Like other reviewers, I bacame a wine club member after a few visits here, and so glad I did! They treat their customers great, and it is always a welcoming and fun time visiting their tasting room. I have not been able to attend their wine club events yet, as they usually conflict with my work schedule, but none the less, this is one of my top favorite wine clubs and tasting rooms. I highly recommend stopping by for a taste of their wines, they offer something for everyone between their whites and reds. read more

Updated 2/26/14: Merchant credited birthday host with credit, and offered apology on misunderstanding for our arrangement. ____________________ If they say "credit your wine tasting if you buy", run away. Our group of ~12-15 came & pre-paid several hundred for wine tastings. In other Healdsburg wineries, we'd be refunded our wine tasting cost if we bought wine. So the owner assured us they'd credit any bottles we bought to refund our tasting bill. I went ahead, buying a Viognier for $35, already pricey, and a Rose. A week later, they still didn't refund our host. Verbal promises, no paper trail should've been a forewarning. Recommendation: Try other more generous wineries, or go for Viogniers 1/3 the price at Costco, where they select for 91+Wine Spectator Ratings. Being duped ruins the taste of this wine. read more

My husband & I both love Thumbprint! I almost hate to tell you, as more and more may then also discover this gem! LOL, just kidding - Scott's wonderful wines do deserve a wide audience :-) The tasting room is ultra-cool but casual, pourers are friendly, great food / cheese and wine pairings are the norm, and the winemaker Scott is often in attendance and fun to talk with. Nice place, good service, but the wines are way over priced. So many wines out there just as good, for half the price. At 60 dollars a bottle the pinot better blow my socks off, and it didn't. Everything else was great, lower your prices and I'd give you a 4 star for sure. read more

THumbprint is awesome!! The wines are great, they're all vegan and they source from some of the best vineyards in the county.. like Ramazzati. I love the syrah and the threesome. I had a 1999 last night and it was delicious.. that was back when Scot was making it in his garage! Talk about your typical guy that just wants to make wine because he wants to drink it! The tasting room is fun and inviting.. it's a lounge. They're open until 6 so that's a great place to go after work! The girls are great, Jenny and Star.. they're fun and personable. we need more places like Thumbprint! read more

Scott, winemaker/owner, runs a nice tasting lounge and he's very approachable when you have questions about his wines. If you go in and happen to like any one of his wines, buy it on the spot because everything is produced in small amounts. read more

A much different wine tasting experience. The tasting room is very hip...they have loungy furniture and a disco ball...all while pumping Van Morrison. The pourers are very hospitable, funny, and well informed. The wines were fantastic...hard to chose one but the viognier was the one that made it home. read more

I really enjoyed our visit here. The owner guy was extremely nice, easy to talk to and clearly passionate about what he does. I learned a lot . Some, I wanted to know: what makes a wine vegan? Some, I didn't: what do the other guys put in there? (EWWW - it's like eating paste!!!) We walked away with a bottle and I know we will enjoy it. We're discovering that it's much more fun to have an experience tasting, selecting and buying wine than it is to buy it bc it's on sale. Go figure. read more

Nice little tasting room in downtown Healdsburg. Look around at some wineries as we had a card for a complimentary tasting. Wine was good, but not distinct from many others and prices were a little high to make a purchase, but def worth stopping in for a tasting. Labels are cool as are the names of the wines. read more

This place is great --not only are the wines excellent, but the tasting room team is fun, friendly, and knowledgeable. I had a very pleasant experience at Thumbprint yesterday which started the minute we walked in the door. Since this winery is open until 6:00pm we planned to make it our last stop. When we walked in a little after 5:30 Clay greeted us and quickly switched gears from getting ready to close to pouring us a generous lineup of wines. Three reds and four reds. We tasted two vintages of Cabernet side by side which allowed us to explore how these big wines would evolve over time. Considering the purpose of my trip was to stock up on white wines for the summer, I selected the 2007 Chardonnay as my favorite. The Viognier simply wasn't my taste and the Rose seemed a little on the sweet side compared to some others we tasted. The Chard has fantastic tropical fruit notes with a heavy hint of creamy/buttery. I'm enjoying a bottle right now and Still very far from the Rombauer style Chardonnay. I'm looking forward to enjoying my whites this summer and going back this fall to stock up on reds for the winter. read more

My family and I walked to this tasting room after an employee at La Crema recommended it. We were immediately unsatisfied due to the lack of cleanliness and service. My sister noted the glass the server placed in front of me had lipstick and requested a clean glass. Instead of placing it in a dishwasher or a used glassware pile, he used his fingers to wipe it off and placed it back with the clean glassware. Promptly after this happened, he poured one glass of wine and left the building without saying someone else would help us. We were never helped again and walked out after waiting for five minutes. In addition to the above, the server mocked us after asking if we were 21. I appreciate the question but, mocking our answer when we are 30 is rude. Also, numerous tables were covered in leftover food and were not being cleaned off anytime soon. Visit mueller instead. read more

Terrific tasting room experience on the plaza in Healdsburg. Staff is welcoming and knowledgeable about the cleverly named wine. Oh, and the wine is delicious, by the way. I first went to thumbprint with a group of ladies for a Bachelorette party in August. The staff were all friendly and fun, the wine was great, and the discount was too good to not sign up for the wine club! I love that they have so many different wine club options. I took a friend in there over the weekend, and she loved it as well! The staff remembered me, which is always a nice... They're great at giving you a personal, welcoming feeling and makes you feel like your business matters to them. The tasting room has a great atmosphere, very laid back....it's perfect for seasoned wine tasters, as well as first timers! There are no wine-snob attitudes here. read more

We recently had an open house at the tasting room in downtown Healdsburg the night before our wedding. It was amazingly perfect. Steve was perfect helping us plan. Very low key, and a rare find for the area (anywhere else wanted to charge the price of another reception). Thumbprint Cellars is one of my absolute favorite places to visit! I grew up in wine country and know good wine when I taste it. The staff is friendly and extremely knowledgable. I love the atmosphere of the tasting room too. My favorite spot is the "lounge" with the couches and little stage, makes you feel extra special when your tasting is being poured them. The art in the tasting room is fabulous and I LOVE that they have local artists and musicians showcase their talents. It gives Thumbprint that local vibe that everyone loves. Hands down my favorite winery on the square in Healdsburg. Did I mention their fun and creative names? I can't get enough of them, who doesn't love a catchy and racy wine name. I also love the different colored thumbprints to showcase the varietals. Scott is a very talented wine maker and he is lucky to have such an amazing staff with impeccable customer service. Stumbled accross this gem in October of 2012 on our 2 week visit to California. Great wines with a very knowledgeable staff. Our pourer for the day was fabulous (and was actually a Maryland girl herself)! Loved the story behind the wines and enjoyed the fact that they were small and not yet "distributing." We ended up joining their "Swingers" wine club and wish we lived in Healdsburg so we could attend their awesome tastings, release parties, and other events. We tell all of our friends who are planning trips to wine country that Thumbprint is a must-do. Can't wait to visit again soon!! read more

All of the staff was very friendly. I really liked their champagne and the voigner. The cab and four play grew on me (I did not like them at first taste). They have a white port which is rare. It is quite different. The only downside is that their wines are pricey. With so much competition in the area, we wish the prices were lower. read more

Great wine with a super fun staff...My husband was not a "wine drinker" but tasting the wine at Thumbprint has changed that! We realy love the way Scott the winemaker blends his wine. The tasting room always seems to have something going on, be it music or food pairings we are never disappointed. Very cool place. We visited this past weekend and had a great time. The wines were really nice and the people working were even better. I liked that the wines weren't the same as everywhere else we'd tasted - very unique, in a good way! Great fruit, taste goes on and on! The lounge name really fits. It was busy and several people were seated, well, in the lounge (there's a couch and some leather chairs on a purple shag rug with a coffee table in the middle!) and the staff were coming out to serve them. As swank as the place looks it is not stuffy at all. Very laid back, great music - just a good time basically. They were doing an event for their wine club (want thumb is the wine club name, if you say it fast sounds like want some - pretty clever), and it was really impressive. They had these great chocolates and cheeses. All the wine club members raved about the whole thing, the people, the wine the expereince overall. We took an application with us, and decided this morning to join the wine club! Highly recommend a visit. read more

Thumbprint is one of my all time fav's. Not only are Scott and Erica the best winemakers, but Jen and Starr are always friendly and really know their stuff. Joined the wine club, and I don't do things like that very often! Wines are heavy, intense, and yes, different. They taste like real wine, not that stuff you get in a box or 2 buck chuck. It's always a treat to have their wine at dinner. Outstanding viognier, cabs, zins, pinots... yum ! I hear their port can keep you warm on a cold day... sounds like a ski trip to me. Yes, it's pricey, but life is too short to drink cheap wine. If you go during an event it will be crowded. Wait for a winter weekend and make the trip. You won't be disappointed, and, if you are, that just leaves more for me ! read more

Terrible experience, my wife and I made the mistake of visiting the Thumbprint tasting room during what was otherwise a wonderful weekend in Healdsburg. The staff was very inattentive and rude! There were several other groups of people in the tasting room that had already been served, however the staff ignored us until my wife interrupted two of the servers who were engrossed in a conversation that appeared to be more important to them then serving their customers. When we were finally able to get a glass it felt as though they were rushing through the tasting experience. I give Thumbprint Cellars 2 thumbs down. read more
