We have waited 3 weeks for a delivery. 3 contacts made in the last week and all we get is, "we'll notify dispatch and they will call you with a delivery date". Still no call or date. Today I was disconnected from dispatch 9 times. Once after waiting a half hour. The live chat feature on their website gave us the same results...a big nothing and just a touch of attitude to anger me further. We signed up with this company because our landlord said they use them and had no issues. Well they must be the exception to the rule because I have spent my afternoon researching this company while on hold all afternoon. Purchased a 500 gal direct burial tank and 500 gallons of propane OVER A YEAR AGO !! they kept telling us we were next on their install list ...or it's going to be another 2 weeks , lie after lie we were told ..they were very rude and unprofessional...after being lied to for 14 months , we decided we just wanted our money back...we paid in full in the beginning! What I have learned: The prices are great and worth the hassle if you go in with the following mindset: - Plan to not know when you will receive your propane after your order. - Have plenty of Propane in your tank when you place your order (nothing less than 30% during Winter) - They are swamped with orders. There is a reason they offer such low prices for pre-buy. Once they have your money, you discover that they do not offer service in the time they promise, nor do they answer their emails, messages, posts on their FB page, or any other means of communication. And when you DO finally connect with a person, they will tell you that a) they don't have the information you are seeking, b) cannot help you with your need and you need to speak to customer care, c) are sending a message to "dispatch" to move things along, and d) attempt to transfer you to customer care where you are left with a message and a full message inbox so you can't leave a message. We have not had a delivery nor any return phone call to advise us when we can expect our paid-for-already delivery. I have used Thrifty twice and BOTH TIMES they took money they were not entitled to and it took 4 months the first time to get the money back and this second time, I am still waiting!! The first time was in January 2017. I paid the driver with a check for the full amount right when he delivered the propane. Thrifty then charged the credit card my recently passed husband had had on file. After 4 months of trying to get them to refund the credit card or issue me a check, I had to file a claim with my credit card. Only then did I get the $1,200+ back. Then, in late March of this year, while I was out of state, my daughter ordered propane for me because the tank was at zero (didn't want the pipes to freeze.) I arrived home on April 3rd and made arrangements for a local company to come the next day and cancelled the order with Thrifty as they were saying it would be 10 business days before they could deliver the propane. They then went ahead and took $1,408.75 from my checking account. When I called and asked for them to put it back, they said it would take 10 business days. Today is the 12th business day (counting from April 4th, the day I asked for the refund) AND I STILL DO NOT HAVE MY MONEY BACK. Thrifty is the most unscrupulous company I have EVER had the misfortune to deal with. When I attempted to call today to inquire about why I have not received the money back in my account, I dialed every number available on the internet for the company, the phone was answered and immediately hung up. I can only assume that they have blocked my telephone number. I am going to go to the court house today and file a claim in small claims court to get my money back. We responded to a promotion Thrifty Propane put out in November of 2019 and pre-bought 3,000 gallons of propane that came with a free tank. We were told the tank would be set in 6-8 weeks. It's July of 2020 and we still don't have a tank. We called numerous times over the winter and spring and finally asked for a full refund. They said they'd refund the money, but they didn't so we called again and again. Note: the billing department is never in, apparently. We just had to leave messages that mostly went unanswered. Finally, we did get a refund but it was for three hundred less than what it should have been. So we began calling again. When confronted with the actual numbers, the person we were speaking to said she'll have to transfer us to billing (but I was pretty sure she was the person in billing?!). She transferred me to the voicemail in billing and the call wasn't returned. But, somehow, a week or so later another refund check showed up for the right amount. Altogether, this company feels like a shady business that doesn't honor the promises they make. Their customer service is very poor. In the spring of 2020, we saw another promotion they were running so we called in and asked how soon we could have a tank set. The rep we talked to said we could have it in 8 weeks firm. Then we asked why we've been waiting since November 2019 for a tank and he became very angry and was quite rude. It's not worth the savings to deal with such an untrustworthy company. This place might have slightly cheaper propane to draw new clients in but the service is absolutely the worst ever, they never deliver on time, they have a third party phone team that has no clue. They can't look anything up and can simply take your information and claim to put a request in for a fill but that only happens maybe half the time. You have to call back 3 or 4 times after two weeks to get someone to come out. You can't get anyone from thrifty to call you back regardless of how many messages or online requests you make. It's a non stop game, don't let your tank get to low before calling them because you'll have no clue when they may or may not show up to fill your tank. Cheap isn't always better. I called Thrifty again today and said that our tank was almost empty but they still could not tell me when they could deliver. We have used this company for 10 years but will now be switching. We were told 7-10 days for delivery. On day 11, I called and was told that it was now 15 days and that I should have been told that initially. On day 16 I called and was told they couldn't give me a delivery date, they would call dispatch and get me an update. No update was ever given. We ran out of propane on day 17. I called and was told they would bleed the lines at no extra charge (normally over $100 for the service) because of the length of time it took for us to get delivery. Called on day 18 and was told that they had a propane shortage and that they didn't know when we would get delivery. Finally on day 23, we got delivery. Asked the driver to bleed the lines, told us it wasn't necessary. After he left, I switched from our heat pump to the propane (it was 20 degrees) and the furnace wouldn't light because IT WASN'T GETTING PROPANE!!!!! Called Thrifty back, said someone would call me and they would get someone out there. Never happened. Called an HVAV company, paid $120 to have them bleed the lines for us. Put a complaint into the BBB and Thrifty's response "we don't get air out of lines, call HVAC". It is literally a service they advertise on their site that you HAVE to pay for if your tank is empty!!!! Inexcusable lack of customer service, especially when people are paying hundreds or thousands of dollars for a product. Delivery was to be Monday Oct 5th. I took off a day of work unpaid to get this all taken care of. Did not hear from anyone until late in the day saying truck broke down. I asked for anther truck to be dispatched and was told they did not have any drivers as two just quit. Not really sure what the true reason was, but either way I missed a day of wages. Was rescheduled for Tuesday, Oct 20. I was off all day and never got confirmation or a call canceling. Another day of missed wages. I truly cannot afford to miss any more work.
