No help from the physical staff there and no help from the website and or phone number. First night we called and there was 17 callers ahead of us, when we got to 1, about a hour and 45 minutes, the call hung up and now when we call it seems that the number is a scam number. Very Unprofessional and TOTAL waste of time!! We paid extra for the speed tickets and wasn't able to get in because they locked the gate before the entry time.We tried to get in and we talked to plus size man with glasses he was very rude and unwilling to assist us and told us to call, kicked us out without explanation and unwilling to call a manager keep in mind we were still in the timeframe while talking to him. Ihad been wanting to come here for years and finally decided the wait was long enough and went all the way out there from fort worth. I drove an hour and 15 min to this house and honestly it was not worth the drive, the highlight of my drive was going to bucees to get gas. I bought tickets online and it made me choose a time so I picked the 8:30-9:30pm slot because the later ones were already full. Got online to buy tickets before I made the drive, cool no problem with the website, got my QR code all good. I highly suggest stopping at that Travel Center right outside the park to use the bathrooms because those porta-potties are not clean. There is big travel center gas station right as you exit the high way to go into the park cant miss it. After that go down the road and you can see the haunted house from the street along with a giant sign "thrillvania" cant miss it. Do slow down because this road has lots of potholes. Once you enter they make you pay for parking $10, would be nice if they would have offered a discount on parking if you paid online but i did not see any of that. There is plenty of parking in their grass lot. They give you a ticket to place on your dash and they also give you a QR code to scan to 'wait in line virtually" then you get a text saying to head up to the ticket booth. I got there right at 8:30pm and got a text back immediately to head to the ticket booth. Once you head towards the ticket booth there is a line you have to wait in, once you get to the front of the line it splits into 'online ticket' and 'purchase tickets. I honestly think this needs to be reorganized, I should not have to wait in line when I already purchase my tickets, make 2 lines, one for online tickets and another for actual ticket purchasing. There also needs to be signs clearly pointing out where to go because at one point i went through security and went to the shed where they had the liability waivers and i was told to go back to get a ticket.... well i have my ticket... online... 'oh no you have to go back and get a physical ticket'.... well that defeats the purpose of a digital ticket. ..........anyways, like I said....there need to be signs that clearly say this or that..... I went back to the ticket window...they scanned my online QR code, they gave me a physical ticket, then I went through security then I went and sign the liability waiver everyone must sign. No outside food/drinks allowed and no bags/purses allowed so only carry what you want. I had a feeling they would have food for purchase inside but since they didnt let me carry my bag they would not get any business from me. Once you pass the waiver tent there is a barn you go through and they explain where everything is. They will tell you to start at the clowns but I skipped it and went straight for the big attraction. Since I got there early in the night I only spent maybe 5 or 10 min in line for the main haunted house. The whole run-through of the house itself was about 10-12 min. I really like the decor but they lacked actors to scare people with. At one point the group in front of us had slowed down and our group got clustered with them so at one point, in the end, it was a group of 15 people which was not fun. They need to have more staff in here telling people to slow down or stop. This attraction is also not ADA friendly since you go up and down stairs and hallways so narrow my shoulders touched the walls. The clown house had along line when I get in but it move really quickly and spent maybe less than 10 min waiting in line. They had really loud music playing in there, it was electric house music and felt I could do a rave in here with all the black lights and lighting. They also had some bright neon art that looked like it was supposed to be used with some 3D glasses. They had a rotating tunnel so that was fun. Just like the big house this one lacked actors to scare you but it was decent, at least you could see in this one. The last one is the 'haunted trail' , you walk through this path and pass about 5 small shed-looking 'houses'. Once again they did not have enough actors to really give you your money's worth. At one point in the trail my group ran into the group that was 5 min ahead of us, therefore, clustering us up and not making it that much scary. Towards the end they had a pig pen style house where someone with a chain saw chaises you and that was fun. I think the trail overall took about 15 min or so go finish. We ended up leaving around 10:30 pm to make the long one-hour drive back to fort worth. Overall I liked it, it was fun but not really scary. The lines did move quickly compared to some of the other houses I been to, It was crowded but that was expected since it was the weekend before Halloween. They are open rain or shine and when i went it was raining and the grounds were muddy so bring boots if you have them. Three attractions for $65. Total rip off!!! We were in and out AND back in the car in 30min. IF you do go, the speed pass allows faster entry and we had zero wait time. But three attractions for that much money, don't waste your time. Go somewhere else. There were two food stands but absolutely nothing else. The smoke in the maze so so strong it made a couple of us start coughing. Years ago there was plenty of extra things to do for those that don't want to go in the mansion. Such a shame. read more

Haunted house was okay. The first house was just a bunch of loud noises and the last house the fog was hella thick so I couldn't really breathe or see. The main reason I'm writing this though is the tickets. If you buy a speed pass ticket it includes the ticket with it. It's not two separate things like six flags. I made that mistake and talked to the office lady and she told me to go to the website and click the chat button and talk to them. Well the next day that's what I did. Contacted them, explained my situation and they agreed they would give me my refund for my ticket and get in contact with me. I did that twice the same day and nothing. Now 2 days later I still have yet to get in contact with anyone and I'm stuck 240$ lost. Overall I wouldn't say the park compliments the price. read more

It used to be so much better. I've been here twice about eight years ago . It used to be so packed and thriving. There would be little performances throughout the park. There used to be a whole lot more workers in scary costumes. It was so busy, I could walk around outside of the haunted houses and have a good time looking at the performances and checking out the intense costumes. This was Saturday night around 9pm. It was dead... like this park! Lol We got VIP tickets. But honestly. The wait would have been like 15 mins to none without the VIP. This is such a great location. You get three attractions for around $35-45. Its on acreage of land. So pretty spread out. It could be so much more. I wonder what happened to this place. Why Is it dying? There's a clown house, Vernon mansion, and a trail. Sounds great! Until you get here. I think the clown house and the trail was the scarier of the three. Mainly cause I don't like clowns. Other than that... Idk how long thrillvania will survive if this keeps up. read more

My family and I decided to take in a haunted house this weekend. We chose Thrillvania because we'd been there a few years back, and we had a blast. Boy, times have changed. The whole system is 100% disorganized. You pay $10 cash for parking, and you are not allowed to carry a purse inside. There are no signs to direct you and nobody is around to help you out except for the VERY rude staff. If you buy your tickets online, be expected to wait in a looooooooooong line to sign a waiver. After the waiver, you can go to will call and pick up your tickets. The best option is to pay at the door where you get your ticket and sign the waiver in one fell swoop. Be prepared for a security scan, too! Once inside, you have your choice of 6 or 7 of the filthiest port-o-potty's I've ever seen in my life. I nearly peed in the grass to avoid contracting the plague. There are three attractions, one food truck and a tent selling candy. That's it! The attractions are so-so, and the "characters" need some new material. Save your gas! Save your money! Save your time! $150 down the drain. read more

Thrillvania is always on my fall haunted house tour every year. I always enjoy coming in and getting to dance to some EDM, with some clowns I have grown to know through the years. It's a great way to get going, but because of the dancing. Not because I had any scares whatsoever. We are truly in need of some upgrades. It's been the same layout/decor for years, and we need something fresh. We all know a chainsaw clown chases you out, let's switch things up a bit and give it more storyline. As far as the main house goes, the decor has been top tier for a long time. (Always loved going through the cave part. Lol) They have added things here and there, but not extensively. But let's all say it together...WHERE ARE THE SCARE ACTORS?! I already have to be told to go in with a big group of strangers, the least you could do is have a decent amount of actors, so maybe I'll get 2 scares. I think I maybe jolted once. This and the trail had a sever lack of actors. I genuinely felt like I was walking through Ripley's Believe it or Not, not a haunted house. It was a house tour with no host. Really enjoyed a new scare towards the end of the trail, but the 3 actors isn't nearly sufficient. So much potential...just get us some actors! read more

I love this haunted house! Yes it can get very crowded! I suggest getting there early and on a Friday or Sunday if possible. The Verdon Manor is probably the best. It has some really gruesome effects! They are well worth it though. I've been so many times and there are still things that make me jump. The theater is nothing special honestly. I think they added this purely for the younger ones that come to the park. That reminds me! Think before you bring the kids. There are some disturbing images here and might induce nightmares. Word of warning! The magic show can be interesting. The best part is seeing the characters chase people throughout the park. The squeamish typical girl that screams will be targeted every time! A couple tips: Get there when they open, closer to 7 or 8. VIP went up to $50 a pop this year because of what happened last year which was that more people bought VIP so those lines were longer than regular lines. Watch for coupon deals, we got $6 off on a facebook deal going opening weekend. I was lucky enough to get a Behind the Scenes tour with our friends of Halloween meetup group so I got to see a ton of the details and such they put into it! Doc Phineas gave us the tour in character, and kept popping up through out the night which was cool. I really liked it all, I just wish that it was closer to where I live. read more

What is the point of having timed tickets.. We arrived 30 minutes from our timed tickets. The traffic was backed up so bad that it took over an hour and half to get in the gate. Our tickets were for 10 we didn't get in the first house until 12. They have you text you get in que. They asked you to wait in the car until you it's your turn but that was a joke. People are still on top of each other. They have you sign a waiver on a tablet. Nobody is sanitizing them. There are not a lot of actors in the house and half of the animations didn't worked. We were only able to go through one of the houses. They were closing up by the time we walked out of the first house. ugh was a waste of time and money. read more

TERRIBLE! DO NOT GO! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I was literally telling people this as we were driving out and they were walking in. I can't even tell anyone if the attractions were good or not because I never even got in to one!! NOT ONE! $75 (two VIP tickets and parking) WASTED!!! Bought online tickets and drove over an hour from Fort Worth to see this place. Got there and had to wait 35 mins just to get our wristband. The lines for tickets weren't marked so people had no idea which one was for online ticket purchases. There are hardly any staff around to direct you or answer questions and the ones that are are RUDE! Got our wristbands and proceeded to the front of the park to start there. Quickly realized that because the VIP tickets were only $5 more than general admission, a lot more people bought them. The VIP lines were longer than general admission and were NOT moving. NOTE TO OWNER: ONLY SELL A CERTAIN NUMBER OF VIP TICKETS A NIGHT OR HAVE A DIFFERENT ENTRANCE FOR THEM LIKE SIX FLAGS! ALSO, HAVE SOMEONE CHECK FOR WRISTBANDS IN THE VIP LINE! SUCH BS! From 9 till 11:30 we stood in line for that 3D thing and never saw it. Decided to leave because we had only moved 15ft in line and obviously wouldn't be seeing any other attractions since the park was closing in 30 mins. We spent $75 and saw NOTHING!! Not ONE ATTRACTION! This is the WORST RUN BUSINESS I've ever been to! So to wrap it up, we ate $75 plus however much in gas And drove 3 hours round trip to Terrell, TX for absolutely NOTHING! You people need to either change your way of doing things or start giving refunds. I am personally telling everyone I know NEVER to go here!!!! read more

I've found a demographic to which I appeal. Seems evil clowns think I'm a hottie. I can't even count the number of fiendish clowns who whispered in my ear "see you outside", and "now you die;" or "hmm...yeah that display does sorta look like an Ozzy album cover." All in all the haunted house which resembled a carnival ride gone wrong was the best part of the whole experience. I swear they had the last room packed with evil clowns and bloody ring leaders. And about every tenth person who went in came out the back door running. One guy was running full tilt all the way across the whole acre with an scary clown in pursuit. That guy was so freaking scared that I almost felt sorry for him...while doubled over laughing. The main house was pretty good. And the trail was okay. There were a few costumed folks that I actually thought were fake. When they jumped out at me I squealed like a little girl. But since my squeals are always followed by fits of giggling I'm not embarrassed. The price is way too much, and like Johnnie said they are calling things "attractions" which are NOT. And the Granny's Seance is the worst thing I've ever seen. We had the VIP tickets and still stood in line for over an hour. It was horrid. And not in a good way. And get this...you pay $26.50 online for the VIP pass, then you get a free $5 gas card good at Tom Thumb and many other local establishments. HOWEVER, they gouge you for an additional $5 for PARKING. Like you can park somewhere else. It's in a vacant field. That's just wrong. So add $5 a carload into you ticket price. Plenty of vendors and sideshow freaks. They have a magic show. read more

My first visit to Thrillvania was Sunday the 16th, with the goal of missing some of the crowd. That worked well, never waited more than a few minutes for any attraction. I got the VIP, but really never needed it. I had just enough time in the 2.5 hours of the night to hit everything without rushing. A little preface: I've been in and out of the haunt industry for the last 20 years. I've been to many haunted attractions and worked in some of the best. In short, I know my stuff. :) Six Feet Blunder and Thorn Hall are at the top of the big hill. While TH seems a bit small for the footprint (no way to put a bigger house on that site?) these two attractions make for a pleasant stop. Six Feet Blunder is an animatronic show with special FX and a few spooks hanging out in the room to make things interesting. It's a pre-show for Thorn Hall, really. Thorn Hall is a small maze with some interesting elements using inflated walls/ceilings. Down the hill is the Trail of Terror, which is a former hayride route turned into a nature walk. This was the only negative I saw, in my opinion. It needs a little polish. There's no real binding theme, and the sets along the route seem random and thrown together. I believe the theme is werewolves, but we also have moonshiner ghosts and butchers, so it's a bit addled. Not bad, just not as tight as it could be. Cassandra's Labyrinth of Illusion in 3D is a typical 3D-effect 'killer klown' maze. The monsters do a pretty good job here to elevate what would otherwise be a pretty pedestrian maze. There -are- some 3D effects I hadn't seen elsewhere that lead to wild visual effects on the brain. A good maze, if not a great one. Granny Lupus' Seance is a classic show. However, it could use a little TLC. I got the feeling that the audio tracks for Tobias and Granny were out of sync, some of Tobias' dialogue wasn't finished before Granny would reply. Also, the sound in the back of the house seemed awfully quiet considering the thunder of Granny's voice. Overall, a quaint little animatronic show that attempts (and mostly succeeds) at being a spooky version of Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room. (A line from Madame Leota from the Haunted Mansion is even thrown in.) The highlight of Thrillvania is Verdun Manor and it's entry maze, Voodoo Bayou. Yes, Voodoo Bayou is really the line you follow to enter Verdun, but it's a great maze as long as you walk through it and aren't standing in it waiting to get to Verdun. I was able to walk, and it's a tight little outdoor maze. Some great, large mechanical gags and some excellent actors make it pop. Some of the secondary attractions are a little heavy on the 'masks and black robes' attire, but Voodoo Bayou has some nice costume and makeup work that fits the theme. Verdun Manor is Lance Pope's labor of love, and it shows. Fantastic theming, amazing set decorations, the best actors in the park, and great use of technology makes this life-size gothic mansion worth the price of admission alone. There is also a carnival midway with souvenirs, psychics, games, and 'fair food'. The Phantom Phrolics starring Dr. Phineas and Lady Cassandra is a wonderful little show that brings back many great magic tricks and 'geek show' gags such as the Human Blockhead. It's great to see the old things exposed to a new audience. A good 80% of the crowd I watched with hadn't seen the Human Blockhead, for example, based on their reaction. I also hadn't seen the trick used as the finale completed in exactly the way they did it. NOTE FOR KIDS: The primary houses are haunted houses: they are scary, and intended to scare, and are definitely not appropriate for young kids. Granny's show is a little intense, but older kids would be fine. There is a strobe maze that's kid-friendly (no spooks). So when I say 'good for kids', there -are- things for kids to do. Just beware that this is a 'something for kids to do while the rest of the adults go have fun' kind of thing, and not an attraction solely for kids under, say, 13. Thrillvania is definitely worth the money if you buy online. Be prepared to pay $5 for parking, which is poor form, but they don't charge for the 3D glasses for Cassandra's like many houses do, so it's a trade-off. Thrillvania is a labor of love by a much-missed haunt genius. The quality is still there, and I look forward to visiting it again next year! read more

Decent amusement/haunted attractions for the cost. A lot of detail goes into the interior and decorations and has many houses to choose from. My only compliant was the wait time in line with the main haunted house. Also, I did not like the nickel and diming that was going on there from time that you have to pay to park to paying for every little attraction there. It is a great place to visit. The drive from Dallas is long. I would like to see less nickel and diming there and more focus on free attractions outside of the main haunted houses. Parking should be free. read more

I heard great things about this haunted house from the group of people I went with since they went in the past but when we got there the disappointment began! The prices aren't too much different from most haunted houses but once you get your punch out ticket you'll see 8 numbers and sadly only get to use 4 because half of the park is shut down. The best haunted house was the 3D attraction which is right at the front gate but after that it goes down hill The haunted houses weren't scary at all...During the trail the actors were lazy and uninspired on top of the fact that there was so much blank space and time inside of the haunted house that you wondered if you were going the wrong way!!! This is probably the worst haunted house we went to in the past few years which is sad since the price was pretty high. Note to the zombie actors inside the houses...don't say hi and have a conversation with your cousin or sister when they come to visit....try to stay in character! read more

I took my girlfriend to Thrillvania Friday night. It was crowded. We paid general admission and I wish we had paid the extra to get the VIP tickets. General admission was $30 and VIP was $35. For $5 more we could have been in the shorter line. We stood in line for 2 hours for the seance show. It was terrible. I should have listened to the people coming out the back door saying it sucked. I saw a review of this attraction on a tv show about American's best haunted houses, so I thought it was going to be great. It was all robotic and was so lame I wanted to punch someone afterwards. The VooDoo Bayou was THE LINE in front of the main haunted house. The maze was a chain link fence block. We did it because it was there and we bought an all event ticket. The cemetery thing was also small and not very scary. The main house was good, not great. The carnival house was really good because I'm scared as f*ck of clowns. The trail of torment was good but they had kids working in it. When I tower over the werewolves I'm not as scared. The lines were insane at 8 o'clock on Friday night. Find something local and cheaper. And something that doesn't list every bend in the road an attraction. I'm surprised they didn't say they had 9 attractions because of the haunted port-o-pots. read more

Unfortunately it was better when Lance was alive - when it was Verdun Manor. The details are fantastic but I'm not impressed with the new spray bottle/ spit thing they are doing. That really pissed me off. Im not sure why the werewolves dont have chainsaws anymore.. I miss that (or at least none lf the actors had any last night). I don't like that the actors scream at your face when you turn a corner. The 3D attraction was amazing though. read more

Frankly, I am shocked by all the negative reviews. Apparently you all wouldn't know a good haunt if it bit you on the ass. Do some research on the history of that place and maybe you will appreciate it more I head out to Thrillvania every year and am never disappointed. You get a lot of bang for your buck out there. It's a multi-attraction haunt located on lots of land out in the country which just adds to the atmosphere of that place. This year they have a new 3D haunt that has taken the place of the old Cassandra's building. This is hands down the best 3D haunt I have ever been through. The work put into this place is simply amazing. They really paid attention to detail when building the haunt. You will not be disappointed. As always, Verdun Manor doesn't disappoint. It's great to walk through and enjoy all the handmade original art and props done by the late Lance Pope. Definitely add this haunt to your list to hit this season. I remember when Verdun Manor (because, at the time, it wasn't Thrillvania Haunted House, it was just Verdun Manor) was located right on Hwy 80 and we'd pass it every time we went to my lakehouse. Years and years ago, they moved it to a space off I-20. Presumably there's more space out there, and the amount of attractions have quintupled in size since it moved. I'm not saying all of the attractions are awesome and worth it, but they're there. The main reason I go here is for Verdun. This year when I go, I might go see some of the other ones, but in years past they weren't awesome. Last time I went, I parked, went to Verdun, and left. I also went near the end of the haunt season, so I was a little tired of the crowds. Yes, I have a haunted house schedule that I try to keep to. It's tradition! Thrillvania does offer a VIP pass for an extra $5-$10 to skip the big line, which is super awesome on a Friday or Saturday night. The downside is that since the VIP pass is only an extra $5-$10, a LOT of folks do it, so there's still a line. But it's not nearly as big. My biggest gripes with Verdun/Thrillvania: They charge you for parking. Be prepared to bring $5 cash to park. The gate for tickets accepts credit cards (though you're better off buying them online at home and printing them off), but parking is cash only. AND they try to make everything an attraction. As others have said, the queue you wait in for Verdun Manor? The folks at Thrillvania bill it as an attraction: The VooDoo Bayou. Yes, they threw some stuff for you to look at while you're standing there, but it's just a line. A queue you're likely to wait in for a really really long time. But you keep waiting in it. Here it goes, simple and to the point: Get there as early as possible as the crowds get bigger the later it gets. Buy VIP online to save time and money; it does save you a ton of time in line waiting because the normal lines can be a much as three to four times longer. The worst attraction and with the longest wait time: "Six Feet Blunder" up on top of the hill. Horrible. I can not tell you how many people left that showing so severely disappointed, including myself. I wouldn't waste your time on that one. The Trail of Torment was a nice, dark, spooky stroll and a break from the rest of the madness (crowds and attractions). The best attraction and with one of the shortest wait times: Labyrinth of Terror in 3D. Quite entertaining. I would have gone through that a few times if I had the time. The bridge inside was awesome. The Verdun Manor is the main and one of the most overrated attractions there. read more

I have gone to this Haunted House since I was a kid and now it just seems to be getting worse. Now it's expensive for nothing. Some actors were lazy, they dont do the fire from the house anymore. They dont have shops. They have you sign a waiver but, for what? Nothing scary. My wife is afraid of chainsaws or being chased by someone with one but, at the end she didnt even run actually she laughed. This place is going down hill. It seems more about the money than the fun. They dont even have the whole walk around the swamp and cemet6to be scared on the way to the front. Oh and the trail seemed more just like a creepy walk through. I could have went deep in the woods and got more scared for free. Not sure of I want to go back next year. read more

My boyfriend and I have a tradition of checking out haunted houses every year, and we decided to break with tradition, get out of town and head up to the outskirts of Dallas from Austin to check out Thrillvania this year. First off...it was raining, and this is an outdoor (mostly) attraction. Still we had our minds made up to go, so we stopped for umbrellas, and kept rolling. When we arrived we were surprised to see still plenty of cars despite the rain. They do make you make you pay $5 for parking, which I feel is silly, because tickets are already $20 something already...but okay I'll let it slide. We had bought our tickets online so we went up to the counter with our umbrellas, shivering and collected our tickets and a nice surprise-they handed out ponchos! Nice! First we hit the Verdun Manor, which you have to walk a creepy trail on in order to get to the haunted house, which is a nice creepy intro, the people letting you in are very courteous which is a nice contrast to the entertainers who stalk you even before you get in. The manor setup is great, you can tell they put the money into these places it's not a mall they're gonna tear down in two weeks. And the entertainers get in your face the perfect amount, and know just the right buttons to push, (or chainsaws to wield). After that we hit the house on the hill (Thorn Hall) which was an experience in pitch black darkness and feeling around-tip follow the red lights on the ceiling, it was more about wondering if someone was there than someone popping out and screaming at your face...which was a good change of pace. As we came down the hill in the torrential rain my boyfriend suggested we try the "Sam Hain's Trail of Torment" I really enjoyed this because you are literally walking a spooky outdoor trail through marshes with an occasional spooky abandoned tricycle or dolls head hanging from a tree. The real brilliance is the houses along the trail. You walk along the trail for like 30 yards, then come across a little shack...you don't want to go through-but you know you have to...and in our case we wanted a little reprieve from the rain. Every time you saw a house you had to pause, steel your nerves again then escape to the other side to have a little break before you went though another. I love it. Last but certainly not least was the Cassandra's Labyrinth, they give you 3d glasses on the way in, and for good reason, it assaults your senses with skulls cackling clowns and bright neon spewing from every direction...leaving you reeling into the labyrinth filled with mirrors, lasers, and twisted clowns tormenting you the whole way. There are several acrobatic types who scale chain link fences to torment you from the top and drop down in front of you...it's impressive. There's a spinning tunnel as well which again leaves you falling to the left to stay on board...when of course you're walking perfectly straight. Another great trick on the senses. All in all I absolutely loved this place. They did what few haunted house can anymore, got genuine screams out of me. That couples with creative stages and ideas that aren't your average haunted house made it completely worth the trip, money and rain. The actors are fantastic, they played along with my boyfriend who likes to try to drag them out of character, and they kept their character the whole time...there's much to be said for that. I love this haunted house theme park ! Definitely recommend and I've been to several different haunted houses. The experience in both of their haunted houses Verdon Manor and the clown one are well thought out, pretty scary and fun. Professionally done very talented for those that put in the time constructing it every year. Really good caramel apples too. One of my favorite haunted houses! read more

I honestly have to say this is one of the best around. The variety of characters and attractions Thrillvania has to offer is just one of the many reasons I love this place. A first-of-its-kind 3D haunt, Cassandra's Labyrinth of Terror, your senses are tested and adrenaline rushes faster as you make your way through the clown infested surroundings. The new and improved Thorn Hall is better than ever. The creepy feel of the bridge crossing over the small creek that runs throughout the haunt, the actors inside the maze, and the special effects used inside are unlike anything I have ever experienced. The walk through trail is by far the one that makes me nervous and excited all at once. The added element of the outdoors, the barely lit gravel pathways, and the additional houses make you feel as if you were walking through a completely corrupted town in serious need of therapists. Verdun Manor... What can I say? Every time I walk through there I never see the same thing twice. Elaborate detail in every inch of the place, down to the cobwebs placed on the flickering lamp shades. Actors spring out of the most unsuspecting places and get me every time. So much fun, in and out. Even walking up to the manor through VooDoo Bayou with animatronics, pyrotechnics, and live actors keeps the atmosphere alive. One girl has the best scream I have heard in years! (I can only imagine how her voice feels at night end) Even on the main path leading to all the haunts the atmosphere is kept alive. Games with a creepy attendant, great food, a magic show that will blow your mind, psychics, and actors roaming around chasing "victims". Overall- FANTASTIC. Parking is only $5, the entertainment is unbeatable, and the prices for the food and available goods is very reasonable. High quality masks and theatrical contacts were a great find! read more

I've heard a good amount of hype about this haunted house theme park. Unfortunately, it was not worth the $70. 3D clown house wasn't that scary. Second house was a little scarier. The final haunted attraction was probably the scariest but not in comparison to other parks. They used to have other houses but have been closed. Very disappointing and predictable. The quality of the 2 buildings and the walk through the woods was predictable and almost boring. Not worth the money. I experience more scare on the roads around D/FW. And if that wasn't enough, the employees at this place are HORRIBLE. They talk to you like you didn't just pay over $30 to visit. Obviously, this review is a little late, but I figured it needed to be done to warn would be goers next year. The only thing frightening about this place was the $25 entrance fee. Maybe I've spent too many hours visting prisons as part of my job, but this place was not scary at all. In fact, it was down right cheesy. If you ever want to pay for the "zombies" event, keep your money ... Came here last night, not worth it!! The employees are rude and one of the "zombies" had the audacity to lie on my group and say one of my friends "dragged her". There were barely zombies to even shoot at ! You need glow sticks to collect points and when we noticed the zombies wasn't giving us any, they said it was because the group in front of us took their last ones. Seriously? Not enough glow sticks? We had to wait in the middle of our adventure , twice, because the group in front of us was moving very slow and it was ruining the fun for us. They make you sign a waiver that they're not responsible for you getting hurt, even if one of their employees pushes the crap out of you. Not to mention how awkward the last part of the mission is. You have to wrap two flags around your waist and run to the exit with zombies chasing you and they try to take your flags. The whole time I was getting my butt slapped, ha.... Wow! Awk. Anyways ... Good thing my friends and I made it fun so it wasn't a total waste of money. Would I go again? Never . On another note... I've been there when they do the haunted houses.. I visited last year, and paid for 2 tickets, the lines were 2-3 hour waits. We arrived at 8 not knowing of them closing at 12 and the lines being so terrible we only got to see one attractions and it was so not worth it. This place is fantastic. It really is. It's in the Middle of Nowhere, Texas, they have so much space for several houses, an abandoned trail with sporadic trees, a hill, mud, etc. What they don't have are the actors! Thus, it isn't scary. I went last night (Saturday) with a big group of people because it had been pouring the entire day, there was a tornado watch (until 7pm), there were lightning strikes, etc. Since there were more than 10 people, we got the online group discount -- VIP tix were $24 + $2 service charge (WTF??) per person. Fine, better than paying $40 once you actually get there. Basically, no matter what you do, buy your tickets online. They're so much cheaper. They also charge $5 for parking, which is ridiculous, but once you drive all the way out there, you're probably not going to throw a fit and come back bc of that charge. Otherwise, this place has the potential to be one of the best haunted houses in the US, but it falls short. The 3-D house is great, but not necessarily much better than the one in Dallas Scaregrounds. The one in Dallas had more actors on a SUNDAY! Thrillvania did, however, have some effects that I've never seen before, such as a shaky bridge that "might break at any second." There was also this amazing ray of green light calling you to it. We went through that potion twice. The first time, a scary chainsaw guy perfectly ended our gaze into the light. The second time (circa 23:30), nothing. What? Did you let the few actors you did have go home early?? This house really was beautiful, I must admit. The second time there was a chainsaw guy chasing my friend out. Hehehehe... Then we saw the seance show. The line was so long, and the show so lame. The end is the only good part. I guess this attraction is good for small kids? Well, it is a family place... Disgruntled, we went to the main attraction, the Vernon Mansion. I should note here that we got the VIP passes because that was the cheapest option for a group. if you're only a few people, really consider if you want to pay the extra money for the VIP pass. Look at how many cars there are in the parking lot or something. Last night, the lines for general admission were shorter than the VIP lines, which is okay, but really, if some people paid extra ($5 online, or $10 in person) for the fast pass, you should let them go in at a higher rate. There were 12 of us, so the rope person would ask how many are in our group, and then let 2 smaller groups from the general admission go. We didn't care much because we were entertaining each other, but if I were there with only a few people, I would get pissed. VIP does not mean let one group from general go, and then one group from VIP. It should actually be 3-4 groups from VIP and one group from general admission. Last night my bf kept saying that we should just go wait in the general admission lines because they were half the size. Again, this is up to you. We came on a Saturday with not too many people because of the rain, so we managed to see everything in 3-3.5 hours. But I digress.. The path to the Mansion is so great. They even had a huge dragon who was smoking a cigarette and blew fire. Wow! BUT I think only one person jumped out and scared us. The house itself is not too long, but it so incredibly well done. There are even two sets of stairs, which I appreciated, and the sets are the so realistic looking and the best I have seen (I've thus far been to Dallas Scaregrounds and the Forth Worth Cutting Edge). Whoever designed the house is an artistic genius. I screamed when there were actors coming out, and these two opposite each other put our their hands at one point, almost touching me. I freaked out. Yes!! They also get in your face if you show any fear, which I sadly always do. Unfortunately, there were maybe 10 actors for the whole house, whereas they should have at least 25. I don't necessarily need at actor at every corner, but going for a minute without an actor is kind of sad. I mean, the set is nice, but the set itself doesn't scare me. Then we went through the trail, which had this nifty little house with inflated walls, and you didn't know what was in front of you, and when it'll end. =) My friend was too scared to go through it. Mission accomplished. And then a trail with random ominous trees, and morose pieces of cars, etc. I kept waiting, waiting, creeping, listening. One guy jumped out a van (dude! props for the dedication). Another guy was machine gunning. And there was a guy showing you the way at one point (because you could easily go the wrong way). Nobody else. Summary: 3 people. Some kid from the group in front of us hid behind some billboard with 2 of his friends, and jumped out when we came. I screamed like no other. The boys laughed, I yelled, "kid, that was immoral," my bf laughed, and the kids ran off. Lastly, we did some house on top of a hill. I'm out of characters, so I must stop writing now.. Alas.
