First of all, the drive into the town was gorgeous and scenic. What a restaurant with a view! Easy parking and plenty of seating on the inside. Second, the staff were incredible. From the moment we walked in, the young lady taking our order was friendly, welcoming, and helpful with our questions as non-locals. Another co-worker was helpful in helping us to get seated and bringing out food/drinks. Wonderful service, thank you! Third, the food was AMAZING! Everything we ate was fresh, hearty, and so flavorful. We shared a cup of clam chowder and it was so creamy and delicious. My husband got the fish and chips with the Cajun seasoning and it was so scrumptious! And very filling! I got the smoked salmon po'boy and it was so decadent. I loved every bite and walked away stuffed! And, on top of it all, prices were so reasonable for such fresh fish and ingredients! My hubby and I stayed in the Stevenson, WA area for our anniversary weekend and wanted to buy indigenously sourced salmon to bring home. Thanks to the power of Yelpers, we discovered Brigham Fish Market. Inside is bright, clean, and welcoming. Keep in mind, this is not a restaurant, but a fish market with delicious food and a handful of tables inside for folks to sit and enjoy, as well as tables outside. If you're looking for fancy, this is not the place, but if you want delicious, homey food, you won't be disappointed. Since we were still full from our biggish brunch, our original plan was to buy salmon and head home to Portland. However, the folks were so friendly and helpful, we decided to pick up some smoked salmon, a Coho salmon filet, AND shared some fish and chips with clam chowder. Full disclosure, I'm not a big fan of clam chowder, but I could have easily eaten the whole bowl myself. It was flavorful and didn't have that dreaded gritty, sandy crunch, which is why I typically avoid clam chowder. The fish and chips were light, crisp, and super flavorful. The person who helped us recommended their favorite Cajun preparation, and I am so glad we followed their sage advice (thanks again)! The fries were equally delicious-- golden, light, and crispy. The smoked salmon was incredible. It was yummy on its own, on a bagel with cream cheese, and our lucky Sheepies also got a little smackerel for being good girls. They give four paws up. As for the Coho salmon, it was fantastic! The person who brought us our packaged-up goodies reminded us that Coho is a thinner cut and we should take care not to overcook. Oh, did I mention that when you purchase fish to go, they offer you ice? Huzzah!! We were so grateful for this offer, since we had forgotten to pack our cooler. The next night, we prepared our precious Coho salmon by broiling it in a miso-maple glaze for no more than six to nine minutes. It was tender, juicy, and oh-so-tasty! We can't wait to return for more, and this time we'll come with empty stomachs so we can indulge in more of the menu. read more

We stopped here for lunch after visiting Bonneville dam and fish hatchery. The town of Cacade Locks is very small with maybe a dozen or so shops and restaurants, but this is probably one of the best. There is free parking in the back for customers. I started with salmon chowder and it was very good. It was white cream based and similar to New England clam chowder except for the salmon instead of clams. I thought it would be more smoky but it was fine the it was. I then had the smoked salmon po' boy and it was a generous portion of shredded salmon on a roll with lettuce and tomato. It was a very good po' boy although the bread was different than they use in New Orleans po' boys. The wife had smoked salmon salad and liked it. Fresh greens and healthy portion of salmon. The kid had cheese quesadilla and fries. The fries were crunchy and crispy. The restaurant should stick to fish and not venture into Mexican because the kid did not like the quesadilla and I tried a bite and it was not very good compared to what we get in Dallas. The restaurant is small but had a good vibe. The employees were all very friendly and helpful. They appeared to like their jobs. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. My son and I saw the reviews online about the Fish Market, which did not disappoint. It was right next to our hotel. The whole town of Cascade Locks is very walkable. Mon and I had their clam chowder and fried pickles for an appetizer. The clam chowder was the best I had while visiting the PNW. My entree was the Alaskan halibut and chips; my son had the Shrimp Po Boy. Both were very good. I overlooked that they had locally sourced sturgeon & chips that I would have loved to try. There is low-top and outdoor seating. A cooler in the dining area provides free water with refills. The prices are higher, but on par with the area. Very friendly staff provided prompt service. I'm incredibly picky about my fish and chips, and I didn't want to take any chances with being disappointed. So I ordered the halibut po'boy. And oh my gosh. The fish was incredible. The fries were plain. Almost offensively plain-- I wished they had beer battered. But the fish was so good, it didn't really matter. The bread was pretty bomb too. When the cashier described the po'boy as "So much bread, there's no way you could eat it all in one sitting," I knew immediately that I'd likely be doing just that. Well, it was decently sized, but I had no problem finishing the whole thing. It was roughly the size of two Filet o fish sandwiches from the golden Arches. The coleslaw and tartar sauce were both good. Standard. Nothing special. The ketchup tasted like it had mango or peach in it, which was good, but unexpected. I tried topping the fish with red vinegar and with tartar sauce, and both were good, but I liked it best plain, which, I'm actually not sure if that's ever happened to me before in my whole life. Maybe I was just really craving fish. It was so good. I would say $24 for a sandwich is pricey, but considering the current sandwich market, this actually felt like a steal. I mean, it was bomb halibut. The view was beautiful. You can see the river and the mountains from the back patio. Although you are stuck right between the road and the train, that's how the whole town is. Service was phenomenal. The girl at the counter helped me out explaining all the different menu options, and the server brought my food out promptly. I noticed that the people behind me were offered the option to have their halibut breaded Cajun or regular. I think I definitely would have preferred Cajun, but didn't know that was an option. Was asked if I wanted the "cajun" breading, which the cashier said she preferred and was very crispy. Sure. The halibut + Cajun breading had zero taste. Nothing. The "cajun" breading here must only mean corn meal (vs spicy). I've eaten a lot of halibut while living in Alaska, and this was either NOT really halibut, or they've done something to it to remove any flavor. And they certainly should NOT refer to the breading as "Cajun", and just say non seasoned/spiced corn meal. Worse, the chips were the crinkle fries mom fried up when we were kids, 50 years ago. How boring. You know both the fish + fries are bad when I'm wondering how much fry sauce or ketchup I need to use in order to taste anything (well, fry sauce and ketchup). read more

On a road trip through the Pacific Northwest and specifically the Columbia River Gorge area, my husband and I stopped for lunch at Brigham Fish market. We had our dogs with us so after placing our order inside, we took a seat at one of their outdoor picnic tables. The staff were very kind and attentive, and even brought us out a water bowl for our dogs. We started with an order of fried pickles - because that is my current food addiction. The fried pickles were perfectly breaded and tangy. Speared, salty goodness! For my meal, I decided to do the fish and chips which was again, breaded to perfection and cooked perfectly. It was probably some of the flakiest and most tender fish and chips I've ever had. My husband ordered the salmon burger upon the recommendation from the staff, and he thoroughly enjoyed it. To go, we decided to also get some smoked Chinook salmon for the remainder of our trip. The smoked salmon had great flavor and was definitely a nice treat to have. We discovered Brigham Fish Market years ago when buying fresh caught salmon from the Native American Tribes in the then Char Burger, now Bridgeside Restaurant's parking lot. One of the sellers suggested we try Brigham for lunch as they had the best fish in The Gorge. Brigham is a Native American family owned business and freshly caught Columbia River fish is their life. Service is friendly, like family too. The menu has expanded since the last time we were there. Famous for their fish & chips (Halibut, Cod & Salmon) and smoked fish, they also have sandwiches now. I had the ciabatta fish sandwich with Cod ($19): toasted ciabatta bread, shredded lettuce & tomato with a generous slathering of homemade tartar sauce. I enjoyed the sandwich and would order again but would prefer the tartar sauce on the side as it's very thick & sweet and there's way too much of it for my taste. A generous serving of French fries comes along side, a tad greasy if you like them that way. My husband opted for the grilled Halibut plate ($26): served with a small portion of freshly made ceviche-like salsa & tortilla chips. A light and healthy option. We always take home a couple pounds of smoked fish and a half slab of salmon or halibut to put on the grill for dinner. We ordered the platter (halibut, cod and clams + chips) and the cod fish & chips. We also ordered the both of the chinook flavors smoked fish. First the good - very friendly staff. The smoked chinook is on point (but expensive - about $ 40/lb). The bad is that the fish is very dry. Crunchy as they use corn meal for the batter. The clams were just inedible... No taste at all and just tasted like fried dough. Over $100 for the lunch and we can' t understand why this place is rated so high :( read more

Oysters a classic but wish they gave me more accompaniment.. tartar sauce for fresh oysters is a travesty. But like I said, the fish and chips were the biggest disappointment. It was cooked well but there was no depth. If I couldn't actually see the pepper on it, I would question whether it was even seasoned to begin with. It's also weird for the fish to not have a color? This is hands down the best fish & chips ive had outside of the coast. It's a small market with lots of seating outside. everyone there was extremely friendly and helpful.
