck with warm selections but still end up with skunk beer often from this place. I find Rite Aid to have better prices and fresh beer. read more

This place is the best. Look for deals on different beers. Expand your horizon. Try a different beer on special. I get my standard weekly 30 pack but mix in a nice 6 or 12 special ones. Great people working on front of counter and behind. Been a customer since 2003. read more

You LIED!!!! was told come in SB sunday buy case of bud lite get a football first come basis. At 0930 SB sunday i was DENIED and was told they were for regular customers. There are other centers closer to my home but have visited thrifty several times. I guess you dont know people or a business untill they keep or don't keep their word. keeping your word would attract customers i would think! NOt worth going out of your way for.And could care less about a football but do care about the places shop and how i'm treated. I wrote a negative review on here a few months ago but I'd thought I'd give this place another try. It's getting worse! They wouldn't take our bottles one day because they were closing early... What type of business is that??!! I asked another worker and he or she claimed they were "short-staffed." Ridiculous! Have somebody else do it. And, get your story straight! Worst of all is the attitude of the cashiers. Horrible customer service! I'm reluctant to talk or ask them anything. So uncomfortable. Especially the stout one with the short black hair. After recycling a few soda cans at the redemption center next door, which I must say that the gentleman that works there is always pleasant, I went next door to both purchase a few bottles of beer, as well as redeem my payment for recycling. So after purchasing my items, I had asked for the paper back from the redemption center. The older cashier lady refused. I wanted the paper back so that I could simply recycle it. But instead she was as nasty as can be. The words that came out of of her mouth were absolutely disgusting, all because I made a simple request so that I can help the environment. I really have no more words to say. I do want to say that I will never step foot in this store again for the disgusting treatment that I was given. read more
