She had a mission that night, and let's just say the dealers were more than happy to accept her donations. After watching her try her luck, I figured I had to step in and see if I could change the story. A few hands of blackjack later, the tables started looking a little friendlier. Somehow, I went from the guy who didn't even want to be there to the guy trying to win it all back. Beyond the laughs and the gambling, what stood out was the atmosphere. Thunder Valley has that exciting Vegas-style energy without having to leave Northern California. The property is beautiful, the staff was welcoming, and there's plenty to do whether you're there for gaming, food, or just a fun night out. Honestly, there's so much to say but my fiancé and I decided to get away for my birthday and be here from Tuesday to Friday morning. We're not even checked out yet and we've had quite a bit of issues. The rooms are very spacious and nice, but please keep in mind if you are staying longer than a day then I don't think this place is the right fit for you. This place would probably be better for just an overnight stay because it's definitely not the comfort inn suites. The room does not include a microwave, they charge you an extra $10 to bring up a microwave to your room, and then an extra $10 a night that it stays in the room, which is ridiculous so cold food for the week for us. We have already spent over $700 just for the stay in general on top of that, they do not mention that you have to pay an extra hundred to 140 for another holding deposit after u check in. We had to cover three of our friends deposits that day because they had no idea since they already paid their half of the portion or I think they had already paid and most of my friends weren't getting paid until two or three days later so we had to lose a lot of our money that way to cover them. Valet parking was a bit of a mess. Was told that they need my ID and my insurance card and for my name to be on the insurance as well as the car. Which I understand, but as of right now, I am sharing my mom's car until I find a new car so it just was a whole process of that being inconvenient on top of just trying to get our stuff up to the rooms. Our ticket was also misplaced and taken and disposed of so that took an extra 1020 minutes for us to figure out how that happened because one of the new people accidentally took it with them when we were supposed to have it so we didn't get our stuff for awhile on top of the car. Birthday dinner at thunder Café was a bit of a mess TBH. Had to send my Alfredo back because there was no sauce on it, the chicken itself was dry and cold and not cooked all the way. On top of that do not spend $20 on the pasta because they will just give you two scoops of it and leave the rest of the bowl empty. I chose to get the pizza after that, which was fine. I took it to go since everybody was done with their food. Four of us ended up getting sick from the food there mind you I probably had a total of 10 people with me. So the next day a lot of my friends were throwing up in the toilet or stayed in the room all day due to not feeling good from the food. We were also supposed to use the pool to swim for a couple hours. Only to be told that whoever needs to use the pole needs to have ID and has to be specifically staying with us. No outside guest, even if it is for a birthday thing for a couple hours, which was very inconvenient on 103 day. We definitely should've booked somewhere at the comfort inn suites but my fiancé thought it would be nice to do something different and it definitely was the wrong decision. This place obviously just wants money on top of money and wants to make it inconvenient for u by not telling u everything before u check in and after, so I would not waste your time here. Looking forward to leaving tomorrow and not coming back. I wish we could get a refund off of this place considering how much we have spent and dealt with. On top of no cold water here in the bathroom sinks it's only steaming hot water when u wash ur hands or brush ur teeth. Not fun. read more

The establishment is huge and easily stands out while approaching. The parking garage has 7 floors with limited electric vehicle charging outlets - that are in high demand. The casino is modern and spread out offering dozens of table games and hundreds of slot machines. Plenty of variety for the selective gambler. There is also a smoke free section and a high stakes section. Thunder Valley offers plenty of eating establishments. Chain restaurants such as Peet's Coffee, Fatburger, Subway, Panda Express, Pizza Hut, etc & nice deli's and restaurants like High Steaks, Dos Coyotes, Thunder Cafe, etc. We ate at Red Lantern (Chinese food) and the ambiance was more consistent with a fine dining experience. The staff were very positive and attentive. Kudos to the manager. Thunder Valley is well-known for their continuous schedule of popular performers. John Legend was recently there. The "Venue" is where the greatness happens. It is an indoor arena that seats around 4,500 fans. It includes concession stand amenities and great acoustics. We went to see K-Pop star Wonho, who put in a good performance and impressive soundtrack. His new album is out July 27 and obviously has a strong fan base. We went to see Dwight Yoakam with David Lee Murphy. The performances and the seating were good, though the sound is surprisingly loud for the actual size of the venue. Getting there was easy, and parking in the garage was hassle-free.However, the logistics are highly frustrating. They force you to walk through the entire stinky, smoky casino just to get to the venue entrance. When are casinos finally going to catch up to the rest of the 21st century? On top of that, the clear purse rule is just stupid. To wrap it all up, the drink prices are steep--charging $14 for a single margarita is excessive.Good music and convenient parking, but the venue needs to modernize its layout, policies, and pricing. read more

This place reeks of too much smoke. A couple of minutes in the casino and the smoke already lingers on your clothes. It would be wise to invest in better air filtration systems for the health of the workers and guests. Their pool only allows 4 guests at a time which if you are a family of 5 or above it defeats the purpose of pool time with family. If there's no one to babysit the kids there's no gambling for the adults. No streaming and no recording means no daily trip to the casino even though it's a 5 minute drive. They must make enough money to not allow people to record their plays there. The car giveaway has to be won...if you can pick the matching pair..which I'm not even sure if anyone's ever won a car yet from those drawings. We've been to Thunder Valley a couple of times now to gamble and some concerts at The Venue, but this is the first time we stayed here . It's a beautiful hotel with nice amenities. They have a pool, spa and gym . The service was excellent , everyone was nice and friendly . You can get a good deal during the week but if you try and come on the weekend or when there is an event at the venue the hotel prices almost triple . The hotel includes wireless charging pads on both sides of the bed and a tablet you can order room service off of or extra bathroom necessities etc . read more

We usually like sitting at the bigger bar right in the middle of the casino floor, but it was a busy day and the lines to order drinks were way too long. We decided to head over to the Lobby Bar instead, and it was a great choice!The environment here is much more relaxed and intimate compared to the main casino floor. It has a really nice setup with seating areas both in the middle and along the sides. As soon as you sit down, one of the servers will immediately come over to take your order. They are very attentive and quick. They also offer food items here. While we haven't eaten the food ourselves yet, it looks like they have expanded the menu. It seems like they added more items recently, including a bigger selection of sushi if you are in the mood for that. Overall, it is a lovely spot to escape the casino crowd. 12/15/25- Stayed in the resort 12/11/25- No complaints with the check in or the room itself.. was worth the $75. Didn't realize I had forgotten my curling iron until we got back home .on Sunday. During those three days I never received any notification . When I called on Sunday-.. they did have it!.. Would have been convenient if they would have notified me.. (went out and purchased a new one).. Stopped in to Security and gave them the pin to pick up my item. Twenty minute wait time for them to bring it ..once they came down and retuned it to me- the guard had to write a report - another ten minutes or longer.. Thunder Valley is a very large Casino Resort located near Sacramento. We came in for dinner at their Red Lantern Restaurant with out executive team before our Team Building event later that evening. We were graciously greeted by some of their team when we arrived at the Restaurant. We utilized their valet and their team was very attentive when we arrived to get us on our way into the resort as soon as possible. It did take some time to get our vehicle back when we were ready to leave, but nothing outrageous. Red Lantern is DELICIOUS! This is my 3rd time here and they have the best Kung Pao Chicken I have ever had. We had a large party of 14, and everything was so good and the service and hospitality of the staff was even better. I myself was not fond of the Kung Pao Shrimp - but others in our party enjoyed it. We ordered many different dishes and the service was top tier. We truly enjoyed our experience at Red Lantern within Thunder Valley. We came back for drinks & some game play after our team building event. We had great interactions with bar tenders & floor staff. Drinks at the bar were very reasonably priced. We also enjoyed our gaming experience - some of us opted for slots where others played table games. We spent a few hours here in the evening. I have to say, for what is about $400 a night after tax, the room service is terrible. The toilet clogged. The Ipad to request service wasn't working, it kept saying invalid. So I called the front desk at 11pm. they said someone would be up shortly. I called at 11:15pm. They said someone would be up shortly. We left to go walk around the floor. came back at 2am. SERVICE NEVER CAME! I went down to tell them in person and finally they sent someone. I don't care how busy you are.. it does not take 3 hours for someone to come unclog the toilet. Been to Thunder Valley Casino a couple of times now hanging out after a concert. Plenty of parking although it can get very full especially when there is an event or concert. There is overflow parking across the street which I had to go park at once. Inside the casino is actually nice but can have big crowds. It is not as smoky inside compared to Sky River (although it has gotten better recently). Cool slot machines and affordable minimum bets at the blackjack tables. Plenty of bars for your preferred libations. There is also a food court for when you get the munchies after a concert or drinks or both LOL I'm sure I will be visiting again. read more

It's hard to go wrong at Thunder Valley Casino. In between eating at one of their many restaurants, finding a fun machine or going to a concert at The Venue, they have a lot to offer. I admit I'm not a big gambler, so I can't speak too much to how the machines are (When I do gamble, I stop at $20). I loved the Buffet which existed until Covid times, it was my family's favorite buffet. Now, however, I just go to the food court or the bakery case at one of the restaurants if I want to buy something for breakfast the next day. I'd like to try the steakhouse in the future; my friends told me it's good and peeking inside, the atmosphere looks nice. I've been to a few shows here and like the easy layout once you get inside; merch, drinks and restrooms are all in close proximity once you walk into the lobby. I like that they have parking directly in front of The Venue as well, so you don't have to hassle with the parking garage (although the actual doors to the concert all are locked so you have to walk out of your way through the main entrance of the casino to walk to your car, so it's a little ways). read more

I usually come here with friends for the member gift events and for shows at the venue. The casino itself is visually nice and there are a lot of machines. It feels lively and there is always a crowd. I have also stayed in the hotel before. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The gym is small but it works since hardly anyone uses it. The pool is massive and the hot tub rule with no kids can be nice if you want a quieter place to relax. As a Deaf guest, access is something I heavily factor into my rating and this is where the score gets lowered. I have been told by a casino hostess that interpreters would be provided for shows that we've booked, but when we arrived there were none and they're very against using phones at all even for the live caption mode that doesn't even record in any way. That has happened more than once, which is frustrating when you plan to attend an event expecting access. I also have a Deaf friend who looks younger even though she is 27. Security has approached her multiple times in different areas instead of simply asking for ID or writing something down. This has happened at machines, walking around the food court, and once while she was waiting at Dos Coyotes for the rest of our group. During that visit police showed up and asked where her mom was because they said they received a call about an abandoned minor. Communication in general can be difficult here. Hardly anyone knows sign language, which is understandable, but many employees will not read messages typed on a phone either. For Deaf guests, writing on a phone is often the easiest way to communicate. The waitstaff in most restaurants tend to be more patient though. One server named Sherry has always been wonderful with us. She moved to the café in the casino and we love seeing her there. Overall the property is nice and there is a lot to do, but better Deaf awareness and willingness to communicate would make a big difference read more

I didn't expect the hotel to actually looked or felt this relaxing especially given some part of the casino area was a bit outdated and other areas were up to par with newer machines. Valet & bell attendant in the evening shifts were courteous and accommodating. Pleasant to talk to. Hotel lobby was spacious & nicely decorated. They offer many amenities except the pool, it is closed during this season. Rooms feels clean and spacious upon entering. Large bathroom & a good size tub, however there is no lock to the bathroom. If you do have kids or sharing rooms just keep that in mind. We did not do in-room services, but it is available through the tablet and so many more options features on it if you ever need anything. My mom and I went to Thunder Valley last night for a show at The Venue. It's not my first time visiting, but it was my first time walking around and checking out the different restaurants. The casino offers a high price steakhouse, a 24-hour cafe and even a food court with Panda Express, Ben & Jerry's and Fatburger. While they do allow smoking and you do smell smoke when you walk in the doors, I didn't feel like the smell was overpowering like at other casinos I've been to. This casino is also very clean and each time I went to the restroom, there was an attendant cleaning. Besides a huge casino floor, they also have a big hotel and a spa. Tons of parking too - they have multiple lots plus a parking garage and it surprisingly wasn't too crazy when leaving the event last night. The traffic was organized and made leaving a lot easier than some places I've been to. Overall, Thunder Valley has all you can expect from a casino and we'll definitely be back! read more

We came here for a few nights over the weekend and I realized it has been over a decade since I updated my review, which is far too long! Since my original review that was for the hotel only, I have visited many times to eat and gamble and I must say that I think the 4 star rating still stands. The rooms are great, the gambling is standard and the food is just fine. I like the little sweet shop by the entrance with cakes and treats. It always hits the spot. The bathrooms here have an attendant and are clean and the staff is usually friendly. They don't have some of the perks I get elsewhere but the reason they can never get 5 stars from me is the smell. It's worse here than most casinos and I do play in the smoke free areas when I can but even other smoky casinos don't smell like this one. We spent a lot of money here this weekend and had a good time so I will keep coming back. read more

UPDATE 04/16/2026 I spoke with a William freeman who seemed polite and professional. I presented with returning for a meal on my next return. This was acknowledged and accepted. The conversation kept light and amicable. I returned to Thunder Valley on 04/16/2026, played for a while and decided to exhaust the return invitation. upon entering there was a young man leaning in between the counter to my right. He literally, had both elbows on either side of him implanted on both sides of the counters, slumped over. I thought he was going to start swinging back and forth like kids do. A young lady standing at the counter, asked if I was ready to order. I told her, I had talked with William, and I should be in the book. The young man bent over still, never having looked up from his position, tells her bluntly/rudely to "just go get the manager". Looking at him in awe, I stand and take in the scene in front of me. I'm not having a good feeling about this decision to patronize. The young lady turns and walks away, returning with a medium height gentleman middle-aged and a large stout younger gentleman close on his heels. The older man is holder a binder which he opens as I hand him my black player's card and recite what was previously, stated to the young lady. He opens the binder with the other man hovering over his shoulder. Looking for my name, the younger man points to a notation within the binder. Still bent over and both elbows leaning on both sides of the counter, the young lady standing behind the cash register, I'm guessing by now this older man is the manager since he hasn't introduced himself; He informs me that my name is there but there's nothing beside it. He states, "William has written your name but has put nothing next to it, so I don't know what you want." I can recognize wasted time when I see it or solving someone else issues, when need not be. I scope the scenario in front of me: 1. An employee bent over, leaning like he's going to swing on the furniture at any moment while never looking up once (insulting) 2. Cashier absolutely loss of what her next move should be 3. Overbearing employee who seems to be auditioning to for a part as a bodyguard to the manager 4. A manager asking me what he should do. At this moment, I was through! I told him that I would come back at another time, reach out to my host and William. I proceeded to turn away and walk out. Once again, baffled by the customer service. I would have been better off spending my $59.75 in comps and energy at Peet's. read more

Went for pool day. Our group of 5 rented a cabana for $500. Website said $400. Also, be aware that the cabana rental is a separate charge. Unlike vegas where the rental fees are waived if you meet the food/beverage minimum. So, pool is small. Adult only side is small. MUSIC- couldn't hear it. Expensive. Long drive from the bay area. Service from servers made the experience good. Def would look elsewhere. Not worth the price $500 rental fee for cabana plus $435 for food and drinks. read more

Now when I came back and play the same machine and lost $200 when playing the same machine. It's seems they tamper the machine so that you wouldn't win again or the odds are slim. Roseville doesn't have many options in terms of serving food late at night near me, so we gave in and decided to swing by the casino to grab something to eat. Parking is plentiful even on a Saturday late night. I was hoping to grab something from Fatburger but apparently they're still remodeling and will be back by September. Ultimately, had some Panda Express, and they were quick to serve us. Staff was very active in cleaning tables once patrons left so that is always appreciated. We attended the Lenny Kravitz concert at Thunder Valley Casino on Friday, May 22, 2026, and what should have been a fun night ended in a frightening and unacceptable experience. As we were leaving, a golf cart shuttle driver offered us a ride to our vehicle in the second parking lot. The cart already felt very full, but the driver insisted we could all fit and instructed me to sit on my husband's lap. The driver then took off at what felt like an unsafe speed for a crowded parking lot and roundabout area. My husband and I were thrown from the golf cart. We sustained multiple lacerations, significant bruising, and my husband suffered bruised ribs. EMTs responded, but we were left shivering in the parking lot while receiving care, exposed to crowds of people walking by and staring. I still do not understand why we were not moved inside to receive care in a cleaner, more private environment. I asked to speak with someone in charge and was connected with "Tom," who stated he was the manager. We were handed a card instructing us to submit a written claim to an address with no further guidance. We were explicitly told to use our own insurance. We were also told management was busy and did not have time to deal with us. To make matters worse, EMT personnel attempted to have us sign waivers, which we declined. Photos were also taken of the bottoms of our shoes, as though footwear tread had somehow caused this incident. Be serious. Being injured because of poor judgment and unsafe decisions is bad enough. Being treated afterward as though we had done something wrong -- while feeling dismissed and humiliated -- made an already upsetting situation even worse. Very disappointed with how this was handled from beginning to end. We will be taking next steps. read more

The valet was nice and helpful I explained to him don't bury the car to far in because I come and go. The Bell hop got the luggage right upstairs to our rooms and the front desk had all our credentials in order for the show tomorrow. So far so good from the service we received. read more

Sitting at this bar and this bartender kicked us out because we were not playing this electronic game after sitting there one minute. So freakin rude. I have been coming to Thunder Valley for years since they have opened. I have been to the bar many times for a short period of time and never has anyone kicked us out of the bar. On 07/30/26...As I was driving to thunder valley to play an have some fun.. on the side of the road there was a burnt grass sport.. there were fire fighters on the scene.. an electric poles were knocked slightly down where you can see the electric wire from the pole were hanging down..
