We have had mixed experience with Natick Animal Clinic over time. They seem to be challenged administratively. When I order paper prescriptions through them (so I can fill them at my own pharmacy), it's always a crap-shoot whether they will call me later to tell me the form is ready for pick up. They do things like requiring a deposit for a procedure even though we've been taking our dog there for nearly 4 years: I mean, sheesh, if I trust you with my beloved dog, how come you can't trust me to pay for an $800 procedure? You'd think that they would have built up some trust in their customers after that much time.... Also it literally took years for us to get their records fixed so that they would reliably call or email the right "parent" with receipts, results, etc. Their desk staff appear to lack the ability or training to sort out contact information that is really quite basic to any service business. All this indicates weak or ineffective management. As for veterinary care, the vets and techs are caring and dedicated, but sometimes they seem out of their depth. Our dog has had some skin conditions over the years, and after the vet took a sample they would give us rather bizarre opinions about the sample "looking funny" or some such description. They seem to lack knowledge of pathology in such cases. Like other vet clinics around here, they seem to have a fair amount of turnover. Our best experience was with Dr. Pocher, but he left the clinic more than 3 years ago. So I can't give a superb review, but I can't say to avoid the place, either. I just hope they can address some of their shortcomings and become a top-tier veterinary practice. read more

Been bringing my dogs to this vet location for over 20 years, recently changed management. Terrible customer service , needed to get dog in for heartworm test and rabies shot , over 5 week wait, and shot is due much sooner. They didn't care, no appointments and no we can put you on wait list. Spent over 20 k at this vet and will never go back. My husband and I began bringing our shitsu to Natick animal clinic recently and are scheduled to bring our Boston terrier, and couldn't be more happy. Everyone there truly cares about the animals. I don't feel like they are a number like a lot of other vets. They care first and foremost, about the well being of the fur babies and that is priceless to us. They are our lives, and that's how they are treated there. They treat our babies like they are their own. Doctor Kimberly Heald does home visits with our shitsu Lily, because she gets very anxious in the car and at the vets. This service is a wonderful thing, and Dr. Heald made Lily feel so relaxed and comfortable. Lily has had to have certain tests and needs to have an ultrasound. Dr. Heald has been emailing me back and forth, explaining patiently each and every issue, and caringly answering every question I have without hesitation. We are so happy our babies have become patients of Natick Animal Clinic! Thank you everyone!! read more

Glad I did because the compassion and caring that Dr. Palermo and the vet assistance gave to senior baby was wonderful. The quality of care our geriatric dog received at this clinic for services performed was fine. The reason for the average rating is my sense that this clinic cared more about maximizing revenue than the well-being of our dog. They aggressively pursued our dog receiving her full set of shots, with no regard for her age (she was 16 at the time with limited mobility) or well-being. When, due to COVID, we spent seven months living out-of-state, they were extremely uncooperative in providing copies of our dog's veterinary records to a third-party vet located out-of-state. By contrast, the vet we saw while out of state took a much more holistic approach to our dog's health. read more

Subtract 4 stars for charging me almost $150 to change a bandage that needed no other attention - something I usually pay less than $50. I had a bad experience with this clinic within the last 2 years and would seriously caution others to go elsewhere. In a nutshell they gave me the wrong information, gave my dog shots she wasn't due for, insisted on a $400 + unnecessary test (according to multiple other vets) and genuinely made me frightened for my dogs health when she was fine. High cost + bad service...no thank you. There are so many good veterinarian clinics in the area and this is not one of them. My dog also hated going there and would get so shaky scared it hurt my heart. I'm so glad she loves her new vet! Seriously, do not put you or your beloved friend through a visit to this place. read more

Thought I would share my experience at Natick Animal Clinic so others don't go through it. The prices on their prescriptions were considerably higher than 800petmeds so I placed an order online to get refills. Waiting over a week and when I contacted petmeds they said that the animal clinic would only do written prescriptions - not electronic prescriptions. Frustrating the new Natick Animal Clinic didn't share that with me. Apparently they've changed owners and the new owner doesn't want to do anything electronic. read more

So disappointed with the front office staff. Long periods of being on hold, only to be directed to leave a message during normal business hours. Most times, the front office staff cannot answer simple scheduling questions. Lots of issues with payment and phone numbers not being kept on file. The vets are great, but the frustration with the communication from the front desk has led us to leave the practice. read more

Had an emergency w my 8 mo old Dixie I called natick animal clinic which has been our vet since we got the pup He had imbedded a sewing needle in his mouth and was in terrible pain I called the clinic at 7:15 pm and since their hours were till 8 pm I was sure they would see him I was told it was too close to closing and they would not see him The told me to take him to a 24 hr emergency vet nearby who by the way although expensive gave our dog great care w no issues Needless to say we are changing vets read more

I went back to them in desperation for my cat but it is all coming back to me. The front desk people have always been miserable. Every single time I call I am asked if I can be put on hold. I mean at one point I used a vet tech from here as a pet sitter and it was terrifying. She acted like she could care less about my cat. I went with a nice old lady after that not connected with them and this nice lady would leave me notebooks of what happened with photos. But I just had another check up. They have a long history with me of being wrong. When my cat was a kitten they told me he had kidney disease. 14 years later.. he does not. They are obsessed with shots and will do anything to fill your pet with chemicals. But the final straw is discussing a difference of opinion on medication. Once again they act like I am just to do what they say. They will not even consider my suggestion or tell me why they won't. It's just do what we say. I also have concerns about roughness. After a visit with them my cat was limping. They get a lot of business because they have weekend hours but most vets don't work on the weekends so those are really illusionary. read more

So incredibly disappointed in the Natick Animal Clinic. My MIL who passed several years ago left her cat for us to care for. She is now very old and on her last legs. I called yesterday to find out about euthanasia for her and was told that I would receive a call back at the latest by this morning. I spent my night nursing my cat on her death bed - won't eat, won't drink, can't walk, and can't relieve herself on her own anymore. Come this morning - no call. So, I called them and was told that they can't accommodate us!!!! Seriously?! You had me wait overnight for you to tell me that you won't accommodate us? Staff was nice, vet seemed knowledgeable but: Took my dog in to check out his teeth, they quoted me a dental cleaning of near $1700!!! My old place in Illinois costed $200. At a price of $1700, I could buy a plane ticket back to Illinois, get his teeth cleaned, and fly back! If I could give no stars I would. I brought my dog here for years because they gave a first responder discount. Well it is no discount if you consider how overpriced they are. They also would not do certain shots together so I would end up having to pay several office visit fees. The new vet said there was no reason those shots could not have been done all at once. They booked a rabies 1 day late so I couldn't get the 4 year. Just so many ways to manipulate and make more money. I only stayed for convenience because it was so close. The kicker was when I boarded my dog there and she got Kennel Cough. I know that it can happen and even with the shot there are different strains. My dog was not supposed to be socialized with other dogs so obviously they didn't clean the kennel or their hands very good because she should not have caught it. Yeah yeah yeah...highly contagious...I get it. Wait for it though... I bring her in to the vet after a week because I thought she was going to die from it. It was SO BAD...they flipping tried to charge me for the visit and the medicine!!!!! ARE YOU FOR REAL!!!! SHE and many other dogs got sick because of you!!! In your facility and you want me to pay? I obviously refused to pay and requested my records. THEY FRICKING CHARGED ME FOR THE RECORDS!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!! The vets are pretty nice but you may as well take a $100 bill and light it on fire. I was just asking about a nail trim. When I commented on how expensive it is at $19 I was told in a very condescending tone that they had to hold the dog and needed the technician's time. I am so amazed at the service both for my dog and myself that Natick Animal Clinic provided. When my eight-year-old chocolate lab, Willie Chancho, blew out his knee he required an extensive surgery. I was initially quoted by a different local that clinic it would cost me over $5000. Being a social worker and in graduate school, I simply could not afford that amount. I called around asking of anyone would be willing to help me and Natick Animal Clinic came to the rescue. Not only did they offer a reasonable amount for this procedure, they also kept in constant communication and talked me through everything. They made the whole process simple and reassured me every step of the way. The response time when I asked a question or needed help was within the day and was always positive and welcomed. In the past, other vets seem to be annoyed when you ask a lot of questions or contact them a lot, this clinic welcomes them and made me feel important as the customer. To be honest, I haven't had the best experiences with Vet Clinics, and I'll admit I sometimes reference them as the animal equivalent of a car dealership, but my faith has been restored with the Natick Animal Clinic and their staff! I cannot express the gratitude I have for their compassion, empathy, and overall amazing customer service. I live over 30 minutes away from this clinic and am more than willing to drive double that to get the service for my dog again. Highly recommend this clinic and a solid high-five to Heather and Dr. Fish for everything they did to help me and my dog! read more

The staff here are wonderful! Our (spoiled!) pup has a vet, goes to the doggy day care, has gone through training courses, and gets pampered at the spa. We have always been satisfied with NAC's services. The boarding rates can be a little pricey, but overall our dog loves any trip here! read more

I heard such mix reviews about this place, from various resources and I was shocked to find out what's going on at that kennel: Pros: indoor/ outdoor kennel w/ doggie door, air conditioned, nice play yard. Cons: price, the fact that supervision doesn't happen at all time, staff are not as educated as they should about animal care basic, reception can be rude and very in helpful, fights breaks out frequently. Good news, the clinic really know what they doing, the vets are awesome and I trust the since I do go to NAC sister clinic Weston. read more

I have brought my pets to NAC for years simply because they are so wonderful. I trust them with the care of my animals and to treat me like a valued customer (patient? No?). The desk staff is friendly and down-to-earth, they communicate very well and have always been willing to help me with any requests or concerns I may have. I am ALWAYS able to get an appointment at a time that works best with my schedule, for which I am incredibly grateful. This review is for the boarding/kennel. Have you seen the people working here? They seem unhappy to be there, stressed out, and not professional at all. On two occasions I've picked up my dog and they did not send me along with her belongings (blanket, extra food, toy). Upon going back to get her items, they lost everything except for the blanket. Seriously, is it that difficult to set my things aside in a bag? If you can't keep tally of little things like this, how can you be managing animals. I just feel this is a poorly run business, and will not be boarding my dog there again. That's what I thought the first time, yet gave them a 2nd chance and still below my expectations. read more

I have only used their vet services, not the groomer or boarding, so this review is only for the vet side of things. My 2 cats and 1 dog have been coming to Natick Animal Clinc for the past 4 or so years. We've dealt with everything from vaccinations, to tooth extractions, behaviour issues and cancer. I have been so pleased with all of the services I've received. The Vets we see are very clear and caring and often start with the less evasive measures. A food switch was recommended for itchy pets, rather than steriod treatment recommended by a previous vet. The food switch worked great. When a cancerous tumor was found in one cat's intenstines, NAC coordinated care with specialists in Waltham. All the staff is helpful and attentive. read more

This is the only place that I have brought my two dogs for the past four years for vet visits, doggie day care and grooming. The staff--vet and day care alike--are exceedingly dedicated. For vet visits, I have seen two vets (each dog has his own...) and also spoken with other vets for urgent issues when our regular vets were on vacation--they always told me what my options were, how much everything cost, what they would do and so on. The doggie day care staff is simply the best I have found in MetroWest and in Cambridge. They are dedicated, know the animals and take care of my "boys" as if they were their own. Grooming prices have gone up in the past several years, but I still find that they do an excellent job on my two dogs and I can't see taking them somewhere else to save $5. read more

I used to live in Natick and these people saw me coming because that was our first dog. They fleeced me by doing unnecessary procedures. Some were benign to the dog (e.g., "Oh look your dog has some ear wax, let me just put it on a slide to make sure that there is no fungus or bacteria in there. While we are at it, you better buy these antibacterial ear drops just to be safe." Others were not so benign, they actually put my Golden Retriever through surgeries to remove lipomas with a biopsy thrown in for good measure. It was several years before I realized what was happening. I changed the practice to one on Route 9 and immediately saw a night and day difference. The upfront costs were more (doctor's visits etc. but overall the bill was much lower even for an older dog). Now I am a much more experienced dog owner and it makes me sick how they took advantage of me and put my dog through unnecessary pain. read more

I am really upset that I have to give a bad review...I never used their vet services but I had boarded my dog there on a few occasions. I really think she was well cared for in the kennel and it was very clean and the staff was ok. I think the price for the service was pretty good especially since they include a light bath for the dogs on dismissal - they also gave my dog (a golden doodle) a thorough drying which is super important because she is super stinky when her hair is damp. Anyway, onto the reason I only gave two stars. The kennel requires the dogs have an obscure vaccine called lepto. It's my understanding lepto is for dogs who are out in the wild drinking from stagnant puddles etc. My vet does not give the vaccine as part of their regular protocol. The first time I boarded my dog I went in with all the paper work proving that she had all her vaccines and rabies shots - I didn't know about the lepto. vaccine and no one told me and she stayed for a week without word one. The second time I boarded her I had all the paperwork again and dropped her off and receive a call once I hit the highway that she doesn't have the proper vaccine. My dog went for her full physical the week before so I was stumped as what they were talking about. They explained that she needed to have this vaccine and that they would give it to her but that she would need another examination by their vet prior to receiving the vaccine which meant another $100 or so to see the vet plus the cost of the vaccine - I was mad because they had the paperwork stating she had been to my vet the previous week. I (actually I made my husband talk b/c I was steaming mad) tried not to get too fired up and didn't want my vacation ruined but was trying figure out why they required this vaccine when our vet (b/c of course I called them while my husband was on his cell phone) didn't require it and doesn't think it's necessary for domesticated dogs. After spending 45 minutes on the phone (b/c our calls kept getting dropped) the person on the phone told us if we wanted our dog to have time with other dogs she would need to get the vaccine or else we would have to pick her up. My husband then told the man that we were paying extra to have our dog have alone playtime with just a staff member and not to be let out with the other dogs...OHHHHHHHHHHHH the man says, then I guess she doesn't need the vaccine then. What?!?!? I am sure we have a big red X on our file now. We found a new place to board her, one that just requires kennel cough, rabies and the few other common vaccines, it's more expensive and we have to pay for a post stay bath (she came home damp which means she was smelly) but I don't have to over medicate her. read more

Staff seemed friendly when I picked up our cat but my husband had interaction with the vet. Be prepared to spend a lot of money when going here. We have unfortunately been twice for our cat. They always run very expensive tests then can't tell you why your animal is having the problem. Our first visit was for a skin rash which they had to run a test for then gave us some anti-fungal cream. Test was negative and skin issue persists on a low level. The next visit was the cat not using the litter box, $250 of tests to say nothing was wrong and put her on an antibiotic. Antibiotic costs over twice as much at the clinic than if you get it from a reputable online source. I understand wanting to diagnose the problem first but I feel line other methods could have been tried before expensive testing. We will be attending another clinic from now on. read more

Do not bring your pets here. The environment that the animals are kept in is putrid. I took a tour of the kennel and "dog daycare" facility and the smell was horrifying. There were dogs with no water, there was urine and feces on the floor and it was frigid cold. The girl at the desk was very unprofessional and did not seem to know very much about animal care. I would definitely NOT recommend bringing you pets here. read more
